Shadiya waltzed towards the foyer of her family's Matori manor. The Oban was dressed in a silk dress of indigo and her hair was twisted into a long crimson braid that hung over a shoulder. Her golden bracelets clinked together in a rhythm of her own making as she waited for her husband to join her. He had promised to spend time with her today and she even had a small picnic basket prepared. Did I pack everything? Her lips pursed thoughtfully as she carefully opened the clasp and dug through the contents of the woven basket. Some bread, cheese, a few fruits and some candies along with a wine skin...perfect!
"Dex?" Shadiya called out the name almost like a melody. Despite being older the dancer still acted almost like a teen whenever she was going out with her husband. She just couldn't seem to help but feel a bit giddy especially when they were going on a date! She had been so busy with work and going back and forth to Oba that it honestly felt like it had been forever since they had a moment alone. She was seriously looking forward to this and wanted to make it a perfect, simple day.

Pacing the bedroom with a similar excitement, Dexurn was trying to decide between two shirts to wear. It was their first trip for just the two of them in ages, and he wanted to look nice for her! It was just a simple little outing, but it was their simple little outing.
"I'm coming," he called in response, hesitating a moment longer before he tossed one shirt back at the dresser and pulled on the dark blue tunic. He grabbed up a sturdy blanket for them to lay out and stepped out. "Have you decided where I'm taking you yet?" he teased with a chuckle, taking a moment to clearly admire Shadiya's figure in the silk dress. It seemed that it didn't matter what his wife wore though; it could be a burlap sack and she would look like she was ready for a party.

Even after being married for years, Shadiya could not help the fluttering of her heart whenever she saw her husband. "Someone's handsome." She teased as she raised up on tiptoe to kiss his cheek in greeting. "Well....it would be a waste of some beautiful weather if I told you the first place that came to mind." She teased with a flirtatious wink and an obvious glance towards the stairs that led towards the master bedroom. The dancer could not resist a little flirting after all and she simply trailed a hand down and along his arm before wrapping her fingers around his hand. "I was just thinking we could walk along the northern beaches. It's been a while but there's that little cove with a waterfall coming from the cliffs where the stream meets the ocean." It was a picturesque area that Cahira had told her about and she was eager to find it again.
Nice and isolated with a beautiful view of the ocean. Now that sounded like a lovely spot for a picnic. They could even swim there if they wanted. A thought that brought a slight flush to her cheeks as she gently tugged Dexurn towards the doorway. "Ready?"

Following Shadiya's playful gaze, Dex laughed and gave her hand a squeeze. "We seem to have different ideas of what a 'waste' is," he teased back. Sighing heavily as though to show he was making a heavy sacrifice, he followed Shade outside and looked toward the north. "A waterfall? That does sound nice. We live right here, but it's been a while since I've had a regular swim." Any swimming was usually part of training for himself or a pupil.
He reached with his free hand to grab the picnic basket and extended his arm out to present the open road in front of them. "Lead the way."

"I meaaaaan. We can also enjoy the weather as well as other things." Shadiya teased back with a playful wink in response to her husband's words. Honestly it was already amazing that they would even spend time apart since she enjoyed being stuck to his side like glue. Having children had somewhat brought some responsibility to her playful nature but whenever she was alone with Dexurn like this Shadiya almost felt like a teen again. Just glancing at Dexurn made her heart skip a beat. "Then we can do some swimming." She replied with a firm nod. "It's secluded so I don't think I need to pack anything extra." Leaving that tease in the air, Shadiya started leading them away from the stone manor that they had built along the base of the cliffs overlooking the ocean.
The sound of the waves crashing against the shore along with the refreshing sea breeze brought a smile of delight to her lips. Matori was forever her sanctuary and she adored the home that they had created here. Walking with her arm linked through Dexurn's own made her so happy. This was truly where her heart resided no matter what roots she had in Oba. "Usually I go along the left but apparently if you climb over there you can cross through some narrow passages in the cliffs and emerge in the cove." Thankfully Cahira was away in town for the day and Shadiya did not know if any of their other children knew of the spot. So it would be a perfect place to enjoy themselves freely.

Dex laughed lightly. "I'm sure we'll find plenty to enjoy out there as well." Age was a mythical concept when it came to their love. Perhaps ageless was how Dex felt most around Shade. It had been years since their relationship had taken shape, but it was still able to feel fresh and new at any time.
He took a deep breath of salty air and grinned. "Looks like we're not the only ones enjoying the day," he said, pointing out two zanteer playing in the waves that splashed along the sand. A couple pups were scurrying through as well, nipping at the tails of their parents. ..His children would have chewed off his tail by now if he'd had one. "Through the cliffs? How'd you find it?"

"Looks like it." Shadiya giggled as she watched the zanteer playing along the beach. "They're too cute." She leaned against Dexurn for a moment while she enjoyed the scene of the playful creatures enjoying the lovely weather. She wondered what else such beautiful weather would bring out to play? Perhaps even the cove would be occupied with surprises? Who knows? Maybe if they were lucky they could see more than just the zanteer today. Or maybe it would be best if they were alone? The possibilities for their day were endless. Shadiya grinned at Dexurn's question, "Well you Cahira has a bit of an adventurous spirit. I may have followed her one morning and found out about her little practice area. Thankfully she's out shopping in town today and said she may not be home until dusk." As she spoke she slowly led them towards the cliffs in question. "We'll have to separate for a moment." She pouted playfully before letting go of Dexurn's arm so that she could hop over some rocks, the low tide thankfully keeping them mostly dry for now. Reaching out with a hand, Shadiya supported herself as she moved through the narrow passage and finally emerged on the other side. A small cove was nestled here, the sands white and decorated with a variety of shells washed ashore. The ocean gleamed towards the right while a small waterfall trickled down from the cliffs above towards the left of the cove. There was plenty of open space for some dancing or in Cahira's case sword training while it was also ideal for a picnic blanket and a lunch near the waterfall.

Seeing any zanteer almost always made him think of his eldest son and the zanteer that he kept. That boy had all sorts of creatures around him. The pair fit together perfectly though, playful and curious and full of energy. Really, energetic was probably a good description for the whole family, and he wasn't sure how he had managed to keep up with all of them!
He turned his focus back to Shadiya and following the path she led him on. It was Cahira then? There was no denying the adventurous nature that lived in each of their children in one form or another; and he was grateful for it when the entered the cove. He would probably have never discovered it on his own. "It's almost as beautiful here as you are," he admired lightly. He kicked off his sandals and let his toes burrow slightly into the sand with a content sigh. Very nice, indeed!

"Right?" Shadiya replied with a giggle, her playful response covering up the flush that decorated her cheeks at her husband's compliment. "It's so nice and peaceful here too." She gushed as she moved forward and twisted in a circle around the sands, her skirts rising and swaying about her legs with the quick movements. She truly was a dancer and it was especially hard for Shadiya to not move in moments of joy like this one. It was how she expressed her happiness, her bright energy too much to contain. Kicking off her own sandals, Shadiya dug her toes into the sands with a sigh of contentment. "This really is nice...oh!" She jumped slightly before letting out a laugh as a pair of alol raced away from where she had just been walking, their vivid colors like wiggling rainbows dancing across the sands.
"I suppose if we're going to be having a picnic that we should set up and eat soon before we get distracted....by some other critters appearing of course." She added teasingly with a slight wink towards Dexurn. They had a whole afternoon to spend together and Shadiya wouldn't waste a moment of it! She sashayed her way back towards him playfully before reaching out for the basket. "Shall we?"

Dex chuckled lightly. "So humble," he teased. Well, that confidence was part of what had drawn him to her. That, and, on a less gentlemanly level, that gorgeous figure. It was only natural that his eyes linger along his wife while her fluid movements carried her across the sands. Indeed, she was the most beautiful sight there.
Once he was done swooning, he reached out his hand to take hers rather than handing over the basket and smirked. "Right. Critters. How about over there?" He tugged her over to an area of sand that was shaded in patches by the sun filtering through one of the large trees. Enough shade to not be blinded, but enough light to not be chilled by the wind.
Hearing a sharp rattle, he looked back over his shoulder. Apparently, one of the zanteer pups decided to follow after them, its little pink face peeking through where they had just been. "Looks like we might actually have a critter distraction," he mused, setting the basket down to begin setting up.

Shadiya winked playfully towards Dexurn before doing a few more dance steps. She knew that ever sashay, every slight twist was watched and it made her stomach flutter happily. When she was younger she hated some of the attention she received but now that she was older she adored it, especially from Dexurn. Shadiya would always and gladly dance for her wonderful and especially handsome husband. He was her shelter and they had been through so much together that she could never imagine her life with anyone else. Such thoughts filled her with love as she took his hand and twisted her fingers through his own. "Looks good to me." She replied as she pulled her crimson gaze away from him and towards the area that he pointed out. Perfect.
As Shadiya prepared to settle down so that they could begin their light lunch, Dexurn pointed out their extra company. "Oh?" She blinked before letting out a soft laugh, the sound almost like a purr from her throat. "I think you may be right. I suppose we'll just have to be extra careful to eat what we want before we lose the rest of our picnic." More than likely she would probably toss a few spare pieces towards the little zanteers. They were simply too cute after all! Far more adorable than the slimy alol that had crawled over her feet just now. Shadiya pursed her lips at the thought before digging her feet into the sands to shake off the creepy feeling of the little webbed feet that had touched her. It wasn't as if alol weren't cute in their own little way but they also weren't cuddly like zanteer either.

Dex chuckled lightly. "At least we won't have to worry about carrying back leftovers?" he offered playfully. He knew just as well as Shade did that those zanteer would be getting tastes of the picnic eventually. It was a fine little spread, so there surely wouldn't be too much left to spoil their furry guests with. Flana had been fun, but he wasn't eager to have more zanteer hanging around the house. "Thanks for getting this all ready for us. Have I told you lately how wonderful you are?" Truly, he was the luckiest man...

"You're not wrong." Replied Shadiya with a laugh. She knew zanteer and accepted that their meal would be shared with the playful creatures eventually. They just had to hope to at least get a couple of bites of their own first! She watched as another pup came around, it's little tail waggling as it playfully bounced on its sibling. The little one made a slight yelp noise before turning on the other pup and playfully nipping towards its ear. Once they tired of play fighting Shadiya was certain that they would come over to inspect their picnic. Let's try not to take any home...this time. She mused with a smile before glancing over towards Dexurn, her smile only brightening more at his words. "You're most welcome, sir." She replied as she moved closer to him. "I don't think you have but that's also why I prepared all of this so that we could get the chance to express how much we think of one another." Her playful response was only heightened by the way that she nudged him, her lips moving closer to his cheek to plant a light kiss against his skin.
Truly she loved her husband with all of her heart and was delighted to spend a peaceful day like this together with him.

"Let me correct that, then," Dex cooed, intercepting Shadiya's lips with his own. "So wonderful..." Times like this, Dex wished he was more of a writer and a poet. He knew there were more grand words that he could use, and it was a shame that he didn't know them. Perhaps then he might consider himself on more on the level that Shade was.
Of course, he knew plenty of ways to show her how he felt. ..At this rate, the zanteer would have a feast rather than a bite...
