Mid-Season Harvest Festivals
Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7
Prompt With so many inhabitants of Tendaji still working the lands, it's common that a festival or party is held to celebrate the transition to a new season. With summer in swing, it's about time to celebrate again. This transition goes from cultivating the land to full-harvest, so many hold celebrations to thank the gods for rain, earth, and successful growth of their plants.
Be it on Tendaji where the Earthlings celebrate thanks for their crops and land, or the Aishans thank their great mothers for prosperous hunts, or even Kahikinan where they celebrate a transition from the heavy rain season, all of Tendaji has reason to gather during the summer months.
[For this prompt, find someone to celebrate a the change of a season wherever your character is. If your character is alone, now is a great time to consider the transition of the season versus the transition of your life.]

[Betoto]
Betoto ran out of her home, following the lights of the festival. There were dancers in bright patterns and many people around watching the performance, some bouncing to the music as well. She absolutely loved the midseason festival and knew it was going to be filled with great memories and blessings for the upcoming season. She made her way to the main stall where multiple meals were placed to be taken, and took a small skewer of meat, excited for the time she would have

The sun had just set over the horizon, that last of its light still hanging in the air when the drums had started up. Orin raised an eyebrow in surprise and looked out of the window of his inn room. It looked like there were plenty of people crowding the roads now and fires were starting to be lit up.
A festival? He picked up his bag and bounced casually down the stairs of the inn. If he was going to be listening to it all night long he might as well stay up and enjoy it.
He left the front of the inn and entered the crowd of people, his blond hair contrasting with all of the browns of the leaf earthlings.

[Betoto]
Betoto cleaned the last bit of meat on her skewer and as she tossed the stick in the trash, she noticed bright blonde hair bobbing through the crowd. She could tell it was Orin and quickly weaved through the people, constantly apologizing for interrupting their evening.
"Orin! Hey!" She said as she was catching up. "Are you enjoying the festival?" She said, her breath slightly heavy from the meat she just consumed.

He had barely made his way into the crowd when someone was calling to him from behind. He turned to see the leaf girl he had met earlier that week. Betoto, he thought to himself slowly, trying to remember what she had said her name was. "Oh hey. Betoto" He tried the name out on his lips, still a little hesitant that he might not have gotten it completely right.
"Yeah, I mean I can't complain. I just got here, but it looks like this is going to be a while, so I wasn't going to stay in my room." He shrugged. "You live nearby?" He asked her, wondering how she had gotten here so quickly. Unless she just knew this was going to happen tonight anyways since she was actually from here.

[Betoto]
Betoto gave a grin when Orin remembered her name. It was about a week or so since they had last met, and she hadn't seen him since. "Yup! I live over there." She said pointing to the small home in the distance.
She nodded her head and looked around the area where more and more people were gathering. "I can understand that. Every year they try to outdo the last, so I'm sure it will go until morning." She said with a laugh. When she was younger they even had the children play a story in full costume.

[Orin 3]
Orin nodded, it made sense. "Yeah, we have the same idea in Oba. Lots of lights, food, blah blah." He waved his hand in the air in an on-and-on gesture. "Have you ever been to Oba?" He asked her, already directing her through the crowd and over to get food. "I'm starving." He called out over to her over the sound of the music.

Betoto shook her head with a small frown on her face. "No... I've never been outside of Tale." She shrugged her shoulders. "I just ate... but I can go with you?" She offered to him. Not that he had given her much of a choice, but she didn't mind just tagging along.
"I can tell you what's tasty at least." She offered to Orin.

[Orin 4]
Orin blinked at the girl for more than one reason. He should have realized that she would know what would be the best food, since she was from here. And now from the sound of it, probably born and raised here too. "You've... never left?" He sounded incredulous, but really, he had never left Oba... until he did. He was almost an adult by the time they started traveling.
He let her start leading the way over to whatever good food there was here, gesturing for her to take charge.

"Well, no." She shrugged her shoulders, trying to not seem so lame. "It's not that strange. And it's not like I can't get by in the world." She tried to push off whatever preconceptions Orin might have about traveling with her. They were supposed to leave the next day, she wasn't about to have him think she was useless or couldn't pull her weight.
"I can handle my own." As she was saying it she tripped on someone else's foot and stumbled back to her own balance. A blush crossed her face but she tried to still put on a confident look on her face. "I can." She repeated.

He laughed out as she tripped. "Yeah, I can tell. Really." He held up his hands and grinned to her. If nothing else, she would make the trip interesting.
"So what do you think? These?" He pointed out the meat skewers, they looked kind of like meatballs, but they were covered in some dry herb seasoning of some sort. "Are they spicy?" he asked her. He liked spicy, but not so spicy that it was just for the pain. Those people were out of their mind.

Betoto inspected what it was that Orin had pointed out. "Those... well... I mean, they're sweet. But I kind of think they're gross." She admitted. They were a pretty common dish in Tale, but she really just did not enjoy menabe balls. "Do you like sweet meats?" She asked Orin.

Orin looked pensive at the description that Betoto gave him. "Worth trying at least once, right?" He offered the vendor the money for the stick and shrugged his shoulders. "I would buy you some but you - one, said you don't like them, and two, said you already ate."
He bit into one of the balls and almost immediately spit it out. "Ok, so... not what I was expecting. Who even likes these?" He added. The girl might not be too bright looking, but she at least knew food better than her own feet.
"How about we find some dessert instead? Something that was meant to be sweet." He put an arm out for her to loop through. If they were going to be traveling together he could manage to be a little more chummy.

She was very surprised by the offered arm but after a second's hesitation looped her arm through as well. "If we're getting dessert, I'm picking the food this time. You obviously make poor choices." She joked with Orin.

He nodded his head sagely. "I may argue a lot, but I won't argue with that." He let the girl lead him off into the crowd, trying to show him where some suitable food was. Maybe their tastes would be more similar than he would have thought for someone who had never left home before.
