Quote:
Trees stretch in every direction, tall and dark and full of unfriendly shadows. Nothing about the area seems safe, and there is a darkness in the forest. If you travel into the forest, you will find that no matter what path you take, the village is always within sight behind you. Any direction, any distance, any time you spend--the village will always be within sight. There is no barrier to stop you, just a strange, infinitely looping forest. Within the forest you find no recognizable trees or landmarks.

He couldn't speak for everyone else's chosen abode, but there were certain parts of his that he hadn't been entirely happy with. While there hadn't been gaping holes in the walls and the windows could be shut with reasonable ease, there were small portions of it that he personally felt needed to be 'fixed'.

With that in mind he had decided to order certain individuals in his 'household' to come with him on an expedition. It wouldn't be a long one of course, if anything it was simply a jaunt into the forest that he had anticipated would provide some semblance of material. Whether it was stones, fallen wood or something more substantial, it was worth a look at the very least.

What he hadn't anticipated were the complaints.

It was safe to say that Shaowei and Namielle had something in common and that was that they both hated manual labour. No sooner had they followed him out of the house than he had been bombarded with complaints that ranged from 'I have a dodgy back' to 'DIY is not my thing'. Needless to say they had been thoroughly ignored.

...Well not ignored, he had cast a rather irritated expression towards the pair.

"But genuinely I wouldn't know how to use a hammer even if I tried," Shaowei pointed out as she strode after the taller Senshi. Her lips were down turned in a rather glum expression and it was safe to say that on the whole the young woman was not happy that one of her first experiences of a powered world had transported her into the midst of something entirely foreign.

"You don't need to know how to use a hammer," Athalia replied calmly, refraining from looking over his shoulder as he continued to walk.

"What, are we just shoving the wood in the little holes then?"

"If that's what it takes." Came the next reply.

"Is he always like this?" Shaowei's attention flicked towards the cat who had adopted her shoulder as a suitable perch and released a sigh.

"Serious, practical, entirely unsympathetic?" Namielle summarised as they continued to move closer towards the forest. She paused momentarily and then provided her with a nod and a rather warm smile. "I think that's his default setting," she admitted and gave her paw a dismissive way.

"Charming."

"I know... But at least he's big enough to carry most of the stuff so all we have to do is find it, you know?" The Mauvian replied merrily. It wasn't strictly true and it was highly likely that she would live to regret that declaration but she was safe for the time being.

"Is he also going to knock the wood into the holes with his huge forehead?" Shaowei muttered casting her gaze here and there as she observed her surroundings, the snort from her shoulder seemed to indicate that her Mauvian companion was more than a touch amused by that comment.

She knew they weren't alone out here, she'd seen others as lost and confused as they had been. Had they all claimed somewhere for themselves as well or were they still looking? The town wasn't that big so it was only a matter of time before she ran in to some one else... she just wasn't entirely convinced that creepy forests proved to be an attractive gathering spot for lost souls.

Actually it was probably a perfect place, but generally speaking those lost souls were dead.

...She was fairly positive that neither she, nor the cat on her shoulder, had quite left this world just yet!

[[OOC Background - Athalia is trying to gather supplies to 'fix' areas of his chosen 'home' that he's not entirely happy with. While the setting starts in the forest, it can branch out into the outskirts of the town and the delipidated houses around it too!]]

Super Sailor Pasithee
The Blue Lotus
WMS

Pasithee was wandering in the woods to see far they went, she had come from the opposite direction and had been attempting to trail mark behind her so she could make it back. She had just turned back to stare as her mark was repairing itself to the way it had be. She was standing in the way.

Corrupt Eternal Cybele

It was strange.

The only thing she was sure of was that she was Cybele, Senshi of the Hunt. She had all the trappings of someone who should be comfortable in the woods. Perhaps the antlers she wore were a prize she'd claimed and she was meant to be a master of the wilds.

There were a few things that felt familiar to her in a way that she couldn't explain with her lack of memories. She could run at breakneck Eternal speed and not falter. She could call upon her magic. She could draw a physical bow, too, and send arrows into a bullseye in a way that made her think she'd been doing it for years.

Yet this forest didn't feel that way at all. She had stood by the edge of the treeline for a full hour, waiting for something to click into place, but nothing had happened. She was just looking at trees, tracing their spindly branches with her eyes over and over again. When she finally tried walking in further, she found herself stumbling over rocks and getting branches caught in her hair.

She was standing with her fingertips just brushing a tree when she heard the others. The instincts finally flared to life as the auras got closer. Two Order, one Dark Mirror. This was the first she'd seen of the enemy, and she glanced over her shoulder.

Others had been acting like this was a crisis situation, so she wasn't sure that she was obligated to fight right now.

He came to an abrupt halt as he drew near the forest's edge. In fact, his sudden stop soon caused Shaowei to run directly into him and it was with a disgruntled cluck of her tongue that she took a series of steps back and then to the side, to give herself ample distance. She didn't enjoy walking in to people as it was, let alone something that was arguably a damn wall.

"Was that necessary?" she enquired, placing her hands on her hips as she peered at the senshi. A further inspection of his features and he followed his gaze towards the edge. It seemed that they weren't alone, and based on the fact he was gazing towards both, she had to wonder if perhaps she was missing something. Either that, or he was weighing up his options when faced with yet another chaos born senshi.

"Someone you know?" she hazarded, assuming that it was either that or something else.

"One I definitely don't know," he replied as he nodded towards Pasithee. That didn't mean he didn't appreciate the presence of another Order senshi, on the contrary he was happy there were others nearby, but when it came to the other he had to shake his head.

"The other I may know," he added. His tone was a little strange in those moments and Shaowei couldn't help but raise her brow.

"Wonderful, well then more hands to help," She waved her own dismissively and took the lead. Suffice to say that the Dark Mirror senshi was more than happy to pursue an efficient route if it meant she could sit down and rest more swiftly. The man would move eventually, but for now she would at least reach both the Order and Negaverse Senshi herself.

What she hadn't expected was for the Negaverse one to look quite so perplexed.

"Everything all right?" she hazarded towards Cybele.

Namielle meanwhile, had elected to jump off the shoulder of her companion and move towards the forest's edge herself. One chaos born senshi was ok, having several around her at once was a little out of her comfort zone even if there was a truce.

"Well at least there's plenty of wood," the Mauvian remarked as she reached out a paw to prod at the grass. It bent under the weight of her paw and she conceded that at least that was real.

"What are we all waiting for?" she added and peered at Pasithee. "Is something in there?"

...Maybe she'd just let Athalia go in first, it was safer that way!

Pasithee

Pasithee finally noticed that she was in the way, that there were Dark Mirror Senshi and an Aura of type she had never come across, it felt horribly wrong. Nothing she could do about that right now.

"Oh excuse me, I didn't realize you were there." She sighed, this forest was really getting on her nerves. "You're not going to believe this, but I came from that way," she pointed directly into the woods. "I left the village and came straight through the woods.. and ended up here. I started on the other side of the village too. I tried to leave a trail," she gestured the broken plant that had almost finished repairing itself, "As you can see, it repaired itself. And there are no living creatures in the woods, at all."

Pasithee then nodded, though in shock, to the Corrupt (a type of Senshi she had never seen or heard of before.

Cybele was unmistakable. She had the same mint green hair that struggled against its ties, even though there was much more of it now. As she turned to observe those approaching, it became obvious that she had the same piercing violet eyes and the same crown of antlers.

It was also unmistakable that she was wearing black.

Her gaze was equally blank as she looked over both Order senshi, although it lingered for a moment longer on the man. "There's strong magic here," she said to Pasithee with a small nod, not seeing any reason to be rude, given the circumstances.

Still, it was only when she was addressed by the Dark Mirror that she actually smiled. "I'm all right," she said. "Just looking around. Did you need wood?" She was already standing under a tree, so it was easy enough to reach up and snap off a largeish, low hanging branch. It was nearly as tall as she was, but she would have likely been able to carry it even without the extra strength. She held it out.

Captain Wolframite
Half-Youma

Wolframite had done as Laven had suggested. As the other went to fix their cabin, he went out to see what all the signatures were doing. The mingled pricks of energy suggested several groups were forming and not all Chaotic. It felt similar to when he gathered them once before under the same battle flag.

But those days were gone.

In uniform, the half-youma was slow as he walked, careful not to disturb the stitches and bandages under his uniform, and wishing this forest had more benches. Bending down to rest on the floor was too hard so he instead took break resting against a tree. The conversation he heard wasn't good news so he headed over to see what else they had figured out.

Politely, he held up one of his large, clawed paws on in the universal sign of greeting. "I see both sides got pulled in. That knocks out my suspicion of it only being the Negaverse." He said casually.

He didn't know these officers or the senshi as far as he could recall at first glance.

A new face, and one that didn't seem to be moving particularly fast either. Athalia was no medic, but he knew better than to question, whatever the reason for the lumbering it wasn't currently any of his business and he certainly had no grounds to exploit it. Given that Wolframite had also presented himself in a more diplomatic fashion, he would at least provide the same courtesy and offered a small nod in return.

"It would be safe to assume that the City and its allies are up to their usual tricks," He agreed. He didn't know who or what the culprit of this adventure was yet, but it was safe to say that when he did find out the identity of it, it would be meeting a rather large fist. Hopefully he'd even break chunks of it off given his distaste for these games to begin with!

"But given it's penchant for causing a great deal of inconvenience, you will find no hostility from me while the favour is returned," he added with a half smile.

Perhaps his calm demeanour would be enough to settle Pasithee's uncertainty in regards to Cybele. While he wasn't happy to see the Eternal and he did recognise her, now was neither the time or the place to make a drama of it. At least his suspicions had been confirmed in that respect, she had been subject to the worst, but there was nothing to be done about it for now.

Pasithee's information however, did give him a reason to frown.

"You went in there and came back out in the same spot?" he asked carefully, if only to make sure he understood her correctly.

****

Shaowei on the other hand, had settled into a more relaxed stance as she regarded the approaching Negaverse agent. With the Mauvian still settled upon her shoulder and Cybele to her left, she wasn't necessarily under the impression she was in a hostile environment for now. This may have been her first foray into the great unknown of powered life, but at least it had been considerate to her.

...Well, considerate for now.

"I'll be honest I'm following his lead," She nodded towards Athalia and shrugged.

"Yeah, we need to fix the house, the holes aren't giant in it but he's not happy about 'em," Namielle confirmed with a small sigh. She'd managed to get herself comfortable in their preferred abode and no sooner had she done so than she'd been hauled outside to provide her assistance. At the very least she'd acknowledge that drafts sucked and filling the holes made sense, but that didn't mean she was happy to be out here carrying things either!

"I would assume wood, stones and anything else that's useful," the Dark Mirror added with a wave of her hand and peered towards the forest again. To be honest, it seemed all right from out here, and while the others may have been uncertain or cautious she didn't have quite the same feeling in her gut.

"What are you out here for?" she queried and tilted her head to one side. "If not for wood..."

Cybele glanced back over to Athalia at the Dark Mirror's indication. There was something there when she looked at him. It wasn't recognition, but it was something. An instinctual hunch, perhaps.

"Is he the organized type?" she asked. She considered the branch she was holding for a few long seconds before she set it down, shaking her head. Her expression wasn't quite as blank now, just critical.

"I don't know if fallen branches will be much good for patching up a house," she said. "You'll need boards for that, or bigger wood and saws to make them. A few sizes of saws would be best, but at the very least you'll need fasteners to hold your patches in place. Nails, for example." The words came out cooly and matter-of-fact. It was only afterwards that Cybele blinked, her lips pressing together.

The appearance of an agent gave her someone to gravitate towards, and she

It was not the forest that had ended up sparking her memory at all, but talking about construction? Strange. That was something to think about later.

For now, she tilted her head at Shadowei's question. "I'm looking for clues," she said, her smile staying steady through the half-truth. "Or a way out, if I can find one." Although even with her limited knowledge about what was normal, she did not think that she was getting very far in these woods.

The appearance of an agent gave her something to gravitate to, and she subtly made her way in his direction before nodding. "Captain."

"Organised, drill sargeant, slave driver," Shaowei was clearly jesting at the last part as she followed the Corrupted's gaze back towards Athalia. No harm to the man, but at some stage in his life he was going to have to lighten up, for now though she'd humour him and in the grand scheme of things there was method to his madness. She didn't want fog and drafts coming into their house anymore than anyone else did and if that meant carrying random materials back and forth then she supposed she could do that.

"I don't think we have much of an option to be picky though," she added and placed her hands on her hips. With her lips pursed she was regarding the trees, each with decidedly thin branches. They were definitely going to have to go further in to find something moderately more useful in that respect. If they were here for the long haul then she could always revisit Cybele's remarks and work towards a more lasting solution.

...Perhaps that was the grump's intention as well?

----

"I don't suppose you've found either of the things you were looking for," Namielle finally picked her moment to speak, having dropped down from the Dark Mirror senshi's shoulder she was gazing up towards Cybele curiously. While she didn't hold out much faith that such a thing had been found, stranger things had happened and maybe something had caught the attention of the Eternal in her wanderings.

If she hadn't?

Well, she might have found something else that would speed up their 'mission' and get her back into the warmth and away from the dismal weather a little more quickly. At this stage she was very much in the camp of 'temporary measures are fine', but much like Shaowei, she'd be highly likely to revisit the topic if it became apparent and exit strategy remained elusive.

----

"Based on her remarks," Athalia motioned to Pasithee and shook his head. "I'm surprised the forest didn't just throw her back out," he murmured softly. Nevertheless with the walls closing in around them and the sun continuing to roll through the sky, it was safe to say that Athalia considered the time for idle chitchat to be over. He gave a half nod of his head as he stepped into the forest and began to stride through the undergrowth. He seemed to be heading in a set direction, but quite frankly there was nothing to tell him what the right direct was to begin with!

"If you don't mind, I would prefer to walk and talk," he added over his shoulder.

"I would like to be able to see the holes I'm trying to repair, I'll be less likely to mess it up," he pointed out with a wry smile and continued onwards.

[Moving him into the forest just to get him started on what he was working on, can have people popping in and out whenever as I know life is busy!]

Quote:
Sorry I've been AWOL

Pasithee nodded to the Senshi. "Yes, I came out the exact spot I went in. And the trail I made to guide myself back repaired itself before my eyes. This has some sort of creepy movie theme to it..."

She turned to the strange (corrupted senshi). "I feel for the sense of decency, I need to apologize. I have met WMS of all kinds, I have met some DMS Senshi. But I have never met a Senshi like you. Your aura... makes me deeply miserable for some reason, and my stomach upset. But I hope we can get along for the time being. I'm sorry."

"Everyone I apologize. I should apologize for not introducing myself. I am Pasithee."

Cybele's expression was only somewhat blank as she listened to the Dark Mirror's description of Athalia. It sounded like he was willing to take charge, and perhaps even enthusiastic about it. That sounded like the sort of thing Sylvite would want to hear about, if she ever made it out of this strange world to tell her.

"I was not trying to encourage pickiness, but there may be more resources that what's out here," she said. "I would be surprised if there aren't some sort of tools in the village." The houses were sturdy enough, and the one she'd looked into had even had simple plumbing. That wasn't the sort of thing you could make with rocks and sticks.

To the cat, she nodded. "I did find this," she said, and she indicated the talisman she's tied to her ribbons. It was wooden and old fashioned like everything else here, with simple etchings on it. "Someone thought it was worth hanging in the trees, but I'm not sure what it does." She glanced over at Athalia as he continued trudging into the distance. "There was no simple way out that I saw."

That line of thought was cut off by the other senshi saying that her aura upset her stomach. Cybele raised an eyebrow, although her expression remained otherwise stony. Other people would have found that insulting, she was fairly certain, the same way that other people seemed to find this town and forest unsettling. Perhaps it was no wonder that the Negaverse disliked Order.

"I am under no orders to harm you while we remain here," she said, but her voice had gone cold, and she did not give her name.

To everyone, she added, "It's getting darker. I'm heading back to town. I'll let you know if I find any tools." The Dark Mirror, at least, got a polite nod before Cybele turned to the village in the distance and started making her way through the trees.

[Cybele is exiting]

Though Cybele had taken her leave she did have a point and it was that which made both Shaowei and Namielle exchange glances. Suffice to say that in the grand scheme of things it was getting dark and while Destiny City was somewhere she felt safe being when things were less bright, she didn't get the same feeling from here. They may have needed the supplies but if she could get home sooner rather than later she would be in favour of that.

"We should... go," Shaowei murmured.

"It would be a good idea," Namielle agreed as she dropped down from the Dark Mirror's shoulder and offered a winning smile towards Pasithee. "I remember you, you're the one from when we first arrived," she pointed out and gave a wave. "You were with Bernard," she added. She could at least remember names and faces quite well, and she wasn't one to be rude even if they had a rather brief introduction when they'd all landed here earlier.

"I think I gave you my name but just in case!" She pointed towards Shaowei and grinned. "This is Shaowei, I'm Namielle, and the guy who just left is Athalia," she added.

"Mmm, and giving he walks really quickly and I'm in heels we should probably avoid waiting around for too long," Shaowei warned with a wry smile. It was with that in mind that she gave a tiny motion of her hand and entered the forest herself. She'd pick up what she could when she was in there but she would be heading home before long herself.

...Truth be told, they probably all would be heading home soon if they wanted to keep themselves safe.

She soon disappeared from view and it was with another small wave of her own that Namielle bounded after her, tail held high. Pasithee was welcome to join them of course, but eventually even she would have to return to shelter to avoid the mist as well!

[Shaowei/Namielle technically exiting!]
