The Charity Benefit (3) - Now is as good of a time as any to examine one of the many tables displaying items for the auction. The table is full of donations, both new and old, and something catches your eye. It’s only when you get closer to the item that you have some sort of fierce, emotional response. It might be nostalgia or happiness, or sadness, or fear, or anger--any emotion is possible. There doesn’t seem to be any reason to feel this way; the item can be any that you choose. Though the emotion doesn’t linger for long, there’s no clear reason as to why it inspired such feelings. Is the item worth bidding on? Or running away from?
The urge to hide out, power up, and sent out a mirror wraith to collect energy was very tempting to follow through at the moment for Joanna. There was just so many people here ripe for the picking but she ruthlessly squashed that urge seeing how the event itself was meant for charity and ruining it would just feel wrong. Of course at the moment she fully planned on powering up to do just that after the event was over so the money will have been exchanged but still leave the energy getting collected which in her mind would mean two good causes would have resources going towards them.
But there was still hours before that could happen so for now Joanna was wandering between tables looking at all of the items that will be up for auction soon. Some of them were pretty, some were interesting, some she wondered why anyone would want to put them in an auction they were so ugly and or useless. She did keep her opinions to herself to not ruin anyone's mood, who knew if any of the donators were in the crowd right now and within earshot if she despaired on something.
As she flitted around like a little humming bird from table to table she came across one that had some interesting paintings on it, making her pause to study them. One in particular of a nebula galaxy was breath taking and something she was very tempted to bid on once it was up on the auction block but doubted she would be the only one and likely not the most wealthy that liked it. She pulled herself away from the painting and moved farther down the table only to freeze when her eyes landed on an ornate looking hair pin.
When her eyes had landed on it a surge of fear had shot up her spine to curl around her throat and squeeze the breath out of her. Guess you could say this was the true breath taking item. While intense enough to leave her very shaken, the fear didn't last very long thankfully and Joanna was able to breath normally again. As she was catching her breath her eyes darted around but it didn't seem like anyone had seen her reaction, nor had one of their own. Looking back at the hair pin she frowned and studied it for any answer as to why it had caused the emotion.
No matter how she looked at it though the hair pin just seemed to be normal, nothing seemingly magical about it, just a pretty hair ornament that would look lovely in the right hair colors. But not her's. Absolutely no way would she try to bid on something that had made her more afraid then she ever had been before. With one last glare at the hair pin, Joanna turned away and continued on to look at the rest of the items up for auction. Now she had at least one item she wanted and one she would avoid at all cost.
