- Woodworking - Elias is good with his hands, which is probably the only reason his ex liked him so much, and he likes to use them. He's a handy guy who likes to build and fix things, and frankly it makes decent side money. He can craft a nice table, a good desk, a solid cabinet, a cute jewelry box, and wouldn't you know it, people buy that s**t. He's got a little hand in calligraphy and painting for designs, but he tends to keep that part simple. He's not as talented with that as he is with the intricate details of of woodcraft. Elias doesn't mind attempting other forms of craft (sculpture or metalworking), but he always gravitates back to what he knows best.
Geology - Particularly while he was studying but still to some extent, Eli's job often involved literally rummaging around in the dirt. For the most part, dirt is dirt is dirt. But every now and then his knuckles would smack into some kind of rock he'd never seen before, and he couldn't help but pick it up and stick it in his pocket for further research. A young curiosity budded into an actual hobby, and he is now a full-blown collector of stones. He displays some of his most interesting finds on a shelf he himself built, and if you've got a birthday coming up, you best expect you're getting a rock and a pamphlet's worth of information about it. One of his favorite past times is swimming out into the reservoir and digging beneath the water. Who knows what's down there, ya know?
Airsoft - GET GOOD SCRUB. Eli is actually nine at heart, but since most adults don't play with Nerf guns, anymore (though of course Eli will shoot his beloved child in the face with a Nerf dart any day), he has instead joined a squad of airsoft experts who play regularly. It's hardly regulation, and is mostly just boys hooping and hollering and flinging themselves into bushes to keep from being pelleted in the face, but he fights the good fight and has a good time doing it. It is a boisterous activity that lets him be very loud and run around for an hour or two. His aim is pretty good, and he always secretly shoots for his comrades' 'nads...
Virtues:
- Creative - It kinda comes with the territory of being any type of architect and any kind of man of craft. Sometimes making something unique and interesting and befitting of any individual place involves going beyond what is considered 'normal,' and Eli isn't afraid to go the distance. He likes things different: different to him, different from surroundings areas. And he needs to be able to come up with those ideas while still being in the realm of something people like and something that looks good. Thinking outside the box kind of gives him a bit of an ability to roll with the punches. Liking and expecting 'different' means there's not much able to surprise him...
Expressive - Elias is a man of the people. He likes to play games and peddle his wares and build nice things for people. Despite his impressive stature, most find it difficult to be too unnerved by him because he expresses himself openly and convincingly. When he is pleased, he grins. When he is offended, he scowls. Knowing where you stand with someone goes a huge way to earning their trust, and Eli wants that. He doesn't want anyone to question his motives or intentions, and he does want people to trust and like and respect him, but he'll settle for the first two.
Cautious - Elias is innately a bit of a rowdy boy. He likes to play and roughhouse, but... A good lot of his disposition changed after having a kid. Small children like to do roughhousing more than they like to be roughhoused, and Elias is not a small man, so he needs to show a little care and restraint when playing with his still-young kiddo. He is watchful and attentive to his surroundings, and he is actually actively looking for things that could do some damage to him or his kid. He doesn’t want to lose his only spawn! And it would sure suck to be struck down and be unable to do anything with his family, anymore...
Flaws:
- Haughty - He's pretty proud of himself. Not 'top-of-the-world,' 'best of the best,' but how hard does he really have to work to achieve his goals and get everything he wants? If it's not one hundred percent, then he's already performing better than most people, and he deserves some recognition for that. Some people things are beneath Eli, and he won't want to work for them at all. He only wants to have to try when something is 'at' his skill level, and it is a huge point of contention when someone wants him to do something that he doesn't think is worth his time and energy, or has no purpose.
Deceitful - 'Openly and convincingly,' right? But not always accurately. Elias’ want for people to ‘like’ and ‘trust’ him means that he’s prepared to show people what they want to see, and let them hear what they want to hear, even if it isn’t exactly the truth. Sometimes it is just to help him get the answer he wants in response. Sometimes it is just for convenience. Sometimes for outright personal gain. His intention is rarely to cause strife or harm to someone else, and he will feel bad about it if he does, but at the same time, he is not really sorry for trying to get what he wants out of a situation.
Antagonistic - There's something about people asking him for things, or people sounding a little too smart when relaying information to him that makes Elias the tiniest bit... of a huge a**. He's pretty polite. He likes to be a nice guy. But god forbid anyone expect something from him or make a passive aggressive remark, because he snaps to sarcasm or sass on a dime. Will absolutely get into huge loud whiny b***h fits about who can be the most stubborn with his kid. In public. And win. Bet. He's not even ashamed. And if he'll do it with his precious child, you better believe he'll do it with friends or strangers.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: a pretty, pastel-y blue-green. Narrowed and slightly angular with heavy lashes
Hair: in the same aqua sort of color family as his eyes, but darker. He's got a mess of cute curls framing his face and down to the nape of his neck.
Face: a bit of a diamond face, with prominent chin and jaw lines, thick brows, straight nose, full lips
Skin Tone: somewhere between tan and dark, just a really solid mocha kinda brown
Body Type: Elias is a tall 6'6" with broad shoulders and an otherwise pretty average frame. He's not built with a bunch of muscle from working out or doing hardcore activity, but he's definitely showing enough to tell that he doesn't sit at home doing nothing all day.
Clothes: Dresses smartly only when he has to do office work or is meeting face-to-face with clients. Otherwise, Elias dresses casually and simply. Jeans and a dark button up shirt.
