Emiyn was still adjusting to Belrea. The Matori had recently ventured overseas to acquire medicine from the new continent for his ailing grandmother but upon arrival had instantly found himself thrust into the heart of a festival. It would have almost felt familiar to any festival he had experienced in Sulburi but the setting itself was vastly different. The paved walkways, the brick buildings and the lights! That's not magic? He peered closer at one of the gas lamps before being pulled into the crowd again .There apparently had been a few shows in the center of the town square, a small stage attested to the fact, and now a lot of the citizens had started wandering the various stalls with food and knickknacks. A trio of younglings rushed by pushing the lithe Matori backwards into another group of Belreans. "My apologies!" He managed as he spun on a heel to back away. Emiyn almost knocked over several things from a vendor's stall in the process, a chiming noise marking the box of bells as it spilled towards the ground.
"Watch it, lady!" The older geian frowned as Emiyn quickly bent down to try and gather the spilled trinkets, his nerves making it harder for his fingers to wrap around the smaller pieces.
"I'm really sorry." He replied quietly not even bothering to correct the merchant, his soft voice already making things more complicated. His silk tunic and attire from Oba covered his petite frame and his graceful movements also didn't help with his masculinity or rather lack of it which often resulted in Emiyn being called miss. His mother was a beautiful woman and he had managed to inherit so much of her appearance within his own that it was amazing that he had actually been born a boy instead of a girl. His expressions were also inherited from his mother, the slight way he pursed his lips thoughtfully whenever he was gathering the trinkets and the way that his golden gaze widened whenever he spotted one of the bells rolling down the street. Oh no. "I'll retrieve it!" He promised the merchant before placing the box back into its place and darting down the street after the rolling culprit. Admittedly it did make a pretty chiming sound as it rolled, the larger ornament easily big enough to fit into the palm of his hand and yet elegant enough to produce such a delicate sound.
Whenever he chased after the bell he found himself stumbling into yet another person, this time a geian boy who bent down to help him to gather the mischievous trinket. “Here.” He offered the bell to Emiyn with a faint smile. “Looks like you’re a bit lost?
“Am I?” Emiyn blinked back with a soft laugh. “I guess I am rather misplaced, right?” He definitely did stand out in the crowd of Belreans with their leathers, their strange outfits and the girls in dresses with corsets tightly hugging their waists while others carried around various weapons that shot magic apparently. He was just a slender boy with windswept curls that hid his delicate face, his appearance foreign yet still recognized as pretty in the sea of strangers. It was such a realization that had him flushing right now as he noticed that the geian’s eyes were intently studying him, the gaze lingering along his own jawline. “Either way thank you for picking this up.” Emiyn held up the bell as he stood, the flickering lights and colors from the festival decorations making him feel slightly dizzy. Thankfully the Geian once again helped him, his hands taking a moment longer than necessary to make certain that Emiyn was settled before finally letting go.
“You should really be careful. Are you sure you’re ok?” He asked with a slight frown as he continued to studied Emiyn. The geian wasn’t bad looking either but he definitely was far more masculine that poor Emiyn who felt like this was once again going to turn into a misunderstanding.
Instead of wanting to address anything, Emiyn just found himself nodding. “I am! Thank you again. I really should return this.” Before the confused man could speak another word Emiyn found himself dashing down the street and back towards the vendor. Of course he only paused to take one last wistful look towards the box of interesting chimes and trinkets, his empty pockets weighing surprisingly heavily on his mind. It was only at that moment that the geian caught up to him and without asking tossed a coin to the vendor so that he could toss the bell towards Emiyn. “I’m sorry?” Emiyn blinked in confusion as he glanced towards the stranger.
“It seems like it’s your first festival in the city so take it as a memento.” He flashed a grin, “Could always give you a tour as well if you wanted.”
At this point Emiyn was simply too tired and flustered to decline the invitation and so with a faint nod he prepared to follow the Geian around the festival to enjoy the rest of his night.
