PromptTendaji is filled with a wide array of wildlife, some friendly and some a bit dangerous. It's rare that an inhabitant of the world will spend a day without encountering a wild creature in passing, be it from hunting, traveling, or even taking care of a pet. The creatures of this world only seem to add to the colorful experiences that Earthlings, Aishans, and Kahikinans have each and every day. [ For this prompt, we want you to pick one (or more) fauna in Tendaji and have your character encounter them in some way. Maybe it's catching a new pet, or animal watching, or maybe it's a hunting trip. Take some time to explore the flora and fauna thread and create a story around your character's experience with the creature(s). ]

Sriina had been given the option of joining Kaimana on their trip to Kahikina and she couldn’t help but say yes, given the feelings she had developed over their past weeks together. She felt flutters in her stomach when she was around him, and she had only ever felt this way with Ashta before.
She didn’t want to think about her ex-lover, but it was the only comparison she could make, and she knew what that meant. For her things were getting serious. She would need to say something soon, clear the air and own up to her feelings. It would do her no good to dwell on a secret crush if it wasn’t reciprocated.
The group had set out for the port that would take them by boat to Kahikina, but it was going to be a few days trip before they reached their destination and then even longer by ship. The weather had not been in their favor though, the rain had been on and off since the end of the festival and it cast a permanent gray sky over their heads.

Clear, sunny skies they said. Kaimana quipped silently as he shot a glare up towards the gray skies. They hadn't even hit the ocean yet but already the whole crew was soaking wet because of the rain that never seemed to end. The guide of the group had already informed them that it would take a few days to reach the docks where their boat to Kahikina waited for them and that it could potentially take longer depending on the condition of the mountain trails. Despite the warnings the group had decided to continue as to avoid too much delay and so Kaimana was trudging alongside of the others while wearing his own oiled wool cloak, the dark gray hood deflecting as much rain as possible. Thankfully the rain had seemingly started to let up by mid afternoon and the caravan ha decided to set up camp for the night. It was best to try and set up some tents before the sun began to set and even better to do so now while the rain was only a light drizzle.
However, while the rest set up Kaimana was determined to go scout along the path for any potential delays. A few others had gone out in different directions to check the condition of the mountains and he had offered to take the center route that the group was hoping would be clear for them to take the next morning. At the moment the Matori was checking to make certain his satchel bag had everything including a flask and some food before venturing out. It also gave time for whoever volunteered to go with him to prepare their own belongings as he waited at the edge of camp ready to depart. Honestly he was hoping that it would be Sriina but at the same time Kaimana didn't want her to feel forced to tag along with him. Still, his amber gaze darted around almost hopefully as he looked for her. He had been enjoying spending time together and he trusted her to watch his back should anything go awry.

Sriina had just finished organizing her own pack and wrapped it over her shoulders. She adjusted the hood over her head and trekked her way over to Kaimana’s side. ”Well, it looks like it’s just us then.” She commented.
They had asked if anyone wanted to go along the central path to clear the way and Kaimana had volunteered. The others had already branched off into their own groups and that left Sriina. She didn’t mind, though. The Gods had set her up with the opportunity to come clean and talk to Kaimana in private and though she felt the lump in her throat, she knew she shouldn’t waste the opportunity.
”Should we get going then?”

Kaimana would be lying if he said his heart didn't skip a beat whenever he spotted Sriina approaching him. "It seems so." He agreed with a grin as Sriina joined him. "All the less people to worry about slowing us down while we scout out the area." He found himself teasing as he glanced about just to confirm that no one else was joining them before gesturing for them to get going. Despite his happiness at being able to spend more time with Sriina, Kaimana felt a twist of nervousness in his stomach. Surely it was from the darkening skies that suddenly felt more intimidating now that they were already walking into the mountains, the rest of the group out of sight as they climbed.
"So...how does this path seem to you?" He found himself asking Sriina, the silence almost more intimidating to him than not making any type of small talk. The Matori glanced towards his companion with a small smile as he gestured around them. "It's definitely a bit different here from home, that's for certain. Even these mountains seem more Belrean than anything I've seen before." At least so far it seemed like the rains were staying away. Kaimana was thankful for that and pulled out some of his mapping tools so that he could sketch the path as they walked.

Sriina found herself watching her feet more often than she thought was her usual. She felt nervous around Kaimana. He seemed oblivious to most things, even though Sriina couldn't get... particular things... out of her mind. He was a wonder to her, she couldn't tell if he was ignoring her feelings and avoiding her, or if he was truly oblivious to the whole ordeal.
"The path seems... fine. It is very different than anything in Matori or Oba." She agreed. The trail they were on was rocky and uneven at best, and she could see the trail leading upward toward the mountain rings of Belrea. "It does look like the weather is turning though." She commented at the darkening skies. The rain hadn't come yet, but the sun had all but disappeared behind the gray clouds overhead and the scent of rain lingered in the air.

"Mmm." Kaimana nodded his agreement as his fingers tightened around a piece of charcoal so that he could quickly outline the path they were walking. It seemed like a viable option for the group so far...At least as long as the weather holds. He mused with a slight frown. What did they do if there was actually a big storm? His golden gaze studied the surrounding area warily. He would just have to hope that they were lucky enough for now, especially since the pair of them had already walked quite a distance from the camp. It wasn't as if they could simply turn back and outwalk any storm once it hit now. On his own the Matori would feel more daring but with Sriina he felt cautious, concern for his companion taming some of his more wild habits of boldly darting into the unknown.
"Oh, wow." Kaimana paused and gestured for Sriina to join him as he walked towards an overlook, the mountain path curving upwards and revealing a slight valley on the other side. It was still a bit of a walk away from their current path but along the base of the mountains was a herd of lyari. "They're pretty small from this distance, but still cute." He grinned towards Sriina. "I wonder if we could ever take some of those back home one day. I'd love to have a small herd of them if I ever settled down somewhere." The innocent meaning of his words went over his head at first but then a slight flush decorated his cheeks. They were out adventuring together so why would he even mention settling down? Kaimana shook his head before glancing back towards the path. "As it is how are you holding up? Should we take a moment?" Though the dark clouds above them were suddenly seeming more menacing now...Kaimana chewed the inside of his cheek as he studied the changing skies. Maybe they really should consider the possibility of the storm hitting today. It wouldn't surprise him if fat raindrops started pelting them soon.

Sriina hurried to close the gap between herself and Kaimana to see what it was he wanted to show her. ”Oh wow.” She echoed Kaimana’s words. There were so many of them. Sriina hadn’t seen anything like it so far in her travels. ”They’re amazing.” She trailed off, her voice soft. Clearing her throat, she spoke in a more normal tone. ”I would think it would be a nice life, to settle down and have some of these to look out at every day.” It sounded strange to be thinking about settling down, but eventually she supposed it was something she should think about. And with that came the idea that she should start thinking about ‘who’. Would her life be settled down with someone as a partner? She glanced over at Kaimana’s face. She knew how she felt, but she wasn’t so sure she could invest her thoughts like that, not knowing if Kaimana felt the same.
Sriina looked up at the sky at Kaimana’s questions and back to her travel companion. ”I think we should push on. I don’t think the rain is going to wait for us to take a break here.” There was no coverage where they were, they were going to have to be closer to a more convenient spot if they were going to beat the rain in any capacity.

“It would be given you shared that life with the right person. I think I would be fine getting a little herd together.” Replied Kaimana without thinking, his flush darkening even more as he realized what he had said while staring directly at Sriina. It would be nice maybe to have a home after traveling for so long…even if he had to still leave on occasion for work like this. The little place he shared with his twin was nice, but Kaimana never truly had a place that was actually his own. His family had always been the ones to pull together everything while he did his best to support them and so before traveling like this Kaimana had never placed himself first. So much had changed ever since he had taken up art and this wandering job, mapping the world with the others and making so many new and interesting connections, but Kaimana did not regret leaving Matori for this. He missed Matori and knew that he would always love that country, but seeing the world had been life changing. Meeting Sriina definitely had been more than a bonus, considering how his heart skipped a beat whenever she looked towards him…the very thought making him open his mouth to say something else before a fat raindrop smacked him in the face and stopped him from whatever words had nearly gushed from his lips. “Ooof, yeah.” Kaimana shook his head and offered a sheepish smile towards Sriina. “Let’s go before we get washed away.” More raindrops were starting to fall now and Kaimana reached out for Sriina’s hand, his fingers tightening comfortingly as he started to navigate them around the path.
“Maybe we can find some shelter.” Kaimana raised his voice as thunder echoed above them, the rain picking up even more and forcing him to tug them towards what looked like a cave entrance tucked away in the mountains. Surely that could work for now, right?

Kaimana mentioned 'the right person' and Sriina felt her heart thump in her chest. She had come to realize over the course of their journey that she hoped Kaimana was referring to her, but it was so hard to get a read on him. They had shared a kiss but beyond that she didn't know whether to make heads or tails of his feelings.
Fat raindrops began to beat on them from above and Kaimana laced a hand through hers, pulling her quickly toward what looked like a cave. She grabbed on tight and ran for it with him. holding her other hand over her head trying to fight back some of the water torrenting down on them.
They made it to the cave entrance just as a thundering crack of lightning flashed overhead a little too close for Sriina's comfort. "I think this was probably the best idea for now." She joked with Kaimana, realizing her hand was still laced in his but waiting to see if he would be the one to break their touch first. "At least we can dry off a bit while we wait this out."

' "Glad you agree. Next time I'll try to find a better inn, this one seems a bit outdated." Teased Kaimana as the flash of lightning brightened the area more and revealed the pair in the growing darkness, his gaze gleaming with happiness despite their surroundings and current situation since he was with Sriina. However, that happiness quickly faded as Kaimana quickly tightened his grip on Sriina's hand without warning. The flash of lightning had not only revealed Sriina and Kiamana more, but also revealed the large bulking figure of something coming towards the cave after them. "Don't panic, but I think we should get further into this cave as quickly as possible. " It was raining too hard for them to safely make it away down the mountain and the loud thunder crashing around them hinted that the storm was no where near over and was actually directly above them now. The previously cloudy sky was pitch black and it was only by the flash of lightning that the dage could be seen.
The rumbling of the cliffs around them also made Kaimana worried and he was only frozen for a moment before the growling of the dage erupted into a roar and Kaimana quickly tugged Sriina backwards, the pair tumbling into the darkness of the cave where another shift in the earth happened as the water flooded the area around them and something within the cave shifted with a large cracking noise that made the Matori's ears ring. Not a good time for this! Kaimana wrapped his arms around Sriina protectively as he rolled them both back further into the cave, the dage's rush forward suddenly blocked by a wall of mud and rocks as the ceiling collapsed and blocked the front room and the dage from view.
Kaimana held tightly onto Sriina, his arms still tightened into a protective embrace even as the storm outside grew quieter the cave absorbing much of the noise now that the entrance was sealed off. Pure darkness, only the faint dripping of condensation from the scattered stalagmites in the cavern could be heard for a moment until Kaimana picked up on their breathing and the muffled scratching of an enraged dage on the other side of the new wall. "Let's lay here for a moment." He whispered quietly, hoping the dage wouldn't hear them and eventually would settle or leave the cavern before disturbing the debris more. "Are you alright?" He asked after another moment, the scratching noises finally gone from the other side of the wall. Kaimana waited on Sriina's answer, his breathing calming down now that things seemed quiet, and once he received a response he would relax his his hold more even though it was hard to let go of Sriina. The sheer panic of the last few minutes had driven him and his own cheeks flushed at the realization of how close he was to her in the darkness. Even if they couldn't see anything the feeling of her body pressed up against his own, the warmth of his own skin as he held onto her made it very obvious that Sriina was in the room with him. Eventually he would move to his pack to try to fumble in the darkness for a torch to light the way, but for now he simply sat still while his heart and mind raced with so many thoughts and emotions.

Sriina felt her heart pound in her chest as Kaimana spoke, she felt like her body had turned up the electricity and she was buzzing with anxiety.
Whatever it was that Kaimana had seen was not good. Before she knew it, Kaimana had thrown her to the floor, the pair of them tumbling and rolling further backward into the cave mouth and the rocks were falling from the ceiling blocking them in.
Kaimana's whispering felt like it was so far away after the ringing of the rocks erupting in the space but she couldn't argue. She laid her head back down on the hard floor and let him wait it out, holding her still. Her mind was on the dangers around them now, but she felt the gratitude of Kaimana, for lack of better words, saving her. "I'm... alright. I think a little banged up but... fine." Sriina answered, trying to assess herself.
She could feel his breathing on her and she felt like she couldn't get her skin to stop prickling, though now it wasn't with anxiety as much as it was the intimacy of space. "... Thank you." Sriina offered. They were so incredibly close. "Kaimana... I..." She wanted to say it. Wanted to offer her feelings for him and speak it into existence, but the words were trapped in her throat. Still pinned under him she leaned her head forward and gently touched his lips in the dark, hoping he felt the same way for her.

A sigh of relief left Kaimana’s lips as Sriina answered him. “Good to hear. We can do some first aid once we figure our way out of here.” Even though the cave was pitch dark, the feeling of the other Matori beneath him made Kaimana’s heart race in his chest. It was honestly difficult for him to answer calmly since he was so hyper aware of Sriina even in the darkness. Now that the adrenaline was wearing down there was no other reason for him to feel so warm save for the fact that Sriina was pressed against him. At this point it was hard for Kaimana to come up with any excuse for why he suddenly felt nervous among other things. Traveling together for so many weeks had only pushed him closer to the realization that there was something building around them and when Sriina’s lips touched his own the Matori couldn’t help but to return the gesture. In that moment the torch was forgotten, the bag slipping out of Kaimana’s hands as he instead held onto Sriina.
“We….can figure out a way out later. I felt a breeze so there’s an exit somewhere.” Kaimana whispered eventually, his breath tickling against Sriina’s neck in the darkness as he took a moment between kisses. “If you’re alright with this?” He couldn’t see her expression but he could feel his own heart bursting within his chest as the pent up emotions finally released. If he received permission then he was more than willing to explore everything while they were in this situation together. It was funny how he thought it would be more terrifying to be trapped in a cave together, but now the Matori didn’t want to be anywhere else since it allowed them both a chance to express themselves away from the eyes of others.

Sriina felt a hum escape her throat when he whispered his question to her. ”I’m more than alright with this.” She offered back, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him in closer for another kiss, this one less gentle and unsure and more filled with passion. She had been reminded of what his lips had felt like after their first encounter together randomly throughout their travels and was able to finally feel the satisfaction of being able to touch them once more in reality. And she wanted more.
She brought her hands down in the darkness of the cave and felt along his chest, discovering and feeling what she hadn’t been able to touch previously and felt the blush rising on her face. It was a good thing Kaimana couldn’t see her, or else she might not have had the courage to continue exploring.

Sriina's reaction nearly took Kaimana's breath away. So they truly were doing this then. A small smile crossed his lips as he returned the kisses with more before finding himself exploring in the darkness, the shadows hiding the flush that completely covered his own face at how bold he was feeling in the moment after being encouraged by Sriina. The exit could most definitely wait to find a way out until the next morning. For now they could just take their time to relax and catch up on so many things until the storm broke and the sun started to rise for a new day. After that? Well then they would figure things out while continuing their adventures together through these new countries, exploring new lands while also exploring wherever these feelings would take them.
