Admittedly, there were advantages to being some crazy, magical girl, Namaka thought. Such as now when simply being a dark mirror senshi had allowed her to slip through her bathroom mirror at home to the bathroom mirror at the aquarium.

She was probably going to miss that once she found a way to stop being a dark mirror. But that was a problem for another day. Right now, she simply wanted to go and watch the fish in peace. Amazing as well to think that there weren’t even security cameras around. Which meant she could sit and watch to her heart’s content.

Oh! Or even better… Moving quickly, Namaka raced for the little indoor pool where the rays and smallest of sharks were kept. To her utter delight, there wasn’t any sort of cover over the pool and the animals swam peacefully in the dim, rippling light. Literally squee-ing, the dark mirror senshi went to the edge of the pool and leaned against the fake rock, happy for the time being to watch the little creatures do their fishy thing.

Gradually, she thought that the rays seemed to sense her being there. Certainly the little pancakes were flapping a bit more vigorously than before. Cooing softly, she moved one arm just enough to allow her to trail her fingers in the water.

“Hello, little sweeties! Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you~,” she murmured. It was too bad that rays weren’t really built to be scooped up and hugged. She’d just have to be content with petting the heck out of them. And when she felt a velvety soft ‘wing’ tip brush her fingers she grinned and moved just enough to run a finger down the investigative creature’s back. After that, she had all of the ray’s in the tank coming over to receive pets and attention.

But after a while, she found that what she really wanted was for the tiny sharks to come and check her out. So far, they’d been terribly shy and she didn’t think trying to chase them around in their home would be the coolest of moves. Keeping one hand in the pool as she slowly walked around it, Namaka managed to stumble on the cabinet where food was kept for when the fish were ‘performing’. And it looked as if luck was smiling on her since there was a chilled bucket just waiting for when the aquarium opened the next day.

“I don’t know about you guys,” she said cheerfully, “but food usually makes me feel a little friendlier. You cuties hungry? Just you, me and this bucket of fishy bits. And no obnoxious, screaming kids bugging you. Sounds great, right?”

Taking a handful of the food, Namaka put the hand into the water, opening her fingers just enough to allow the rays and hopefully the sharks to come up and get an easy snack. After a few moments, the rays were clustering close, eagerly taking treats. And to Namaka’s delight, the tiniest of the three sharks in the tank had also zoomed up to snatch a morsel. As it sped away, she’d been lucky enough to give it’s side a gentle stroke.

Only once she was sure that everyone in the tank had gotten a snack did she put the half empty bucket back where she’d found it.

“Well, this has been nice, hasn’t it,” she whispered before biting back a yawn. But I think I need to let you guys rest. I think I need rest too.”

Grinning at the tank, Namaka ran back towards the bathroom she’d come out of. It was time to head home.
