Mid-Season Harvest Festivals
Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7
Prompt With so many inhabitants of Tendaji still working the lands, it's common that a festival or party is held to celebrate the transition to a new season. With summer in swing, it's about time to celebrate again. This transition goes from cultivating the land to full-harvest, so many hold celebrations to thank the gods for rain, earth, and successful growth of their plants.
Be it on Tendaji where the Earthlings celebrate thanks for their crops and land, or the Aishans thank their great mothers for prosperous hunts, or even Kahikinan where they celebrate a transition from the heavy rain season, all of Tendaji has reason to gather during the summer months.
[ For this prompt, find someone to celebrate a the change of a season wherever your character is. If your character is alone, now is a great time to consider the transition of the season versus the transition of your life. ]

It had been a while since Ujana last visited Tale. Ever since her father and sister had taken off on their own travels she hadn't really felt the need to come around her birth country, let alone spend any extended amount of time here. At best she would meet Odhran at the border to see Eurig off, but after that....
However, life had changed and now Ujana was seeing the savannah in a new light. The initial urge to travel had been a purely selfish desire, but now that she was seeing a festival of all things she couldn't help wondering how her family might have enjoyed it. Were there any in Jauhar right now? Were the twins going? Was Ariya?
This festival was vaguely familiar to her though, and when Ujana asked about it her suspicions were confirmed. Where as other areas of Tendaji were celebrating the harvest season Tale was simply happy that the flood season was over. It explained why the ground had been so soggy on her way in, but it bothered her that she hadn't automatically known why. How long have I been away?
Pursing her lips, the leafling maneuvered around the festival grounds towards a common area. A platform had been built high above the soggy ground with railing around the sides, and a plethora of decorations. She knew instantly by the sounds of tapping soles and music that it was made for dancing, and who was Ujana to resist?

Ah, the wonders of Tale. Zyphire grinned as he navigated through the crowd of festival goers. The wandering swordsman had been on his way back from Matori towards Zena when the loud music and smell of food had caught his attention. Unsurprisingly, he had allowed his feet to wander away from the road and into the colorful village instead. He was not one to simply let amusements pass on by and he found his expression lighting up even more when he noticed a lovely leaf woman who seemed eager to dance.
"Care to spin a few rounds with me?" Zyphire bravely asked as he approached the leaaf woman with a smile, his hand outstretched to take her own if she was so willing. "I personally like having a dance partner after all and the music is lively." The crowd was already bobbing to the beat and he found it hard to resist not tapping his own feet to the strings that surely sounded like their momentum would set the instruments on fire soon.

Turning her attention to the voice, and seeing it was a shifter, of all things, made Ujana laugh. "Sorry, it's not you. It's just that this is my first time back in Tale after living for...years in Jauhar and then here you are." Still, she couldn't help grinning and taking his hand. He was bold, she'd give him that, and having a partner would be so much funner than dancing alone.
Thankfully the music was lively enough that blending in with the dancers was relatively seemless. It was folksy, without any of that city flare she'd come to know in Oba, but somehow Ujana liked this better. "I should warn you, I'm a toe stepper."

Oof. Zyphire almost pursed his lips into a pout until the leaf woman explained herself. "Ah." He chuckled, his lips curling upwards into a sly grin. "Maybe that's why I was attracted to you. Felt something familiar and hot." Because spirits she was definitely a looker. The shifter couldn't help admiring her as he took her hand and her comment simply brought another chuckle. "Toe stepper? No problem. I've got boots for a reason." After all the hits he had taken from fighting what would be a few more injuries?
The music flaring to life once more as a new song began, Zyphire started to lead the way towards the dance floor and twisted his new partner about. "The name is Zyphire by the way. And you are?" He couldn't help the gleam that lit his silver gaze. It had been a while since he truly had fun and it seemed that this festival would be entertaining after all.

Familiar and hot? It was such a bold, eye rolling line that Ujana instantly loved it. There was no way she could miss the way he looked at her, and it wasn't as if Ujana wasn't used to those looks. She knew she was attractive, reveled in it in fact, and knowing she still looked amazing after raising four kids was a confidence booster. "Zyphire? Are you sure your name isn't trouble?" Ujana twisted to the music, falling in step with her partner and a little off beat. While an enthusiastic dancer, Ujana was far from graceful and it showed.
With each new beat Ujana moved her body in ways that was more or less an embarrassment to any professional dancer. Still, she was obviously having fun, and it showed by the glint in her eyes. "I'm Ujana. So, I gotta ask, what's a shifter doing in Tale? Besides catting around, that is."

Zyphire gave a low chuckle at the question. "I suppose sometimes it could be trouble. Just depends on the situation." He quipped back with a sly grin. "Depends on who wants trouble or just needs a helping hand." He could gladly offer her some trouble if she wanted but mostly he was just enjoying the moment. Even if it was a bit dangerous for his toes, his swift reflexes kept him mostly out of the injury zone and Zyphire found himself having fun as he tried to match his partner's enthusiasm for the music. Now these were the things he loved about traveling. Zenan cities weren't always as lively and sometimes a bit too cold, especially the further north you went with all those stuck up nobles. Though he had found that sometimes those pointy ears could easily warm up with the right amount of attention.
Speaking of pointy ears...Zyphire found himself studying the leaf woman as they twisted about. "Hmm?" He replied with another grin as he tugged his partner away from another swirling couple, saving them from collision but pulling her against his well defined chest for a brief moment. "I run errands for my cousins so I find myself traveling often. I actually live mostly in Zena and only come catting around whenever I find the right sort of attraction." He winked at her teasingly before pulling away again to resume the dance.

Ujana rotated her hips back and forth in tune with the music, popping her hip at oddly appropriate moments. The jeweled belt around her waist made a flurry of noise at each moment, making her clear attempts to do it more all the more childish. "Zena, huh? Can't say I've ever been, but maybe I should." She had mostly thought about traveling south, but now Ujana wondered how lively the icelands were. If more people up north were like this then she might have a good time. And yet, she didn't want to get that far away from her family...
Oh ho ho, he really was trouble. Muscle pressed against muscle under thin clothing and Ujana could only imagine what sort of 'trouble' she'd be in if she were just a few years younger. Or single, for that matter. She could really tear this guy up.
Of course, in all the excitement and movement, Ujana did just as promised. When she moved to step away from him she stomped square on his foot.

"Go for it, Ujana." Zyphire replied eagerly. "Zena could use some fresh blood to heat it up a bit." He smirked playfully as he thought about it. "I would be going that way if you needed a guide." Though the comment did make him wonder as they continued their dance and conversation both. "So you're traveling lately? Not into Jahaur anymore?" If so he would gladly show her around Zena if she wanted some fresh scenery. As a traveler himself he understood the appeal of new places. It kept things interesting and that was why he often volunteered to go and gather supplies for the sanctuary up north.
His thoughts tumbled to a stop when the promised stomping came. "Oof." Zyphire grimaced before shaking it off with a grin. "I guess just need to give you a lift to help out on occasion." He managed as he placed his hands on her hips and and smiled. "May I?" It would all be solely for dancing fun after all. The music was already changing and picking up even more pace so he wondered how much more his feet would be suffering for today's amusement.

"They won't know what hit them!" She laughed, passing a grin to Zyphire. "I'll melt mountains and turn the North upside down." As it was, most Zenans she met weren't exactly the 'adventurous' sort. It was why she hadn't contemplated going, and in all honestly, she was happy she hadn't moved on further. If she had she might have missed the summer festival entirely.
"My girlfriend's still in Jauhar, with our youngest two," Ujana stepped forward to take his hand, pulling him in close when the dancers started to shift around once more. Just as quickly as she'd pulled him in, however, Ujana let him go. "I used to own a tavern, but recently I sold it and now I'm doing a little traveling." Of course she didn't mention she'd destroyed it in a hissy fit, but really, who cared?
And once again, Ujana laughed, except this time it came out more as a surprised cackle. "You think you can help me dance? If it were that easy I'd be a master by now." In all honesty, she didn't mind the hands on her hips; she'd felt more intimate positions in fights, after all.

Zyphire let out a laugh of his own, pure delight reflecting in his silver gaze at the fiery spirit of his dancing partner. "Why not? I would love to see it!" So many of those living in Zena needed to learn to sweat a little bit more. He would love to see how Ujana would make some of them feel. A little flustered perhaps? A few shades of violet would do some of those blue skinned, ice bloods good. He chuckled some more at the thought before her next words made his spirits fall just a little.
Ah, damn. He gave a shrug of his shoulders as he came closer to Ujana and then separated from her again as dancers twisted around them. Even if she was taken there was no harm in some playful flirting. If anything it seemed that she was having fun as well so why stop now? "I see. So how is traveling treating you? Better than settled life?" He teased lightly as his hands rested on her hips. "I was not lying about my offer either. It's nice to have some company on the road if you did want to explore some of Zena."
As Ujana cackled at his question, Zyphire grinned. "Well there's only one way to find out, no?" He asked before lifting her as the song hit its crescendo. Hoping that she could trust him, Zyphire twisted Ujana up in the air and around his body before letting her down to the ground for the final beats of the fading song. "Not too bad." He managed after taking a moment to breathe again.

"Sooo much better." Ujana place a hand on his bicep as they moved, occasionally using it to nudge him away from other dancers. "I miss my family, but I don't miss all that paperwork!" Every little complaint about the 'cleanliness of the bar' to 'I ordered a drink two blinks ago, where is it? I don't care how busy you are' seemed to melt off her the longer she was on the road. And being back in Tale after so long only solidified her decision to travel.
It was absolutely thrilling to be lifted, even more so when she was so sure they would both fall! She hadn't expected him to actually make the spin, but when he pulled it off, albeit breathlessly, Ujana couldn't help feeling giddy. "Okay, okay, my turn~" Instead of taking the stereotypical feminine dancer's role, Ujana placed her hands in much the same position he had his and grinned at the shifter in full on challenge.

Zyphire shook his head. "I do not blame you. Paperwork is truly the devil." Part of the reason he would never run a business himself. He would just go day by day and wing life with whatever pay he got from his errands and protecting others. "I could not imagine settling and having a family myself. It's far too much fun to just roam and see what each day brings." He commented with a small grin. Perhaps if he did have a family he would be inclined to stay in place but thankfully he didn't intend on anything like that any day soon. For now he just preferred living his life and enjoying festivals such as these with beautiful strangers.
Quirking a brow at her enthusiam, Zyphire only hesitated for a moment before letting out a laugh. "Why not? Let's do this!" He winked at Ujana and braced himself for the lift. She looked strong so they would just see how well that balanced out with her graceful endeavors at dancing. Zyphire was one to enjoy life and not worry about risks and the ideal roles for his gender. What was the harm in just enjoying a dance with a strong and beautiful woman who also wanted to take a few risks?

"You could always try both." It had taken her a while to figure out she could have it all, but Ujana was happier now than she'd ever been. Granted, as much as she adored her newfound freedom, it would have been nice to have her family with her at the festival. As much fun as she was having, Ujana knew it would have been nicer to have the kids and Ariya with her to share in the cultural aspects at least.
Then again, it was nice just to party for once without worrying about who her kids were talking to and what they might break.
In one quick, fluid motion Ujana hoisted Zyphire high into the air. She twirled the shifter like some kind of prized hunt, displaying both her strength and the value of her 'kill'.

"Fair enough. Maybe one day." Zyphire replied with a small shrug. If he found the right person perhaps. Though they would have to be willing to truly fight to tie him down. He pushed aside such thoughts and decided it was best to simply enjoy the festivities happening now. As he was lifted into the air the shifter let out a laugh. Well it was definitely one version of some dance at least. If anything today definitely had been something different and he enjoyed everyone moment of it.
Let's just hope I don't end up falling flat on my face. He teased as he prepared to enjoy the rest of the dance with Ujana.
