Personality ● When she was younger, Maria was headstong and naive, often believing whatever was told to her without caring about anything else. She did as her father asked, her mother molding her into the perfect wife for a future man. Growing older, she grew to be caring, king, still headstrong, but at the same time still Naive and not knowing what hit her when her parents died.
Now the head of the house, she had to straighten up, to make sure her home would survive. Quickly, she became a smarter woman, learning reading, writing and overall anything she would to survive. This included not taking anyone's problems. That was until the take over at her home. She was forced into a feelingsless marriage where her only solace was escaping with her sisters.
After her husbands death, Maria shifted back into her old self. At the same time however, she hardened herself against love, promising if the right guy came across she would fall in love but until then, she would do as she pleased.

Strengths

Biography
● Maria is the eldest of three children, the heir to the Devereux estate. Being raised as such, she tended to want freedom, to enjoy being her own person instead of who her parents wanted her to be. With the births of her younger sisters it became more and more evident that she was to be in charge of the place when her parents died. That result came sooner than anyone expected when her parents died in a sudden carriage accident.
With her parents dead and the lands now in her responsibility, the Lords and Dukes continued to try and force her into a marriage. Thinking they could frighten the girl into marriage, many tried but many failed as a result. It wasn't until the night of a party, one she held in honor of her sister's birthday that someone decided they would take control of the home. They kidnapped her sisters, threatening their lives if Maria did not agree to marriage and the release of her lands. With no where left to turn, she accepted the deal, her sisters lives worth more to her than the land. Shortly after the take over, she was wed but refused to let the man touch her.
After two years, the Queen caught word of the arrangement and more so the events that went down to acquire it. Along with many others, the death to Maria's husband came with no surprise. Maria faked sorrow, even going as far as wearing black for several months. The eve of her own birthday, Maria found herself in the presence of the Queen, someone she found empowering and admired for her courage and beauty. She was told to not worry about the memory of a man who didn't deserve what he had.
From then on, she didn't bow to any man, raising her sister into adulthood to remind them that they could control the futures... they didn't need her or any others to tell them how to love. Now, the three take care of their lands with Maria at the head of the family and enjoying life as a Bormish Courtesan.
Her nickname the Lady of the Night comes from her ability to take what she wants after a night of passion and heat.
