Mid-Season Harvest Festivals
Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7
Prompt With so many inhabitants of Tendaji still working the lands, it's common that a festival or party is held to celebrate the transition to a new season. With summer in swing, it's about time to celebrate again. This transition goes from cultivating the land to full-harvest, so many hold celebrations to thank the gods for rain, earth, and successful growth of their plants.
Be it on Tendaji where the Earthlings celebrate thanks for their crops and land, or the Aishans thank their great mothers for prosperous hunts, or even Kahikinan where they celebrate a transition from the heavy rain season, all of Tendaji has reason to gather during the summer months.
[For this prompt, find someone to celebrate a the change of a season wherever your character is. If your character is alone, now is a great time to consider the transition of the season versus the transition of your life.]

[Onora]
There were many crowds gathered near the marketplace, where the stands were decorated in different paper designs for the midsummer festival. Onora heard younglings screaming and watched them chase one another, some with markings drawn on their faces.
She was ready to enjoy the festivities and walked up to a stand selling jeweled hairpieces. After placing it in her hair she made her way through the crowds, a wide smile on her face.

Amoe wasn't doing well hiding her grin as she walked her way through the crowds. Being so large, it was easy enough to cut a path wherever she was going, and this festival was no different. She was a silver head floating above a sea of blues and greens.
There was something about seeing how other people celebrated that Amoe just couldn't help but look like a fool. She stopped at a cart that sold jewelry and peered over the shoulder of a very familiar looking water girl. "Hey yo! Long time no see. Whatcha got there?"

[Onora]
Onora was still occupied with the new piece in her hair when she heard Amoe call out to her. "Oh hey! It's been a bit hasn't it?" When Amoe brought up the new item she purchased, she gave a wide smile. "I found this and I couldn't help but love the teals and greens." She turned to provide a better look. When she turned back she asked, "Decided to come back for the parties?" She said with a laugh over the music and chatter around them.

Amoe looked at the trinket the girl had in her hair and nodded as Onora explained. It wasn't her style, but to each their own she guessed. "Yeah, I'm in Matori for a few more weeks and who doesn't love a good party?" She added. There was already music in the air and it was a catchy beat that was unlike anything she would have heard in Pale'iko. "So what do you normally do at these things?" She knew what festivals were like in Kahikina, but who knew what differences there might be in Tendaji.

[Onora]
Onora nodded to Amoe. "Oh yeah it's always fun to get together." She said as she looked around to the groups of people gathered. Some waved to her from afar and she gave a quick wave back.
When she looked back at Amoe, she gave a shrug when asked what happened at the festival here. "I usually stay by the stands and make food, but most people dance - and the elders try to give everyone blessings for the next season throughout the night." She said with a grim expression. "They can go on all night if they could." She remembered last years festival, where one of the women stayed with her until she was packing up her things.

Blessings? It was definitely different than what she had thought about with festivals back in Pale'iko, but eh, whatever right?"Well I don't se you manning a stall, so should we dance then?" Amoe turned her head looking around to see if there was some sort of dancing section nearby.
It would have been the kind of thing that would be easy to spot for her since there was literally nothing tall enough to block her way, but she didn't actually see any congregation of people that looked like they were boogying.

[Onora]
Onora laughed and nodded, grabbing Amoe's hand and taking her a bit farther down the road where the drums sounded louder. "It's this way." She said as they made it to a small gathering of people, laughing and moving throughout the area.
She led them into the group and Onora began swaying her arms above her head, laughing as she relaxed further into the music.

Amoe followed Onora through the crowd, being pulled by her hand. It wasn't something she was used to, usually she was the one shoving through people, but the drums had her bobbing her head as she went and let it just go with the flow.
They wiggled theirselves onto the dance floor and Amoe followed Onora's lead. Their dancing was much different than the dancing they did in Kahikina, and she felt her long limbs getting in the way and being awkward. It didn't matter though, before she could care that she was making a fool of herself her attention was already being pulled away from the song. "Hey! Let's do that." She pointed over the heads of the earthlings toward what looked like games to her.

[Onora]
Onora could tell that dancing wasn't really in the mood at the moment so when Amoe brought up the games, she nodded before they moved their way over.
There was a couple of friends hitting small balls to one another with their legs, and some older folk looking into a game of stones quite intently. "Any game looks similar to one from home?" She asked looking further down and seeing more games and more people.

Amoe looked to where Onora was pointing and while kicking a ball around didn't look too bad, she was much more drawn to the other things further down the way. "That one with the stones looks too complicated. Let's head that way." She gestured to where there were stalls and more games. It looked like prizes. She was determined to rock them.
She stopped at a little clearing that seemed to have a weight, a hammer, and a bell at the top of the tower. Yeah, this was more like it. "You got any strength in those arms? Because I'm definitely taking a swing at this."

[Onora]
Onora looked to the games father down and it made sense to play the games to win some prizes, especially since Amoe might not know the others like she does. They got to the bell and Onora laughed. "I mean I like to think so at least."
She grabbed the hammer which felt a bit heavy and wrapped her hands around it. She lowered it slowly on the marker before lifting it one more, making sure she landed on the right spot. Putting her force in it, she slammed the mallet down and she looked up to see the bell was just missed. A puff escaped her lips before she laughed once more. "Oh man thats actually harder than it seems." She said as she handed her friend the hammer. "You want the next shot?"

Amoe watched Onora's attempt to win the game, whatever this game might be called, but she didn't quite make it. She had to admit though, Amoe's size alone might make this game a little unfair. She was imagining the length her arms had on normal earthlings and the kind of swing that could whip up. "Yeah I'll give it a go."
She rubbed her hands together and wiped them on her pants. She didn't want slippery fingers to get in her way. With one hard swing the hammer was over her head and onto the pad, and the bell soared up the ramp, ringing the bell with a force. She grinned wide as the earthling vendor seemed to purse his lips and narrow his eyes at Amoe, like he was choosing whether or not he should say something about her winning. 'Winna!' He called out finally, spreading his arms and putting on a show for the others around them watching. 'Go ahead... little miss... pick yer prize!' he called out, pointing to a row of stuffed animals and other useless trinkets. "Which one do you want?" Amoe offered to Onora. She had no use for any of these prizes, but showing off felt good.

[Onora]
Onora watched Amoe who seemed a little intimidated at first but when the bell rung her eyes went a bit wide. She gave a huge smile when the man finally claimed Amoe as a winner but was shocked when she gave her the opportunity to pick the prize. Her eyes searched around the stand until she found a stuffed animal in the shape of a fish. "I-Ill snag this one." She said before pointing it out to the man.
He handed it over and she began walking away with Amoe. "I can't believe you hit that. I really did try." She said with a chuckle. She probably could have hit it but didn't want to win if Amoe couldn't have done it. The festival was slowly being more empty and Onora smiled. "Thanks for tonight. It sure beat staying at the stalls."

Amoe put her hands behind her head as they walked back through the crowd to where she had first found Onora. "Yeah, it was fun." She was still grinning from the feeling of the hammer in her hands. It was a good time for sure. "We should definitely do it again next festival. If we're both still in town." She added. Who knew what the future held for either of them, but Amoe had a feeling they would both be traveling in separate directions soon enough.
