Prompt
Tendaji is filled with a wide array of wildlife, some friendly and some a bit dangerous. It's rare that an inhabitant of the world will spend a day without encountering a wild creature in passing, be it from hunting, traveling, or even taking care of a pet. The creatures of this world only seem to add to the colorful experiences that Earthlings, Aishans, and Kahikinans have each and every day.

[ For this prompt, we want you to pick one (or more) fauna in Tendaji and have your character encounter them in some way. Maybe it's catching a new pet, or animal watching, or maybe it's a hunting trip. Take some time to explore the flora and fauna thread and create a story around your character's experience with the creature(s). ]

It was a brisk sunny morning in the manor. Eresin slept with the window open the night before, allowing a gentle cool breeze to flow into the room. When he felt the air whisk past his face, he slowly faded into consciousness. Ah, it's going to be a great day. I can feel it in my bones. He stirred ever so gently, being careful not to wake his wife sleeping next to him. He turned on his side, and propped his head on his hand as he examined her features. He absolutely adored everything about her, and loved showing his affection, even if she would sometimes get annoyed at him for maybe showing a little too much. He reflected on their lives together, their hardships, when they had fallen so madly in love, and how far they have come. Power couple of the century! Time was just passing them by, peacefully most of the time. They raised a family together, and did what they could to keep peace. Just yesterday, they even saw their children off on their own adventure. It's hard to believe we've come this far, but we did it.

He was definitely a sentimental hopeless romantic, but he didn't care, as long as they were happy. Eresin slowly leaned in and kissed her cheek softly, while hugging her close. "Good morning, Tali." He softly spoke. He wanted to share yet another day with her, as he wanted to share all of them together. Perhaps they would go to the market for the day? Or maybe even go out and about to have some food at the tavern nearby? Or what about just running around in the fields with a bunch of animals in tow, just laughing together for no reason The thought was silly, but made him smile.

Talisia loved the warmer months of summer. Even though they lived in Zena the estate was technically along the borders of Sauti so they could experience the seasons. Spring was nice and airy with the slightest chill lingering from winter's cold kiss lingering in the breeze. Their summers may have not been the warmest in comparison to the rest of Tendaji but their fields did become green and many varieties of plants grew in their gardens during these months. What Talisia enjoyed the most was being able to keep the windows in the stone manor open throughout the nights. It allowed in a lovely draft which aired out the whole manor. Honestly just like the summer months in Zena it appeared that her life was in its best chapter. She had a loving family and a dear husband who warmed her heart with his silliness whenever he was home and not traveling around the world. She had created a sanctuary in a place that once had been owned by a woman of nightmares and now healing and hope happened within these halls rather than torture and sorrow. Talisia had found her place in the world and conquered her fears with the help of those she loved. She would be forever grateful to her family and her lover for their support.

And now even her children were venturing out into the world. It definitely looked like it was a new chapter for everyone and even Tally wondered where it could lead her family next. Kian was here now with his lover and children so it wasn't like the halls were empty and quiet. Honestly it seemed louder than ever with the younglings causing all sorts of havoc with their playful natures. Not that Talisia minded. She enjoyed spoiling the boys and watching them play. It was like seeing her twins growing up all over again. Perhaps Kian could mind whenever he found the nursey overflowing with new toys but Talisia couldn't help herself. The boys were seriously just too cute.

Either way her own children had finally gone off to adventures and that left Talisia alone with her husband for the day. Talisia yawned as her fingers drifted down towards Eresin's hands that hugged around her waist. "Good morning." She replied sleepily as she leaned against him, a small smile flickering across her lips as she wiggled closer. While Eresin was not always home due to his magical quests she did enjoy the moments like these that they did manage to spend together. "It's strangely quiet..." She tried to begin before loud chirping from the birds outside broke her sentence followed with the crashing of something down the hallway and the echoes of an adult chasing after a toddler. "Okay, perhaps not." Talisia laughed quietly before glancing towards Eresin. "At least we're child free sort of." She teased lightly as she pecked a kiss against his cheek. "What would you like to do with our new found freedom today?

Eresin chuckled at the noise they had heard downstairs. It would seem the chaos of a toddler was never too early to strike. While he enjoyed the presence of others, sometimes he just wished it would be just him and Tally to blissfully waste a day together. Though we could find ways outside of the manor, he thought to himself. "Hm, well I have a few things in mind. Squish!" He said as he squeezed her gently while nuzzling her cheek. He was such a dork and he knew it, but that's one of the things he loved about Tally. He felt he could just be himself around her without any judgement.

"Let's see," He tapped his chin. "I was thinking we could make a nice, big breakfast together, and maybe go out for a stroll. The weather is lovely today, and the breeze brings about a nice, sweet and cool air." He looked into her bi-colored eyes. Still as stunning as ever. He couldn't help letting a smile across his face. When he realized he was staring, he cleared his throat and blinked a few times. "I mean, unless you had anything in mind."

"Really?" Talisia couldn't help to laugh as they rubbed their cheeks together. A warmth spread through her chest at the obvious affection from Eresin and it was hard not to smile at his antics. It would be nice if they were truly alone for the day....she blushed at the thought before realizing that he was staring at her. "Hmm....a stroll does sound nice!" She replied as she wiggled free and quickly stood up from the bed. They had the master chambers of the manor, something that she had only agreed to after lots of renovations were done to brighten up the once dreary room. Now they had a canopy bed that had drapes of the palest blues decorated with silver and gold starbursts. It was before a great stone fireplace that in the winter would keep the whole room toasty with its large and crackling fires while there was a smaller study desk in a pale yellow wood that held piles of Eresin's tomes and Talisia's medical journals. A hanging chandelier of fine crystals and cream candles was above them and the floors were of the finest white and gray stone cut from the mountains of northern Zena. Shelves had been built into the walls to hold even more books and little baubles that Eresin and Talisia picked up on their travels throughout Tendaji. It was definitely a cozy room with even a large chaise before the fireplace so that they could read while nestled together in the evenings. Eresin was fond of strategy games and they even had a small card table in front of glass doors leading to a balcony that overlooked the acres upon acres of land that housed various beasts from throughout the continent. Even the stained glass windows in the room that used to be darker with menacing images had been replaced with scenes of violet sunrises and a raptrix with its pale wings spread out in flight. Talisia loved everything about the room now. They had worked hard to chase away the darkness of the past and it definitely showed.

Slipping out of her sleeping robes, the hybrid woman opened the larger wardrobe and pulled out a simple tunic and leggings for the day. It was warm enough that she would not need furs and instead she opted for the deep blue material that clung to her hourglass figure and was decorated with a series of intricately woven threads of silvers and gold. Her leather leggings hugged her tone legs like a second skin and she easily slipped into a pair of long boots that had worn down heels from many hours of walking. As she bent down to finish tying the laces, Talisia glanced towards her husband with a small smile. "Did you want to make breakfast or just grab something light to carry with us? We still have some bread and fruits left and there's always the dried meats. I don't think the twins took all of it when they left yesterday." The words were spoken with a smile but a knot of worry did tighten in her chest. The twins would be fine on their own, right? She had made that training course and the trials challenging enough that if they passed surely they could hold their own in a fight....oh spirits. Was this what it felt like to be a mother with children leaving the nest? The thought made Talisia crinkle her nose in distaste. She much preferred the chaos of the younglings to this. At least then she knew that she could be the one to keep them safe.

Eresin stayed in bed and watched Talisia undress. He took in the sight of her as he thought to himself, damn. He never got tired of seeing her curves and soft skin, her fluffy white hair and hourglass figure. He then groaned as her naked figure soon became clothed. Ah well, there will be time for that later. He got up and undressed from his sleeping tunic and picked out some light clothes for himself from the open wardrobe. He nudged Tally towards the mirror, as he stood behind her, and wrapped his arms around her waist. He smiled at their reflections, admiring how cute they looked together.

After a few moments, he answered her question. "Well, I suppose we could just take breakfast to go. That would leave us more time to spend together." He caught sight of her uneasiness and he could guess at her thoughts. He knew her so well by this point that he could surmise her mind was on the twins. "They'll be okay, my love. We've done all we can to prepare them for their journey." He held her tight and kissed her cheek to comfort and assure her. Eresin only hoped he could distract her from her worries during the day, but even he would think of the twins from time to time and hope they were okay. He knew they would be, but as a parent he couldn't help but worry a little anyway.

A slight blush decorated her cheeks as she leaned against Eresin. Even now it was easy for her to get flustered by the sorcerer. "It's probably for the best." Replied Talisia quietly as he agreed to a quick breakfast. "Else we may get roped into playing with the twins." She couldn't help teasing about Kian's boys but honestly she adored them. It was just so strange to think that her older twin was a father. A father! Truly we're getting old. She joked lightly before reaching up to flick Eresin's nose playfully. "Yes, yes. I know. I just...well you also know how reckless they can sometimes be. Almost reminds me of someone." She forced a grin as she thought of their own twins who were facing the world already. She truly did need some sort of distraction today. Even if she tried her best to be supportive of their young warriors it did nothing to ease the worry in her heart. She just hoped they didn't get dragged into shenanigans that involved burning a building in Oba. Now that was one memory someone would never let her live down. The thought made her cheeks darken slightly as she pulled away and tugged Eresin to follow her from their room.

"Let's go on downstairs and gather things." She stated simply as she started down the hallway, her footsteps echoing in the now quieter upstairs. The twins had rooms down the hallway right before the master staircase. It took all of Talisia's resolve to not glance towards the rooms as she headed downstairs and towards the kitchens. Talisia wasted no time as she grabbed one of the woven baskets and opened the lid. Now where did we leave the bread? Thankfully Zyphire had made a batch just the other day before the twins left on their adventures. Now she just had to hope that it was still where she left it and not in the hands of two rambunctious children. Pursing her lips, Tally reached out a hand to grab at some of the apples so that she could place them in the one hanging from her arm.

Eresin allowed her to lead him down the stairs. As they made their way to the kitchens, he whispered, "Quietly now, lest we get the attention of the children." As she rummaged around for the bread and gathered a basket and fruits, Eresin looked in some of the cabinets for miscellaneous things they might need. As he opened cabinet after cabinet, he saw jars storing their dried meats and nuts. Then it hit him, all at once. Forget everything we just planned. A picnic in the woods! Just surrounded by nature and the animals of the sanctuary! Of course, it was the perfect plan. A romantic picnic out in the nice weather.

He grabbed the jars, and stuffed them into the basket Tally was holding on her arm without a word. Then he grabbed some glasses from another cabinet, and went to the linen closet they had in the kitchen. He rummaged around for some napkins and a large blanket. He put the napkins in her basket as well and draped the blanket over his arm. He went back to the cabinets and searched for a fine wine, nothing too fancy, but not cheap either, grabbed it, and waited by the door that led outside from the manor. He smiled at Talisia and stuck out his elbow for her to come hang on to. "Milady."

Talisia raised a brow as Eresin started to throw a variety of things into her basket. Whatever was he up to now? The beast master found a small smile spreading across her features as she could only guess at his intentions. "Sir." She replied quietly as she slipped her arm through the offered one. "Do you have a destination in mind or should I pick a random spot? The northern fields have a small waterfall that should be pretty around this time of year." She mused lightly as she tugged her husband towards the backdoor of the manor. It would allow them to leave the kitchens and move into the back courtyard where fences were built along a large barn like structure and smaller sheds.

Beyond the barn were open rolling fields with various creatures. Talisia smiled as she saw some roati frolicking together in one of the larger enclosures. The creatures were usually playful and not as shy as their wild counterparts. They were accustomed to being taken care of and Talisia's family enjoyed using their wool to craft and for trade with the village up north. She could only shake her head at their playful antics before tugging at her husband's arm almost impatiently. Where would they end up going? She already had an idea of his intentions from the items he had gathered but now the question was their destination.

As they walked the fields with their picnic basket and wine in tow, Eresin inhaled deeply to take in the fresh air. As Tally tugged him along, he tried to think of a place they could go for a picnic in secret. He chuckled at her frequent tugs, "You seem excited." He teased, while also sounding excited himself. He couldn't hide the fact that he was also really looking forward to their little date in the woods. He looked around at the variety of animals in the fields. It seemed they too were all happy with how the day was turning out as they played amongst each other. One especially small raptrix ran circles around them as an excited greeting before running back to it's group of friends.

Then, Eresin remembered a circular clearing in the trees near a small stream he had taken Taaru out for concentration practice a few times before. It would be a really peaceful spot to be together. Secluded, and private, away from the chaos that was sometimes the manor grounds. He looked at Talisia, "I know a spot not too far from here." He led her through some trees at a stroll of a pace, keeping to the gentleman's code and helping her over roots and fallen branches, even though he knew she could very well get over them on her own. She is much more agile than I am, and she could certainly beat me in a fight, that's for sure. His mind reflected to back when they were younger, and decided to spar together for some combat training, ending in Talisia absolutely wiping the floor with him. Eresin was simply trying to set a blissful mood and show her the utmost courtesy. She was, after all, his most precious lady and queen.(edited)
[1:38 AM]
After some walking and weaving past trees, branches, roots and the like, they had finally arrived at the clearing he was talking about. "Well, here we are. This should be peaceful enough, I hope." He said with a chuckle. He spread the blanket out on a soft spot in the dirt, and gestured for Tally to sit down. Their blissful picnic was about to begin.

"Nah." Talisia rolled her eyes teasingly. "I'm honestly about ready to fall asleep." She nudged Eresin almost playfully as they walked along. With everything going on lately, including preparing the twins for their travels and helping Kian settled in with his young family, Talisia hadn't gotten much alone time with her husband. Her expression only grew brighter as the young pup ran around them, her hand darting out to brush against the feathered fur before the raptrix disappeared again. A pair of kinfa flew overhead, their brilliant violet and green colors striking against the blue skies. It truly looked like it was going to be a beautiful day after all.

"Okay." Talisia nodded as she trailed after Eresin and allowed him to escort her towards the clearing. While she was a master warrior it didn't hurt to allow her husband some things. The thought brought a small grin across her lips as she secretly held back a few vines here and there to keep them from thwacking him in the back. "Afterwards we should hike further towards the waterfalls." She mentioned quietly. It would be a beautiful view especially if they stayed out towards sunset. The violet skies would look lovely alongside the pristine waters. Speaking of lovely... Talisia smiled as she entered the clearing. "I think so." She agreed as she studied the quiet clearing. "It's nice." Sitting down she watched as Eresin began to prepare their picnic. "Are you sure you don't want any help?" She offered, a brow raised questioningly, as she sat on the ground and trailed her fingers through the grass. Summer was definitely by far her favorite season especially in Zena. Not too hot but warm enough to chase away the cold. Talisia let out a content sigh as she leaned back against the ground and studied the skies, her head only moving to take a peek towards Eresin every few moments or so while he worked.

"I can handle this." Eresin said as he finished up unpacking everything from the basket. He turned to Tally, who was now laying down in the grass, and he chuckled. "Well, my queen, your lunch is served," He bowed slightly and gestured her towards the picnic blanket. Everything was perfect. As Eresin turned back towards their setup, he noticed something was off. "What in the world-?" He examined the picnic blanket and noticed that their fruits and bread Eresin literally just unpacked had gone missing!

He whipped around back to Tally with an extremely confused look. "But I-I-I..." He stammered on his words, unable to even fathom what was going on. He could have sword he brought the fruits. No I definitely brought them. I just unpacked them... "Uhh... Huh?" He had no words at all. He looked towards his wife for some sort of insight on the matter.

"Thank you." Talisia replied though she couldn't help the mischievous grin that flickered across her face. While Eresin had turned his back a small white blur had darted cross the open field and managed to snag as much as its mouth could hold. Following it were smaller versions, their long ears and fluffy tails making them almost identical save for the various small gray and black spots decorating their fur. Whenever he husband turned towards her, Talisia slowly pointed a hand towards the right. Sitting up she waited for Eresin to follow her gaze towards the family of paraks who were munching happily on their newly acquired meal.

Honestly the kits were just too cute to watch and Talisia couldn't find it in herself to get angry at them. Instead she just laughed as she quietly moved towards Eresin and nudged him playfully. "It looks like they really appreciated your picnic." She teased as she wrapped an arm around his. "I suppose we could just have a big dinner when we get back later." Talisia watched the playful kits as they chased each other with the various food items. Her bi-colored gaze traveled from the small pack of paraks and back towards her husband. "I also know of some good berry bushes if you would like." Despite missing breakfast Talisia seemed to be in a good mood. How could she not be whenever they were getting to spend the day together like this?

Eresin's gaze followed to where Tally had been looking and pointing to. He tried to suppress a laugh as he watched the mischievous animals munch on their picnic food. "Well, I guess the food is good. I only wish they had shared with us." He said as his stomach growled. Though part of him was a bit sad that they wouldn't get to eat their meal, he was having a great time with his wife. He always appreciated any amount of time he got to spend with her, even if their plans didn't exactly work the way he originally intended.

He nodded at her suggestion of a big dinner later, and sat down next to her, holding her close and watching the paraks chow down. They seemed happy with their meal, though he guessed that they lived somewhere nearby, close enough that they could scavenge some food from their other animals at the sanctuary. Their brazen actions certainly seemed to reflect that theory. That would also explain why sometimes some of the animals had a much bigger appetite at random. Silly, cute kits. I wonder how long they've been around here. Come to think of it, Eresin hadn't seen any paraks living near them before. Perhaps Talisia would be on the lookout for them in the future to join their large family of a variety of animals. Well, that would be in an ideal world. Still, it would be nice.

"That would be too easy." Quipped back Talisia with a light smile as she wrapped an arm around Eresin. "At least they're cute." Her gaze studied the playful creatures thoughtfully as they pranced about and nipped at each other over the food. If they were so close to the manor then she was certain that they would see the tricksters again. I suppose I should prepare for that and make certain to keep the food stores locked. She shook her head in amusement at the thought of the chaos which could erupt if one of those kits got into the stores and dragged any of the grain bags through the fields. The roati would have a fit for one and she could only guess how many of the younger mamu would come after it. The kinfa and xaraan as well...

Nudging her husband, Talisia let out a soft laugh. "Looks like they at least left us one roll." She commented as she shifted forward and reached for a piece of bread. The roll was soft and little seeds and nuts decorated the top. Talisia popped half of the roll into her mouth before offering the other half to Eresin. "Mmmm. Tasty." She commented in between chews before swallowing. Something was better than nothing, right? Fighting a yawn she leaned against Eresin for support and watched as the kits played together. They were cute and despite the chaos that they had brought to the picnic Talisia found herself enjoying watching them. Even if the day hadn't gone exactly as planned so far it wasn't wasted. They had gotten to spend time together after all and could make a big dinner later tonight to make up for the lack of lunch. The thought brought a small smile to her lips as she relaxed alongside her husband and enjoyed the warm summer day.
