If Kindle had to be completely honest, Homewood life was nice, even if it was a little boring. He and his sister had grown up here under minimal supervision from their mother, but maximal supervision from a team of nannies who had wrangled them and made sure they'd learned lessons about being part of society and being agreeable and being proud of his life and his family's background.

Kindle had taken all of those lessons to heart, learned that he had been born into quite a privileged position within Homewood, and taught that he was a spectacularly good-looking creature who ought to carry himself with confidence and never feel like he was lacking in any aspect. The buck seemed perfectly fine with that part. He still itch for a little something more to his life, but being young and not altogether driven, he was mostly fine with pursuing nothing in particular as he made his way through life and society in their lush forest paradise.

Today, as with most days, he'd woken up late, munched on a little breakfast, and made his way down to one of the watering holes to see who was gathered and what kind of gossip was floating about.

Whenever it was, it had been earlier than she particularly enjoyed being out and about again, the world still dim and diffuse to her eye, so she had tried, and ultimately failed to go back to sleep. Whiling away her time in her den, she had absently practiced some of her bardic repertoire, softly humming a couple of her favorite songs, and otherwise just occupying herself waiting for the world to brighten.

Finally when the sun risen enough to cooperate with her desires to get out and about, Olwen had carefully made her way down familiar paths to get herself some breakfast. Once her hunger was sated, she made her way one of the watering holes she frequented. If her friends needed her, they knew whereabouts she'd probably be, otherwise, she was content to bask in the sunshine, mingle with whomever might be around to mingle with.

After exchanging some pleasant small talk with a noul she had chatted to once or twice before, Olwen excused herself to get a drink. They'd been nice enough, but it had felt like the conversation had been starting to go in circles. Breathing a little sigh after rehydrating herself, Olwen backed away from the water's edge and settled neatly on the grassy bank. Her glassy eyes stared out across the water, but her ears slowly turned and flicked this way and that, tuning into the conversations buzzing softly about her.

Some days, the watering hole was a drag. It depended entirely on who was here. Kindle had experienced his fair share of days when the company was utterly soul-sucking, engaging in the type of idle chitchat about plants and balanced diets that could put anyone to sleep. Today, though, it seemed as if he was in luck.

Kindle spotted Olwen right away. It was difficult not to. There was no one in Homewood who looked like her, thanks to that coat of hers. Plus, she had a way of sitting and listening that was unique to her, a slow turn of the ears this way and that, which Kindle could recognize from a distance by now.

The young buck made his way over to his friend, not bothering to be quiet. She'd hear him anyway. He plopped himself down with a thud. "Well now, young noul, aren't I just the big, strong, handsome buck you've been waiting for?" he said, tossing his mane a bit as if to emphasize the handsome. He blinked expectantly, as if waiting for her to notice how good-looking he and his flashy palomino coat were.

There was no one conversation that held her attention for too long. Some were chattering about those new predators, the bone crushers, what it meant for everyone, and so forth. Others spoke of food, family, general gossip, romantic pursuits. However, the sounds of a familiar swaggering stride heading towards her drew her wandering attention to focus. Seemed like Kindle was feeling in top form today.

Purposefully taking her time in acknowledging her friend's presence, Olwen heaved a seemingly incredibly put upon sigh as she slowly turned her head towards him. "Talking to me? I'm afraid you must have me confused for someone else. There's a trio off to the right that have been chattering about nothing but good looking partner hunting since I've gotten sat down here. Oh, the things they've been listing for prospects...You'd probably do well to saunter past them. You'd probably get their seeking hearts a'racing, no doubt." She flashed him an impish little grin and booped him with the tip of her snout. "Today finding you in good spirits, stranger?"

"Ohh???" Kindle pretended to perk up and lean over to peep at the trio Olwen had mentioned. He was a good-looking buck - he knew this because his nanny had told him often while he was growing up. "I'd better make sure I put in my candidacy." But he pulled his head back to center and made no move to get up.

"Oh, you know. It's the same old, same old," he said, shaking his head with a sigh. In certain circles in Homewood, that was actually quite a good thing. Kindle couldn't necessarily say that he disagreed - after all, being idle was a luxury and he was quite fond of luxuries - but it didn't make for very good conversation fodder. "Have you heard, though? Things are afoot."

The buck peered about cautiously, making sure nobody was listening in. Of course, when it was just him and Olwen, they weren't important enough to matter to much to listening ears. "I spoke to someone who had been by the Dulcet Salon the other day, and she said that she heard from one of the faeries in there that someone had come in and said some crazy things to the dream reader!"

It was not a firsthand eyewitness account. But it was something all the same.
