Patrol, he could do this, it was stupidly easy really, walk around, suck some energy out of people… deliver.

It was a little like picking pockets except he was a little further away from the people he drew from, and they tended to fall asleep after rather than chase him yelling ‘stop thief’.
It was bringing out a bit of a malicious streak in him to be honest. It was like the perfect chance to put people who were arrogant by day, into a embarrassing but not really compromising positions.

Sometimes it was just people who had reminded him of people he’d known in the past suited too, others were just, because they were there.

He was going to cream this ‘quota’ s**t and go back to delighting her with leftovers from work.

The itch to pick a few pockets was there too, especially when they were already out cold. Instead he was carefully framing one business man who’d been really -quite- rude as he bustled by was now laid on a park bench, carefully covered with strips of cardboard and, he’d fished empty bottles of booze out of a few bins to set about as well.

He stood back to smirk at his handiwork, drumming his fingers against his leg as he contemplated that wallet. It wasn’t even like the bugger would probably miss it but… ugh. No, he was in a better place now, and someone else might need it more.

He stepped away and froze as he felt… something crawl across his skin. A sort of ‘something in the air’. Sort of like when he was talking to ‘his boss’ but, wrong somehow. It made him want to scratch at his skin where he felt it, or his brain because it seemed more like something he was aware of more than a tangible touchable thing in the air.

He felt really foolish reaching for his ‘crochet hooks’, but he found himself doing it anyhow.

Priam really needed to learn that just because there was a youma around, it did not mean that it was all that was around. He felt like he had never seen so many--like, before his first encounter, he'd been completely oblivious to them. Now, he felt like he was finding them all the time.

He had slipped into his powered form under the discretion of a dark shadow, but as soon as he did, he knew something was wrong.

The youma was forgotten; he had another problem to deal with. Cold dread bubbled in his stomach; for the briefest moments he thought he might be able to power down and just hide--but if he got caught, he was just more out of luck.

He didn't have any way to call for help. He didn't even know if anyone could help.

...He'd been okay after the last Negaverse Agent he ran into. She had left, but back then he'd had Qingcheng. At least, for numbers, if not for battle.

Now...

Nalanda sucked in a breath, closed his eyes, and clutched his pen tightly in his hand. It's not like he could do much but throw it, but it made him feel stronger just to have it. He stood up straight, opened his eyes, and stepped out of the darkness--and his heart stopped when he saw a dark figure across from him.

Not the girl he'd seen before.

He blinked at the amount of white the newcomer was wearing, arching an eyebrow.

“You’re one of those… invader people.” He concluded after a moment. At least General Cavansite had filled him in on that, or he’d have had no idea why he might have that uncomfortable creeping feeling. How did people not notice when they walked down the street? Was this one of those odd things that went with the mystery super hero clothes?

Weird…

He looked, nervous though, really nervous.

“Are you supposed to do anything like, monolog or do introductions? I know this isn’t a comic book other than you look a bit ridiculous… but I’m learning as I go eh?”

Parasite quirked a smile, it was a rather malicious one if he had to admit. But he stepped forward with a hard ‘Stomp” and said “BOO.” Because honestly it looked like it would work.
Maybe, maybe if he showed them he wasn’t an ‘officer’ to be messed with.

He’d done a pretty good strike on the General after all, and she was a seasoned fighter at all this.

Nalanda was afraid, but that was the logical emotion to feel in this situation. He didn't like conflict. He knew what it was like to hurt. Running had never worked before so in the pit of his stomach, he couldn't imagine why it would now.

He raised his head a bit as his eyes settled on the lieutenant and all he could do was hope he looked a little more resolved.

"If you think that's cute, you're sorely mistaken. I'm not here for fun and games."

He was here to track the youma, to stop it from hurting people like the youmas that almost got him.

The expression on the lieutenant's face was everything he expected for some dark creature, out to hurt others. And yet, he was human, and that was more frightening maybe than the monsters he'd seen. Youma looked like beasts.

He looked like anyone. Like your coworker. Like your next door neighbor. Like your best friend.

His stomach sank again and he thought he might throw up.

"Just go home. Nobody has to get hurt."

He narrowed his eyes, what a stodgy little ponce.
“If that was supposed to be a threat, then you didn’t start in a good spot. Blood’s gonna look like hell on all that white.” He said curling his lip.

He could have said a lot, could have postured like some of the people he’d found over time did. But he wasn’t here to try and win a fight with words. That was for people from civilized homes that fought for a thrill.

He stepped forward to make the first move, curling his fingers and striking up not with his knuckles but with the base of his palm and aiming for the nose. That sort of strike if it hurt was enough at the least to bring tears to even the toughest fighter’s eyes. He knew, he’d been on the receiving end of it when he was younger and cocky.

Not a good start, okay. His nose wasn't broken, he knew what that felt like and this wasn't even that bad. Unpleasant, but if he was lucky it might not bruise. And if it did bruise, it wouldn't deform, so there was makeup. This was fine.

As long as he didn't do it again.

His glasses were jostled on his face but they didn't break, and he reached up a hand quickly to shove them back in place. He had recoiled from the blow; it felt like needles had been shoved into his lips, his cheeks, his eyes; he could feel it in his ears.

It's okay. It's okay. Oh--no, it wasn't, he was blacking out a little bit.

It's okay.

A voice in the back of his mind told him to fall down, play dead, curl in a little ball, protect your face.

But that was a different Priam, from a different time, and he was doing his best to leave him behind.

Besides. He wasn't Priam right now. He was Nalanda. Who couldn't use those same tactics to just disappear. Who had to do something.

It seemed like he'd been doing a lot of stomping recently, and the angle was decent enough that he thought he could get away with it without sacrificing his balance. He raised one arm as if to block further blows to his face and stomped on the Agent's foot as hard as he could.

It was partly a guessing game; he couldn't afford to take much time to aim. He'd take what he could get, though. He just needed a few seconds to pull himself together.

He hissed air through his teeth, the boot heel jammed hard into his foot. His general would be familiar now with his counter-attack, leaving his foot, pinned under his opponent's boot. For all that he longed to yank it free, he instead stepped forward, One leg between the 'knight' or whatever's leg's and swept to hook at the stomping bugger's neck. It wasn't the most graceful sweep, but proximity demanded compromise.
If he were Lucky, those stupid white pants would have a good-sized stain on them from the concrete when he tipped top over teacups.

If he could take him down, maybe, he'd do something foolish like tear some stitches with his stupid little crochet hooks—just a little something to be humiliating. Damn things had to have some useful thing he could do with them. Ah, who was he kidding? They were just about useless unless he wanted to stuff them into someone's nostrils.

A Page and a Lieutenant. Probably not enough to be anything too dangerous, but there was a niggling concern in Squire Ammersee's mind that he should head over there just in case.

It didn't surprise him that they were fighting any more than it surprised him that they might not have sensed him; it was easy to lose yourself in the adrenaline. Even now, he sometimes wound up oblivious to the happenings of his radar when he was keeping his attention focused on the battle in front him.

Either way, the Neptune Squire broke into a run when he saw Nalanda slam down on the agent's foot. He saw the agent sweep his leg. He saw Nalanda haphazardly grope for the agent's chest, trying to grab fabric to slow his fall.

He didn't, but that was okay.

Nalanda had spent enough time hitting the ground in Ammersee's presence and he managed to grab the back of his coat just before he tumbled backwards. Ungracefully, he heaved the Page up before his outfit could be sullied, before he could hit his head or hurt himself.

The Negaverse was unpredictable and he wasn't going to risk that this Lieutenant had more up his sleeve than either expected.

"Enough," he commanded, and gripped the front of the agent's uniform even as he gripped the back of Nalanda, who seemed to be dazed and trying to find his footing. Being a squire had its advantages; he couldn't remember exactly what he'd come from after purifying from the Negaverse, but it wasn't difficult for him to look at the young man in front of him and wonder what he'd been promised in exchange for his service.

He wished it was so easy as to just shake some sense into him. He was still new--or, at least, hadn't been exposed to enough Chaos to completely warp him. He hoped. It meant that maybe he had a chance. But then, maybe the sappiness of his brother and the rest of their group was getting to him.

He wanted to think that if he had a chance, maybe others did too. So, he didn't dream of mauling him. Not unless he deserved it.

He held the agent off the ground, just enough to prove that he could. "You're done," he said, expression firm. "Unless you want to see what fighting me will do for you. Do you understand?"

He should not have become so caught in the moment; he should have, absolutely should have seen someone else coming. There was a more robust feel of that unpleasant prickling sensation over his skin than even the ponce in white managed to put out. He’d been out of the game too long, that was the only excuse he had, and if this had gotten serious…

His breath caught in his throat, and he glanced down, half offended, half assessing at the hand that had wrapped up a full handful of his shirt. The command in his voice was enough to send an electric shiver over his skin, the unpleasant crawl of something he tried not to remember.

If anything had been close enough, he’d probably have bitten at that moment. He heard what was said, listened to the warning in it, but there was a low crawling panic that surged up, and he lashed out, flattening his hand and swiping the edge of it towards the slender man’s throat.

How much worse could he be, after all? He was tall and whiplike, and more than that. The need to free himself was almost a scream in his head.

He couldn’t even articulate in his moment the demand that he be released, it was break free or nothing.

Ammersee found himself dropping Nalanda just a bit; the Cosmos page swayed a bit and seemed to only just now be aware of the fact that his nose was leaking blood. Suddenly, he was afraid to reach up, to touch it, worried that maybe in the heat of the moment he'd misjudged the damage.

The wild swinging made Ammersee vaguely think of a feral cat, fierce and frantic and desperate to be free.

But, cats had claws, and Ammersee wasn't going to stand around and wait to get scratched. If the agent had been calm, he could have lowered him gentle, but with all of his flailing the only thing Ammersee could think to do was to let him go--and toss him back a bit to make sure that he didn't wind up hurting Priam any more on his way down.

It wasn't graceful; he didn't do it with any intent to hurt him, but as soon as Ammersee's fingers released and he tossed the agent back, he moved to step in front of Nalanda. "Damn it," he muttered, summoning his half-size golden trident, if only to help give him a bigger barrier. "--You understand that you can't win in a fight against me? Do you want to get hurt?"

He wasn’t surprised that he got tossed backward, but was shocked at how far he went. It made him misjudge his landing, heels of boots catching on pants that were entirely too long, and he stumbled, falling onto his a** with an indignant hiss.
A feral snarl followed quickly as he staggered to his feet, braced and watchful.

His eyes narrowed.
Can’t win a fight against him?? Can’t? He gritted his teeth, assessing the challenge. He half wanted to take another go at it, but he hadn’t survived as long as he had by being a dumb-a** who let pride take him down.

His gaze flicked to the trident and back, and he stood for a moment huffing for air, trying to rediscover words for a moment.

“Wouldn’t be the first time. Tell your brat not to start things they can’t finish.” He snarled.

So much for not using verbal bravado as a cover, but he was planning his retreat. He backed away, flicking glances back towards them as he removed himself, distrusting them, unsure they wouldn’t follow.

Worse, he wasn’t sure they couldn’t teleport as his General could. He couldn’t remember if she said they could or not.
Time for more questions next time he saw her.

"Neither of you should be starting things," he reprimanded, but the agent was retreating and no one seemed like they were going to need a hospital run. He made no effort to get closer to him, no attempt to chase him. He almost wanted to go check on him, but he wasn't going to give the Negaverse any reason to look into him.

He wasn't going back. Best to do his job but to lay low, otherwise.

"Like I said," he repeated. "You're done. If you've got somewhere better to be, go. I won't stop you. But no more trouble tonight. I don't want to see you out here again tonight. Or ever. But if I run into you again, that's a talk we'll have another night."

He kept his eyes on him but looked at Nalanda, already pulling a handkerchief out to pass to him so he could wipe at his nose.

Nalanda accepted with a quiet word of thanks, but his eyes were on the agent. He wasn't upset, but the expression on his face wasn't any single, easy to read emotion. His brows were knit, like he'd seen something he couldn't explain. He held the handkerchief to his nose but his eyes didn't falter. Of every emotion, the only thing that seemed easy to trace was just sadness.

It had been a while since he’d felt such a distinct surge of anger at anything like authority or worse, the look he saw on the ponce’s face; pitty.

He bared his teeth in a grimace, clenching his fists like he wanted to fight, wanted to establish this as his territory, his patch of ground, his…HIS.
They wouldn’t waste pity on him after that. They wouldn’t look down at him, they -

He hissed out air through his teeth and shook his head.

“Guess we’ll talk again sometime.” He said through gritted teeth, eyes darting between the both of them. How much stronger did you have to be to throw like that? How much harder could he hit. How much more could he take?

Not questions he dared test tonight, he was slipping quickly back into a need for cover and safety. There were bigger dogs out than him tonight, and he had to accept that, for now.

He tossed a mock salute, two fingers to his brow, and swept out again before he retreated out of sight.
