Their father was a famous Noh Mai dancer known for his more elegant and disciplined dancing troupe. How they managed to meet in the first place had been a matter of speculation for anyone involved with the couple. How they even fell in love is a whole thing altogether. With the brash and sadistic Yue, there's not a man she wouldn't devour in her quest to raise her family in the underground world. With the soft-spoken and sweet Tadase, his almost frail emotional well-being seemed unable to even consider marrying. And yet, somehow, through some sick twist of fate, they fell in love. Tadase took Yue's family name when they married, knowing how important her family's legacy was to her. Yue financially sponsored Yue's entire dance troupe in a way the dying dance ritual hadn't seen in almost a century.
What happens when a devil of a woman births the child of a pure, sophisticated angel? Yuki, apparently. The first of three children, Yuki grew up having to balance two very different worlds; the cruel darkness the underground has to offer, and the graceful sophistication the world of traditional Japanese dancing troupes are expected to uphold. On one hand, they were raised to tame and rule over the toughest criminals the country has to offer with an iron fist. On the other hand, they were raised to be sophisticated, glamorous, orderly, and balanced. One helped with the other in its own way, but to say it caused gender dysphoria is an understatement. Yuki eventually just referred to themself as a ruler instead of a boy or girl or other title the world had to offer.
Outside of expectations from the way they're raised, Yuki found making friends as difficult if they sought to make equals.
