Desert Sand was excited for the day. One of the puppies would be coming to follow him and see what he did for the pack. The light tan male had fretted most of the night on what would be acceptable. He didn’t think the pup was ready to see actual healing. Instead he finally settled upon talking about the plants he used in his healing. There was a lot there he could talk about that wouldn’t upset the pup or the pup’s mother.
He woke up early that morning to go through his supplies and decide what he’d need to gather that day. Not taking the pup far meant there were fewer things he could get, but he could show RedBadger what a larger part of a healer’s job was. If being out picking plants didn’t suit the pup it was better to know now. The sun was well up when Desert Sand went to pick up the pup from his mother.

Sharp needle like teeth chewed with great enthusiasm on a bone that had been attached to his breakfast. The meat having been devoured in earnest earlier that left only the white bone that was splintering in places so that he could get to the marrow within. A small growl echoed from his throat as he chewed, it was only when the larger, to his pup size, wolf appeared close to his mother's den, did RedBadger stop and leave the bone where he had been laying. The dirt was well shifted from his moving and coated his belly in clumps and dustings. With a good shake of his coat dislodged most of the mess though his white markers would need a bath later.
