It gave the boy plenty of time to scurry around the family's temporary home, preparing for the day. Prepping firewood for the meals, getting water for the day, making sure everything was ready for breakfast that his Pa would wake up and make soon enough!
But another benefit of waking up early was that the markets were uncrowded, and the likelihood of actually running into bullies, or anyone else who gave him a hard time was incredibly low. Unfortunately, after that last incident at the festival, he was a bit less confident going out on his own, even then.
So! It was simple, he just had to wake up his big brother to go with him!
Once everything was set up for the day, he tiptoed to Ilkay's room, giving the sleeping boy a quick little shake of the shoulder.
"Ilkaaaaay, I gotta go out, wake up so you can come with me please.."
