It had seemed that her wish for things to not be too 'interesting' had been in vain and whilst Ashley still wasn't too clear on what had happened or why she and Harriet had found themselves dumped in a series of places and being chased by (amongst other things) white static, she did know that it hadn't been the way that she'd wanted to introduce her younger sister to the city.
Not that she'd been (or still was) particularly enthused by Harriet's visit or the way that she had sprung said visit on her - but it would have been nice if the general weirdness that seemed to spring up around holidays and events could have held off for once.
Neither Harriet or herself had wanted to stay at the Charity benefit after all of the weirdness and it had been by mutual consent that the two of them had left early after Harriet had paid for and collected the trio of paintings that had turned out to be the item that she had placed the bid on, with Ashley taking the opportunity to take the time to send Alexandre a quick text message.
She made a mental note to make sure to arrange shipping to the UK for them at some point, as she knew that Harriet had probably not thought about the practicalities of that part.
For now though, however she sipped at the tea that she'd picked up earlier as she waited for Alexandre.Sleet Tempest Snape Hope this works as a start Sleet, but let me know if not and I'll tweak it

He still wasn't sure which was worse to be chased by...static that destroyed things, laser shooting aliens or a large dinosaur that was hungry. None of them really appealed to the ashen blond but he'd managed to survive along with his elder cousin. The city was never one to let it's citizens down when it came to the tradition of insanity around holidays and events, it always delivered. Even when no one wanted the cities brand of adventure.
The trip home with his cousin had been amusing to say the least, given what they'd survived, the conversation had been fun and filled with various comments from them both. Neither one of them happy with what had happened. It was during the trip that he told his cousin about the text from Ashley, a fellow officer, and informed his cousin that he'd be meeting with her the following day in order to catch up.
That was where he was currently headed - for tea. While he didn't drink tea, he'd never had a taste for it, he knew Ashley did and it was why he also carried a small tin of dried tea leaves along with other flavorings. It wasn't just tea but a floral one of sorts. He liked to gift them to people when he could, when he had enough tea leaves to. He didn't have enough space to grow a lot of tea plants so he was rather limited. But he did have enough for a small tin for Ashley as a gift.
Approaching her location he called out, one hand raising in order to wave towards her. "Afternoon." (I hope this works. I'm assuming they are meeting a day after. Since I assume that night was late and a lot of emotions and all going on after the huge thing. Also...figure rose tea.. Nothing beats the beauty of rose buds or rose petals tea. It’s available in many colors and intensities, and it’s often blended with real teas to create a delicious scented tea. Flavor is very similar to the scent, so a teaspoon of petals will be enough for making a quite intense cup of tea. Be careful not to over-brew it, because it may have a bit of bitterness too.)

Ashley's lips curved up in a small but genuine smile as she caught sight of the approaching blond and carefully set down the (mostly) full tea cup, waiting until the other was closer before calling back a greeting of her own.
"Afternoon Alexandre."
A part of her wondered if the other had been caught up in the same weirdness that both Harriet and herself had found themselves pulled into - such as the 'devour all the things' static and whatever the thing that had been chasing them in the forest had been as Harriet's and her mutual decision to leave after Harriet had paid for her auction win had meant that she hadn't had a chance to catch up with Alexandre again outside of the quick text that she had sent through.
"Harriet decided that she wanted to do some exploring on her own for a bit."
Her sister had mentioned wanting to visit a couple of exhibitions at the art gallery that had piqued her interest and then maybe stop by some gift stores. Neither was too far from her apartment and Ashley had agreed to catch up with her sister later in the day.
Being (at least currently) nosy younger sister free also had the added benefit that Ashley would be able to be freer in her words with Alexandre than she'd been able to be at the benefit.Sleet Tempest Snape It's perfect. Apologies that this tag back too me so long

"Afternoon." Raising a hand just before he reached a chair and pulled it out for himself. Settling into it with a casual grace that seemed to come easily to him, and it likely did, he was just one of those who made everything seem easy and graceful...effortless.
"That's good, though the city does seem to be insistent upon acting up again." Something which neither faction seemed to be the cause off. Rather he figured it was something else, although what else he didn't know, he did know that whatever it was it was good that he was unaware of it. If he ever found out what was causing this chaos in the city he might have to find it - and kill it. "How is she managing in the city?" He questioned, whilst wondering if she and Ashley had been involved in the tv madness.
"Were you two also victims of the cities magic the other evening?" Deciding to word himself a bit carefully while still going for the directness he tended to have. He didn't much care for beating around the bush, even if his words might seem to do so at times.

"Unfortunately" Ashley agreed drily, because she'd lived in Destiny City for long enough to know how weird the city could be - especially around the holidays and city-wide events.
Particularly around the holidays and city-wide events.
"These things seem to happen almost like clockwork," Ashley sighed slightly for a moment before reaching out to gently pick up the tea cup and drink some of her tea.
She carefully set the cup back down "Although it would have been nice if the acting up could have held off for once," a wry note crept into her voice momentarily as she admitted "As I could have done without Harriet getting the firsthand introduction that she ended up getting last night,"
It was an answer in a way to Alexandre's second question, one that hopefully the blond would decipher, even if Ashley hadn't come out and outright said that Harriet and herself had been caught up in the previous night's weirdness.

"For whatever reason magic, or whatever controls these problems, isn't about to give us a break." How he wished it would, it might have allowed him to properly enjoy a holiday for once. It had been years since he'd had a normal holiday. It was one of those questions he didn't feel they'd ever get an answer to, even if they tried to find an answer.
"It is like clockwork - it's scary." It was really accurate and the problems always seemed to fit the holidays...like they were tailor made by someone or something. Talk about feeling like it was all plotted out and there was something in charge of this all.
"Yes well, I admit I wasn't fond of it either. Though I'm used to it. I'm sure explaining last night wasn't easy. I'm lucky my cousin is...while not used to it...he will be." And his cousin had him around to help, and he had his cousin to help him as well. He just needed to help his cousin become a General so he'd be just as strong...if not stronger due to his cousins larger size.
Finding someone who worked here, they all wore the same boring uniform, he motioned them over so he could order his own drink - espresso with pomegranate syrup and whip cream. A bit odd to most, he was sure, but it was his thing. "I brought you something." A small tin of tea...fresh picked and dried by himself. But it wasn't a lot...he hadn't had a lot he could pick and dry.

Ashley was tempted to sigh again, because the weirdness that tended to happen around holidays could get downright annoying–
But it wasn't as if it would change anything and the magic (or whatever was behind the strangeness) would continue to do as it will anyway.
She drank some more of her tea "Although perhaps last night's strangeness might encourage my sister to cut short her trip" she admitted, because whilst Ashley loved her younger sister, she was fully aware of the fact that Harriet had a nosy streak "She can be overly curious at times."
Aka nosy.
Her grey eyes looked curious as Alexandre offered over the small tin, Ashley carefully setting her cup down on its saucer as she opened it up–
And then her lips quirked up in a small but genuine smile as she took in the scent of roses. The scent took her back for a moment, making her think of one of her mother's garden parties...
"Thank you" and the small smile was still on her lips as Ashley carefully slipped the lid back on the tin.

"The only safe way to go about the holidays in this city is, I hope anyway, to remain home and not go out...also don't answer or take in any mail where you don't know the sender." He'd heard stories on the news, either last year or the year before, pertaining to mysterious packages turning up. He didn't remember all the details, he wasn't that good, but he did remember enough to know it had been magical in some nature.
"Which means that it's doubtful she'll keep her nose out of things. It'll likely be something she'll try to look further into. Keep her safe, no one knows the cause of this all and it might not like being figured out and investigated." Because as far as he knew no one had investigated the possible origins of the cities odd holiday mishaps. With magic involved, in some manner, there might be something sentient behind it that didn't want to be discovered, or even remotely looked in to.
"I didn't have enough tea leaves to gather or I'd have given more. But my plants weren't at their best and I can't fit enough in my greenhouse. It's a hobby - plant growing. I grow a few tea plants as I've a friend who enjoys tea a lot. I thought something other than just tea leaves would be nice." Hence they were mixed with something else. "The ivy on my uniform you'll find is well suited to me." Not just because of his interest, and knowledge, of plants but he was a rather loyal person...and ivy stood for fidelity among other things...and he was a loyal person.
"I'll keep an eye on her if I should find your sister out and about. I can't have her fall victim to the season." As so many others had...as he had on numerous occasions. "Hopefully this is the worst of it for her." And she gets home safe....though he didn't say that part, it was rather left unsaid but still hanging in the air.
