ISAIA Race: Leaf/Lightning Gender: Male Class: Apprentice Blacksmith Future Class: ?? Parents: Uquin and Maritza Siblings: Padma and Ujana (elder half-sisters), Lioe and Zadia (triplets) and Marcella (little sister) Partner: None (planned with Vaani)
personality Sociable, Energetic, Spiteful
Isaia was a trouble child. While a mother's boy to the core, he has a conflicted relationship with his father. As a child, he was a prankster on both his family and others in the village he was raised in, quickly getting a reputation for himself as a troublemaker. Underneath it all, he's a sweet boy, longing for attention from his parents - but with Maritza gone so often, and his father split between grown children, triplets, and his work, Isaia was left with boundless energy and an intelligent brain, almost stifled by the quaint village they lived in.
When he traveled with his father, he enjoyed himself immensely and proved to be helpful, but when left to his own devices his creativity tended to turn destructive. He was the type of child who did something because they could, not always with sympathy about how scared or upset he might make someone. Yet, there isn't inherent nastiness or cruelty to his actions, and he CAN feel guilty, afterwards.
As an adult, Isaia is a bit of a Lothario, enjoying the bachelor days of working as a mechanic on board Belrean airships. Staying in port more often than not means lots of people to meet and have fun with! On board, however, he's a responsible and hard working man, friendly and cheerful. Somehow, he's become the more straight laced of his triplet siblings (compared to being a trickster as a child), and he mourns the distance between them now that he's often flying out of the country.

History
Childhood Isaia is the youngest triplet of Maritza and Uquin; the second to youngest of all six of Uquin's children. Born in Belrea, Isaia's early years were split between the custody of his mother and father. He adored his uncle, Rivyn, and seemed to thrive among the books and culture of Belrea. While not as mechanically inclined as his mother, he has an intelligent mind that made him precocious as a child. However- when he was only a few years old, his family moved with his father back to Tale, to Yera. Almost immediately, the change in culture made a shift in the boy, especially as this came not long after his mother returned to her work on Belrean airships - a job which took her away for months at a time.
He became fiercely competitive for his parents' attention, which in the case of his father led to him becoming a troublemaker.
He gets along well with his brother, Lioe, but with his older sister who is, similarly, precocious and ambitious, he has a fierce rivalry. Underneath it all, though, he does love and respect his sister.
As a hobby, he enjoys making sweets - but it isn't his passion or main drive.
Prentice and Apprentice Blacksmith Over time and practice, Isaia has taken after his mother in working on board the Belrean airships.

Relationships
Family Uquin: Father ===Their relationship is... strained. Uquin is a lot more relaxed as a parent now than he was when he was younger, but Isaia was also a prankster and bit of a troublemaker... which means dad often had to discipline him. They seesaw between being punished and Isaia sucking up to him and helping out with chores to get back in his good graces. Beneath it all though, he does love his dad. Maritza: Mother ===His mama. Isaia is a definite mother's boy. He was an angel whenever she was home, trailing after her and helping her with whatever she wants or needs. He hates sharing her with his siblings, but will do so so he can spend time with her. As an adult, he followed after her as a mechanic.
Ujana and Padma: Oldest Sisters ===His oldest sisters! He respects them both, and thinks Ujana is super cool. He idolizes her, a bit, and wishes he could be big and independent like her! He also enjoys softer things with Padma, like cooking and being creative. He wishes they lived closer and visited more often, but ... he loves them regardless.
Eurig: Nephew ===Eurig feels more like a big brother, weirdly enough. He loves him a lot.
Zadia: Triplet, sister === Definitely a rival! She's smart and sharp. But... he also loves her. He's the sort of brother who would pull her hair but also beat up anyone trying to pick on her.
Lioe: Triplet, brother === Probably his closest friend, as a fellow boy and his only brother. He pranks him a lot, but also is most likely to apologize to him when he crosses the line.
Marcella: Younger sister === Classic big brother trope with his little sister, you'll have to get through him to get anywhere near her!

Class Solo: Blacksmith It was late at night, and Isaia was half sprawled on his family’s kitchen table, peering through a magnifying set of eyewear at the blueprints his mother, Maritza, had passed to him. Ever since he was young, he’d been fascinated with the work she did - with the workings of the airships, the complex parts and diagrams. By the time he was a prentice, he was already used to the smear of oil on his hands, to the danger that the work held - and he loved it.
There had never really been a choice for him. Ever since he was young, even if he and his mom never saw eye to eye, he’d always wanted to do what she did - to fix things that were broken, or improve on shapes to make ships more aerodynamic. To create with his hands. And really, she was a genius. Her designs were intense, and for so long he’d worked so hard to be able to work over a forge, and create the parts that she needed. They had to be fired to the right strength, filed down and cut to the perfect angle and size - and rarely had they been quite up to her rigid expectations.
But that was, partly, why he loved it so much. It was always a challenge, it made him think, made him work so hard he missed out on sleep, and when he got it wrong her scathing denial infuriated him, even as it inspired him, and sent him scurrying back to the drawing board.
But then… he would get everything right. Everything would be pristine, right down to how she’d designed it, and his mother would look over the pieces with a critical eye - and then soften. Those were the moments he loved most, when someone as skilled and sharp as his mother could find nothing wrong with his work.
That was why he wanted to follow in her footsteps, and be a mechanic, an engineer… a blacksmith.

Growth Solo: Prentice to S1 Maybe, if this were any other day, Isaia would have awoken with a start, a burst of energy, or some sort of triumphant feeling. As it was, he’d been so excited that he wasn’t sure he’d even slept; maybe just dozed, hovered a bit in that liminal space between awake and asleep, where dreams hovered at the fringes like specters and the sounds of his mother and uncle in the other room still managed to filter through. He could hear Maritza’s sharp questions, the sleepy intonations of his uncle Rivyn.
Isaia didn’t wake up rested, but that wasn’t to say he woke up exhausted either. Today was a day he’d been looking forward to for… probably the last number of years, and a little bit of tenderness to his eyelids as he rolled out of bed and combed his fingers through his messy hair was nothing. Nothing compared to the years of preparations, the practice, the hard, hard work.
Today was the day that, for the first time, he was going to be boarding an airship not as a passenger, or a tag along to his mother’s work… but as a mechanic in his own right. It was by sheer chance he’d been hired onto the same vessel as his mother, but he wasn’t on the same team as her. Maritza was more skilled, after all, and if they interacted at all it was likely to be her barking out orders as usual, flinging parts for him to repair, or directions for him to scurry to accomplish. But that didn’t matter, not when he was finally not just her scrappy kid, dabbling!
He stuffed the last few items into his bag - goggles, gloves, his apron. Blueprints and grease pencils, charcoal for sketching… the cool, thin clothes his mother had recommended, that were still new but likely would be thin and stained with sweat by the time he got home. But throughout it all, there was one thing he felt like he was forgetting, something important, something he hadn’t felt up to tackling until that day finally arrived--
It was the tickle of a strand of hair over his arm that clued him in. His hair.
In truth, he preferred it long; he could remember his father tying it back for him since he was little, since his hair was shoulder length and he looked more like a little girl than a boy. He liked his hair, silky as it was, often idly played with the ends as if they were a brush, or combed his fingers through it when he was thinking.
But. He was going to be working on an airship, with mechanical bits and bobs, odds and ends that could easily get caught up in - and it would just be TYPICAL, wouldn’t it, for his first assignment to end in tragedy because he’d been vain and kept his hair long?
No, that just wouldn’t do. And after all, that was why his uncle was here so early, despite being so tired. To help him cut it.
When they were done, and Isaia touched his shorn head, he felt… maybe a little bit of loss. But the excitement was more than he could put into words, so in the end it was worth it.
[Until now, Isaia has sort of been just the kid learning from his mom and following his parents around. Now that he's been hired as a mechanic, he can start to step forward and work as an adult in his own right!]
