- Knives - Yo, this is a dangerous city, and Amadeus is a pretty man who doesn’t want anyone to get away with thinking they can pull any shenanigans on him. He likes to think he is dangerous, himself and isn’t shy about proving it when he feels the situation necessitates it. He is both a collector of ornamental blades, as well as practiced in knife combat and throwing. There is always at least one hiding on his person or within arm’s reach, even when he is particularly scantily clad. In an ideal world, he thinks he’d like to be able to forge them himself, but Ama is a bit too impatient, forges are hot, and he has no talent for it. That doesn’t stop him from trying, but his failures mostly serve as a source of complaint.
Secretly loves tabletop/card games - But absolutely does not want to look like he loves tabletop games, so is more practiced in the theory of them, rather than the actual gameplay (unless playing yourself counts). They seem like kind of childish games, and some of the more collection-oriented ones can be expensive, so Ama isn't thrilled about his interest in them and desperately tries not to act on them. But he can't help but pick up one new figurine or a single card pack whenever he happens to wander by his favorite game store, and the figures at least offer some other form of activity, since they can be painted and played with. It isn't a complete waste, really... The online versions of things (like Magic the Gathering) are fine too, and at least those can be limited to just a one-time purchase.
Yoga - When Ama is alone, he does yoga to relax, stretch, and exert himself a little without getting sweaty and tired. He appreciates the peace of working out by himself, but he does prefer doing it in a group. Amadeus attends group sessions led by an instructor, although he is more practiced at it than most of the novices who join for their New Year's resolutions or their pre-wedding diets and then quit after a month or two. He loves showing off complex positions and his flexibility, and if it has the added benefit of enticing strangers to take an interest in his massage business, then who is he to complain? He can be caught flexing his abilities at the park or beach, where any random passerby can approach.
Virtues:
- Relaxed - Amadeus does a lot of activities that serve almost exclusively to relax him or make him feel good about himself, and it works. He isn’t a man that holds a lot of anxiety or doubt around him, and he has been blessed with very little strife in his life. The usual culprits of fear and uncertainty (money, relationships, job security, etc.) are not issues he has ever been concerned about. He has a loving family safety net should he ever need help, and a mind that can often sort out any problems before they blow up in his face. He was raised to be steadfast and resilient, and having options and plans and goals tends to not make him worry over the outcome of things. He approaches things with an almost fearless confidence, and isn’t put out by failure or setbacks.
Confident - Ama possesses a certain optimism for and self-reliance on his own abilities. He doesn’t claim to be perfect; there are many things he isn’t talented at. But he believes that with the appropriate amount of effort, even if things don’t work out the first time they will the next time, or the next time. Amadeus doesn’t settle for less than the best, and his enthusiasm for success doesn’t diminish over any number of failed attempts. Didn’t get that promotion? No problem, he will strive for higher. Out-offered on the house he was trying to buy? It wasn’t meant to be. A better one will come. The world is full of so many possibilities and so many paths that it’s statistically impossible that all of them will be negative. So he will find the best one, with the best outcome. If he doesn’t presently have the skills required to reach that ‘best outcome,’ he can obtain them. There’s nothing hard work and dedication can’t accomplish, and he’s willing to supply.
It helps to not be stupid or unreasonable or mentally tied by hesitance and indecision. Amadeus values his intelligence and his ability to work things out. He does his research before making big choices, and even though he does love having all the answers, he’s also not above asking for advice in areas he’s less familiar with. But mostly he just prides himself on not making bad decisions.
Suave - Charming, confident, and elegant, Amadeus is a smooth talking man who knows how to tempt others with his pretty words. And face. And body. He can be very forward without being obtrusive and very flattering without over gratifying his target. He enjoys making casual friends, and most people don’t usually find issue with him on a first meeting, since Ama will go out of his way to be on his best behavior around people he hasn’t yet had an opportunity to win over. He can be a little bit teasing and playful to lighten the mood, a little bit affectionate to promote bonding and inspire comfort. Ama tries to be adaptable to whatever different needs his potential allies might require of him.
Flaws:
- Mischievous - It isn't Amadeus' intention to cause real, genuine, daunting problems for other people, but he can sometimes be inconveniently playful, and when it is what he wants to do, he doesn't really care about the trouble it causes for whoever is the recipient of said playfulness. Sometimes it is only out of desire for a good time and with the expectation that by the end, everyone will have a good time of it. But other times he causes mischief out of curiosity, to goad a reaction from someone just to see what that reaction will be. Sometimes it involves petty thievery and blaming someone else. Sometimes it involves true but private gossip (of which he is a sponge for). Sometimes it is just a rigged game where he is always the winner. He hates being thought of as childish, so he tries to keep it classy. Usually.
Venomous - Though Amadeus is a big supporter of maintaining dignity and expressing humility, he is prone to snark when offended, giving backhanded compliments to people he doesn’t like (but who haven’t actually done anything to him to warrant actual upset, ie: if he is jealous of them for their success), and being openly affronted and angry when someone does do something to warrant it. While he is usually composed and relaxed, when a threat presents itself, he handles it. He doesn’t think he’s cruel, but as previously stated, he does think he is dangerous, and people who pose more issues than rewards to him risk being on the wrong side of a nasty temper that he would rather act on than allow to sit and fester endlessly and without resolution.
Assertive - In being confident and proud and unwavering, Amadeus can somewhat accidentally decide how things progress for not just himself, but others too. And not... distinctly with every party's permission. When he wants something, he sometimes forgets that other people have feelings, and his boldness blinds him both to the needs of people too meek to oppose him, and often to the 'seriousness' of people who actively disagree with him. He is stubborn and persistent in insisting that his ideals and ideas are correct and that people who disagree will ‘come around eventually,’ so he doesn’t need to worry over their current opinions. Ama is bold and takes what he wants regarding work, relationships, and most everything else, anyone else's feelings be damned.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: narrow, almond eyes in a pretty golden color
Hair: a warm, sunset pink. Ama has asymmetric bangs that are longer on one side than the other, and while they are mostly straight, they end in a bit of a wavy curl. He braids a small section with thin gold chains and beads and then loops the braid around to create the base of a bun. The tail of the bun is long and thin, ending at the top of his thighs with the same delicate wavy curl as his bangs.
Face: fine but sculpted, has a relatively small nose and ears, but is overall still shaped in a way that doesn't make him look too young or feminine
Skin Tone: warm brown
