Name: Aritoki "Toki" Kurou Magnolia
Gender: Male
Stage: Child
Race: Nekomata (black cat)
Item: Nine of Diamonds
Height: 4' 11"
Weight: Average; he's scrawny but athletically streamlined
Sexuality/Status: Unknown, Single
Known Self:- Has a habit of addressing people like he knows them, even if he's only familiar with their name.
- A bit of a brat, there's no specific type of attention he seems to prefer over the other.
- Tends to be a little on the smug side.
- His perceptions of reality are a little bit skewed.
- Very good at phasing despite his age -- he gets a lot of practice in.
Hidden Self:- He likes to phase through and sleep in the wall. The cramped space gives him more of a sense of safety.
- He hoards snacks and hides them in various places, just in the event of an emergency.
Virtues:-
Cheerful: He lives to have fun, so it is difficult to find him idle without some sort of grin on. Even when in a more dire situation, or just misbehaving, this outward glow rarely falters. While not necessarily an optimistic individual, he finds bending matters to benefit himself or comrades to be generally fun, so is not really pessimistic either. When he has fun with molding even the most stressful of situations to his advantage, it is more difficult to find a reason to be glum.
-
Persistent: As a firm frame of mind, Toki regards difficulty merely as a challenge, not as a road block. The nekomata lives with a very flexible mindset, and is prone to actively rolling with the punches life gives him. If he doesn't like it, he finds a way around it, or even
through it if he must. Never say never! If you do, he'll probably just try harder.
-
Athletic: Aritoki enjoys climbing on things, and with this frequent activity burning off fat and growing in the strength to hoist himself onto surfaces not necessarily meant for anyone to be, he's quite fit and lean. Nimble, quick, and reflexes at-the-ready, it can be difficult to wear him out. He is built more for speed and balance, however, so this young nekomata is not bound to looking all that muscular.
-
Affectionate: As much of a pest as he tends to act, he'll usually lay off with the quips if he likes you. While his attitude is used on friends as well as acquaintances, perhaps even enemies, he is more prone to listening to the wishes of people he's grown fond of. He's capable of being more gentle with his conversations, it just isn't normally his default. He might also nuzzle you, but hey, he's a cat. That's his excuse and he's sticking to it.
-
Easy-going: As active a kid as he is, he'd be perfectly content with lazing in the sun as much as anything else. There doesn't need to be something going on all the time!
Flaws:-
Wears His Heart On His Sleeve: He's terrible at hiding his feelings, whether he understands them or not. Being quite the vocal child that he is only seems to compact on this problem when he gets flustered or angry, as he has a hard time restraining himself when it goes against his normal behavior.
-
Stubborn: The downside to perseverance, Toki has a hard time letting some things go. He doesn't like to admit when he's failed at something he's set out to do. Challenges aren't supposed to be
impossible, just difficult! It might take him some time to stop trying something that may have been obviously not going to work to others. This may also be applied to people, if he is on a mission for something specific and not easily-obtainable.
-
Intrusive: What is personal space? Aritoki doesn't seem to understand when people want to be left alone. He might get up in another's face and see nothing wrong with the move as well. Despite this, he is not completely dense when it comes to determining the way another person is feeling, he just doesn't see being close to someone as a bad thing.
-
Insecure: He has a hard time feeling completely safe, and is unsure if he's acting the way he wants to. When set on a pattern of behavior and bottled reactions, he just lets autopilot drive his body instead of thinking critically whether it's what he strives for. He is likely to apologize for things much later, once he's thought things over after-the-fact, but feeling safe when around others is something he struggles with.
-
Detached: As a child, he's still not used to life with a bound item. He was given the playing card late, attaching himself to it when he was already a child as opposed to when he was a toddler. Due to this, he knows life as an incomplete being more than he knows it with a bound item, as he had lived with that way for far longer than not. His head won't always be in the right plane of existence as those around him, and he often regards reality as a lucid dream. Feeling more grounded is weird.
Hobbies: -
Finding Hidden & High Places: Aritoki enjoys getting into places that he's not supposed to be, places illogical and forgotten. He's great at squeezing into tight places and climbing as high as he can, unafraid of heights or the thought of a misstep. Truly, the thought of being able to find a place nobody else has stepped foot in or on is compelling. The road less traveled is often the more fun choice!
-
Pranking/Trolling: This nekomata is a trickster, and while he doesn't usually plan things out very far in advance, he still likes to give a little spook here and there. His actions may, at times, seem malicious, but really it's only for a good laugh. Most take little thought and are quick to enact, usually on a whim, but he never sees any danger in any of it.
-
Watching Movies: While just lounging around is nice to do, putting a movie on is even better. He might not like to admit it, but he's fairly fond of most genres, from fantasy-horror to romantic-comedy and everything in between. Even documentaries are good entertainment, even if they may be categorized separately.
History: Aritoki went through life as more or less an empty shell at the Sanctuary until childhood, far longer than the usual for most metas. The item he finally latched onto was a good luck charm Vivienne's brother carried with him until his unfortunate death at the fall of Criel, a memento his sister carried with her. If there is a story more than that behind the simple paper artifact, neither of them know what it is, nor do they understand the importance behind it. In the end, it didn't honestly matter -- as an heirloom of a dearly departed loved one, and all that was left, there really wasn't a means to be picky!
Life together has been a little rocky, but altogether a positive experience thus far. Aritoki is a handful, and isn't the most agreeable sort, but everyone has their differences. For a structured home life, even one in Morrad, it's fairly stable and warm. With Vivienne, it's definitely got a sense of "home," and the safest space the nekomata has for reference. Well... second-safest, after Sanctuary.
Current Location: Snooping around Sanctuary unsupervised; lives in Morrad
Current Status: Curious and adventurous!
