It was a beautiful, crystal clear night, and Beethoven was practically drinking it in. He'd already taken out a couple of targets, not anything too big, but just enough for him to start feeling that familiar glow of pride welling up inside of him. Yes, there were plenty of stars out there twinkling in the sky tonight, but as far as he knew he was the only one actually getting something done. Now if only someone would show up and give him the praise he most certainly deserved, he might be inclined to take a break to bask in it.
Alas, there was no rest for the weary, and Beethoven continued skulking around the moonlit rooftops for his next victim. He liked to think of himself as a mysterious thief racing through the night, or a hunter carefully stalking for their kill, but all that mattered was that he stayed out of sight until he found a prime enough target. So far there had been plenty of stragglers wandering around, espescially close to places open late into the night, but he knew that wellspring of energy would soon run dry as the hours went on. If he wanted one last steal, he'd have to be quick, keen, and on his toes.
Thankfully, it didn't take him too long to find that person. A lone loiterer, illuminated by the light of their cellphone, standing idly on the sidewalk below. Perfect.
He scuttled along and hopped, carefully, into the next alleyway. He'd stay here a moment and watch from the shadows, just in case any do-gooders decided to show up and mess with his prize. He'd learned well enough from last time that being impulsive didn't earn him any merits and he was absolutely determined not to have this be a third mistake in a row.

Varda had felt the signature. It felt somewhat like her own, but it was different. She wasn't sure how, but she knew it didn't feel like any of the other Dark Mirror Senshi auras that she had felt and nothing like any Order Senshi. Still, she needed to get some draining in! And unless they were here to help her, then they would have to fight for the targets! She quietly sent her shade out to gather energy from Mr. too-into-his-phone while she made sure to look for whoever else was out here. She felt bad for her wraith, it was a target, but there wasn't too much she could do to protect it. One hit was pretty much an instant kill for any wraith she summoned, which made draining energy a bit annoying. It was when she turned the corner that she saw another and felt the aura at what she considered "full blast". And well... the Senshi certainly looked different! The first thing that she noticed was the large amount of hair! And she had to admit... she wasn't jealous of it at all. She only wondered how he kept his head on his shoulders with that much weight coming off of it. And she thought dealing with her hair was hard! Still, she didn't know who or what they were, and she hoped to distract them from her wraith. "Who are you?" Guess it was as good to start with as anything. Perhaps they would respond and she would learn something? She could tell that they were looking at "her" target but she hoped to get at least a little energy this time!

It was safe to say Beethoven hadn't expected another voice to come up from behind him, but he managed to contain himself enough not to jump out of his skin. Instead, he forced himself to stiffen and slowly turned his gaze upon the person behind him. He saw the tiara, then her uniform, and immediately grimaced. Something was clearly off about this one. No fancy attack, no telling him to stop whatever he was planning, just a casual approach while his guard was down. Plus, a black uniform? Either this was another corrupt trying to take his target or a very creative goody-goody trying to fake him out.
Neither option would be forgiven, though. He wasn't in the mood for mercy.
He swiveled on his heel, taking his eye off the target, and aimed to shove Varda backward with as much force as he could. There would be no introductions this time. He'd had enough of being interrupted. Nuisances would be neutralized, then assessed.

At least he's not attacking my wraith. Or he didn't see it. She thought to herself as she saw the Senshi turn around, however, she was so distracted in her own thoughts that she didn't see the shove coming, and unfortunately had no way of stopping it. She managed to stay on her feet though. This Senshi was definitely hostile, whoever they were and they did not appear to be a part of her group. Well, if they were going to fight her, then so be it! She wouldn't run away from a little fighting! She would have to get used to it anyway in this crazy magical war stuff! "Right then." She muttered to herself as she bent down in a position to launch herself towards the Senshi. It only took a moment and then she was running full speed at him, hoping that he wouldn't see the wraith and destroy it, and make her lose yet more energy that she had gathered.

Beethoven knew that when Varda remained standing that he'd have mere seconds to either brace for an attack, avoid her attack, or prepare one of his own. While trying to stop her with his hands like some kind of fictional hero grabbing the horns of a charging bull at the last moment before impact sounded badass and worthy of praise, he was pretty sure he'd just get launched straight out of the alley and lose his target. Instead, as Varda launched herself forward, Beethoven hopped out of the way and snapped his fingers.
"Nettle Vine!" He commanded, waiting until he saw the familiar green glow appear before moving to the side and checking the target. They were still tapping away on their phone... But wait. What was that shiny thing near the target? His eyes widened sharply. This fight was nothing but a distraction, but if he stepped out of this alleyway now, he'd surely scare the target away! He sneered.
"What," He snarled, glaring daggers toward Varda. "Is that thing?"SSBrosB Nettle VineBeethoven faces an opponent and calls out his attack. A beam of green light coils up from the ground near the opponent, takes the form of a nettle vine, and strikes out, grabbing them in some way. (By the limbs, around the waist, etc) The light disappears a second or two after contact, but any exposed skin it touched may start to itch or sting. Uses: 3 Range: The coils can strike within 5 feet of a foe. Duration: 30 seconds

Well, that idea hadn't worked as Varda watched the other Senshi jump out of the way. Suddenly she felt a sting around one of her feet, and she hissed in pain as she stumbled and felt her ankle catching. She was used to some pain, but this was unexpected but she managed to not fall flat on her face, instead kneeling a bit to check to make sure that her ankle was okay. And another setback, the Senshi had discovered her wraith, which meant that it was now a target. Though she couldn't help but grin when he asked what it was. "You don't know? Why should I tell you?" She replied, but knew that she didn't have much time to keep him from attacking it. Instead she took out her comp and commanded it to go and hide for now, out of the line of sight so that he couldn't attack it right away. Hopefully. She wasn't sure if the ability to see through walls was a thing yet.

Beethoven's attention snapped back to Varda as she spoke, and it was very clear that he wasn't about to tolerate any kind of obstinate behavior sent his direction. His expression grew far more serious, as though he were a villain straight out of a child's darkest nightmare, and he turned to approach Varda again very slowly.
"I've had it to here with the lips on you intolerable, goody-goody, orde-"
He paused, his teeth snapping together in a sneer. No. That aura. Now that he'd taken a moment, he could easily tell that she wasn't like any order senshi he'd ever encountered before. Still, she'd taken it upon herself to meddle with his last target of the night. She'd suffer the consequences regardless of her affiliation.
"No. Now that I've studied you from this distance," He continued, narrowing his gaze. "I can clearly feel that you aren't from the order, but that doesn't mean I can forgive you for interrupting me. I've worked too hard to have a target stolen from me tonight. I wouldn't even tolerate the interference of one of my own."
He stepped closer, aiming to close the gap between them, and reached a hand out to try and grab her.
"Now, tell me, before I make a mess of your pretty little face," He growled. "What. Is. That. Thing?"SSBrosB Remy: Gee I love being a nice guy that volunteers and does good things and has a ton of money. cool /Sabotages other people by giving them the wrong advice but is still a pleasant person Beethoven: I WILL BEAT YOU SENSELESS IF YOU AS SO MUCH AS LOOK AT MY TARGETS. IF I LOOK AT THEM FOR MORE THAN A SECOND, THEY'RE MINE. /Would kick a general in the face if they tried to harvest a target he wanted

The other Senshi was trying to intimidate her. Honestly, she found it quite hard to be intimidated when another Senshi had their hair done up like that. She opted for rolling her eyes instead. Her ankle still wasn't quite healed, and the Senshi was getting closer to her and looked as though he was going to grab her... she wondered why he didn't just use his spell again, but whatever. She opted to user her own magic instead. She hoped that it would be enough to ignore the pain for right now, and perhaps any more pain that he had decided to inflict for the moment. At least enough to make it tolerable. She grinned and pumped one of her fists into the air and said, a bit loudly, "Victory Ahead Varda!" And suddenly she was filled with energy! Not enough to say, go and lift a dump truck or something, but that pain in her ankle? Totally gone. She took a fraction of a second to grin at the other Senshi, before jumping up moving backwards using her hands and throwing up her feet towards the Senshi, hoping that she would be able to hit him. The fact that he might be able to see up her... dress was something she would have to be embarrassed about later! Bouquet of Diamonds sorry for taking so long to reply!

Unfortunately for the both of them, the battle had managed to end up in a tie, though Varda was sure she would be feeling the effects from the Corrupts attacks for at least the next day if not two. His attacks hurt!
However, the battle didn't make her hate Corrupt Senshi or anything. It was clearly a battle over territory and prey, nothing that was significant. She supposed that struggles like that happened quite often.
Still, she would have to make sure that she didn't underestimate her opponent the next time like she did this time.
