Physical Description: O'ler is tall and lean, which just emphasizes his strong build with a square face, short black hair, and friendly brown eyes.
Personality: O'ler would never consider himself talented - all and any skills or achievements he has have been the result of being a very hard working and disciplined individual, who can put in the effort needed for results and consistency. The way he lives is clean-cut and reliable and he is very rarely a surprise in the making. He sees himself lifting up from the top and pushing up from the bottom at the same time as a brownrider - a fine example of what a chromatic rider and dragon should and can be to his fellows and also the bottom support for the metallics who rank above him who need the sturdiness and stamina only a brown is built to supply to them. He is where he needs to be when he is needed there, but the consistency is only noticed in his absence.
But he is still a man capable of having some play with his work - warm, inviting, and content to settle himself in the middle of any social group. He will never be the standout that group, sure, but he will always be the safe bet for anybody to sit with. To louder, bolder personalities they'll find a patient conversation partner who doesn't mind being spoken over. For quieter individuals who are maybe hoping to draw less attention, he's happy to carry any conversation by himself or take the heat of attention if the group is too big. He's a relatively drama-free man to top it all off.
O'ler may have made a fine Wingleader if he'd impressed a bronze, though he'd still be a fine choice as a Wingsecond.
But what makes him steady and reliable also leaves O'ler inflexible and predictable - he doesn't dare test the imagination when it counts (and often when it doesn't) and tends to be safe in his judgements. Being drama free, calm, and friendly can be straight up boring to certain discerning parties and he doesn't particularly stand out for his good anymore than he stands out for the bad that is harder to come by. For everything he does, there is someone who does it better and flashier who is actually worth noting.

History: Ozaler isn't an unusual story for High Reaches: a boy born of a goldflight to unknown parents who found himself in the creche with all of the other kids who the stars aligned for. And he was a good enough sport - a little feisty, a little mischief, but more of a warden of his fellow kids. He wasn't broken, he didn't act up, but perhaps it was his plainness that kept him from being very included without a little desperation.
He just lacked the imagination to be fun.
Maybe he was on the cusp of becoming an actual problem child, or maybe he just looked particularly lonely, or perhaps he'd become too withdrawn. Ozaler could have speculated for days why he was put into the care of a goldrider who should have had other things to care about. But it was nice. She was nice.
Sure, he was nearly old enough to be a candidate and soon enough would spend most of his time amongst the candidates, their lessons, their chores, but he'd shamelessly call her mother. He'd share with her his excitement with every clutch. He'd share his disappointment as well.
Ozaler aged out - barely. But a gold had risen before his Nameday and he was given a last chance, out of courtesy, out of kindness, but High Reaches didn't act out of pity.
Was I almost too late, Ozaler? Because I hatched as fast as I could to come find you! and if the speed with which the brown had bowled him over was any indication, his Praeloth knew time was of the essence!
O'ler most certainly cried - and there was no doubt who he went running to with his brown in his arms the first chance he got.
But a dragon alone did not make a man a good rider, and O'ler was determined to be that and more. A man like him could make a dragon like Praeloth perfect, after all. But First Fall would not be perfect no matter how practiced for, and there would still be much to do. They wouldn't flinch from hard work. They could not, and still don't, fear in the face of duty.

Physical Description: Praeloth is almost ideal in his proportions for a brown - not too muscular, not too lean, his wings are the perfect size, and his headknobs are only a little on the long side.
Personality: Reliable and true, Praeloth is the perfect brown, really, and content to be it - mostly. While he does hold some envy for those browns who are born bigger, stronger, and with the skills and confidence needed to even compete with the bronzes, Praeloth doesn't see what he can do as something to feel lesser for. He's a brown - he'd like to see a blue or a bronze be what a brown is!
Because no, a bronze is not just a shinier and sometimes bigger brown. And that security is comfortable, the routine is comfortable, and being able to support everybody to their utmost capability and end is comfortable. Even if he cannot shine, Praeloth knows that all dragons shine best together and is a team player. Even if that means he may often be left behind or considered rather unassuming for his, well, averageness.
He is prone to feel hard work is futile for himself, however, and that there are no greater heights he could achieved with effort. In these times he must rely on his rider to motivate him, less he begin a downward spiral.
