KoruKinshi posted this in The Black Lotus Society union on GameSpot earlier today.

"Apparently, she's been charged with allegedly plagarizing some of her old FAQ work. Looking at her KOF XI FAQ, I wasn't too surprised. It was very incomplete, and looked like it was slapped together, with a lot of old moves from old games that don't work anymore."

Anyone else hear about this?

I personally never heard of this, but I wouldn't be surprised. I have seen a lot of work from people whom I know have copied from other guides based on the info that gets put together.

I know this all to well because I am the only one who has made a COMPLETE working guide for an old DOS game called "DARKSUN Shattered Lands". I am also the only one who made the COMPLETE guide to CARDINAL SYN for PSX. In the process of making these guides, I have seen a lot of my work copied from my guide because some of the moves and info can only done ONLY if you have done the techniques yourself.

So in a lot of ways, I am not very surprised anyone is doing any kind of plagurism. It happens and it's gonna keep happening, and when push comes to shove, they will get caught and it's not gonna be pretty when they do get caught. All we can do is deal with it and punish those that get caught.

A little history that I read on a FAQ:

Once upon a time someone (1) asked for the author (2) of the FAQ about another FAQ that really looks like. Then the guy (2) said that sometime he let another author (3) take information on his FAQ to use at your own. Then he (2) saw his work just pasted and asked him (3) to just put in his own words (that is what everyone normaly do)... the guy (3) answered with insult and change just some words here and there... The author (2) asked him (3) to change not the words but to write his own. And what the guy did? He (3) insulted the author (2) again and ignored his e-mails. Finally the author (2) asked if he (1) knows who wrote the other FAQ and asked for the asking guy (1) to please e-mail the plagurism guy (3) and say to him that he not appreciated his work and ask him to change what he (3) have done, because he (2) couldn't talk to him anymore.

Boring, isn't it? Have your work pasted and the guy don't have the minimum gratitude to do the correct thing that the author is asking him...

(1) - asking guy
(2) - original author
(3) - plagurism author
