Quote: In a village in the middle of an eerie forest, you need shelter. There are many empty houses speckled across a central village, each with its own customizable features. The houses are always made of wood and field stone. They lack all modern commodities, however there is crude indoor plumbing. There are thick glass windows, misty and difficult to see through, and thick wooden doors that are heavy and difficult to move--however all of them have barricades on the inside to keep intruders out. Most houses have several rooms and some even have multiple floors, but there is something aged and almost crumbling about each of them. They are safer than nothing, but they are cold and uninviting. You need to claim one of these homes for yourself, but with so many unknowns, it's probably best to find a group to stick with and have your back. Do you try to take on this oddity in a house, alone? Or do you manage to find people to get along with and share a house with? It was safe to say that he had found himself in a democracy that he was not exactly happy with, but when it came to strange and decidedly suspicious lands, it was safe to say that there was strength in numbers. On this occasion that 'strength' was up for debate and he had to concede that if something did jump out at them it was highly likely he'd be the only damn thing in its way. Nevertheless, here he was, surrounded by women and cats, looking for something that would function as a safe haven.
In short, they needed a house.
He'd been house hunting before of course, this was something that occurred when all men and women reached a certain age and struck out in to the way but the last time he'd done this it had been easy. He'd been shopping from himself, his requirements weren't particularly complex and he hadn't needed much space. Now? Well, now he needed to find space for a minimum of two opinionated women and three even more vocal felines.
His arms were folded as he strode through the sullen town, lips pursed as he afforded a glance towards the available 'properties' and their current states. Some were in greater disrepair than others; in fact, all things considered they were in reasonable shape... But a closer inspection of one or two off to the left made it abundantly clear that they would be useful for very little.
If he was in charge and his opinion was final he knew which one he would have preferred to claim but when it came to others...
Well, Namielle had already taken a comfortable perch upon the shoulder of an unlikely ally and was pursuing the wares herself. Had internet been available in this region it was likely she would have vetoed several of these locations already, but fortune had favoured him in the sense that she had taken interest in several and was motioning in an animated fashion towards them.
Beside her, the Dark Mirror senshi was nodding appreciatively, and had murmured several points of her own in regards to more nuanced aspects of whatever building had taken their interest. At some stage they would come to some measure of agreement, and then the rest of them would have to pitch in and make their own opinions known.
Whether this suited Metis or the other two felines though remained to be seen...
"Have you seen anything you'd prefer?" he asked at last, casting a glance over his shoulder towards Metis. He didn't seem terribly enthusiastic about the circumstances they now found themselves in, but then again, he was never happen when random magic occurred. He was sure that Realta would be nearby, and as for Orias... well the day that cat became invested in anything other than beer, flamethrowers and explosions would be the day that Athalia retired and became a comedian.
"If we can stick to something reasonably sized that should at least give us some wiggle room in case we stumble upon anyone else," he added. Not that he planned to adopt strays but this was generally how these things went for him and he much preferred to be ready for it!

Coming out of an odd fog during a late-night patrol into a creepy, worn-down old town in an even creepier forest, was high on her list of odd experiences. The addition of familiar faces was at least a welcomed relief. Realta stuck to her like a burr, the large feline barely a few paces from the Eternal's feet as they walked--she'd been that way since the moment they found themselves in their odd surroundings, distrustful of what might happen if they separated for even a moment. Not that Metis could blame her.
Metis, herself, was arguably walking a few steps closer to Athalia than might have been strictly necessary. Not quite the burr Realta was to her, sure, but...
If he stopped too quick, she'd probably run right into him.
Copper energy waves bounced around them, along with yellow from the felines. Silver tendrils laced through the copper, shimmering, highlighting their source as a senshi--or well. For two sources, anyway. She watched through her magical vision as some of the energy waves, their silver tendrils... flickered. Like she remembered static looking on a TV her father once tried to fix unsuccessfully. An image was there, just broken by the flickering white and black, coming in and out, fading under the static. The silver here bore the same oddity. She'd seen it before, in the few times she'd encountered some of the Dark Mirror Senshi, but it still perplexed her. Fascinated her.
Not like she'd any control over how things looked to her sight.
"Hm?" The chatter around her was mostly like the flickering off the Dark Mirror's energy signature, static. Background noise. Faded against her thoughts. But Athalia's voice cut through quick enough, startling her from the otherwise empty space she was staring at as she watched the energy waves drift around.
It took her a moment to rewind her mind back to the actual priority at hind, her cheeks going somewhat pink at being caught 'staring off,' so to speak. Only to slowly redden as she began to turn her head around a bit towards some of the houses. They weren't beyond her vision's limit, at least not all of them, and on some, she'd gotten close enough to actually give a bit of an inspection of her own. But this was a moment where her magical sight wasn't entirely suitable for the task. "I'm... not sure, to be honest," she murmured. "There's been a couple that didn't have any gaping holes in the roofs or walls, so that's an ideal feature, but one was just that two-room house a little ways back."
Metis forced herself to not fiddle with the coin chain around her waist. "My only requirements are just: keeps us dry, keeps us reasonably warm, and can be reinforced for defenses if needed." Which. Probably. Still, she tilted her head as she considered a moment. "Two-stories, I think, would be good in terms of additional room. If we can find what might have been an apothecary shop, or a physician's clinic, then those could also be renovated. Or suggest someone in the village was wealthy enough to have a larger house worth commandeering."
Down by her foot, she heard Realta try to smother a laugh. "I'm not sure we'd be commandeering anything. There's hardly anyone here to be taking from in the first place, unless you count ghosts."
Now, the guardian was speaking metaphorically. But every here and there, she had to wonder if she perhaps joined Lilith in listening to too many haunted tales, given the time of year they were entering...
Realta groaned. "Why did I let you talk me into joining you for those ghost shows marathon the other night?"

"There's no one here," Athalia pointed out coolly.
If there had been someone here they'd have given themselves away by now, it was unreasonable to assume that anyone had managed to keep themselves hidden with that many eyes on the town. Given those eyes weren't terribly impressed by the very existence of the place either, they would have been keen to drag someone out for questioning if they'd been found. Actually, the more he thought about it, if a bunch of random aliens landed in his town then a bunker would probably be where he headed as well.
"Regardless, we'll look for something larger," he agreed and pursed his lips. He was silent for a time, lost in thought as he allowed Namielle and Shaowei to meander ahead of him. Their chatter continued, as did their enthusiastic hand movements, and then he finally managed to dig up what he needed from the depths of his memories.
"Outskirts," he said finally and gave a brief wave towards the edge of the town. If there was one thing he had learned from his time visiting his parents, when it came to towns and large villages, the larger and more impressive houses were always on the edge. They needed the land mass, and more importantly, they needed to be easily identifiable to the locals when they were needed most. If this town followed that stereotype then they were likely to find something useful there.
"Worst case scenario we find something salvageable and fix it," he added.
"There was a forest, which stands to reason there's timber...and I'm sure it wouldn't take much effort to kick a wall in another home through that was in worse shape," he pointed out.
"Just so long as it's you who does the kicking, I'm not ruining my shoes," Shaowei called out over her shoulder, she'd half listened in to some of the conversation, if only to appreciate that there had been logic to what Metis had said. She concurred with the need for somewhere a little bigger, especially if any of them started collecting senshi like lost sheep.
Just so long as she didn't have to sleep on the floor she wouldn't complain...

Orias plodded along rather silently if he did say so himself, letting the others bicker and rationalize about which house would best suit their numbers or which one would survive an attack the best (Atty's concern, naturally). Honestly, it was situations like this in which the previously homeless Mauvian excelled. This was nowhere near the cutthroat reality of living in alleyways and scrounging for scraps, although he hadn't really seen any food yet. His jerky and ginger snaps would only last so long, especially if others discovered his food stash. Atty would know, obviously, and probably Namielle, but the newbies? Not yet. "Just pick one that isn't going to fall on your heads," he chimed in, tall bushy tail flicking from side to side as he meandered. There, input and participation. He'd done his part. Orias had a nice pleasant buzz from his beer on the rooftops earlier, but that mist lurking on the horizon gave him the willies. His fluffy butt furs were standing on end, and he'd learned to trust jittery butt fur. Atty was right about one thing, something would definitely be coming for them. If nothing else, one of the male senshi's friends seemed to have trouble with sight. He didn't necessarily have to outrun any monsters, he just had to outrun her. Or Namielle. He wasn't really sure how fast his fellow Mauvian was, but he was scrappy and wily. He'd still bet on himself there. "Dibs on all wispy senshi accessories if we can't find a working roof!" the Maine Coon added. "I can make a cozy little kitty home from them, and they grow back! Or so I hear."

"Why on earth do you want our clothes?" Shaowei had finally found something more interesting than the dire surroundings. With her lips pursed, she flicked her gaze towards the Mauvian who had given at least some form of opinion before promptly laying claim to their possessions. Shaowei was still new to this and wasn't aware of the fact that their costumes tended to dissipate when they removed the magical glamour, so it stood to reason that the young woman remained curious as to what he intended to do with their clothing.
...She had a lot of silk, while Metis had a lot of lace.
If she took a quick glance at Athalia and surveyed his outfit she would be fairly confident that he happened to be adorned in silk as well. She had nothing to back this up of course, she hadn't exactly invaded his personal space within the last few hours, but a cursory glance did at least support it. In terms of texture it gleamed the right way and as such, she would defer to her instincts on this one. That didn't answer her question though, silk wasn't terribly good for much and as for lace she was fairly certain it had to be a certain type to be used as gauss.
Then it hit her.
Some of them happened to be adorned in jewellery, small amounts of it, but when melted down and reforged it was likely to make a pretty penny or six. She gave a small gasp at this as her mind went to a very inappropriate place and then she shook her head. Fortunately it wasn't long before he clarified what he actually wanted her things for and if she understood him correctly then that meant -
"You want to make a tent out of our clothes?" she pressed and then shook her head.
"Well at least you're not pawning off all our gold," she added with a sigh. "Although I'll be honest with you, I'm fairly certain that lace and silk make for terrible insulation," she continued. "I have a silk night gown at home and that does nothing in the cold," she warned.

"Of course," Orias replied airily. "Why else would I want anything to do with all those gaudy costumes? Make a cape? Actually that's a good idea, maybe I'll take some spare and sleep in a tent with a cape on. Super cat nap." The Mauvian spared a glance over to Athalia. "He doesn't really need his clothes to keep him warm anyway, on account of he's so hot. Like a manly sun. That's how I know he'll be willing to share his danglies." Orias padded over, lovingly stroking the tassels of Atty's outfit. "They make great Molotov fuses and ropedart whips too! Such a functional outfit."

Shaowei squinted, her brow raising rather high at the feline's declaration - was he being facetious or was he genuinely attracted to the senshi? She couldn't quite tell in those moments, but a quick glance towards Namielle and the Mauvian's decision to shake her head in exasperation seemed to imply that perhaps Orias was jesting. Granted the man wasn't bad to look at, but somehow she had doubts he would willingly expose himself.
Either that, or she'd misread his stuffiness.
She could do nothing more than shake her head and this and regarded him for a few moments longer, taking a very brief instant to observe the sashes for herself. She hadn't found a reason to destroy her own attire before but apparently it was more common for some than others.
"You know," she said at last. "I think I'll let you use his stuff first," she mused as she placed some distance between herself and the feline. Though not intended, such a shift in position did cause something of interest to catch her eye though and her mouth shaped in to a small 'o' of intrigue.
"I'll be back in a while," she said after a moment and without further explanation, she turned down into one of the streets and began to make her way towards whatever she may have seen.
------
Namielle meanwhile had elected not to accompany her, instead staying with the more familiar set of senshi and cats for safety. She didn't think that Shaowei was necessarily dangerous, but she didn't know her well enough to be so sure. It was better to remain here than to wander off elsewhere and find herself in trouble.
Athalia on the other hand, had simply cast a rather disgruntled glance towards his bonded Mauvian. While he did have a point about the usefulness of his clothes it didn't necessarily mean that he enjoyed turning into a hobo after every single fight either. He'd reserve his comments for now given he would much prefer to find a suitable house first...after they'd addressed that priority, then he might bring up his views on indecent exposure!
[Shaowei exiting for this RP, she'll be back for the others! Namielle staying with the others for the remainder.]

The Savannah's ears twitched back towards the Maine Coon, her head at one point swiveling back to stare at him when he called 'dibs' on apparently whatever wispy accessories the senshi were decorated in. Her pearl eyes rolled. "I think you'll need more than just their wispy bits to cover your bulk, my dear," she said with a hum, resisting the urge to point out the only way the parts of a uniform 'grow back' is if the person wearing said uniform reverts to civilian form, then transforms again.
She assumed that was a given among Mauvians.
As it was, she was pretty sure Metis would be retaining her own rights to her woolen layers for her own warmth. She didn't have the luxury of a built-in fur coat for insulation.
She paused in her steps though as the outrageous Mauvian went up to Athalia and stroked the silken accessories, pointing out their use for Molotovs and ropedart whips... after his comment about being a manly sun. She puffed out a snort of a laugh. "I beg your pardon? He's a what? Would you care to repeat that? I don't think my ears are quite what they used to be." Which was, of course, quite the lie, but her tail was flicking about in her heavy amusement nonetheless.
She looked to Namielle with a grin, almost cackling at the situation.
--
Metis had just nodded with Athalia's decision to search the outskirts for a suitable building, though feeling useless at the idea of having to fix a building up. Again her hands twisted amongst the fabric of her skirts. She'd figure out ways to help, even if it was just carrying supplies, holding things in place... it wasn't a lot, but she wasn't just going to sit back and let others do all the work alone.
The growing conviction in her mind had kept her distracted long enough from the conversation that by the time she returned to it, she was only aware of Shaowei saying something about a tent out of our clothes, followed by some silly response from Orias about a cape and...
Her cheeks went distinctly red as her brain offered the unhelpful addition of how she was close enough to Athalia at times to feel how warm he was, though that was likely, not what Orias meant. Which then trailed along how the guy was so proficient at combat...
Metis picked up her pace immediately, walking pointedly around Athalia as she heavily cleared her throat. "We're looking for a house, aren't we? This is just ridiculous!" Trying to ignore, on her part, how her face was still red as could be.

"Repeat which bit, what'd I miss?" Namielle had somewhat tuned out Orias at one point as her focus had been elsewhere, but whatever had been said had clearly left Savannah's mood tickled and Metis a touch disconcerted. Add to the fact that Athalia's expression was questionably dark and she could only assume that her beloved Mauvian companion had said something 'odd' again. Had he been perverse?
She shot Orias a rather pointed look before glancing back towards Metis in amusement. She was vaguely aware that Metis may not have always been blind, but did that didn't mean Namielle had a good grasp on when the circumstances changed. Did this mean that the young woman had enough of a recollection to put some of the pieces of the 'appearance' puzzle together on her own.
...Actually.
"You know imaginations can be a dangerous thing," she cooed musically as she looked between the party. "For all you know Athalia could be a troll, Metis," she continued.
"I am not a troll," the man interjected.
"A really tall, slender one that radiates a lot of heat but with a face that -"
"I am still not a troll," Athalia continued darkly. Ah, he might not like to parade around and model at every opportunity but the guy did have a measure of pride. He wasn't a bad looking man and while it shouldn't have, the teasing had riled him up just a little bit... but maybe Orias knew that was going to happen and had done it on purpose!
"And I believe I may have something," he nodded towards one of the larger buildings. One side of it was a touch exposed in the roof but the rest of it seemed fine. Provided the barricaded and sealed off the exposed part properly they would be fine, right?

Oh no. Realta laughed outright, a near cackle of a sound, as Namielle joined on in. Her pearlesque eyes twinkled as she looked towards the other feline Mauvian. That Athalia was very much defending his looks only put her into more of a snicker fit. "The Lord doth protest too much, methinks," she cooed in turn, her smile very much a wicked little thing as she snickered up at the tall senshi in question.
"I think all of you are the trolls," Metis shot from slightly up ahead, making the Savannah snicker all the more. She wasn't wrong, but she could see the tinge of red on the young woman's ears, and considering how both of them were getting into a huff... oh it was dreadfully amusing to her.
But then, Realta wasn't going to hide the fact she enjoyed some eyecandy.
Athalia's expert redirection of the conversation--she expected no less of a cop, laughing as she was--made her hum. She looked up at the house he indicated, taking in the fact the walls all seemed to be stable enough, though the roof needed some fixing up. "Seems like there'll be enough rooms for everyone, but we'll have to look around inside to be sure," she mused. "Will the troll be keeping a toll on entry--"
Metis groaned, a sharp sound that made Realta grin all the more as she watched the Eternal march on towards the house in question. "Oh alright, alright! I'll stop! Metis, dear, please wait up. Last thing you need is bumping into a rusty nail," she called after her charge, picking up the pace to trot after her. "Though there's other types of nails that maybe would do you goo-"
"Realta!"
The Savannah's cackle could perhaps be heard for quite the distance.

It was safe to say that it was going to be a long night if Realta, Namielle and Orias were all in the moods that they seemed to be in. All three Mauvians seemed to be much more cheerful and positive than he was, and when it came to Orias in particular, that usually meant that Athalia was in for a headache. The only positive was that Orias was normally focused on something a touch more explosive or chaotic, provided all three of them weren't determined to make innuendos all day then he would probably survive the trial.
Nevertheless Metis had already stalked off in the direction of their 'home' for the evening, one that would have to do whether anyone liked it or not. Rather than idle out here, it was probably for the best that they follow suit and take the time they did have to survey what they'd found. Though he wasn't aware of the dangers that lurked in the dark here, that didn't mean that he wasn't aware of the normal rules that came with surviving outdoors.
...In short, one should not be outside in the dark and cold without shelter to return to.
"All right, let's see what we've found, hm?" he offered to those who were still with him, namely Namielle and Orias. With a small wave of his hand, he wandered after the other senshi and towards the abandoned house. When he got there he'd spend the next several hours of his time checking for what needed to be fixed, what everyone else did was entirely up to them!
----
Unsurprisingly Namielle followed suit, albeit at a slightly slower pace. She wasn't much for lugging timber and stone around, but she might take a wander around this odd building to see what she could find. Maybe there would be something useful out there, something that would help them work out where they were, right? Kaefaux Consider this the close out for Atty <3 Wavesoul_Fantasia Just in case you want to do a close for Orias, those please don't bomb the house. =P
