Now that Brigadier General Hakan had taken command of his home life had taken on far more structure than before. It wasn’t uncommon for the housing staff to be a little more formal and hurried when he was in, but now that the grand Oban was injured there was a general sense of chaos surrounding the house. Servants scurried from room to room at all hours of the night, doing their best to keep up with demands from not only the makeshift infirmary but their boss. Sariza herself was held to a higher standard than usual seeing as she was acting on his behalf. As his heir Sariza was to act as a figurehead to his whims, which she enacted to the best of her abilities. Anything to take the stress off her father’s shoulders Sariza was all too happy to do, even if it made her into a sort of ‘bad guy’.

After all, not all the staff enjoyed being talked down to by a teenager.

Some, in fact, resented the act and refused to follow through with her orders. They knew full well Sariza held little power in the house, especially when her father was home, and even though he spoke through her they cared very little.

”We’ve been doing our work for years; we didn’t need you to tell us what to do then and we don’t need it now.” Still, when bandages started to run low because some people refused to go out on a simple errand it fell on Sariza to do it. And did she throw a fit over it? No, she didn’t, even though she really wanted to. She refused to allow her failure to inspire her ‘troops’ to prevent those injured soldiers from receiving the best medical care they could get. Healers needed supplies; supplies that her father refused to allow them to pay for themselves. Still, they would know the best places to go so after asking around Sariza gathered up a few satchels and set out into the city.

Life in Oba definitely was an adjustment. At first it had been getting accustomed to the desert heat and then it had been adjusting to the fact that she wouldn't have to hunt for every meal. Things were simpler yet more complex at the same time for certain now that she was by Karo's side. Even more so now that they were mothers. The thought made Tyiva smile to herself as she wandered into the city. While the rest of the family was off visiting with Karo's family, Tyiva had opted to wander about and see what the city had to offer. I'm just not quite ready for all those formalities just yet. It was far better to get a breath of fresh air before dinner.

Perhaps she could even buy something in the market for the triplets? Tyiva shrugged her shoulders thoughtfully. Perhaps there could be something....she would just have to visit and see.

Sariza wasn't entirely sure what to make of the market. Normally it was relatively calm at this time of day, but there was a bit of a flurry. Several shop goers were hustling away, mumbling to one another and looking over their shoulders as if they expected to be followed. Had there been a break in? Or a fight? Surely she would have heard it by now if there was, right?

Curiosity peeked, Sariza brushed past them and moved further in. What she found had her stumped. It was some kind of...canine? It was a squat creature with a thick mane of fur around it's neck and a little tail that curled over it's back. The little thing kept chasing anyone who tried to get close and hadn't stopped growling. Normally she might have just brushed it off, but it was what the creature had in it's teeth that really got her attention.

It was a little dog. Some ragged, straw stuffed thing and the little youngling who was trying to coax it away seemed scared out of her mind. "C-c-come on...don't...don't hurt her..."

It growled again and shook it's head, thus shaking the doll.

Perhaps this will do... Tyiva found her attention ripped from the object in question whenever a commotion broke out in the market. Antenna twitching as several earthlings ran past, Tyiva sighed before leaving the object behind and turning to investigate. Was someone in danger? Had a fight broken out in the market? Why was she even going this way again? Curiosity killed the perzi they say. She quipped to herself before finally spotting the standoff between the child and duruf.

"A duruf?" She whispered quietly in confusion before slowly brushing past another oban girl. "Excuse me." Tyiva bobbed her head politely before slowly crouching towards the ground and inching closer to the child and creature. "I'm assuming he's not yours, correct?" She called out in a calm voice as she kept a gaze on the duruf. It didn't look like he had hurt the girl but rather that he had found some toy and did not wish to let it go. The scene made her reminiscent of Belrea where she had seen the smaller creatures playing with their owners before. They did tend to have a habit of playing games like this...surely he just wanted to keep his prize? But if the little one didn't want her doll harmed then that was a problem indeed. Tyiva's lips curled up into an encouraging smile as she studied the two. "I think he may let go if he has something else of interest instead. I have some snacks in my satchel....shall I try that?" As she spoke she slowly reached into the small bag hanging from her waist and took out some strips of dried meat. She always carried extra snacks and sometimes even toys since becoming a mother after all. You never knew what you would need with three younglings running about, especially when on trips to the city.

Today was just getting weirder and weirder.

First the fat, angry little creature and now an alkidike. In Oba.

"N-no," The little girl sniffled. Her little cheeks were swollen and red from crying, the distress painfully obvious on her features. Sariza's heart really went out to her. That doll must mean a great deal to her. Some other child would have just run off by now...but now that she got a good look at the kid she looked dirty and her clothes were tattered. So that's it. It was probably the only toy she had and with the fear of having it taken away...

"I don't know what it...what it is..." She hiccuped, "It just took Gio Gio and now it's hurting her."

Not being able to handle much more, Sariza made her way closer and crouched down next to the pair. She took the sash from around her waist and used it to dab at the child's eyes, offering her a small smile in return. "You're very brave for staying when you're scared. I'm sure Gio Gio appreciates that." When the child seemed to calm a big, Sariza went one step further and pulled a bit of candy from her satchel. "How about you stay with me while she gets her back?"

"O-okay...Just, please don't hurt her! She isn't tough..."

Tyiva's expression softened as she studied the little one. "So I see." Her heart twisted as she realized how much the doll meant to the girl. It was so much like one of her daughters that Tyiva couldn't help but to want to wrap her arms around her and give her comfort. Thankfully the other girl came to the rescue and Tyiva smiled at her in appreciation. It was always good to have aid when facing danger after all. The thought made her gaze slip back towards the duruf who had stilled and was watching her with utmost attention. "Don't worry sweetie, I don't think he means harm."

Knowing that it was highly uncharacteristic for anyone to see any Alkidike warrior cooing to such a small animal, Tyiva pushed aside her pride and slowly inched closer. She only paused whenever the duruf let out another low growl but even then Tyiva found herself smiling. "It's okay." She whispered as she turned her hand upwards and revealed the tiny morsel inside. "I have a treat for you if you come here."

Ever so slowly the duruf inched closer. It wanted to snatch the food from Tyiva's hand but at the same time realized that if it did the doll would fall to the ground. The chubby creature let out a little 'gruff' from its throat, bouncing backwards whenever Tyiva moved her hand again and growling threateningly once more. "It's okay really." She continued urging as she tore a piece of the jerky and placed it on the ground. "Trust me it definitely will be better tasting." She teased in that soft voice as she waited for the duruf to inch forward again. The small creature huffed and moved back and forth before finally darting forward to grab the treat. However, in that moment the doll was let loose and Tyiva struck. It was simply easier to grab the duruf rather than the doll and she pulled the pudgy creature into her lap, falling backwards so that she sat on the ground and caged the duruf inside of her legs. "Hey, hey it's okay." She chided as she tried to calm it with the rest of the jerky. Still the duruf was growling and wiggling but she kept hold of him. "I can hold him while you pick up....Gio, was it?"

"She's going to get bit." The child murmured, almost as if she were far more afraid of the 'threatening beast' than the looming alkidike. Were it not for the candy she was currently suckling on Sariza might have thought the girl was going to cry again, but the sugar seemed to keep her attention.

"Even if she is, it won't hurt. Her fingers are bigger than his mouth." Sariza wiggled her fingers in front of the girl and happily enough, it brought out a little smile. She couldn't outright lie and say the alkidike wasn't going to be bit, especially from the way it was reacting to her advances, but at the very least it should just be a minor inconvenience.

All at once she had it trapped and the child was gasping, ducking behind Sariza as if it would break free and get her. As if. It clearly wasn't happy at being captured, but there was no way it was going to break free.

"C-can you get her...?" That little voice in her ear was almost so light she couldn't hear, but Sariza simply nodded her head. She moved forward, keeping an eye on the creature on impulse and snatched up the doll. It was a little worse for wear, clearly having been slobbered on, but on the whole it was okay. No tears, rips or even punctures. And if the girl cared that it was absolutely covered in drool she didn't let them know. As soon as Sariza handed Gio Gio over the child squished her doll to her chest.

"Oh thank you, thank you!"

Tyiva grinned as she watched the rescue. "Good job." She commented while holding onto the duruf. "Do you have a home, little guy?" The Alkidike pursed her lips as she continued trying to calm the disgruntled creature. At least he just seemed like he was mostly bark and no bite. Much better than dealing with some wild radaku in Jahaur. When the duruf seemingly stopped wiggling as much, Tyiva rose quietly to her feet and kept the creature in her arms. The duruf seemed fairly young and she was curious about how it came to be in Oba. Did it have an owner? Did it need a home? Her lips pursed thoughtfully before she glanced about the marketplace.

"You may want to run home to clean up Gio a bit." Tyiva spoke quietly towards the little girl as she shifted the duruf in her arms. "Looks like this guy isn't going to be a danger to you any longer." The duruf let out a whine as wiggled again but Tyiva placated it with another piece of jerky that she had clenched in her other hand. Honestly it looked like he was just hungry and had wanted something to play with as well.

"O-okay," While still a little sniffly the girl was much happier. She even flashed a smile over to Tyiva before giggling a little when Sariza ruffled her hair. With one last happy look to the pair she turned and ran off.

Once the child was gone, Sariza turned her attention back to the alkidike and duruf pair. It didn't look particularly malnourished so had it run away? "Does it have a collar?" Through all that fur she couldn't see if it belonged to anyone or not. "If it does then I can always take it to the city guard so they can spread the word, but if it doesn't..." Well, what would she do then? Keep it?

...Seeing the way it was practically coating the alkidike's arm in slobber made her think "No, no way".

"Thank you for stepping in to help." Tyiva showed her appreciation while shifting the duruf in her arms. When the girl asked about a collar she frowned and ran a finger around the creature's fluffy neck. "I cannot feel one." She mused lightly before holding out the duruf towards the girl. He was mostly docile now, a bit grumpy that he had lost a toy but other than that he was harmless. "Surely he came from some home or something. They are popular pets in Belrea, you know. I do not see how a stray could simply end up in Oba."

"Would you be able to care for it if you cannot find its home?" Tyiva asked as she glanced towards the Oban. "I have three little ones who would probably exhaust the poor pup....but if you know the city guard then it could be easy enough to find its real owner." The Alkidike gave a small smile. "Totally your choice of course. I can always try my own ways to locate an owner." Though more than likely it would be to go to the guard as well.

[6/7]

Just to double check, Sariza ran her fingers through it's thick mane and gave a little sigh. What she'd said was true; there was no collar or ribbon. Thankfully it didn't seem injured; at least from what she could tell by running her hands over it's limbs and body. Lightly, mind you, lest it's good mood suddenly change.

"I can, but it would only be temporary. My father doesn't condone distractions." And this, certainly, would be a distraction from her studies. "If it wouldn't be too much trouble would you mind taking it? Just for a while? I'll contact the guard and help to track down it's owner. In the meantime it can have some children chase after it for a change."

It was...odd, enough, to be talking to an alkidike about having children and living local, let alone bringing this creature into the mix. Were they mixed? Or had she moved out here? Still, Sariza was polite enough to keep her curiosity at bay and with a set goal in mind she quickly formulated a plan. "If after a week we haven't been able to track down the owner then I'll take it to a beast tamer." They would either take it in or help to find someone who would.

"Fair enough." Replied Tyiva though her lips pursed slightly at the reasoning. "Though if anything a pet is a good way to learn responsibilities. You need to take care of yourself certainly but taking care of another is a lesson in itself." She replied with a slight shrug of her shoulders. "Still, I do not mind taking home a duruf if you would rather not." Surely Karo would not mind and their children would be delighted to have a duruf to chase around. Tyiva scratched the duruf lightly with her fingers beneath its floof and smiled as the little curled tail wagged.

"If it does not have an owner then we will figure things out." She nodded before realization made her cheeks flush. "However, I do live in Jatine and am just visiting Sulburi." She confessed lightly. "My name is Tyiva if you would like to find me but I'm sure using my wife's name may be easier as she is better known in Oba. Her name is Karothdra."

"Pets will eventually pass. They're an easily exploitable weakness and lead the heart to softness. With all due respect, I can't afford that kind of vulnerability." Still, her eyes were sweet when she touched the duruf. He was an ugly little thing, but...also sort of cute, with that scrunched up nose. "Besides, I'm not much fun; I'm sure you're little ones would love him more." If it was enough a 'he', after all.

At the admission of travel, Sariza's eyes widened and she found herself clucking her tongue. "Of course, I should have asked - Forgive me, I shouldn't have assumed." Honestly, the one time she hadn't just taken someone's appearance for a traveler... "My name is Sariza. I'll try to make my investigation quick, and once I have my findings I'll send them to you in Jatine."

"I suppose if that's how you feel." Tyiva replied quietly though her heart felt heavy. Who had taught such a young one such things? It seemed too strict, too bitter even for her. Perhaps I have gotten softer living in Oba. She mused lightly though she did not ignore the girl's sweet gaze when she did touch the duruf. Perhaps she would change her mind in the future but for now Tyiva was fine taking care of the little creature.

"You are fine." Tyiva shook her head. "For all you knew I could have easily lived in Sulburi. As it is, Sariza, I thank you for your help once more." She nodded her head respectfully. "I'll await your findings and worst case I will have another little one to take care of." She teased lightly. "Even if they pass the love that they provide makes everything worthwhile. Just a word of advice from a traveler. Take care." Waving one last time she took the duruf along with her on her way back towards her family. Her children would be having a lot of fun with the little guy, that much she was certain of.
