Quote:
It was already late in the evening but the merchant seemed unfazed by the passing of time. He sat, poised and elegant, watching the world around him. He didn’t seem bored but he sat, fingers laced atop the table; below it, he kept his toe tapping to some silent tune in his head. He was tall, by human standards, though while sitting down he didn’t seem particularly threatening. If you didn’t look at his face.

He had graceful features--sharp and refined. His chin and nose tapered to a point, giving him an air of sophistication, but that, combined with his slitted eyes and pointed teeth, there was something undeniably predatory about him. He watched with a hungry gaze and a mischievous, nearly sinister smile. His ears were pointed and were prominent despite being tucked behind his vibrant, multi-colored hair. The most intrusive feature that indicated there was something not human about him were the curling horns protruding from his temples and the oil-slick black scales that brushed his cheeks and forehead. He was well dressed, in a fashion obviously otherworldly, and seemed to enjoy dressing himself up in glistening gemstones.

His stall was somehow both simple and overwhelming; it was only a table with a deep purple cloth over it, but scattered neatly atop it were an array of items that seemed to carry some magical weight to them.

He did not seem intimidated in the slightest and, upon noticing a customer approaching, he smiled.

He did not rise to meet them nor adjust his position in the slightest. He followed them with his fierce eyes.

In a silky voice, he greeted, “Welcome.”

Welp, she'd missed the bus.

Not the bus going from the post office, mind you, but the one after that, the one that would take her home. Keeping up with the bus schedules was always an arduous task, especially for one as disorganized as Anming could be; it didn't help that sometimes the buses ran early or late, either. As if to complicate matters, she had nearly run into an agent draining civilians, and thus, Anming had had to power up to do her best to stop them. Anming hated powering up, of course, but when you were the only one around, what could you do?

As Minkowski, the petite senshi was using the increased speed her powered form allowed her to try to get home as fast as she could, before it got too dark outside. She disliked taking advantage of her powered form for trivial reasons such as this, but at the same time, hated to make her family worry if she didn't come home on time. Of course, something caught her attention, and it seemed that she would be a little late, after all...

Minkowski hadn't really been partaking in the festivities as of late, and the merchant caught her offguard. His appearance was somewhat unsettling, and Minkowski tried her best not to stare at him too hard, instead focusing on the table in front of her instead. "H, hello...?" she finally responded, unsure of herself.

The man at the booth smiled at the Senshi. "You don't have to sound so afraid. You're a Senshi, after all, right? And a strong one. I won't bite."

He smiled, and though there was something friendly enough about him it wasn't enough to overshadow the the predatory smile he wore. His sharp fangs might have had something to do with it, or the way the smile reached his slitted eyes.

He had the appearance of something monstrous and ready to pounce, but the demeanor of a professional.

"Why don't you you come closer, you can take a look at my wares. I'm looking to trade, you see. One of my treasures for one of yours. I have quite the selection. Tell me if something catches your eye."

His table was covered with beautiful treasures, but he seemed to guide her eyes to one. His hand moved to rest atop the table and he tapped atop it, just in front of an ornate little butterfly cage. While it appeared delicate, it was in design only; it was intricately crafted and was obviously a piece of art. While its original purpose might have been to house real butterflies, instead it seemed to have become an art piece: five handcrafted glass butterflies, each fitted with a stunning blue gem, were posed within the silver cage.

"I'm not that strong, to be honest..." Minkowski answered in protest, not sure where the merchant had gotten the idea that she was a strong senshi from. It was quite the opposite, really- she was rather weak, and only served to get in the way.

The merchant beckoned her closer, and while she felt hesitant to do so, he did seem to carry himself in a professional manner, so his words seemed genuine enough, about wanting to do a trade. At least, she hoped so, because she wasn't exactly skilled enough in defending herself, if it came down to it. After a moment of weighing her options, Minkowski finally took a few steps closer to the table, to get a better look at what he had to offer.

One of her treasures, for one of his... what did she have that she could offer? The butterfly cage caught her eye, as he seemed to draw her gaze to it, whether by accident or not. Minkowski didn't know why, but she felt... like she had seen it before, once upon a time, even though she was certain this was the first time she had laid eyes on it.

"Ah- where... did you get that butterfly cage...?" she finally asked, curious as to its origins. The table was full of many 'treasures', as he had said, but the cage in particular... for some reason, Minkowski felt as if she should try to work out a trade for it.
