The King Town Mines have been around for a little over fifty years now, and are abundant in both precious stones as well as wild Pokémon. The miners work hard to work safely around the natural denizens of the tunnels, and the Pokémon in turn leave the people to their own devices. The mine is open to the public, but extreme caution is advised to anyone trying to enter the deepest parts of the tunnels, which actually connect to a massive underground network that stretches far across the region. Make sure to be safe out there, and wear a hard hat!

Cave Mining Game
If you happen to posses an Explorer's Kit, you may test your luck mining the cave for treasure. Three times per month, you may roll a random number between one and a one hundred when you post here to see what your trainer finds while exploring. "So, here's your hard hats, and pick axe. If you follow Clement there, he'll show you where to start digging."Laram thanked the foreman and put his hard hat on. After he adjusted it to fit, he made sure to put the smaller hard hats on his Pokemon. He had decided that Ronin, Sun, and Thor would give him a hand on this job, and he placed each of their protective gear on their heads. His Wimpod was good at sniffing things out. His Elekid was a natural light source, and his Chimchar could help break up the rocks with Rock Smash. Laram couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of his team in hard hats, but pushed past it and walked up to who the foreman said was Clement."Hi, the foreman told me to speak to you. You're supposed to show me where I'll be working.""Ayep. You jus' wanna head down that way, take a left, then a right. Then jus' go straight until the tunnel ends. Tha's where you be working. You got a light so you can see down there?"Laram smiled and nodded."Yep. My Elekid can use Flash.
"Tha's good. You'll be wantin' that ta see down there. Just make sure you keep safe, and turn in anything you find. Have a good one." Laram thanked Clement and followed his directions until he came to the end of the tunnel the worker specified. The rock and dirt was loose, from what he could tell; so he started by having Ronin sniff at the soil to see if there was anything of worth around them. After the scuttle bug notified him that there was nothing, he hacked away at the area with his pick axe, digging up what he could. Any big rocks, he had his Chimchar smash up with Rock Smash. He and his team worked this way until Ronin signaled that he found something in a large stone. Laram ordered Sun to use Rock Smash on it, and after the simian punched it, the stone cracked, revealling a reddish-orange stone inside. Laram carefully worked at it with his pickaxe until he plucked it out."I think this might be something. Let's go show the foreman.' After walking back to the main area, the trainer wiped his brow as he showed the stone to his temporary boss. "Good find kid. That's a Sun Stone. We don't need it, so you can keep it. Now that I think about it, I think I have another job for you if you're interested."

"So we've been having trouble with Sableye in the area. They have been terrorizing my crews as well as the local Carbink. I need a trainer to go in and scare them off. Do you think that would be something you are interested in?""Of course. We'll deal with the Sableye. How many are there?"The foreman scratched his chin at the question. Laram simply wanted to get as much information as he could, so that he could do the job more effectively. It wouldn't help anyone if he didn't get all of them."Let me think...I'd say there's probably three of them, from the reports I'm getting."Three seemed like a manageable number. But the trainer wondered how just three Pokemon could cause enough havoc to warrant paying someone to deal with them. But he pushed past the thought. It wasn't for him to decide what was worth what to someone else. He simply had to be willing to do the job, or not."Do you have any clues as to where they might be living? It might make my search a little quicker.""Yeah, whenever we run them off, they always disappear down that tunnel."
The foreman motioned with his elbow towards a lone tunnel that had no torches or lights to light it up."Sableye hate the light. So much so that they will run away from it at all costs. The only reason we don't have lights down that tunnel is because they always get rid of them behind us. Look, here's a box of torches. See what you can do huh?"Laram nodded, and the man left; off to deal with some other business, no doubt. Life in the mine sure seemed like it never slowed down. Laram released his Diggersby so that he could help by carrying the box of torches for them. If Sableye didn't like lights, that gave him an idea. All the trainer had to do, his Pokedex informed him that the Pokemon were ghost types. That meant that they could probably pass through solid objects for a little bit. Laram and his team set off in the dark. When it became so dark that they could no longer see, he released his Pansage and had the monkey and his Elekid use Flash to light their way. At once, he heard a hissing and scratching sound from all around him, and he knew that he had found what he was looking for. It was spooky, but the trainer ignored the sounds and found the end of the tunnel. A very large boulder covered the entire mouth, and blocked the rest of the way forward. This was the spot.
Laram informed his Pansage and Elekid to dim their lights and let them go out. His Pokemon looked unsure, but at Laram's nod, they obeyed. Once they did, there was absolutely no light whatsoever in the tunnel. It was what Laram wanted. The hissing got louder, until Laram could hear the sound of little feet in front of him. He listened very carefully and was sure that he could hear three sets in front of the boulder. The Pokemon cried out, and attacked, which was what the trainer was waiting for."Thor, Thorn, Flash; as bright as you can!"Laram's Pokemon jumped forward and shined themselves with as much willpower as they could muster. The vast difference in light caused Laram to get dazed for a second. But he noticed three small figures hiding their faces from the bright lights. These were the Sableye no doubt. The trainer wasted no time and cried out for his Diggersby and Chimchar to attack."Baldur, use Bulldoze on them. Sun, Acrobatics."At his command, the jackrabbit and chimp leapt forward. Baldur reeled back with his mighty ear fist and slammed the ground, hard. As he did, an orange shockwave lurched forward and hit all three defending Sableye, knocking them into the air backwards. It was at that moment that Sun nimbly launched himself at each individual and struck them with a series of punches and kicks, blasting them back into the large boulder behind them. This seemed to be enough for the trio as they hissed and disappeared behind the large stone. But Laram knew that this wasn't any time to sit around. He had to move quickly to make sure they would never come back.
"Everybody hurry. Grab a torch and let Sun light them up."Laram and his team grabbed as many of the light sources as they could and the trainer had his Chimchar light them with his flame. Then, trainer and team made their way back to the main entrance, lighting the tunnel the whole way. But before they left, Laram noticed that one of the Sableye dropped a curious looking pink stone and he placed it in his pack. Once they were out of the tunnel, Laram found the foreman and informed him of what they had done."Good work son. Johnny. Johnny! Get a team down there with a full lighting kit. I want that place lit up more than Christmas."Laram waited until the foreman was finished and accepted his payment. He then showed the peculiar stone to him."Another good find kid. That's a mega stone. Why don't you keep it for doing such a good jobe?"Laram thanked him and placed the stone back into his pack. He made a mental note to learn what a mega stone was later."Listen kid, you've shown yourself to be pretty reliable. I have another job I think you can help me with. What do you say?"

"Listen. The other day one of our tunnels collapsed and we need the help of a trainer and their Pokemon to clear it out. My miners are really hard workers, but they are NOT great trainers. I can tell you have some great Pokemon kid. Can you help me out?""Of course we will. Where's the collapsed tunnel?"The foreman pointed off towards deeper in the mine where a lot of workers were gathering. Laram thanked the man and jogged off in that direction. Once he met up with everyone there, he introduced himself."Hi there. I'm Laram; the foreman told me to give you guys a hand."The man that Laram met up with crossed his arms over his chest and frowned. "You're a bit scrawny for this job, don't you think? I don't know why the foreman keeps hiring people off the street. We're more than capable of finishing this job without needing some pipsqueak's help."The man was really rude, but Laram gritted his teeth and pushed past the insult."I'm guessing he put me on this job because I'm a trainer and my Pokemon can do your job faster than you can."
Laram released his Diggersby, Chimchar, and Elekid in front of him, honestly, to show off a bit. He was a little annoyed at the miner's attitude, and just wanted to get to work. The miner huffed, but showed Laram to the collapsed part of the tunnel. Laram could see why the foreman wanted his help. There were a lot of rocks too big for a human to lift. So Laram had his Diggersby lift some of the larger stones and place them down so Sun and Thor could break them up. Once this was done Laram, with the help of some of the other miners, lifted the stones into a wheelbarrow and brought the rubble into the main mine shaft. It was back breaking work, but after a couple of hours, the rubble started to thin out, and they could see the other side of the tunnel. With a little pep talk from the foreman, everyone managed to finish out the work with relative ease. Laram and his Pokemon were tired, but glad to have finished their task. The foreman thanked the trainer for his hard work and paid him once again."Thanks. I think my team and I are just about finished for today..."Laram was cut short by the sound of a roar and the rumbling of the entire mine. Before being able to figure out the source of the disturbance, a very large metal Pokemon burst through the wall of the mine and roared once again. Laram couldn't believe the size of the Pokemon, and scanned it with his Pokedex. He learned that it was called a Steelix as it began tearing through the scaffolding used by the miners. It was clearly upset."You gotta help us with this thing. You're our best chance at fixing this. None of my guys are real trainers."

We have to be careful. Baldur can't use earthquake in here, it might destabilize the whole mine. But we have to restrict its' movements. Thorn and Sun are going to have to do a lot of that. It seems to be made up of different rotating metal pieces. If we attack at those junctions, we could possibly wear this thing down. It has the ground typing, so Thor's lightning won't affect it. Trying to blind it right now would be a bad idea too. We don't want it going even more berserk than it is. For now, we have to try to slow it down. "Galahad, distract it. Ronin, Baldur, use Surf to try to force it to stop moving. Thor, Light Screen."The idea was to slow down the Steelix. Maybe they could get it to just leave if they were annoying enough. The steel snake was massive, and immensely powerful. Laram's team snapped into action at his commands, with his Wimpod and Diggersby jumping into the forefront of the battle. The pair stared down their opponent as large torrents of water began to swirl around them like a typhoon. The attacks merged together and created a decent sized wall of water that cascaded towards the Steelix. Simultaneously, Laram's Elekid leapt behind the creature and created a wall of light, large enough to span from the floor to the ceiling of the mine. The water collided with the metal snake, slamming it into the force field Laram's Pokemon created. The creature roared in rage, but was pinned between the two attacks. "Thorn, now! Leech Seed, aim for its' joints!"
The green simian crouched for a second, before launching into the air and throwing large brown seeds from above the Steelix. The Pansage started at the base of its' tail, and ran up the Pokemon's body; attaching seeds everywhere he could. Once they touched the Steelix's tough, outer shell, they all sprouted vines and began to wrap the large Pokemon up. Laram knew this wasn't going to hold it for long, but the trainer wasn't finished yet."Everyone clear out. Sun, Fire Spin, as big as you can make it."The chimp nodded and breathed in as hard as he could. After gathering himself for his attack, he loosed a spiraling blaze from his maw that Laram didn't know he was capable of. Impressed, the trainer watched as the flames surrounded the thirty foot long steel Pokemon and incased it in torrential flames; stopping it entirely. Again, the creature roared its' frustration and the entire mine shook from the force. But Laram could see it weakening. One more assault would put it over the edge. The trainer reached into his pack and pulled out the special pokeball he had been saving. If there was ever a time to use it, it was now. He couldn't count on the Steelix just leaving. He needed to capture it to make sure it wouldn't come back. All of Laram's Pokemon gathered around him, and he braced them."Get in a line, you're going to attack in succession. Ronin, use Surf at the ground to trip it. Next, Thor, use Screech in its' face. After him, Sun will use Flamethrower from the ground. Keep it busy. Thorn, use your biggest Seed Bomb in its' back, and Baldur, jump as high as you can and use Hammer arm from above. Our timing is going to have to be perfect. Be ready."
The Steelix broke through Sun's Fire Spin, but Laram's team was ready and executed Laram's plan. Attack after attack hammered into Steelix, ending with Baldur hammering the Pokemon into the ground. The trainer wasted no time, and hucked his Ultra Ball, encasing the Pokemon in a flash of red light. The Pokeball shook for ten seconds before settling. Laram picked up the capsule and sighed. He had done it. Laram placed Steelix in his pack and returned to the manager."Phew. That was a crazy sight to see. You have more than earned your pay today. I would imagine you want to get some sleep huh? The day has gotten away from us."Laram rubbed his neck and silently agreed. He hadn't noticed, but he was really exhausted. It felt like he had been underground for a couple months. The trainer settled up with the manager, and received all that he was owed, and even got a dawn stone for his troubles. As the trainer exited the mine, he set his sights on the Pokemon Center, and slowly made his way to the building.

Laram craned his neck as he stretched his back. He and his Pokemon had been down in the mine for quite some time, and he was ready to get some fresh air. He had uncovered one last thing while he was mining though. To him, it looked like some kind of fossil. He took it to the foreman to get some clarification."That's a pretty rare find. Some kind of bone. We don't need it, so you can take it with you if you want. I'm told the shops buy stuff like that some times. Of course, you can just toss it if you don't feel like dealing with it. The trash cart is over there. Your shift is done for today. The next crew will be coming in shortly. Let's settle up."Laram accepted the money the foreman gave him and placed the rare bone in his pack. If it could be sold at a shop, he wasn't going to pass up the money. He thanked the man and returned his Pokemon to their respective capsules.I think I'll visit the Casteliacone cart here in town. Hopefully the line isn't too long.The trainer exited the mine and made his way towards his ice creamed treat.
