It was strange how his civilian life and his senshi life could co-exist and assist one another so well. On occasions there were certain details and specific intel that he could utilise to a far greater extent than his colleagues might realise. This evening wouldn't be an exception to that rule either. Having heard more than a few rumours about this particular area of the city he had finally received enough detalis to piece together a specific location of interest.

A shady and otherwise seedy bar, he knew the type of individuals who usually came to these haunts, but that didn't necessarily mean that he was here to break up any specific gang encounters. On the contrary, he'd heard unusual rumours regarding a certain new 'treatment' for certain 'ailments' and it had sounded a little too familiar for him to let it pass by without further investigation.

He didn't know what he expected to find as of yet, in fact, he might very well discover that it wasn't what he had assumed it was at all. However the man firmly believed in being safe, rather than sorry. Thus he now rested comfortably against the wall, head bow and jaw set as he regarded the occasional passerby out of the corner of his eye. As of yet he didn't look particularly unusual, clothed in his usual attire and not as clean shaven as he often was. If anything he might come across as a little bit of 'new blood' that was looking to dabble in what they probably shouldn't.

Nevertheless his pen was comfortably slotted in to his pocket and he fully intended to use it at very little notice. This evening would be a lesson in patience and strategy; and by the end of it he might walk away with decidedly more intel than he'd had previously.

Of course, he hadn't necessarily been expecting company in his grand adventure. Ever since he had woken up he'd spent the better part of his time alone. However this didn't mean that he aspired to be a lonewolf, on the contrary he would have been delighted to have a companion, the only difference was that those he had met weren't necessarily fit to enter dens like these and come back out of them safely. In time he'd find others who could be relied upon to remain safe in these environments, but given the importance of this particular information and the potential lack of longevity regarding it... He had to act now, rather than waiting for others who might be able to answer his call.

Ever silent, he gave a quick glance down towards his watch before pursing his lips. He'd give it a little longer and then he would move inside...

A shady and otherwise seedy bar, meant the type of individuals that made Kamacite’s job easier. And easier was always welcome these days. It meant he could go through the motions without really thinking about it, without dwelling how things once were, and how he hoped they would be once more.

He had not bothered cutting his long black hair that came with being a senshi of the negaverse like he usually would when going into known combat. No, he did not plan on fighting. He was there to collect energy, perhaps a starseed or two, and then be on his way.

Partially braided and pulled up into a ponytail, Kamacite was able to tolerate and maneuver well enough the length and weight of it as his hair pooled at his feet. Bright fabric the colors of a sunset wrapped over his shoulders and fell down his arms and back as he waited in the shadows of an alley.

It wasn’t long until someone stumbled out of the back door of the bar, because instead of making their way to a normal bathroom, they decided to relieve themselves where it looked like someone homeless had set up what little possessions they had to sleep when they returned later that night.

Disgusted, Kamacite lifted the hem of his robe to his nose and debated if he wanted to bother with potentially getting his already delicate shoes soiled. Figuring the faster he got this over with, the faster he could go home, Kamacite stepped out of the shadows just enough to hold his hand out to the man’s back. Energy slowly began to draw out and form into an orb, but the sudden movement of rats scurrying down the alley startled him and the man.

“Hey!” the drunk slurred as he turned around to see Kamacite, his energy still mostly intact. Kamacite shoved the man back into the wall, then reached his hand in the man’s chest before he could try to fight back.

He had almost been tempted to allow this man to succumb to the effects of the senshi's draining. Kamacite hadn't been the only one left with a sense of disgust at the gentleman's choice. In fact, the intervention had been timely enough to save some of the belongings he had soiled, to the point that the smell would eventually fade...or had a chance of being cleaned off once the owner returned for them.

However, when the senshi's hand pressed into the depths of his chest the man had little choice other than to react. Punishment was one thing, death was quite another. In an instant he had strode away from his spot and into the alley unseen, and a singular pulse of Order energy swept out shortly after.

The senshi was a basic, that much would be clear, but still present and now pointedly walking in the direction of both Kamacite and his less than favourable victim. Perhaps if Athalia had been callous he would have let this one go, but any opportunity to feed a beast that should really be starved would make him complicit in the further devastation it wrought.

"I would strongly advise against what you are about to do," he uttered, rounding the corner a short distance away. He hadn't been far away to begin with, the pulse alone should have made it obvious to Kamacite that he had been here for some time in a different capacity. "I do not believe I am otherwise inclined to allow others to commit murder this evening," he pointed out coolly.

...Oddly though, he hadn't mentioned draining.

Ah, but perhaps the unfortunate victim was someone the senshi was willing to allow some momentary discomfort to. Hurting the vulnerable didn't generally sit well with him, but then again, this one had already indirectly hurt someone even lower on the wrung than him.

He didn't move to intervene immediately, but that didn't mean he wasn't prepared to do so, and the rather grave expression on his features would have made that abundantly clear.

The additional aura flooding the immediate vicinity didn't startle Kamacite as it may have once upon a time. Being able to teleport at practically a moment's notice had perhaps made him a bit more careless. But this aura was that of the lowest level senshi, and the sweetness of it filling his senses was just as irritating as the voice that accompanied it.

The man whose chest he had his hand shoved in seemed to be in shock, but was quickly overcoming the sensation of a foreign object where it should be impossible to reach. Enough to spit out what Kamacite assumed was a string of xenophobic slurs and reached to grab for Kamacite's neck.

Kamacite grabbed right back, taking hold of the man's shirt collar and turning to shove him towards the senshi. It was with that same motion that he held tight to the starseed and pulled it from the man's now limp body, and he watched to see if the senshi would let the man crumple to the ground, or attempt to stop additional injury.

"Who said anything about committing murder?" Kamacite asked, his voice quiet as usual as he showed the starseed in his hand. "He's still alive."

Sure enough, as long as the starseed remained intact, the body did not immediately decay. It could take days, months, years for the body to succumb to the starseed being removed.

The senshi was taller than him, and more muscular, but Kamacite had trained with someone taller and more muscular than this senshi with the sole purpose of learning to defend himself against those larger than himself.

There was an ache in Kamacite's chest as he thought back to over a year ago now, but pushed his memories aside to focus on the senshi in front of him.

He still wasn't desensitized to it yet, even though this wasn't the first time he had seen it, it didn't make it any less impactful. While what he could only describe as the soul still glowed within the senshi's palm, it wouldn't stay that way forever and if he wasn't careful, it would end up crushed. The destruction of such a delicate thing needed to be avoided at all costs - despite the victim's flaws, it wasn't for the corrupted senshi to render judgement upon him.

Would it serve any purpose to demand it be returned?

Athalia had encountered very few chaotic beings who did as they were told, 'reasonable' was not in their vocabulary even though they often liked to pretend they were. In the end it always came down to the same thing, for all their veiled excuses and sob stories they would always cause harm.

He should have known better of course, he was standing in front of an Eternal and in the grand scheme of things he was outranked, but if there was even a semblance of an opportunity to intervene then it needed to be taken. He might be able to take this one for a time, but if things didn't turn out quite as he planned, then this might very well be one of those evenings where failure proved to be inevitable.

"Put it back," he instructed, a low growl in his voice as he strode purposefully towards the smaller senshi. It served no purpose to launch at him, Athalia had no ability to close gaps as rapidly as he would have needed to, he'd have his opening soon.

He just needed to wait until Kamacite was within grappling range...

For all his demands, Kamacite was almost surprised that this senshi made no effort to stop the civilian’s body from crumpling to the ground; however, he was not surprised that he strode forward towards him.

This self-righteous senshi would have to prove much faster if he planned on making up any difference between their ranks.

Since Kamacite’s words seemed to fall on deaf ears, or at least ignorant pride that refused to respond, he slowly lowered his hand that held the starseed, but kept it in view as he lifted his free hand palm facing towards the brute of a senshi charging him.

His expression was soft and almost sad, but also resigned with a hint of ire lighting his eyes that made contact with the White Moon senshi’s.

“Solar maximum.”

Not only was Kamacite willing to pull his punches as a warning, but he was also being cautious about revealing his full hand, so to speak. Of course, this senshi probably wouldn’t realize how much worse it could have been, as a bright light filled the alley, and nearby streetlights shattered.

Super Sailor Attack: Solar Maximum
There is a brilliant flash of light causing temporary but immediate disorientation and blindness that fades into horribly spotty vision; can last upwards of thirty seconds. Additionally, devices with an electrical or magnetized charge (street lights, phones, cameras, etc) suddenly do not work during those thirty seconds. There have been cases of street light bulbs bursting from the electromagnetic surge. The attack does not cause physical damage and is intended as a diversion or distraction, as well as a hindrance. Has an effect radius of 10 feet (although the flash can be seen as one would see any flash), and can be used three times.

As far as attacks went, it was safe to say that this was one of the more effective ones that Athalia had encountered. It was enough to make him pause, not in pain, but to cover his eyes with his arm. Unfortunately the attack had come without any real warning and while his arm may have shielded him from a chunk of the 'burst', he wasn't that fast and the light had still assaulted his sight - coupled with the distinct sound of shattering bulbs and he did halt in his advance.

Even as he lowered his arm, gaze directed firmly towards his sandals, he could already see the unappealing side effects that came from such a delightful gift. He used to think camera flashes were bad, but this was something in another league. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, soon heaving a sigh as he opened them once more.

It wasn't perfect, but it was viable.

"Rude," he stated, a sidelong glance afforded to Kamacite and it was with this that the prowling senshi shot forward with considerably more speed. He hadn't been quite as close as he would have preferred, but if he were to stand any chance of grabbing hold of the smaller man, he'd have to move now. After all, this wasn't about him so much as restoring that 'soul' to its owner... Regardless of how unpleasant its master might be in the end.

Unfortunately he already knew that his own abilities would be useless against this one, they might shield blows but they didn't provide shades. It was brute strength or nothing for this particular encounter.

Most of the sympathy left Kamacite’s expression as the senshi once again advanced, having been only temporarily halted by his attack. This was surely the first time Kamacite heard someone stating self-defense was rude.

Part of him wanted to show this senshi that he was severely underestimating him. Kamacite had trained countless hours specifically to defend himself against those with brute strength. He’d been taught weak points in every human, and how he could use someone’s weight against them.

Fortunately for this boor of a senshi, Kamacite had no desire to be the subject of any White Moon magic if he could help it.

Before the senshi could get within an arm’s length, Kamacite teleported.

Against his better judgement, he only teleported a few stories up, and sat braced on the edge of the fire escape railing. His dark hair cascaded down over his shoulder, which he pulled back up to make sure it wasn’t within reaching distance for the senshi if he tried to jump.

“For someone acting so desperate to get this back, you’re doing a poor job of convincing me to hand it over,” Kamacite said with a frown, still holding onto the starseed.

"If you intended to give it back you would have done so by now," he replied coolly. He paused, albeit briefly and shook his head. He knew what these people were like, what they wanted, and it was never to allow someone to live. He had no doubt that this particular senshi would be more than happy to crush that seed and be done with it, this was just entertainment for him in the meantime. The only choice Athalia had was to try and get it back before it was too late.

In his world view, these people didn't negotiate, they just played with their food.

Still if there was one thing he did know, it was that the teleport that Kamacite had been graced with came at a price. He'd fought a few agents now and after a while they got tired. Combine that with his abilities and eventually this particular corrupt would slow down. Well, that was how it worked in theory, but if he was going to test that he was also going to have to force him to keep getting out of the way.

It was just as well that this powered form possessed abilities that he would normally lack. Spring in step, he leapt forward and thrust himself upwards towards the man. Why climb when you could jump, it was a waste to ignore the strength he did have and maybe he'd get close enough to grab him.

While that star seed was still intact he had to try, should it turn to dust, then it would serve no other purpose but to reinforce exactly what Kamacite's kind were in his mind - monsters.

This man was in his own world, Kamacite decided. His dark eyes narrowed, incredulous to whether this senshi was purposefully acting narrow minded or if he was just oblivious. Or spiteful. Or blinded by his own views of right and wrong.

Surely for how self-righteous this man acted, he would have considered that if Kamacite had absolutely no intention of returning the starseed, he would have teleported to Negaspace and moved on with his life. If this man was so pessimistic that he truly believed Kamacite would never return the starseed, why bother chasing after him at all? Maybe he liked failure?

As Kamacite suspected and planned for, the senshi did indeed attempt to jump the few stories up. But like the other man, Kamacite was also a senshi, particularly one built for agility, and knew the general height most senshi could reach. But unlike the other man, Kamacite was an Eternal Senshi of the Negaverse.

He teleported again, growing tired of the cat and mouse game that once would have terrified him. This time he teleported to the top of the building where another two or so jumps would be necessary to reach.

Kamacite looked down at the senshi below, and the disgusting excuse for a civilian even further. If anything, it would be kinder to crush the starseed so others would not have to deal with the vile excuse of a human the civilian was.

But it also wasn’t as though Kamacite had anyone to present the starseed to as he once had. Maybe if he was still able to get in contact with Wolfeite it would be one thing, but he was slowly starting to lose hope that his friends would ever return.

He turned away from the edge of the building, placing the starseed in view on the top of an air conditioning unit. If the senshi really did chase with the intent to fail, and gave up the moment Kamacite disappeared from view, then he would simply return later to collect the starseed. If the senshi was more optimistic than he sounded, he would find the reward for his efforts. A pointless reward, because the city would still be tarnished by trash.

Kamacite didn’t bother turning back to see if the senshi was still making his way up the building when he teleported for the last time, returning to Negaspace so he could deliver the energy he’d collected.

If you want to do the final tag, feel free! If not that's fine too and we can end here! (Although Kamacite would like to know who he's dealing with when he comes back to check. =D ) Thank you!!

No!

It would have been similar to one of those cliché moments in a movie, that moment when they moved just out of the way and as the hero ran after them to grab them they managed to get away. Unfortunately this was simply a given in the world that Athalia lived in, at this particular moment in time the power disparity between himself and Kamacite would never have been in his favour and yet he'd still felt the need to try.

Nevertheless the senshi did pull himself up after the senshi on the off chance he had simply moved out of line of sight, only to discover that upon his arrival at the top Kamacite had indeed vanished. At first the senshi could do nothing more than utter a curse, frustrated and denied what he had been attempting to save. Suffice to say he'd lost and that was never a nice pill to swallow.

...Or had he?

As he uttered a stream of curses and spun round to deal with the now 'dead' man he would have to place somewhere, his eyes caught sight of a glimmer of light. Was that what he thought it was? His lips parted ever so slightly, careful not to get too far ahead of himself. If it was to be another artful game or trick then he needed to be careful, but the closer he got the clearer it became... On the unit rested the very thing he'd been chasing.

Without hesitation he swept it into his grasp and promptly leapt back down from the building towards the prone figure, pressing the seed against his chest until it slipped back inside. Still drained and unconscious it would be a while before he woke up but at least he would be alive (unsavory as he was) to see another day.

Starseed secured the man glanced over his shoulder and back up towards where the corrupt had vanished; so Kamacite hadn't taken a life today, though he'd had the capacity to do so. Curious as he was he knew better than to read into things too much and reminded himself that there was every chance this had been a game to the other man. Nevertheless a small sliver of him remained grateful that he still hadn't committed murder for the sake of it.

With no pulse of chaos nearby it seemed that he may have missed his opportunity to investigate anything else in any great detail for now. If there had been anyone except for Kamacite here then they had taken their leave quickly and he would have to choose another day to investigate this den in greater detail.

He turned on his heel, leaving the prone victim to his own devices. Though his stakeout hadn't delivered what he had wanted and the opportunity for this evening had been missed that didn't mean that he wouldn't be of use elsewhere. The night was still young and he still had a job to do, he could only hope that when the victim did wake up he didn't run his mouth again and get himself killed for an entirely different reason...
