Quote: The little village is unnaturally empty and devoid of all life sans that which came from Destiny City. To add to the eeriness of everything, sometimes a small area will randomly feel cold and unnerving more than the rest of the town. Close investigation of the area will result in finding a small piece of weathered metal; you can just barely make out runes carved into it, but it's not large enough for you to make out anything. As soon as the metal is picked up, the mood in the area immediately fades and, oddly, you feel safer holding it. You may only find one of these per character! Elsa hated this place. It was cold, and foggy, and creepy, and as much as he was willing to indulge in the occasional horror story, he'd never wanted to live one. And yet here he was, trying to shake off the clinging certainty that if he let his guard down, this place would be the death of him.
It was smarter to travel in groups, and so while he didn't know the civilian he spotted, he still moved over and waved to the man.
"Hey, I wanted to check out the building over there--I think it might have been a barn?" He shrugged his shoulders, as he gestured in the direction of the building he spoke of. "I was hoping to grab a partner, just in case...y'know. Pyramid Head, or whatever else is hanging out here." He paused, and could have smacked himself for his rudeness. "Uh. I'm Elsa, by the way." He extended a hand, because that was only polite.

Jacues was surprised when he was addressed by the Dark Mirror. He knew the Senshi was one because first of all, he didn't look like a typical order Senshi. Second, Jacques himself was pretty sure he could tell his own fellow Corrupted from others, and this Senshi did not have the tell-tale marks of being a corrupt. Therefor they had to be a Dark Mirror. It was still a surprise though, and for a moment he wondered if the Senshi wanted to use him as a distraction in case they were attacked. He couldn't blame him. Jacques was pretty much dead meat here anyway. While he normally would have said no, he wasn't powered and had to pretend that he didn't know anyone here, so time to be the silly civilian! He smiled at the other. "Sure, I'll go with you! I'm Jacques. Though I'm surprised you're Elsa. Wasn't that a Disney character or something?" He asked shaking the offered hand. Just needed to sound clueless and maybe he would get through all of this without exposing himself. He didn't really care if any Negaverse agents already knew who he was, but he needed to make sure that no one else did.

Elsa gave a brief nod at the hand shake, and let a little chagrined grin cross his face. He wondered, briefly, if under this civilian's guise there was an enemy or an ally--or if this was just an ordinary person having the worst time of his life.
"Good to meet you, Jacques." He dropped his hand. "And...yeah, definitely also a Disney character, the Snow Queen. Also an asteroid, apparently, and I mean...I can't say where the name came from? But I will say my magic sure does fit the snow and ice theme."
To say the least. He was, of course, currently avoiding the fact that it only fit that theme if one also added in a thick layering of pure, unadulterated horror.
"Anyway, let's go. Maybe we can find some tools or something." He started off towards the barn, doing his best ot look unconcerned. This would be fine, surely.

Jacques has to admit that at least he hadn't been named Elsa. Ice magic would probably be pretty awesome, but he was pretty sure that Splendor was much more grand compared to ice. Ice was an expected and needed annoyance. It took a certain amount of luck or skill to make something truly great though. He would have to keep anything that he learned in his head for now. Even if he did have his phone on him, there was nothing to charge it with, which meant that if the battery were to go out before they got out of here, then he would no longer be able to use it. Might as well use it as little as possible then. He followed the Senshi towards the barn, making sure to keep an eye and an ear out for anything that could be considered suspicious or dangerous. Nothing seemed out of the orindary so far, except for the lingering feeling that something was amiss in the area.

His companion's silence didn't really bother Elsa. There wasn't much to chat about, really; he didn't feel much in the way of a need to fill the silence with blather. It was enough, simply, to walk over and duck inside, and sigh discontentedly to see that the immediately visible tools looked rusty and useless.
"Unfortunate," he said, but as he moved towards some crumbling bales of hay, he felt something ettle aorund him. Nothing about this town was exactly calming or comforting, and it was never exactly warm, but suddenly, it was like he'd been dipped in ice, and he longed for the warm folds of his cloak, sitting in the house he shared with Metis. Worse than that, he felt much more on edge than usual.
He exhaled between his teeth. "Do....do you feel anything...off? About this place?"

Jacques followed the other inside and cursed inside of his head as the temperature immediately dipped. It seemed to take the Senshi a moment to realize what the temperature was, and while wanted to say something along the lines of how the other couldn't have possibly noticed it before, he remembered that he was the civilian and that meant he was much more susceptible to the temperature. He took a look around the inside of the building just to make sure that the Senshi wasn't asking about something else. "Well, it appears to be extremely cold in here." Jacques replied only barely able to say it without his teeth chattering. "But otherwise I don't see anything out of the ordinary."

Elsa exhaled--and he could see his breath, which just confirmed it. "Ugh, I hate this," he said, turning around slowly. "Maybe there's something in here causing it? Some kind of weird magic?" That didn't seem too far out of place. So he strode over to the crumbling hay bales towards the far wall, and began poking around in them, shifting hay and twine and pieces of cloth to get a better look.
He grabbed a piece of twine, tugging on it to shift the bale it was attached to, but instead, it came apart in his hands---and that was when he found it.
"What the," he murmured, picking up the strange piece of metal carefully. It seemed to be inscribed with runes, or sometihng, and the moment he picked it up, he felt, suddenly, safer, and also a little bit warmer.
"Hey!" He called, turning around, "see if you can find a metal shard with weird markings over there."

Jacques was about to move over to where the Senshi had gone when the other called out to look for a metal shard with weird markings? Oh boy. Jacques did not look forward to that. Shards often implied sharp edges and he would rather not cut his finger in a place where he so clearly couldn't wash it. He sighed and started to carefully shift through some of the leftover equipment when he thought he saw a glint and carefully, using some of his sweater to pick the shard up, he moved it to his other hand and the feeling of warmth and safety was felt. "Hmm..." He wondered to himself. After finding it he walked over to the Senshi. "Found one. These must be here for a reason, maybe to ward off whatever it was around here. But with their being so many shards, whatever it is has been broken." If it was ever together in the first place. But to have such tiny runes carved on it, they couldn't have gone through the trouble of just marking random pieces of metal with... whatever this magic was, could they?

Elsa made a thoughtful noise as Jacques brought over the shard, frowning at it faintly. "I think you're right--these were probably part of something bigger once. Maybe multiple somethings? Who knows." It seemed like the only explanation that made sense, to Elsa. Who would have taken the time to carve runemarkings onto broken pieces?
These reminded him, he realized of the strange talismans in the woods. He had to admit, he wasn't sure how he felt about that.
"We should probably hang onto these. It seems like they made this place feel a little better, so that's something--and we can maybe coordinate with some of the other people stuck here. see if anyone else has found something similar."
He took a look around, frowning. "I dunno that there's anything else useful in here. Most of those tools look pretty rusty, and I wouldn't want to risk whatever might be on them. Not here." He flashed Jacques a smile. "Thanks for your help, though. I bet we'll be seeing a lot of each other."

"I hope we find out." He would have added "but in my experience, most of the time we're left with more questions" but that would have hinted that he knew too much of the magical going-ons of Destiny City. Still, it was a thought he had and he doubted that they would be able to figure out literally anything about this place. It would most likely take multiple trips here and unless this was someone's Homeworld or Wonder, he doubted they would ever come here again. "Yeah, I think that would be best. And it's no problem. Besides uh, trying to survive here, there isn't too much to do." He missed modern day conveniences so much. He headed out of the "barn" structure with the Senshi, intent on making sure that the building he was sleeping in would be able to survive another night with the creature.
