Strange things appear in Destiny City all the time, so nothing seems out of the ordinary about what might look like discarded trash, broken glass, or pieces of broken jewelry. If anyone were to lean in for a closer inspection, they might find a beautiful, gemstone like object that is shaped a bit like a star. They come in an array of colors and almost seem to have some sort of light sparkling in them.
Morie sighed as she stepped outside of her house, getting ready to head out to her university’s library to do some studying. Most nights she could do her studying at home, but tonight was another of her sister’s ‘vtuber’ recording nights, and thus, Morie had decided it was in her best interest to head to somewhere more… quieter. Truth be told, she still didn’t approve of her younger sister’s hobbies, wishing she’d take school more seriously, especially in her last year, but Tochi was a tough nut to crack, and the more Morie tried to insist she focus on her studies, the more Tochi dug her heels in and did the opposite. Between her and Mariel, it was like dealing with two small children, which made it worse when Mariel’s age was taken into account, being a few years older than Morie herself.
Sometimes, Morie wondered if Tochi was influenced in some way by Mariel, especially when it came to slacking off with school to focus on personal interests instead. She’d already scolded Mariel before about watching what she said and did around her little sister, pointing out that she did the same around Mariel’s younger siblings (despite being younger than them), but Mariel had laughed it off, saying that they could do whatever they wanted to do- who was she to be so ‘bossy’ and ‘controlling’, like Morie was?
In short, it was a giant headache, dealing with both her best friend and her little sister, and Morie often felt more like a third parent rather than the middle child of her family. Shaking her head, she decided it was best not to think about it for now. The whole purpose of getting out of the house was to go somewhere for some peace and quiet where she didn’t have to deal with those things for a few hours, and that was what she was going to do.
As Morie was proceeding to get her bike out of the garage, though, she found herself nearly stepping on a hard object that she was fairly certain hadn’t been there before. A star-shaped stone, colored a deep blue color, lay on the ground, presumably one of Tochi’s things, no doubt. Honestly, Morie couldn’t quite understand why Tochi didn’t take better care of her things, not to say that she never did, but every now and then, Rie would find little things here and there that her sister casually misplaced. She’d have to remind her later, lecture her a little, about the importance of being organized, but for now, holding onto the gem would have to do. It would serve as a reminder to Tochi that she needed to keep better track of her things, if she didn’t just go right back inside to give it back to her sister, and besides, Morie really needed to get going, before the library closed.
Sometimes, being the organized sibling was a pain, and Morie didn’t know how Kiro could go on with his day without noticing any of this.
