Minal
about Race: 1/2 Fire, 1/4 Water, 1/4 Leaf Gender: Female Class: TBD Future Class: TBD Significant Other: None Parents: Mila [NPC] (Water/Leaf) and Oban Male (Unknown) Siblings: None (that she knows of) Children: None RP Color: TBD
personality 3 Base Traits: Flirtatious, Hot-headed, Faithful
Minal is the epitome of a sheltered kid being free for the first time - hellish, hotheaded and stubborn, prone to getting in trouble, and frivolous. As a child, there were always eyes on her to make sure she was taken care of and safe... yet there is a thrill in the unknown, in taking a chance and perhaps dangling. The risk is as exciting as the reward for her. She is the sort of child to take a dare without thinking twice, willing to suffer the consequences in exchange for the fun of the game. Breaking a collarbone from falling from a tree won't convince her not to climb it again - if anything, it's just one more story to tell.
While faithful to the gods, and loyal to those she befriends, she is quick to judge and somewhat impossible to sway from her first impression of a person. That being said, Hinal prefers to come to her own conclusions about a person rather than hearsay; she was a headstrong child, and resented her family trying to tell her things as fact before she had the opportunity to make her own decisions. Her fiery disposition, matched with the inability sometimes to verbalize her thoughts correctly, leads to disagreements with her family - who often reacted in an overly placating, if condescending manner. Her family dealt with her tantrums by ignoring or leaving her alone until she cooled down, or was forced to back down without a conclusion to the argument/discussion. Perhaps due to her upbringing, Hinal finds it difficult to establish new relationships; most of the long term friendships she had back home were born due to closeness and being raised together, or through utility through her work in Besaji.
She was raised with loyalty to the Gods, and those who look down on such devoutness are looked at with distrust. She is god-fearing, and feels that to neglect the influence of the Gods is to risk downfall; that being said, she doesn't agree with the commune's beliefs that ardent worship is necessary.
She has a weakness for charming people, especially those who are nice to her and listen to her thoughts and feelings. She's unused to dealing with duplicity or facetiousness, and likely wouldn't take it well.

History
Childhood Minal was raised by a family of worshipers, and her mother Mila, in a small commune built to the god Len outside Besaji in Matori. The commune was small, consisting of perhaps thirty or so members, and though she was a hybrid Minal was far from the only one, though only one of a handful with Oban blood. While the majority of the commune members were religious worshipers of the god Len, her birth mother and a handful of others had fled from horrible lives in Oba. And so while she was a bit sheltered, Minal did enjoy stories of the mainland and even a few trips to the shores of Matori when she was still a youngling. While few members of the group purposefully disparaged her for her bloodline, the more scarred members of the group made their discomfort with her Oban blood clear, perhaps contributing to her being raised by the more devoutly religious members of the group. This devoutness became an outlet for her more stressful days as a child, but also a crutch in that many of the members had domineering and condescending parenting styles.
Her mother, Mila, was a quiet and faint hearted woman, who enjoyed working hard and spending her evenings cooking for her new family and taking comfort in others' company. That, and the fact she suffered from tremors, horrible night terrors, and had scars from burns over her arms and legs meant that for many years she was incapable of properly caring for Minal alone. As Minal grew she was more likely to sleep curled up with other matronly women or their younglings in the commune, not her mother... and by the time she was a young prentice her mother was just one of many who she lived with.
Life was idyllic, peaceful... but Minal longed for more, and no amount of pleading and dissuasion from her family would convince her otherwise. Not even her mother, who warned her sternly of men on the continent, especially those who would find her hybrid blood 'exotic'. Still - when she insisted, her family gifted her with supplies and advice, and sent her on her way on a boat to the mainland of Matori... where she was determined to explore and adventure- or, really, do anything that wasn't another day fishing on that island.
