Chip's latest project was nearing fruition, and he was very pleased with himself this time.

Never mind the fact that he was always pleased with himself at this point in a project, and don't think too hard about that little flying saucer he had placed in the corner of his workshop with its little scorch marks and slightly crumpled ventral curves.

He'd been working on changing his workshop now that he had access to fingers, and now (perhaps from spending too much time watching movies and reading things in between projects) resembled some sort of ridiculous magic knick-knacks shop with myriad devices, parts, and mostly unidentifiable crystalline things.

He still made room for his Coffee Fabricator (truthfully, it wasn't going anywhere, so what he'd arranged was built around it), and he kept a nice open space in the middle for larger projects, and because he liked his "VR" projection system he'd built a while back.

For now, though, he wanted to 'stretch his legs' a little, and go for a walk. He thought about going and bothering Chara, but decided nahh. No need to get doted on right now. In spite of not having a specific need for a test subject, he still exploded out of his door as if he was going to abduct some poor lieutenant again. Having hands and enough size to actually slam open doors was very satisfying.

And there was a captain right there! "Oh! I don't know you!" he declared. I should make people come introduce themselves, he thought briefly, but then he wouldn't get the joy of randomly discovering people. "Nice hat!"

For the most part, Fettelite didn’t really venture out of his room, or through the barracks these days. Now that he could teleport in and out of the Negaverse all on his own, the need to be here *all the time*, or being stranded without much of a choice was a rarity!

But he was here today after a particularly rough scolding, to rest and to patch himself up before heading back down to the city. At one point, though, his stomach began to rumble, and he had no choice but to head towards the mess area, desiring something from the sub-par choices they had... Once he went back home, he could cook a proper meal, but healing always went faster here

Halfway to the kitchen, a door EXPLODED in front of him, nearly whapping him in the face! And then, there was a child.

.... Weird!

“I don’t think I know you either! Hello! I like your hat too!” Fettelite beamed at the child, giving him a little nod to the hat that sat on his own fluffy hair between a pair of cat ears. OH! That meant it was a Mauvian, wasn’t it? “Why are you running out of that room so fast? Did you need something?”

Chip beamed at the compliment, ever pleased to have his hat appreciated. "Need something?" He echoed. "Oh! Yeah! I need feedback," he explained. "See, I've been building stuff, and an important step before finishing is showing off!" He grinned, but quickly amended, "I mean making sure what I've made is good and useful!"

He turned back toward his door, still hanging open, and gestured for the captain to follow. "My name's Chip, by the way, and this is my workshop!"

Within the room, the mauvian had been busy...in addition to his big open presentation area and his Coffee Fabricator (which had a nice little alcove for the Product Retrieval), he set up a smallish counter to one side, with a bunch of random things upon it, above it, and near it. Like some kind of D&D magic items shop.

"Tada!" He declared, arms open wide. "What do ya think?"

Of course, he neglected to specify what exactly he was showing off...

Fettelite didn't hesitate to follow behind Chip, looking around at the little workshop. It was quite cramped, all things considered, but if this little child was a Mauvian most of the time, then it would make sense he didn't need all that much space.

"Hello Chip, I'm Fettelite! You can call me Fettel, or whatever floats your boat!" At the urging to take a look around, he did just that, looking at all the bits and baubles, from the Coffee Fabricator, to the random item shelf, to the strange little stadium area near the floor, that looked like some sort of projector, but he honestly could not tell.

"I think it's all very amazing!! Did you make this all yourself? I mean, you said you were building stuff, but this is all very fascinating and incredible if you did this all on your own!"

"Yup! Sure did!" Chip replied with a grin and a nod. "But, uh..." his ears tilted down and out just a little for a brief moment. "I decided I'd make a magic shop sort of thing," he pressed on with just as much enthusiasm as before. "I read some stories on the internet that had them, and it sounded fun! And useful!" He gestured to his assorted junk, and magical absurdity.

"I mean, I'm not really gonna sell stuff. You guys don't have anything I want, really, aside from manual labor sometimes and stories. But I'm gonna spread the word that people should come here, tell me what they need done, and I'll figure it out!"

((Completed the RP on Discord, the posts are as follows))

Kapoodles —
"A magic shop? That's neat! If you were to sell it on Earth, you could probably make alot of money! People love magic AND cute kittens! And you doing both would be super popular!" But it did make sense not to sell it... Part of him bet that the Negaverse Leaders would try to steal his money!

... Or maybe not, since kittens were cute and apparently super valuable to the Negaverse.

"What kinda things do you make? Have you ever made things for like... The Youma too?" A small, tiny idea sparked in his head, and he doubted it was possible... But he could try!

Tolin —
"I make everything!" Chip replied proudly. "Launchers and flying saucers and coffee!" He nodded. "I haven't really made much of anything for Youma, haven't done much with them, really. most of them don't like me for some reason...although this one furry captain likes me, and so does a really big Dino-guy. Do you have your own youma? Need like...a riding harness or something?"

The kid's grin got bigger as he imagined riding into battle on a big monster. Or, at least, riding around town.

Kapoodles —
"Everything, huh...?" His thoughts traveled to his friend, his youma, who was off doing... Who knows what, really.

"I do have a youma! He used to be a person like me... But some bad things happened and he got turned into a youma... Here, I'll show you." With only a thought, Fettelite summoned Shoal to him, holding him in his arms as if to display the somewhat long Lizardy thing off. "His name is Shoal, and he's a good boy, and was an even better boy when he was human."

He gave the youma a little nuzzles with his own face to the top of his head, mainly holding him in place so he wouldn't go roaming about the tiny shop.

"... Do you think maybe you can make something that would let him talk to me again? Like... Like those movies that have talking dogs, or cats! You know, Up! They had little voice box things! I miss my friend's voice so much... I'd pay anything you'd like!"

Tolin —
The lizardy little youma was...licking a crystal in the rift when he got the summons. Thus, when he appeared in the grasp of Fettelite, a blue tongue was still out in the air, and it stayed there a moment as he sniffed and looked around. He squirmed a little and made a small growl at the presence of the Mauvian. There was something about that creature that was unsettling, but it wasn't enough to cause outright hostility.

"Oh!" Chip declared, grinning, and took a step closer. "Aren't you a cool looking little guy?" He asked. Shoal just huffed at him..and then snapped lightly at the finger Chip wiggled in his face.

"You want him to talk?" Chip asked, stepping back, and slowly circling around his two visitors, rubbing his chin, tail flicking as he considered. "I might be able to manage that, yeah...hmm...I'll need to do some scans, build a few things. You'll need to get me some nice crystals from out in the rift, definitely..."

Kapoodles —
“No, no, Shoal! Chip is a friend. We don’t snap at our friends!” Fettelite lightly scolded his youma, turning him around with ease in his arm, as if cradling an oversized baby, and pressing his nose to Shoal’s own... Sorta nose area. He wouldn’t dare punish him, but he could overly dote on the Youma.

After a moment of making unnecessary cooing sounds at him, Fettel looked back to Chip with a nod. “Mhm! I want him to talk! I can get you anything you need! But... What kinda scan? I don’t think he likes to sit still for too long.

Tolin —
Shoal made a sort of growling harumph noise in reply to the scolding, and chomped the air discontentedly...but didn't do much else in that moment.

"Well, I haven't really studied the youma much, so I need to see how they stick together to make something..." Chip started pacing around as he talked. He pulled out of the air a tablet, which he poked at briefly, and then a glowing 3D map of the castle they were in appeared in the middle of the room. "Oop." He swished a hand through and it disappeared. After a bit more poking, a little translucent box materialized, and Chip walked right into it.

"Just stick him right here, and my computers will do their thing. He won't feel anything."

"...Probably."

Kapoodles —
"I see... Well... If it's going to help Shoal out then I guess we have to." He still hesitated though, looking more and more uncertain, especially since Chip mentioned it probably wouldn't hurt. He had his doubts.

"Could I maybe go in with him? You know, hold him if he gets scared? I don't want him getting mad and chomping anything."

Tolin —
"Yeah, that's fine," Chip says with a nod and a wave toward the little spot. "Somebody told me I should think about what you humans are like more often, so some scans would help! And besides, he won't run away if you're holding him, right?"

He took a few steps away and waited expectantly, while the youma seemed rather restless in Fettelite's grasp.
October 21, 2020

Kapoodles —
"That's true. He should behave properly." Fettelite had the utmost trust in his friend, but... Youma could truly be temperamental at times. If Shoal didn't want to be contained, he wouldn't. But that's why he had his own little secret weapon. From his little pocket space, he pulled out bag and from that bag, he removed a nice big piece of beef jerky.

"He's going to be a good boy, isn't he?" He cooed at Shoal, before carrying him with one arm into the the box and sitting down, then handing over the piece for Shoal to chew on.

"Alright, best to do the scan now before he gets too restless!"

Tolin —
"Youma eat food?" Chip asked, surprise in his voice as he watched Shoal sniff at the morsel, and then regard Fettelite balefully for not giving it up right then...all the same, the Youma does stand still where ordered, and Chip taps something on his tablet, causing a few scifi sweeping lights things to start moving around.

"I don't really need the lights," Chip explains, eyeing the youma watching them sweep around. "I just thought it looked cool."
October 24, 2020

Kapoodles —
“Not many, but he likes it, cuz he’s a good sweet boy.” Fettelite nodded to himself, scratching under Shoal’s chin then finally giving him the piece of Jerky he was teasing him with.

“It does look very, very cool! Blinks lights make everything cooler. Like motorcycles and dance battles! But may I ask, when’d told you think it’ll be done? The um device so my shoal can think?”

Tolin —
The jerky quickly disappeared with a small chomp as the lights continued to swirl..and for the moment, Shoal remained where he was, as if deeply considering the flavor and texture of the thing in his mouth.

"Oh, he can think now," Chip replied, studying the swirl of information as it coalesced on his little screen. "It's just what he thinks isn't very useful...or clear." He shook his head, tapping his chin. "Hmm...I think...I can whip something up in about...four days or so? Yeah, that sounds right. Nobody's got me doing any Big Official Business or anything right now, and this sounds like a fun challenge!"(edited)

Kapoodles —
"So it's more like... You're gonna help him organize those thoughts, so he can speak them? How does the speaking work? I don't think he has the mouth features to make sounds like we do." ... Then again, neither did cats when they were small and more cat-like. Maybe he was thinking about it all too much.

"So four days. I can wait that long! I'll wait as long as it takes to get Shoal talking!" He reached out to his youma friend, giving him the tiniest of pats on the top of his head. If this worked... Then they were one step closer to reaching the goal of getting Milo back... No matter what it took, it would be worth it!

Tolin —
A little egg timer ding sounded from somewhere, and all the sweeping lights stopped. "Okay!" Chip declared, as Shoal twitched and looked around with a glare for whatever strange creation had the gall to ding at him... "I've got the scans I need. I scanned you too, while I was at it, for comparisons, you know." He nodded.

"Voices aren't hard. Just sprinkle a bit of magic in there, and walla," his pronunciation of voila seemed ever so slightly off, "it just works! Although...he probably won't have the voice of the human he was."

Kapoodles —
"That's alright. Any voice is better than none." Fettelite nodded to himself, picking up Shoal from the little area and holding him in his arms once more.

"Where do you even get magic from? And do you need me to do anything in the mean time?"

Tolin —
"Oh, from these," Chip says, a little glowing crystal like one might find outside the castle appearing in his hand, "They provide a lot, though often need time to recharge themselves. And yeah! I could use a few more of these, if you could take a wander out in negaspace, in the rift or whatever, and find me some new spooky glowing crystals, that'd be real helpful."

Shoal squirmed in Fettelite's grasp, although seemed a bit used to being handled in this way, as he didn't protest too much, just made a sort of huff noise, and stared at the mauvian with a nonplussed look.
October 27, 2020

Kapoodles —
“That sounds like a mission for me and Shoal! We’ll come back with a whole bunch of them, okay? And anything else you need!” He waited for a moment, processing a thought while idly petting the top of Shoal’s head.

“Hey, do you think we could keep this a secret for now? Secret experiments we shouldn’t really let the big bosses see, you know?” The thought of keeping anything secret scared him, honestly. What if his old general found out? ... The daily beatings had finally died down, he could only imagine what would happen if he were caught trying to make Shoal human again.

Then again, he hadn’t exactly said his whole purpose, so that should be enough.

Tolin —
Chip nodded at the suggestion of a mission, though his eyes were already focused on his little tablet...which seemed like its display was warping out from it a bit. The mention of secrets, though, caused him to look up again, ears perked up a little, and tail swishing with amusement. "A secret mission, huh?" he replied, and then giggled. "Sure! Sounds fun~"

Kapoodles —
“Thank you! Really, thank you thank you! If there’s anything else you can think of that you need, please let me know!” Fettelite nodded again, then looked down to his youma, giving him small smile, and a small peck to the top of his head.

“Come on, Let’s go treasure hunting okay? We’ll be back in no time!” And with that, he immediately teleported out of the room, Shoal in tow, heading towards the doorway to the Rift.

Tolin —
Chip blinked at the kiss, but didn't think much of it...and waved to the empty air before setting to work...This would be an interesting challenge, and one he had no intention of backing down from.
