In a calm village humans and faunus work together to make their daily bread and many goods to sell to Vale in order to make ends meet. The mass lake which the village centers around blesses the land with fresh water from the far off mountain and the fresh vegetation nourishes the forest nearby. While stories and gossip is plentiful here strangers were not a common sight in this tight-knit community.
Thus is the account of a young swordsman's passing travel and how his moment in time here had not gone unnoticed.

Post count: 27 Zachariah de La Vallière The sun shine high, and wind blows soft, and from the edge of the village he walked in. A young man in black with swords sheath to his side slowly dredged on the road with his shoulder slumped and his face dropping tiredly. "I can't go another mile like this." The summer sun heated him well but it was his grumbling stomach and aching muscles which was making him feel miserable at the moment. That was until a few local hunters relaxing at the village entrance noticed the young lad. "Hey you're not from around here are you, Boy." The already tired young swordsman walked by, ignoring the four teens with his thoughts of food and rest, which ticked off the teens. "Don't act like you don't hear us stranger!" One of them picked up a rock and tossed it at the young swordsman hitting him in the back, causing him to stop and turn to face his aggressors. "You must be new here," Spoke the leader of the group, "Because all locals travelers know there's a toll for using our roads, and you seem to be braking the rules which could get you hurt." While the teens knew they were lying they also knew the stranger wouldn't know that, and thus they began moving to circle around the young swordsman dressed in black... ¨For a swordsman, I would hope you would not be weak enough to let some little kids try bully you into a toll¨ a voice echoed. It was smooth in tone but had a rough edge to it at the end. Almost like a calm snake. Flipping a coin, he would look over to the kids that were throwing rocks and gave a menacing look. A glow of purple came from his eyes as they glared on the young-lings. Hopefully, it drove them away. If not, he would just have to go to a more extreme method of dealing with the rugrats. However, considering how he had to always discipline them, he was certain it would not be necessary. Another flip of his coin and a smirk would come over the man. A fang hanging out from his lips. A predator of the land. ¨My name is Bashmu. Local town huntsman. I may look young but that only because... I am young" he would comment. Bashmu was 5´8 and was obviously in his early 20s. His blue hair had an accessory in it that held a dice at the end. From his cosmetics, he didn´t seem like your typical huntsman. Seemed more like a con man than anything. ¨So, are you a huntsman too? Or just a wanna be?¨

Post count: 28 Zachariah de La Vallière A sigh escapes the young swordsman as he easily picks up on the vibe. "I'm not in the mood for this." With irritation the young swordsman places a hand on the hilt of his thinner sword but before anyone could make a move another voice cuts through. Everyone turned to meet eyes with the newly appeared body, yet it was this man's eyes which said much more than his words. With the flip of a coin a deep violent gleam sent the teens running, leaving the young swordsman wondering if he should have ran as well. "At least the others are gone now." The young swordsman thought with hopefulness. Another flip of the coin caught the young swordsman's eye for a moment just before the new man began walking closer; A fang and sharp eyes telling something of the nature to this Faunus man. Introductions were short but quite sufficient, and as to the words asked by the snake the young human answer truthfully and kind. "I wouldn't say I'm a wannabe but I am on my path to becoming an official huntsman." After being sure to say his piece against the wannabe comment the young swordsman bowed slightly and gave Bashmu his own name. "I am Zachariah de La Vallière, and I'm a seventeen year old traveling swordsman!" While Bashmu indeed look young Zach looked about the same age as the rugrats the snake faunus helped him shoo off. Though Zach had some fire when introducing himself his energy soon poofed away, his pep being replaced but the loud roar of his empty belly. "You wouldn't happen to know of a place to get some cheep eats, would ya?Company:: Bashmu Clothing:: In picture Feeling:: Exhausted Condition:: CautionLocation:: Main road leading into village Card account:: 300.00$ Items:: Insignia, Lockpick, Flash bombs x1, Smoke bomb x2, Magnum

The snake faunus was surprised by how open the young man was. This village was not too bad but certain types of information it was best not to disclose. Especially to someone that you do not know. Still, it was obvious to Bashmu that this male was someone who was in clueless and just was looking for shelter. A passerby? A nomad who had no intention of really making any type of alteration to the dynamic of the village. Still, that did not mean Bashmu had to like him. ¨So a beacon brat? Never thought see one of you down here. Autrox must be up to something" Bashmu commented. Autrox was well known. Well, how could he not be considering he was the person in charge of Beacon and held a council seat. ¨Of course, but I take it you have money on a card or in credits? We do not take that kind of money here. You want something, either get it for free or do an exchange. Some call it the barter system. Me, I get food for free in exchange for killing grim. If too hungry do that.....there is a place further in the village more technology advanced but...the prices are a bit steep."Bashmu said this for a reason. He wanted to know if he was wrong. HE also wanted to know how much money Zachariah had on him and what his morality was like. ¨Could kill a cow and just cook it. Option is yours¨ He added before another flip occurred. The town seemed to work efficiently. A few group of people had passed them during the conversation. Some were harvesters and others were clothes makers. But from its looks, the more valuable items never were circulated. In fact, it seemed that the heart of the Village was in a different time space than that of the remainder of the village. It also would become apparent that for some odd reason no one from the middle of the village ever left the epic center. For a traveler, it would seem strange not to see 1 person from the more technological advanced area.

Post count: 29 Zachariah de La Vallière "Beacon Brat?" Zachariah's brow visibly furrowed as he repeated Bashmu's term for would be future heroes in his head. It was slightly rude being considered a brat, yet that didn't keep Zach's attention for long. The name Autrox grabed the young swordsman's ear with interest, causing a slight head tilt of confusion; A kid from the sticks like him only really knowing that Beacon Academy exist in the big city of Vale. While Zachariah was somewhat uneducated to the council and quite a few other things he could fully understand the situation he was in. It wasn't odd for work to be traded for food or goods, since his life back home was nearly almost the same, but this meant he'd have to strategize a little. "Grimm slaying sounds honorable but I'm in no condition to do that right now." While he spoke truth Zach also had a hunch that Bashmu wouldn't help kill a Grimm for cheep, for nothing is done for free or without exchange in this world. "Taking a small animal from a farm does sound tempting, but with the sun still up I have time to try other options first."With a stretch of his arms and a casual yawn Zachariah had to get energy soon. His travel before this village hadn't gone all that smoothly, but before he resorts to thievery of an honest farmer Zach wanted to do things rightly, if he could. That in mind he only really had one option left, and it was one he was uncertain about but had to stake a bet on. "Bashmu, could you take me further into the village? I don't have much but maybe we could get lucky and find somewhere reasonably priced to eat...Or somewhere to gamble and win some Lien." While the chill huntsman said the bartering system was big in this village Zachariah had a strong suspicion that wasn't completely the case in all the village. If they had more tech at center of the village rather than the outskirts the young swordsman could only assume there was a division of sorts between classes here. Bashmu nodded when he repeated his words. No apology was going to be given. He was a beacon brat. Some people wouldn't like that around the village. It was a simple system but the root of it all was greed and jealousy. Those who got to go to beacon were able to get out of this hell hole. While Vale was able to feed off the resources of the village without having to give much back. Why? Protection?! It didn't matter though. If you were in the more technological advanced center, you pretty much was an annexation of vale. Outsiders? Well, we can get into that later. He had seen some things.
"Tired? Then seems your options are limited huh? I would of went with the stealing a cow...but I guess.... I can show you a place or two. Just keep your mouth shut and stay out of anything that has nothing to do with you" Bashmu stated as he hissed at the end, a fork tongue being shown to Zach before Bashmu started to lead the way. It wasn't a long trek. A mile or so before they reached into the middle of the village. As they walked, things became more and more advanced and the types of people they saw were more shady in character or economically richer.
Passing a farm, it had faunus working out in the fields but they seemed to be run ragged. Similar things were to be seen. In a back alley they passed there was a faunus that was getting beaten up gang style by a group of humans. "Do not look.." He commented as he pressed on passed the alley. The sounds of pleading and crying loud and evident. The victim was pleading. She was an expecting mother who already had mild depression. Who knows what would happen if she lost her expected child. STOP I AM EXPECTING! PLEASE.. I WILL MAKE UP MY HOURS. I SWEAR! "Don't stop Zach...We have to keep going Bashmu stated in a defeated tone. He hoped he listened. If not, he didn't want to have to save the man from a fight.

Post count: 30 Zachariah de La Vallière With a roll of the eyes from Zachariah, due to Bashmu's cow comment, the young swordsman nodded to the simple instruction given to him. "I got it. I'll try laying low." He says to Bashmu yet Zach really hoped this place was more calm than what it was seemingly beginning to appear. An outsider looking in may think the village as quaint but now, through the eyes of his guide, Zach was going to see how some places aren't as innocent as they appear. The further the two walked into the village the more Zachariah began seeing the differences in lifestyles. From tattered clothes to upper crust snobs, appearances gradually improved and the technical impressed the slightly naive young swordsman. His eyes were brightly lit by the neon lights and fast moving vehicles but soon he cought sight of what the real face of this graceful land looked like. Two men talked about a friendship formed over a business deal yet both their eyes seemed insincere. A human woman and a faunus woman complemented one another yet they were also followed by backhanded remarks. For all the nice clothes and pretty lights it helped nothing in disguising their ugly attitudes. As the two pass by an alleyway Zachariah had caught sight of a crime, and though it was brief his innocent eyes widened with shock. Don't look, but to that Zach couldn't comply. Only a few steps after the wall of a building cuts the violence from sight did the young knight hear the desperate pleas of the expecting mother. The sight of the poor overworked faunus from the farm earlier flashed through his mind and the voice from the past echoed within Zachariah's ears. "You think it's so easy for humans and faunus to get along but you don't know anything!"Zachariah's footsteps suddenly stopped after being told to carry on, and with his bangs slightly covering his eyes he gave a calmly bold response. "I'm sorry Bashmu but I can't do that..." With a swift motion Zachariah unsheathed his sword Freyr and took a swift second to activate its internal mechanisms, causing the sword to shift and become a thick shield. "You can choose to run if you're afraid, but I'm not gonna ignore that woman's suffering like everybody else." His free hand took out a flash grenade from the holsters within his battle jacket, and then with haste the little knight turned to rescue the faunus woman in the alleyway. Zachariah took position just behind the corner of the building and waited a second before peaking into the alleyway. While the woman cried out, holding onto her stomach and blocking as best as she could, Zach took to memory where the gangsters were positioned and hid behind the corner again. With a pull of the flash grenade's pin Zach tossed the distraction into the alley and waited to hear the bang before rushing in. With shield raised and eyes locked onto the gangsters the young knight charged with all his might and bashed at them like a iron bull. "Miss! Follow me to safety!" While Zach was fairly certain the faunus woman would be hearing a ringing in her ears he hoped she would catch on to his intentions as he took her by the hand we tried running to escape with her. Bashmu should of known the beacon brat was going to be trouble. Bashmu was not a coward, he just knew how the city worked. Those screams, they were sincere but not the way that the male would imagine. Watching the situation go down, Bashmu didn't interfere but instead would lean against a nearby building and watch the situation go down. He was being heroic. The energy must be coming from seeing an injustice. Little did he know, he caused a greater one! Bashmu didn't get much issues from locals because his Faunus traits weren't all that noticeable so he was able to look human until the time was right. Unfortunately, his bite was another thing~ Once the violence settled down and the offer of help was given to the lady, Bashmu laughed as the lady pushed Zach away and darted away as fast as she could. The belly of the pregnant fetus that was supposed to be inside had shifted and a few crystals of dust had fallen out from under her clothes. It was obvious what occurred, but Bashmu was going to speak on it to.
"Hiding stolen dust in a fake pregnant belly. An original and old tactic....Well..." he would start before he noticed the beaten up bad guys caught a good glimpse of the two. A sigh escaped his lips. "We are marked" he added in a nonchalant tone. It meant serious trouble but for Bashmu he wasn't worried. He felt that something like this was going to happen. It was just going to be a pain. Hopefully, they could cut off the snakes head instead of going through a whole large a** journey. "Let's get going Zach, a place to rest is up ahead. We should hurry quickly before reinforcements come" Bashmu stated as he picked up a hard light dust crystal and placed it in his pocket. I'll just hold on to that .

Post count: 31 Zachariah de La Vallière He grabbed the woman's hand and had turned to try running away with her, but suddenly Zachariah was shoved to the side forcing him to let go. It was the faunus woman herself that had shoved him away and as she ran by Zach's eyes silently asked the woman why. With the faunus woman's victorious laugh becoming an echo in the distance Zach had noticed what was dropped on the ground and picked up a hard fire dust crystal. "So it was all just for these..." There was a disappointed tone as Zach spoke his own thought while examining the slightly warm mineral in his hand; His shield low to his side as he slightly grew angry. Bashmu seemed to be unfazed to all this, and that only made sense to the naive little knight as he guessed that he's seen these kinds of tricks before. Did the fanged faunus already see this coming and that's why he was trying to warn him? Bashmu spoke out again in his usual casual confidence, the young knight pocketing the crystal, yet Zach's eyes brightened up with realization once her put two and two together when his guide told them they were "marked". Zachariah looked back at the sore thugs, making eye contact directly at them, before he began moving fast with shield in hand. "s**t! The whole reason I used my flash bang was to prevent them seeing me!"Because Zach had stood like a dolt in the alleyway the temporary blindness had faded and the thugs got a good look at Zach's face, yet now that he was following at Bashmu's pace he took this moment to shift his Freyr from shield mode to sword mode inorder to sheath his weapon. "Shouldn't we be finding a place to lay low?" Zachariah asked with a hint of worry in his voice; Followed by bold foolishness from a little fighter. "Preferably somewhere with food!"Company:: Bashmu Clothing:: In picture Feeling:: Exhausted Condition:: CautionLocation:: Village center district Card account:: 300.00$ Lien:: 0.00$ Items:: Insignia, Lockpick, Flash bombs x0, Smoke bomb x2, Magnum, Fire crystal

A smirk was taking in the sight. A sign that Bashmu was truly amused at the ignorance of the boy. ¨That is gold. Dust crystals during a dust shortage. Considering the size of that belly, she made off with a miniature fortune. She either had a good connect or robbed the vale military. Whichever the case, it not just for these. Remember their worth. Dust makes the world go round. You can bring a whole army to their knees for the right price. "He would inform the poor boy. ¨Your flash worked for only so long. However, you forgot other things. Cameras. Faunus abilities. Those who can sense and track aura. There are many different types of semblances out there. You at least can fight. I will give you that one kid. "A short praise from the snake faunus was given. Smart plan, but environment was one where you had to adapt to crime and everything in between!
Zach asked an interesting question. One that anyone would ask given the situation. Bashmu remained calm. He did not become scared or anxious of the situation. Ït was no secret some one or something was going to be chasing after them now. So, why was Bashmu not worried. ¨No point laying low. Considering what you just interrupted, it would do us no good. Only can prepare to fight and get rest. Do not worry. They are not going to come now....they will come in due time. Just be ready for it¨ Bashmu informed before leading him to a building.
The building looked like it was a bookstore from the outside but on the inside it was...exactly a book store. Walking inside, he would go up to a random book on the shelf and lift it up. The lifting causing a trigger which caused the book case to shift and lead to stairs down below. Walking down the stairs, it would be an underground saloon type of deal. Shady figures everywhere along with some military presence from Vale. One thing was obvious, you needed an invite to get in. ¨GO order you some food. Tell em its on the house. If want to fight, see Bashmu about it" With that, he went to a table and sat, getting handed some playing cards. ¨Jokers are wild boyssss. Do not dissssssappoint me today. ¨ .

Post count: 32 Zachariah de La Vallière An understanding was beginning to sink into the young knight. Dust always was valuable, Zachariah understood that working in the mines back home, but just how people acquired their daily necessities became much more complicated the closer he gets to Vale. Was his imagine of a utopian city actually false? Would the line of morality begin to blur more the further he'd travel? While there was still that slight bit of anger in Zachariah from what transpired in the alleyway the reason still hadn't changed; He was upset at himself for being so stupid. His time here had already proven beneficial, in a sense. It was making Zachariah a little wiser to the ways of the world while he also picked up on different skills from Bashmu's warnings and reminders. Zachariah was use to troublesome situations being more simple and bring able to be delt with directly, but Zachariah did miscalculate. Semblances, or even natural abilities, could have still gotten him exposed yet adapting to technology was something he was gonna have to work at. Still, Zachariah felt that maybe (just maybe) Bashmu might know what he was feeling and that's was why the roguish faunus gave his complement. Or perhaps Bashmu genuinely seen fighting potential in him. "Thank you Bashmu, not just for the complete but for the wisdom too."Zach followed a few steps before his question of hiding was answered, then a weight was slightly lifted for the time being. No danger for now, which was nice, yet the young knight was knowing that thugs were going to be like a pack of Beowolfs; Strike in packs and don't forget a grudge easily. That being the case Zachariah's curious eyes glanced into the bookstore they were to enter and his eyes lit up at the spines of all the books around. "There are a few technical manuals here! Bashmu, I didn't know you like to read." Or so Zachariah thought until he watched his guide pull a specific book and reveal the secret passage. "Of course we weren't here just to read."Zachariah follow Bashmu's lead with a lax swagger down the stairs to his a small smile form upon his lips. This was much like what he had though a secret speakeasy might look like and there was quite an array of people. Well, not really since there seemed to be brutes, floozies and swindlers all around; It was strange to see supposed good guys down here. Bashmu had gone to do his own thing at a card table, to which Zachariah practical glowed after hearing he was free to order what he desired to eat. The young knight was surely not going to pass up the opportunity! Zachariah kept sure to keep Bashmu within sight as he stood at the bar, an angel where they both could eye one another through the crowd, and with the raise of a hand Zachariah would gain the attention of the bartender walking to him. "I'd like the biggest meal y'all serve here and something good to wash it down with!" The innocent young man ordered and would kindly wait for the meal and drink but as he did so Zach watched the cards get delt at the gambling table; Eyes sharp on the hands Bashmu's opponents held while the kid tried learning the game by observing. The waiter would come back with a big hearty meal for the warrior. A big 20 oz ribeye with baked potato that was loaded with toppings. A Ceasar salad was also added to the side that had the option to put the chicken on it and lastly, there was a drink given to Zach. The drink wasn't normal. It was definitely alcoholic but the way it was made, 40 fraterneties put their mind together to where you can't even taste the alcohol. It was crazy! For zach, it simply taste like delicious juice. Kool Aid for those with imaginative taste buds.
Bashmu was losing in the game, but he did not seem bothered. In fact, it looked like it was on purpose. Each time he lost, he was losing more and more coins. He only had a few chips left, but he looked fine. Too calm to be someone who was being ransomed for all his money. "I will go all in. My lassssssst chip and the boy over there isssss my bet. SSSSsssshould cover" Bashmu stated with a fiery glow from his eyes. 2 folded, but a guy who was full of pride went all in. 500,000 credits. All on the line. "A fool looksssss a man in the eyesssss and sssstayysss ignorant of his surroundings," Bashmu commented before the dealer dealt the 5 cards.
"2 Jokers~. And with the cards on the field. It's impossible for you to win" He commented. The guy laughed. His opponent must of had the cards needed. Or so he thought. FOOL. I HAVE DONE IT. I GOT THE ACE AND THE 2 NEEDED! He stated with a heartful laugh to reveal his cards. However,...he only had an Ace and 9 of a different suit. Looking at his cards, he was dumbfounded. How was he cheated out of his win? How did the cards switch?!!!! Bashmu just chuckled. "Imagination? Tragic" Bashmu stated with a smile before taking out his scroll and having the money transferred. He was one for digital, not on hand currency. Of course, credits would of been fine. This was the technological area of the village. Also meant Zach could purchase stuff now too.
Since his back was to the entrance, Bashmu didn't see the increase in military presence that was occurring. More and more Vale soldiers were coming in. Some he never saw before. Some that looked more righteous than shady. Zach would notice that some of the patrons there were getting their weapons ready. It looked like a showdown was going to happen soon. The tension was starting to feel the air. Exactly, what did Vale do to this poor town?! .

Post count: 33 Zachariah de La Vallière While his food was being prepared Zach was served his chil drink as he watch the gambling game progress. It wasn't very impressive to see how much Bashmu sucked at the game and still Zach couldn't look away from this wreckage happening in front of him. With a sip of his drink Zach began getting a feel for strategy of the card game, that single sip getting his attention though with it decadent taste. "Woah, this is sweet!" Taste buds dance to the sonata of the mixed liquid! It was sweet like a candy but not so much as to over do it yet the smooth like water also had a distinct taste or texture to it that Zach couldn't identify. Not that it mattered much after the plates touched the bar in front of him, to witch the growing young man happily began devouring like a starving Manticore (Grimm); A patron to his left giving a concerned look before Zach noticed him and gave the man a happily yet confused stare with the steak being held in his hungry jaws. Gulping down a large bite of beef, his favorite food along side with the potatoes, the destroyed salad sat quietly as Zachariah watched the game along with the patron to his side. They had both been talking about the rules of gambling around these parts and also commenting amongst one another on the plays being made. "I'd be worrying about your friend at this moment. He looks like he's s**t at this game." While Zachariah took a long drink of his sweet water the little knight would slam his drink down, cheeks flushed red, and spoke confidently. "Naw, he's got this. I mean he sucks, and I'mb not all that sure I should be felling so confibent, butt for some reason I feel like he's got this!" Zachariah was beginning to slur his words, unbenounced to the virgin drunk, at a moment where his senses would be needed the most. Bashmu was in a sticky situation. The snake faunus, with his slithering speech, was just about out of gambling chips and everyone with eyes on the game knew it. It came down to a desperate moment for Zach's guide, the snake going so far as to betray Zachariah and offer him up as collateral. Zach was so shocked to hear a man was willing to win him that he spat out a mouthful of the tasty liquid and choked as the innocent young man tried to protest. "That's high quality stuff! Don't go wasting it on dirtying my bar!" The bartender growled at Zachariah, who was just catching his breath, when Zach happen to see Bashmu's only opponent barely lift his cards from the table to see his hand. Victory was proclaimed by the gambling rival with his call of an Ace and a 2 in his hand but Zach thought the man must have been drunk! There wasn't a 2 in the other gambler's hand but there was a 9, to both Bashmu's benefit and Zach's as well; A funny thing noticed being that the two high rollers glared at each other just before the flip of the cards. "Hell yeah! I'm a free man!" The sudden outburst from the tipsy young man gain another low growl from the bartender, and attention of others nearby, only for the rooms attention be brought to the newcomers. Through the corner of his eye Zach seen the troubled bartender reaching for something underneath their side of the bar, keeping a hand hidden under the counter. With a strange tension filling the saloon like secret area Zach decided to just start downing whatever "water" he had left in his cup before giving a satisfied sigh. "Ahhhh, *hiccup*, I coulbn't eat another bite!" With his hand placed on his stomach, Zach slid his hand under his coat and grabbed onto a smoke grenade he had; Pin pulled and ready to drop at a moment's notice. First with a stumble then with a drunken swag, Zach swayed his way through the shifting crowd the approach Bashmu to tapped his shoulder. "You done here? I think weeeeb should be headin to that appoinment you hab." A slight head motion to motion to the sudden number soldiers entering the spot, as well as some patrons place a hand on their weapons, before Zach would move his coat a little so that Bashmu would see the readied smoke grenade being held. Bashmu saw what he was working with, but Bashmu didn't seem like he was going to make any type of movement. In fact, Bashmu seemed like he was blowing off Zach's idea. He wasn't, but he also knew how vale military was. The soldiers entering would start to pester some people while others seemed to just be hanging out. One would look at Zach in particular and give a few moments of silence before calling out to him. HEY YOU! COME HERE. WE NEED TO HAVE A WORD Yeah, whenever someone says that it means to run.
