He woke up. Much to the surprise of the doctors in staff and the curiosity of their lacking youma patient history, he had woken up. Waking up was just about the most he could do though as sitting up was unbearable and he felt groggy on a tenuous low dosage of pain killers in his IV drip. Everything felt too cold and all energy was soley devoted to sluggish thoughts and just existing.
Laven had been there from the moment he opened his eyes, and if you counted his dreams, even there still. The next few days were left in bed, slowly being fed medication that let him sleep and getting what few calories his body would take from the food. The medication didn't mix well with his stomach and mind and left him feeling naseous half the time, cold, and hard to string a few thoughts together.
When the dosage was lightened, the pain came, but he could hold a conversation, and talking with Laven told him about her discussion with Tina. He wanted to talk to her, figure things out, for all of their sakes. Yet Laven insisted teleporting or even moving much in his state was ridiculous and right now he had to focus on his own wellbeing. It was agreed though that, once released and if he could show improvement, he could see her. He didn't have the energy to put much of a fight up.
Once he was released, a officer was kind to teleport him straight to his front door where Laven handled to the rest. Shower, all mindful of his wrappings which were changed, fresh clothes, and laying on the couch was the most he could do. He ate, slept, and tried to work on his tablet to get something done. It was awful. Even catching up on the movies and tv shows was making him feel useless.
But he was home, and once he could stand just a little bit, he waited for Laven to go collect energy again. He had been texting Tina for the past few days, seeing if maybe she could meet him here, but there had been no response. It would need to be a visit and he knew her place from their holiday dinner around Thanksgiving. It was rough to teleport, and he had intended to stand at the front door. What happened was he ended up in the kitchen, which was good because the counter gave him support when he nearly toppled over.
Maybe he should have pushed this off for a few more days.
"Tina?" He called out, feeling strange breaking into his friend's apartment.

Kat had been drinking, and drinking rather heavily. There were empty bottles of various flavored vodka around the kitchen and the dining room, and the young woman was laying on the couch, pausing and blinking blearily as she heard her name. Her powered name. Said by a male voice.
“…Wolf?”
Either this was a dream, or some sort of alcohol based illusion…or he was dead and this was his ghost.
She hoped that he wasn’t dead…but sadly that was what made the most sense.
Ekaterina stared at the male for a long moment and got up, swaying as she moved to pour herself another small glass of the clear booze, taking a moment and selecting a bottle of the raspberry flavor, pouring it into her cup and heading back to the couch.
“Berate me all you wish, Wolf. I am well medicated…”

He looked at the bottles not with disapproval but with the thirsty longing of a man in a desert. How he could go for a hard drink right now to dull his mind and give him something fun to do at home, but the medication he had, though not as hard as he would have liked, did not go with alcohol.
"I wouldn't come if you answered my texts. Do you know how hard it is to use a keypad with claws?" He said, grunting as he set a hand on one of the set of stitches on his sides and slowly walking towards her. His movements were far from where he had been, complexion pale, and he gritted his teeth as he moved to the end of the couch she took, moving aside a bottle, and lowering himself down as carefully as he could.
With a huff of relief, he leaned back, hand still pressed against the bandages under his shirt, and took a moment.
"I'd ask how you are holding up but it seems you are trying to blast your brains out." He looked at the bottles around him. "Didn't take you for much of a drinker. Not a fruity vodka one at that."

“My phone is broken. And you are dead so there is no point in anything. It is my fault that you are dead. Laven is no longer my friend and the only thing I have left is these bottles so.” Kat took a long drink and watched Winter with eyes that were more than a little unfocused. “...I did not mean for you to die, Wolf. I am sorry.”
She did care. No matter what Laven thought. She cared more than she could ever admit. He had been her friend. Her mentor. And because of her stupidity, he was dead. And not just dead. Haunting her. She supposed it was what she deserved.
“It would have been cuter for you to come as my tissue ghost. My tissue ghost was cute. A knight stole it, you know. When I became a captain. I do not know why they let me be a captain. I am the cause of my best friends dying. And leaving me. And hating me.” Kat’s gaze drifted into her cup, which she drained as easily as though it were water. “...I was just meant to be alone.”

"News to me that I'm dead. Maybe everything wouldn't hurt so much and I wouldn't feel like crap right now. A drink would be nice, but the meds." He sighed, knowing mixing those was a bad idea when his body wasn't holding up so good these days.
"I'm not dead." He said again, looking over at her and, just to see if she needed some sort of physical reminder that he wasn't a ghost, he picked up a couch cushion next to him and gave a small those at her.
"You got me to the Infirmary. That's something." He said, leaning back and breathing deep. He was quiet as she drank and he did wish he could have drank with her if she was going this hard. Drinking always had helped him when he had s**t time or difficulty expressing himself. With dealing with himself.
"You have a problem, Tina. Starseeds. I ******** up with you. I gave you something you couldn't handle. I thought I was just keeping you safe by showing you a way to keep living if you got really in trouble, But it wouldn't up being the cause of all your trouble. I don't want to say anything to anyone. I want you to get better. I want you to keep working hard. I want you to come clean, but I can't want things and expect you to just do it. You need to want it too - but aside from not being left alone and Laven, I don't know what else you want in life. You don't seem to ever ask for much."
She was almost as bad as Laven in how little she seemed to want to bother others or take too much.
"If I died, is this how you'd just let yourself go? I thought you were supposed to be part of our pack. Our team. And you just gave up on Laven. My ghost would have been pissed. I would come back to haunt you if I could, and I wouldn't be a cute ghost either."

Kat grew very still, especially after the pillow was thrown at her. It hit her squarely in the face and she furrowed her brows, looking from the pillow, back up to Winter, and then back to the pillow. “Oh. You are a poltergeist then? This will be a violent haunting. I see.”
Looking down at her glass, she saw that it was now empty, what little having been left now adorning her shirt and lap thanks to the pillow. With a sigh, she put the glass on the ground and curled up, bringing her knees to her chest. “Laven does not want me. She thinks I am useless. I was harsh to her. I was angry. She was angry. We are no longer friends, Wolf. She will not want me in the pack. You should not either.”
The words pained her to say, but they were only the truth. “I am not worthy to be on your team. I will...I do...I do not know how to stop. Even…”
Kat let her eyes close and rested her chin atop her knees. “...Even now I wonder if I could simply take out my own starseed and consume it. I have not gone out. Have not seen people. Not since I saw Laven. I stole the alcohol. When the store was closed. I needed it. It helps keep my mind off...off of the starseeds. But. I am so sleepy, Wolf.”

He patted the space beside him when she mentioned her exhaustion. "Come here. I won't hurt you but I'm too sort to scoot with these bandages. Put the bottle down and lay here a moment." Be said as he took another pillow and put it on his lap.
If she took his invitation, he would work to gently stroke her hair. It was a calming thing he always appreciated himself.
"You are not a bad person. You make mistakes. We all do. I've made plenty. Laven has made hers. But you can't just sit with your mistakes. Fester with them. They will eat you to nothing and I don't want to see you dissolve because of one ******** up. I want you to take this and move forward."
"You two have said some harsh things. Anger is okay. You felt things because they are important to you. Laven did the same because you are important to her too. You need to work on your relationship. I'll tell you her and I have fought plenty. Said the worst things to one another. I lied to her before. Nearly broke her. But I went after her and talked to her. I kept my promise to be with her when she needed me."
"You are drinking because the pain is how important she is to you. If that is the case, then you need to go and talk to her. Try again and learn from what happened. Repair. Make amends."
He leaned back as he stared at the ceiling. It was hard not to fall asleep. Damn this medication. Everything felt fuzzy all the time.
"I'm not giving up on you, Tina. I'll keep coming."

Kat’s lip trembled slightly and she made her way to him, laying her head on the pillow in his lap and swallowing hard. With some hesitation, she patted his knee and looked thoughtful. He seemed…solid enough. Maybe...maybe he was telling the truth after all. Maybe Wolf really was still alive.
She gave a soft sniffle when he began playing with her hair, tears finally beginning to stream from her eyes in earnest. “...Laven does not wish to be my friend any longer, I fear...I almost...I was very nearly the cause of our…of her...her boyfriend dying...I...she thinks I do not care...Wolf...I do care...I care very much...I...do not want to exist in a world where you or her do not…”
There was a few moments of silence and she pressed closer to him, nuzzling his hand like a cat. “...I do feel for you too. Wolf. I...not as sharp as Laven...but...I do feel for you too...not indigestion. I think. My crush has extended to you. I would...I mean. It will not happen but. I can tell you that I...do feel. Too.”
It was the alcohol talking, she figured. Kat had never been any good with expressing herself. Feelings were too difficult to understand.

"I care for you, Tina. It's why I'm here. It's why I don't let you run away. I care and because I care, I need to talk to you. Because in the end, I don't want to loose you either. The only chance I have of that is to talk and try. You need to build the courage and do that with Laven. I cannot fix things between the two of you. But I think you two were both scared, angry, and hurt. You two should talk again and express yourself. I'm - real s**t at that. So good luck."
His claws gently moved through her hair, careful but warm as he combed through her hair gently. As she moved to nuzzle his hand, he cupped her wet face and looked down at her.
"You don't have to want to ******** met to love me, Tina. Though I am a very active man, Laven has my leash these days. I swore loyalty to her and in turn her jealousy is kept in check."
"But there are many kinds of loves. You are a very pretty woman, and you do try your best. I think you just need some help. To get some control over your addiction. Before - things get even worse." He breathed out, looking at her as he tried to dry her eyes but knowing she probably needed to let it all out.
"Laven is going to be taking care of me, but I won't be able to protect her as well as I can now. I need your help. I - won't be able to protect myself either." He could barely make it across a room these days.

Pausing, Kat looked up at the male, making a face that was half confusion, half something akin to disgust. “...I do not wish to ******** you, Wolf...that...is gross.” She wasn’t drunk enough to consider such a thing. Quietly she pulled away from the male, her brows furrowed. “...Why do you think I want...something like that? I do not understand. I…”
Is that what he thought she wanted to do with Laven too?
Kat sighed. Perhaps...perhaps Wolf did not understand her like she thought he did. “...Laven is jealous of me because you have thought of ******** me?” Suddenly, she felt sad, lost and confused. “...I will protect you both if I can...I...do not know...I…”
Getting up, Kat shook her head. “...Thank you for visiting me, Wolf...I am glad...you are not dead…” Even though, somehow...she felt worse than she did when she thought he was. It made no sense at all.

Wolframite stared back at her and his ears dropped, not only noticing his mistake, but being slightly hurt that he would be considered gross to someone else.
"Uh, sorry. I - uh - I just thought that's what you eventually wanted to do with Laven. Like - love to intimacy?" He said, now feeling far more unsure about himself than he had up until this point.
"Oh god." He said, rubbing a paw over his face. "Sorry I'm just - a horribly horny person. I wasn't thinking. I just assume people are like me."
"Ah no! No! I never said that! I wouldn't! I wouldn't have said that or done that and PLEASE don't tell her that she will KILL me!" He said, suddenly very alert and frightened that very idea.
"She never said anything like that. She always seemed like she wanted to be close to you and be friends. I'm not sure about her. She's hard to read sometimes. She's private and keeps to herself and is unsure what to say sometimes so I'm not sure. This is just me being a complete idiot." He was frantic to clarify the mistake least he somehow make Tina think that Laven was as much of a sex-crazed degenerate like him.

Kat hesitated and her cheeks were hot, and pinker than she was used to. “...I...have not ever...thought about...it. I...I just want to hold hands with both of you...and be...close!” She covered her cheeks with her hands and hid her eyes for a moment. “...I have never...felt the...desire for intimacy I...I do not know…”
Kisses, yes. Cuddling? Absolutely. Someone to rest against while they played with her hair...oh, she would just die. “...Can I not...be in love with you both and without desiring intimacy…? I am...wrong in all things...aren't I?”
She couldn’t speak English and didn’t ever feel like perfecting it. She was addicted to starseeds and had gotten Wolf shot. And now she had offended him, or upset him. And she knew Laven would never be hers…
Neither of them would.
Her shoulders slumped and Kat looked down at the ground. “...I have ruined everything. I am...sorry. I do not wish to lose you. Not by death or my foolishness...You two are all that I have.”

"Shhh. Please don't cry, Tina. I just - it's okay. Nothing you feel is wrong. It's right because it's your feelings and you're feeling them is great. You aren't loosing anyone here." He said, moving best he could, if not stiffly, to try and hug her.

] Kat allowed the hug, though sniffed quietly, pressing against him as gently as she could. “...I am sorry.” If he really believed that, really thought that she wouldn’t lose either of them...well. That made it easier to breathe honestly.
“...I am no good. No good with...expressing my wants. I am not good at...any of this. I do not...do not wish to be alone. You and Laven…”
She hiccuped and drew away from the hug, wiping at her eyes. “...You are the world to me. Thank you...for saying I will not lose you…”
It meant the world.
She’d have to find Laven and apologize too but...but at least...Wolf didn’t hate her...that…
That was very good indeed.
