It had been quite a week for Hallow. First, consciousness had slammed into her. A mix of instincts, and learning as fast she as she could, and making the best of that mix. She'd been herded out across the wasteland, and then left. Nothing to hunt, no pack, nothing of use. And then the sun had glinted just right and hit a strange blue crystal. She'd picked it up and it had done something to her. She still wasn't sure quite what that something was. It had shown her a strange vision of sorts? Was it real, or just a dream? Hallow didn't know. Right now, all she knew was how empty her belly was. It screamed at her, and pressed into every thought. Eat or die. Eat now or die. She wasn't about to be defeated that easily. Defeated by some base need. She growled, objecting to everything that was happening. Her stomach growled in response. She shook her head hard in disgust. And then a funny little place in the back of her mind urged her to do something. Something that seemed wrong, but she did it anyway. She lunged forward and grabbed a mouthful of dead, crumbly dirt. Her jaw easily scissored it up. A strange feeling grew within her, as she wolfed the clump of dirt down. The taste wasn't anything to remark about, not like those juicy noulicorns, but her stomach didn't object to the presence of the dirt, either. She eagerly gobbled up more and more, until her body stopped screaming at her to eat. When she was done she'd gouged a wide area up around her. She frowned. Could she really eat dirt? The strange feeling had settled into her stomach, but was slowly moving lower. She wasn't sure that made any sense at all. But she was so new to the world, maybe she was just wrong. Regardless, that seemed to be the most pressing problem dealt with. Now she could move on to others ... On the horizon there was a smudge, and she was determined to reach it and see what it was.

Hollow hadn't ventured too far from his new home since he'd found it. Just far enough to chase down and catch some rats. They seemed to dense populate the Ruins. Perhaps his banishment to this place wouldn't prove fatal. But he was so alone ... Today he was determined to have a good solid patrol of the area, see if he could detect any signs of his kind. He so desperately wanted to find his Pack once more. For a few brief hours they'd been there, and all had been going well. Until those rats betrayed them. He snarled at the memory. As he snarled, he padded through the edge of the crumbling buildings. He knew they were built by the species that had destroyed his the first time. The tasty noulicorns had told him that before they'd left him here to die. He also knew they had died out. Killed themselves off. At least that was what he thought. Perhaps the noulicorns had lied to him. It wouldn't surprise him. He snarled again. They'd driven him and his kind out of the lush woods that had teemed with life, and into the broken, decrepit place. It was clear that they didn't care for it, which was why they had driven the Bone Crusher out here. But they'd broken them up ... Forced them to be alone. That tugged on Hollow even more than his constant hunger. He was not meant to be alone. He was past the buildings now, and the hot sun beat down on him, nothing obstructing in. He broke into a lope, stretching his legs. He inhaled deeply the dry dust tickling his throat. As he loped along a sudden smell caught his attention. With the dry dirt and the crumbling things behind him there was something else. Something like him. He breathed in as deeply as he could, as quickly as he could. He tried to gather as much of the air as possible into his lungs. Was it just his mind playing tricks on him? Or was there another Bone Crusher out here? He swung his head around, searching, searching. As he ran on, the smell became clearer. Hollow's heart pounded against his ribs. He scented the air again, and let out a bark of sheer joy. The scent couldn't be that old. He was sure of it. Then, in the distance he noticed a smudge. He stretched his legs as far as they would go, putting everything into running. He was so sure. There was another Bone Crusher out there, alive still. He covered the distance quickly, refusing to waste anytime. The smudge quickly resolved itself. Before he knew it he stood in front of another one of his kind. He whooped with joy. "Sister." He ducked his head to the towering female. "Come, I've found our home."

Hallow had been ready to set out towards the smudge on the horizon when part of the smudge broke off and came to her. She'd waited, watching it. Whatever it is, is was alone. She was confident in her own strength, so simply waited for it to come to her. If it was some surly noulicorn she had no fear. She did have a little hope. If she'd been drive out here, so too much have the others. It had been days. She'd wandered from where she'd been left, perhaps the others had as well. She certainly hoped that was the case. She didn't think the Bone Crushers would just lay down and die. As the shape grew larger so did her confidence. It wasn't shaped like a noulicorn, or a rat. It was shaped like a Bone Crusher. She drew herself up tall, ready to greet whoever this was, but also ready to tell them about her grand vision. The noulicorns of Homewood clearly didn't want her kind to be together. They clearly would prefer them to just die out once more. Hallow wasn't about to let that happen. The noulicorns would have to live with the choice they'd made in resurrecting the Bone Crushers. She'd make sure of it. Personally if necessary. A male Bone Crusher skidded to a halt before her, and greeter her. She pulled her lips back in a smile. He was clearly over joyed, and he was appropriately respectful. All of her instincts told her she was a leader, and others were made to follow her. Especially males like him. "Brother, it is a joy." She approached him, and looked him over. He appeared to have some meat over his ribs, and his stomach wasn't sucked up to his spine. He was eating. Interesting. He dipped his head deeply to her. Her smile widened. He looked up at her, tail wagging. "I have found our home. A home for all the Bone Crushers. I'll take you to it. We'll find others!" He was nearly beside himself with joy. "Good hunting around it. Many rats. other things too." He spoke quickly, clearly trying to ease any fears she might have. Hallow cocked a brow. "Well, you can show me. But I'll have to decide if it good enough. Our kind shouldn't have to live in some hole, not like what those rats had us in." He nodded enthusiastically. "Oh, I'll show you. It is fitting for us. Not what those rats thought we needed. Much better. Much, much better." He took off again, glancing over his shoulder every few steps, seeing if she'd follow. Hallow did follow. Just for now. Soon it was time to lead.

Hollow could hardly believe his luck. He had found another Bone Crusher, and a female at that! Joy swelled up in him as he beheld her. She was a regal creature, pale and sleek despite her height. She was a little dirty, but it wasn't surprising given she was out in the Barrens. He could hardly wait to show her their new home. She'd she, it was perfect. He almost had to shake his head to see if he was dreaming. He glanced back, delighted to see that she was following. More than following, she easily gained on him, and ran beside him. Hollow grinned. "It's in the Ruins. That's where the noulicorns drove me to. Left me there. But hunting is good. Perhaps nearly as good as their forest, Sister." She didn't response, she just seemed to take it in. "Our home is large though. Large enough for a great Pack. Together, we can collect them. Assemble them. Not many noulicorns out in the Ruins. It can be ours, undisputedly." He could see a glint in her eye. He liked that. They ran in silence the rest of the way. As the broke through the perimeter of the buildings he watched her closely. She scanned the Ruins, but seemed unimpressed. He didn't blame her. They were tumbledown hovels here. He wound through streets before finally reaching the place he'd found. It stood tall, unassaulted. "Our home, Sister." She stepped past him, and through the front door. Hollow grinned.
