While being out alone was dangerous, Sadalsuud had at least tried to mitigate things somewhat by picking a part of the park that had a direct path to a mirror. She had even made sure that there was a backup mirror within close proximity - well okay make that close-ish - although the evening had been quiet so far, enough so that she was starting to feel a little silly for being so cautious–
At least right up until the point when she remembered the rescue mission that she had been part of - and what had happened to their Princess and to the Dark Mirror that had been with her.
She would have told Sinope about it, had she been able to get in contact with him, but she hadn’t seen him since the strange rainbow aurora that had painted over the skies a couple of christmases back and she wasn’t really as close to that many others in the Court, although she liked and respected Miss Acubens and was friends with Kiuchi.
There was another amongst the Court that she considered a friend - one that she hadn’t seen in mia while - and whilst she couldn’t guarantee that Merkeb would be out patrolling tonight, it would be nice to have company if she was.
With that in mind she pulled out her compact and tried to contact the other senshi "Merkeb, are you out patrolling tonight by any chance? Would you like any company?"

Merkeb summoned her compact once she heard the sound of a familiar voice. “I kinda am…” she replied warrily, side glancing at the wraith floating next to her.
It kind of felt like she had just been caught with her hand in the cookie jar, procrastinating on something she should be doing in lieu of something fun instead. But it was such a beautiful, cloudless night; how could she truly resist bring her telescope out on since an evening?
“If you’d like to come to the beach, I can show you something really cool!” At least to her it was. Uranus was rising at the moment and she had just focused her telescope so they could see it clearly. The wraith beside her seemed rather unamused but it would get over it, or so she assumed. “I have a mirror set up next to the driftwood benches at the north end.”

It hadn’t taken long for Merkeb to answer, although her fellow dark mirror senshi’s head was initially turned to the side, almost as if distracted by something - and for a moment Sadalsuud was worried that she had picked a bad time to compact ping her friend–
At least up until mention of the beach.
"Yes I can do that" she said cheerfully with a smile, mind drifting for a moment on the the different mirrors that she knew of, although she thought that she knew of the mirror that the other was referring to "I’ll see you in a few minutes" because it would take about that long to reach the nearest mirror.
It was almost four minutes if anyone was counting, the surroundings shifting from the park that she had been in to that of the beach, the soles of her shoes leaving a series of footprints in the sand as she made her way over to the source of the other dark mirror aura.

Merkeb looked up from her telescope the moment she felt an aura flare to life nearby. While it was still blessedly dark out, she could kind of make out the silhouette of her fellow Dark Mirror Senshi. “Over here,” she waived from the edge of the near water where the sand was just damp enough to keep her telescope from sinking.
Beside her, about six feet closer to dry land than she was, there had been a towel laid out with a bag opened up revealing different sized lenses, a few books and a laptop that was currently in screensaver mode.

She hadn't been walking for very long when she caught sight of movement from close to the water's edge followed by the sound of a familiar voice.
"Hi Merkeb," she called back, her gloved hand raised in a wave of her own, the other senshi's features coming into focus as she got closer, green eyes taking in the telescope before glancing over to take in the lenses in the partially opened bag and the books and the laptop, her lips quirking up in a slightly wider smile as she caught sight of the screensaver.
And she couldn't remember if she'd mentioned her upgrade to the other senshi, given that it had been a while.
"How are you? Thanks for agreeing to meet up."

“Definitely not a problem!” Goodness, how time had flown since the last time she remembered seeing Sadal was well over a year ago. “I’ll be honest I was a bit surprised since it’s been a while but I’m glad you reached out. It looks like congratulations might be in order.”
Merkeb looked her friend over appraisingly noting the change in uniform design as well as her stronger aura. “Is this new?” She asked, not entirely sure how one got stronger without actually fighting; something she wasn’t inclined to do because, even now, she hadn’t quite figured out the mechanics of her magic.
Aside from powering up from time to time and bringing a wraith along with her, there really wasn’t much involvement the Senshi of Wishes had with this war they were apparently involved in. Being chased by the White Moon senshi was enough to make her just run and hide after what happened this last December. It was only by sheer luck that she had made a full recovery and her ability to dance wasn’t compromised.

"It has been a while" Sadalsuud admitted, a slightly sheepish note creeping into her voice as she admitted "I don't always get out to patrol as much as I probably should." It had been simpler in some ways when she had first awakened, but her classes and subsequent class work seemed to take up so much more of her time now she was no longer in high school.
In fact if it wasn't for Sinope having seemingly gone missing then Sadalsuud knew that she probably would have patrolled even less than the small amount that she currently did, although it was something that she was hoping to rectify - at some point.
She shook her head slightly at the question of whether her super status was new "Not exactly" she admitted "I mean, it didn't happen yesterday or anything like that but I haven't been like this for that long."
Her smile turned sheepish as she admitted "It's still hard to believe though sometimes" particularly as she wasn't nearly as strong as some of the others in their court "But the star cat was pretty insistent."
Her lips turned down in a slight frown as something else occurred to her "By the way has anyone told you about recent court happenings?"
Because the kidnapping of their princess and another court member was something that her friend should probably know about.

“No,” Merkeb blinked back in surprise. Until this very moment she had no idea anything was amiss. Then again, thinking on it for a moment, she wasn’t sure any of them had a way to contact her unless powered up; with the exception of Sadal perhaps.
The Dark Mirror Court was small in comparison to the White Moon or Negaverse factions, or whatever they called themselves. It didn’t matter how scattered the senshi or their knights were, they still had the numbers which probably made it easier to stay connected to each other in some capacity.
Nonetheless, powering up was a difficult thing to do sometimes when you’re left feeling like a dud. As shameful as it was to admit, Merkeb still didn’t really understand the limitations of her magic; which nearly cost her dearly when one of those Knights attacked her last winter. Early on the two of them had tried to figure it out, but determining which wishes were valid proved to be kind of fruitless in the end.
“What’s going on?” She asked, brows knitting in concern.

"Miss Acubens sent out an alert on the compacts about Miss Leto" Sadalsuud said quietly, her face uncharacteristically solemn "Because she’d gone missing and one of the others who answered the call mentioned that a knight was going around targeting court members."
She shivered unconsciously as she continued "And I think it may have been the same knight because it turned out that a knight had taken her and another from the Court."
A pause, before she continued "I.. I’m not much of a fighter" not that she had ever pretended to be "So while Miss Acubens and Romulus took on the knight, I went looking for Miss Leto and found the two of them and.."
Another brief hesitation before she blurted out "And it was horrible the things that the knight did to them," she bit her lip before adding "But there was an Order senshi there too, one that Miss Acubens and Miss Leto seemed to know and she helped us."
It was something that Sadalsuud still found a little hard to believe, because up until her meeting with Navi her encounters with Order hadn’t exactly been positive.

Merkeb seemed a bit taken aback by this news and for a moment she stood there just absorbing the information. The sound of waves lapping against the shoreline filled the air with its white noise.
“I had no idea,” she admitted after some time. Just how far removed was she from the Dark Mirror Court?
Since their run in with the Queen and her crystal guards, Merkeb had made little to no effort to keep in contact with the others that were held captive that day. In truth, she only really recognized Sadal and Remarque by name and face; everyone else was a bit of a blur.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that…” Knights were terrifying in that regard. The lengths they go to for their cause were astounding. Last December one had managed to her put in the hospital for several days; nearly stole from Merkeb her dancing career. “Everyone is home now though right? You made it there in time so they’re safe yes?”

It had seemed oh so very quiet in the wake of her words, with the only noise coming from the waves lapping against the sand.
Although given the information that she had just passed on it was perhaps not really that surprising–
Because whilst Sadalsuud knew that she didn't know the full story and had only really been there to give what help she could to the rescue, what she and the Order senshi Navi had uncovered in that room was a full story in itself.
"Yes we managed to rescue them" she said in answer to the question that had broken the temporary silence "Miss Acubens and Romulus took on the knight and the Order senshi helped me to find the Princess and the other senshi that had been taken."
She bit her lip before admitting "I.. Actually didn't want to trust the Order senshi at first because I haven't had very good experiences with them before" and for a moment her mind supplied images of first the scary, shouty senshi that had attacked her for no reason and then the one that had targeted Miss Kitten before Sadalsuud shook her her head in an attempt to try and dismiss them.
"But this one really seemed to be ok and Miss Acubens and Miss Leto both seemed to know her."

Out of habit Merkeb crossed her arms in front of her chest to keep from fidgeting. Her dry lips had been pursed into a thin “I’m glad she helped you find them. But for me it’s not really enough to trust any of them.” The Senshi of Wishes offered her friend a rueful smile then turned to watch the cresting waves as it approached the beach.
Truth be told the only reason she powered up was because of this ‘fast travel’ ability they had when jumping through mirrors. Otherwise, be it out of shame and embarrassment or fear even, Merkeb went above and beyond to avoid practically anyone who had powered signature, even one matching her own. “Until I can understand my magic better I don’t think I will ever trust any of them.” All it took was one hospital visit to close her off to the notion, or idea, that there may be some trustworthy allies in the unlikeliest of places.
“I’m just glad you’re safe and that the White Moon Senshi didn’t turn on you.” Even though it had been a long while since the two of them had spoken, she would have been undoubtedly heartbroken if Sadal had been hurt; or worse… She was simply too kind hearted to deserve such a fate.

Sadalsuud managed a faint, but small smile in response "I’m glad that we all got out okay too" she admitted, because horrible as it had been, a part of her knew that it could have all gone so much worse.
"And if you ever want the help trying to figure out your magic then I’m still happy to try and help you figure it out" her smile turned rueful as she admitted "Even if I still don’t really know how my own magic works - the closest I’ve gotten is that it seems to be linked to luck somehow."
Because it had helped her out against the horrible senshi that had targeted Miss Kitten - at least Sadalsuud wanted to believe that it had.

“I appreciate the offer, I really do. But I should probably reach out to Remarque first and see if he might have any ideas for me to try first.” Merkeb still remembered the first day she met Sadal. Two newly appointed Dark Mirror Senshi without a clue on what was going on. How little things have changed, at least for herself, in that regard.
“I’ll let you know what he says ok? Then we can go from there!” Now was about as good of a time as any to take things more seriously. Fast travel through mirror walking was a blessid perk but running around blind to the things affecting her court was definitely not ok.

Sadalsuud nodded "That makes sense" she agreed, because Mr Rem knew a lot about things and was the nicest Prince that she knew–Well okay he was also the only Prince that she knew - but that didn’t make the fact that he was nice any less valid.
"And I’d like that" she added, in answer to Merkeb telling her that she would let her know what Mr Rem said, because she had meant the offer to try and help her friend figure out her magic.
"Also I’m up for doing a general patrol if you ever want the company, or just to hang out like this" her lips quirked up in a rueful smile as she admitted "Even if I am not always that great on the patrol front since I don’t always get out quite as much as I should."
Sadalsuud was willing to try and be better about it though - to try and strike a better balance between classes and the Court - and besides company on patrols always made for more pleasant patrols.

“You’re no doubt a lot better than I am when it comes to patrols.” Merkeb admitted unashamedly by the fact. Aside from Sadalsuud, she really didn’t have much in the way of friends in the Dark Mirror court let alone a mentor to help her along the way. If anything, her existence in the court was simply to make use of the mirror walking technique so she could easily get around.
Truth be told she simply didn’t care about this so-called war they were supposed to be fighting in. Nobody really ever told her what side they were on or why so why bother with it? The mirrors were a tool to be used to get away from a potentially dangerous situation and to taxi her to places like this so she could just enjoy her hobby in peace. It’s not like her wraith was going to tattle on her to anyone; the ghost-like creature couldn’t even speak to her knowledge.
Sadalsuud was like a pure soul compared to her. Where Merkeb functioned outside the rules in the shadows where nobody looked, wandering aimlessly while having enough of a presence to be considered while not really doing anything; the Senshi of Clovers at least had a purpose and direction. She kind of envied her friend for that but at the same time felt happy that Sadalsuud had reason to be more involved.
“I would definitely like to hang out with you more,” Merkeb nudged her friend teasingly with her elbow. “I’m just not sure I would be the best person to have around if things got hairy. I’m a dancer, not a fighter. I’d rather make crafts with my hands then punch someone in the face.”She tried to keep a straight face but ultimately failed by the end of the last statement.

Sadalsuud wasn’t sure she agreed with Merkeb’s assessment that she was better than her on the patrol front as she really wasn’t that great, but she didn’t argue the point either.
Unlike some of the others of the court, Sadalsuud didn’t have that many connections. There was Mr Rem, Merkeb herself and Kiuchi–
And there was Sinope, but there wasn’t really anyone else and she hadn’t seen him in practically forever.
The nudge startled her out of her melancholy thoughts and Sadalsuud shook her head slightly as she tried to ignore the familiar sadness that she still felt over Sinope.
She laughed at Merkeb’s confession that she wasn’t a fighter, pushing the last thoughts of Sinope out of her mind for now. The laughter wasn’t unkind however and Sadalsuud’s voice was rueful as she admitted "That makes two of us then" because by absolutely no stretch of the imagination could she be called a fighter.
