They had been in Jahaur for weeks now.

Tyiva sighed as she sat along the shoreline by the waters that separated Jahaur from Chibale. At least it was a beautiful memory. Karo and Tyiva had both been so excited to see Aisha. Their joined hands as they walked across the shore led by a Sister to Aisha was an image she would never forget. Nor would she forget the emotion that shined on their faces as they reached out to the great tree and requested her blessing. Tyiva had been so full of hope that their dreams of children could truly be realized in that moment. Now that time had passed she found that doubts were crossing her mind once more. She had been born petite, a strange lotus that had bloomed as a surprise alongside her stronger and bigger sisters. When they were younglings they always teased her for being so petite almost like she was the runt of a radaku litter. Maybe Aisha truly did not think she was strong enough to receive children? Was she a mistake whose bloodline was not allowed to grow further?

The Alkidike’s gaze drifted towards the sand at her bare feet. Perhaps today she would suggest to Karo that they should return to Oba. Her heart was heavy in her chest at the thought. The last thing she ever wanted to do was disappoint Karo. If Tyiva’s own heart was breaking at the lack of blooms from the tree then she could only imagine how Karo must feel. She had been so excited. Another heavy sigh left her lips as she wrapped her arms around her knees and pulled them up to her chest. It was already afternoon and still no sign of a Sister with news. Tyiva had been venturing over herself for the first couple of weeks but now she was too full of dread to consider the journey for herself. It was better to just stay in Jahaur and wait.

It had been a wild ride. Quite literally. They packed and planned and put together the nursery in such a short amount of time before leaving it all behind to head to Chibale. She didn’t even know what her family thought of it all, she’d left a vague message and then was off. She wanted to enjoy the moment with Tyiva, enjoy the travels as they used to, enjoy being in the present moment. She was already way too excited for what was to come, so it was harder for her. Tyiva had to calm her down, she’d wanted to get there asap.

And then they’d arrived, and it felt real. Like real real. They were about to ask Aisha for a child. It had sobered her up a bit, she wanted to prove that she was worthy and so was Tyiva. When they’d been given the opportunity, Karothdra poured her heart out. At first it felt silly to do such a thing in silence, would Aisha truly listen to her? But the spoke to her, the more the words were spilling out from her mind. She told her everything, all of her trials, everything about Tyiva and why she loved her so much, their relationship, and then why they should be granted children. There had not been anything kept from the tree and Karo hoped that would be enough.

They were met with what Karo could only describe as a deafening silence. She’d expected something? Anything to happen, but they were led away and were now awaiting news. It felt like an eternity like some vast void Karo held within her. Karo went and sat next to Tyiva before leaning back onto the sand to stare up at the sky.

“Seems like yesterday we’d just gotten here.” She said softly, a hand reaching out to gently touch Tyiva’s lower back.

Tyiva forced her lips to curl into a smile, "It does?" She asked quietly, her expression slightly sad despite the attempt at fake happiness. It was harder and harder by the day to hide the worry that gnawed at her spirit. She wasn't one to know much about the blooms from the tree and even the mystic was not fully aware of Aisha's ways. They had poured out their souls to Aisha and Tyiva still remembered Karo's retelling of their relationship with great fondness. If anything at least she felt so secure in their love from this journey. The thought did bring a little hint of a true smile as she leaned into Karo's touch, "I just pray we hear something soon. I worry that we can't be away from Oba for much longer." She found herself confessing as she relaxed on the shore next to her lover.

“Ah so that’s why you seem upset.” Karo pulled herself up again, this time she wrapped her arms around Tyiva and kissed her shoulder before putting her chin there.

“How long does it usually take?” She hadn’t asked before, but if Tyiva was worried, maybe she should be worried too? Perhaps they should have gotten word by now, but Karo didn’t share her worries with her partner. She didn’t want her worrying more.

“Don’t worry about that,” She waved a hand in the air. “I will deal with it and they can all wait. Oba will not stop working if I am away longer.” If anyone dared utter anything about her prolonged absence, she was going to gut them. “Anyway, it’s a bit like our old vacationing days, don’t you think?” They were spending quality time together and a children or two would just be an added bonus to it.

A warmth spread through Tyiva's chest at Karo's tenderness, "I honestly do not know for certain. It varies for each Sister." She confessed lightly. Admittedly the process was probably a lot less straining on those who still lived in Jahaur but with Oba as their home it was somewhat stressful to continue waiting. Her antenna flickered downwards thoughtfully before she glanced over at Karo. If only she could have such confidence about things. A small smile tugged at her lips, "I suppose you're right. Though we did roam about a bit more instead of waiting on one space for so long." At first they had enjoyed Jahaur since Karo had not been there often and now they just simply spent most of their time waiting.

"In all honesty...." Tyiva began slowly, her confession nearly stuck in her throat before leaving her lips. "I was a small bloom myself and a surprise to the Sisters who took me in with their own." Her cheeks flushed as she leaned her head lightly against Karo's own and studied the waters. "I worry that maybe Aisha does not think I should continue my bloodline because I was such a smaller bloom. Surely you've noticed that I'm smaller than most of my Sisters, Karo." What if she was the issue? Surely not Karo. Karo was too loving and kind with a warrior's spirit. Tyiva knew that Aisha would see no harm in the earthling's blood mingling with their own. If any earthling deserved children from Aisha it was definitely Karo. Tyiva could not help but to blame herself for any rejection. Was it simply just not meant to be?
PostPosted: Thu Jul 09, 2020 2:55 pm

“Okay that sounds like any other Earthling pregnancy.” Doctors could give a couple an estimate but really, a baby could arrive at any time. So nothing to worry about really. “That we did, but now that space can wait for us a little longer.” And all the people too, nothing mattered more than this moment right here. Karo would spend a whole month away from their home if she had to, children were worth the wait that was for sure. And in any case, Karo couldn’t deny the tiny feeling of satisfaction se felt from being away from all the work and politics.

“Smaller but just as good as any other warrior I’ve ever met,” Karo said proudly, giving Tyiva a squeeze. Earthling children also sometimes came too early and were too small and fragile, but that did not mean that they grew to be weak. “If anything,” Karo began with a smile in her voice. “They or she or he, will be taking us for a ride because they’ll be little warriors.” Speaking of which, Karo tried to distract Tyiva. “Can… Can we actually be blessed with a boy?” She wouldn’t mind either way, she’d be happy with whatever.

"Is that so?" Tyiva did not even try to hide her surprise. Honestly there was still a lot about the earthlings that she did not know and everyday it seemed that Karo was surprising her with more information. So even earthlings did not know the exact time that their child would arrive. The thought brought her some comfort a small laugh escaping her lips in amazement about the way of nature. It seemed only the fates would ever know when an exact moment would happen, "I suppose then that even earthlings find themselves having similar worries when it comes to wanting a child." She mused as she shifted closer to Karo and wrapped an arm around the earthilng for comfort.

Her flush deepened at Karo's praises. Somehow Karo always knew the words to comfort her. The Alkidike nodded at the idea of warrior children, a small bloom of hope still residing within her spirit, but she paused at Karo's next question. A boy? She had never thought about it before. The Alkidike frowned before recalling the few Alkidike hybrids who had been built more like the earthling men, "I believe so. Perhaps it is rare but it is possible for blessings between earthlings and Alkidikes to result in a male baby."

What if they did receive a boy? The thought made Tyiva nearly gasp, "Oh Karo. How much different would it be to raise a son instead of a daughter? I've never interacted with men much save for....mostly fighting." She confessed quietly. There were men in her life like Gerim whom she interacted with on occasion but in general she had never really been raised by anyone male nor had she truly gotten close to a man before. What would it be like then to have a son whom she would surely be close with?
PostPosted: Thu Jul 09, 2020 3:27 pm

“Yes, so no need to worry.” Karo said and gave Tyiva another kiss for reassurance. Perhaps, there wasn’t such a big difference between the Alkidikes and the Earthlings after all. Instead of the mother carrying a child, it was instead the bloom.

“Oh it would be very different, let me tell you.” Though her father had raised her to be just as capable as his sons, Karo hated to admit she’d been raised a bit too much like a boy. She lacked a more feminine touch, perhaps this was where Tyiva’s upbringing would come in handy. However, they were both warriors, so the chance of them raising a girly girl were perhaps a bit slimmer.

“I think it’ll work itself out. We’re both learning after all.” Karothdra gave a small shrug, she would love the child either way. And then she noticed a figure walking towards them and the Oban gently nudged Tyiva. “Someone’s coming.” She whispered quietly.

"Oh my." Tyiva swallowed against the rising worry. Already she was stressed that they would not be receiving a blessing after all but now she was struggling with the concept that they could indeed have a son potentially, "I really hope so." She whispered back softly. Surely a son would be an interesting child to raise. She definitely would have a lot of learning to do. Earthling men definitely were not built the same way that a Sister was but even then she expected her children to be unique as hybrids. It would be a learning experience for sure.

"Oh?" Tyiva quickly stood as she recognized one of the Sisters who had escorted them previously to Aisha. "Chenoa." She bowed respectfully towards her Sister. Did that mean there was news for them? Tyiva's antenna flicked inquisitively as she grasped at her Sister's arm in greeting. "Any news?" She asked, her gaze searching the other Alkidike's face.

"Yes." Chenoa offered a small smile, "Though it may not be what anyone was expecting...."

"Did Aisha not..." Tyiva's voice caught in her throat as her worries escaped once more, "Surely at least we received one bloom?"

Chenoa squeezed Tyiva's hand comfortingly, "No Sister not that."

"Then what is it?" Tyiva's heart clenched in her chest as she held out a hand for Karo. Did they really get rejected by Aisha? Am I really not worthy to have a child? It was a depressing thought and Tyiva was impatient to receive an answer from the other Alkidike. If they had received no blooms then why not tell them immediately? Don't drag this out. She pleaded silently while still offering a prayer to Aisha for a chance. She had been so hopeful for children that she could not imagine a future without them now. They were so close.

"It's more than one." Chenoa finally replied her expression brightening as a playful grin spread across her lips, "I believe Aisha truly adores you, Sister." She glanced towards Karo and nodded, "You both have been blessed indeed for your efforts. It's not simply two blooms that are for you. You will be the mothers of three."

Tyiva did not have words. Three blooms? She had mentioned the possibility to Karo before but she had not believed it would be for them! "Three..." She repeated in awe as she spun around to face Karo, "I think we need a bigger nursery...."

Karo rose too, not as fast as Tyiva but she joined her side and bowed to Chenoa as well. She listened to the words, but it did not sound like good news. Karo sought out Tyiva’s hand and gave it a squeeze. That was okay too, there were other options. They weren’t as good as this one, but they wouldn’t be childless forever. It felt like an eternity before the words were uttered, It’s more than one. So two! Karothdra released the breath she had been holding but almost fainted at the next words.

“Three?” Karo exclaimed in a high pitched voice, she was excited, scared, and thought she might faint.
“Three.” She repeated, eyes wide in surprise. As Tyiva turned to her to tell her about the cursory, Karo was still incredulous. “We’re definitely going to need a bigger space for them.” The office wouldn’t do if they were about to have three!

Tyiva chuckled. "Definitely." She couldn't help but to grab Karo and swing her around in a tight hug, "Three!" She repeated once more with a laugh. "Oh I wonder if we will get a boy." Tyiva couldn't help musing as she settled down and simply kept to Karo's side. What would they look like when the bloomed? They surely would be the most adorable babies that she had ever seen. Most definitely.

"Thank you Chenoa." She smiled at the other Alkidike, "You have brightened our days with the news. Do you know when they'll be safe for travel?"

"In a couple of days?" Chenoa nodded, "I'm sure they'll bloom soon. Aisha must have taken her time since she knew that she would bless you both with three little ones."

Karothdra laughed with Tyiva, she still could not believe it. She was happy that she had proved herself to Aisha, now she knew she was truly blessed. She couldn’t believe in a couple of days she was about to meet her perfect little children.

“I wonder what they will look like,” She was so excited to have children that would be half of Tyiva and half her. She could not have asked for anything better. “I will send a letter ahead of time so that we are a bit more prepared at least.” How would the journey back home be? She was hoping it would be sooner rather than later.

Tyiva nodded, "A letter is good." She was glad that Karo could think about what they needed to do now. Tyiva was still abuzz with excitement and disbelief. They were really going to be mothers! Not only that but they would have three babies to bring back with them to Oba. "I hope one at least has you skin or crystals." She confessed lightly, "Maybe with Alk markings to show a true mix of our heritage. I'm certain that they will all be lovely children no matter what."

Karo nodded. "I'll be happy with whatever, truely." The Oban gave Tyiva a quick kiss. "They'll be half of you and me and that's all that matters." She still couldn't believe that in a few days they'd be taking home their children. "Should we perhaps get a carriage?" They needed some changes in their plans if they were going to take three home. "And most definitely more supplies." They'd have to stop more often too while on the road to make sure they didn't run out of anything for the children. "I can't wait to tell my family." Too bad her mother was in jail, she would have been thrilled that Karo was having children and she'd be a grandmother once again.

"Agreed." Tyiva smiled, "There will be three of them so I'm certain that we'll have variety." She joked playfully while her excitement was still thrumming through her body. It was hard to stay still and the Alkidike was walking slightly as she spoke, her fingers lightly tapping against her thighs and then trailing to touch Karo even at times as she expressed her joy at the news. "I think a carriage and supplies are good. We could gather those in the next couple of days before our babies bloom. I hope your family is as excited as we are. They will certainly be surprised." The words crossed her lips but still left her in awe. This was truly happening!

"I suppose I'll have more than a hobby to take up my time in Oba now." Teased Tyiva quietly as she paced along the shore, "I wonder if any will decide to take Aisha's path in the future." The Alkidike shook her head, her short dreads bouncing with the movement, "Regardless I would like to bring them back to Jahaur when they are older on a few occasions so that they can experience my homeland as well." She smiled towards Karo, "Hopefully that will be alright with you." A family vacation of sorts in Jahaur. It would be nice to be able to visit in a few years once the babies were old enough to enjoy the forests.
