The market would be packed today as most days were gathering nouls looking for supplies and treats. As the morning arrived a particular doe set into motion seeking her ingredients than creating her masterpieces. To others of her kind, it was the sweetness of the pastries, and the warmth of fresh-baked bread, To Nutella, is was the creation leaving her fulfilled knowing she'd made a masterpiece, a work of art to be proud of that others appreciated. Finishing up her last preparations, Nutella loaded her baked goods into a medium-sized wagon that she hooked herself of to. Stepping out of her home she could smell the sweetness that cooled within the ovens her hooves had built years ago.
Nutella was but a youth when she discovered her love for baking following her parents around watching, learning everything they attempted. Her father Ferrero was also a scout but, he also could make some amazing cakes when free time allowed. Her mother was supreme with any and all sweets one could even think of. If her children could forage it, she would create some of the most amazing treats. Hence, why Nutella their oldest wanted to follow in her parents' hoof steps. Things weren't easy at first leaving the small doe disheveled, feeling down till she realized things weren't meant to be perfected within a day. So, she strived daily facing disappointments under Nestle's watchful gaze. The more things that ended up in failure drove her to push herself until she started seeing progress. Before Nutella could admit she'd been successful she on her own building an oven mastering fire through the sun.
Nutella let out a contented sigh as she approached the market to her usual stall.
Setting up her shop she announced her bakery was open, "Come get your fresh pastries, cakes, and pies"!
Quietly, she seated herself on her haunches waiting for her first customer of the day.
Waiting about a half-hour with no business left her confused since it was always busy this time of day. Pulling herself to her feet she wandered out catching a glimpse of nouls gathering, whispering excitedly about Brightheart resurrecting another creature. While Nutella wasn't one to keep up with gossip she wondered curiously what kind of bones the life-giver had found. Nutella had never taken a familiar, much less bonded to one always baking, creating her works of art. But, this time her own curiosity was getting the better of her as she headed up through the large crowd till she saw the ascended Life-Giver, wings outstretched standing over foreign bones to Nutella. Continuing her way through the crowd she stopped quietly in front of the older doe her eyes glistening in wonderment.
Politely, she spoke to the Ascended, "I've never gotten the chance to have a companion before" She paused thinking, "I'm not sure what "worthiness" means in your eyes but, I'd like to offer guardianship for this creature."
For the time being Nutella stood there not thinking about her baked goods cooling in the breeze. Rather, she was giving her soul time to reflect on someone else that inspired her heart.
The breeze lightly swirled as the chatter died down from the crowd leaving a moment of silence with Nutella. Then as if the sun had brightened the area Bright Heart spoke, "Thank you for offering your guardianship for this creature. Only those worthy would approach me, unsure or not. You're Nutella born of Ferrero and Nestle? The one who makes those amazing sweets?!" the paler noul queried with a wide smile.
"Yes, Why do you ask?" Nutella asked in return noting the excited tone in Bright Heart's tone".
Bright Heart smiled back, "Would it trouble you too much to bring me a Sweet cake bun? I realized I haven't eaten anything yet this morning once I smelled your cart arriving".
Nutella laughed quietly though her heart was beating with pure exhilaration, "Why of course! Do you want one with or without the glaze?"
Bright Heart laughed, "With please..... and thank you".
Nutella nodded, "I'll be right back" she responded taking off in a trot.
When she reached her stall she realized that in her preparations she had forgotten the sweet glaze. Panicking she closed her stall for the time being and raced home. While she headed back her enthusiasm was apparent as a smile covered her muzzle and expression. Her own walk was more of prance as she headed into her kitchen. Taking one of the Sweet cake buns still warm in the cooling oven she dribbled the silvery sweet glaze over till it melted in a cascade reminiscent of a waterfall. Sprinkling on some sparkles she nodded then packed up the desert in the closet container she could find. Pretty soon she was back in Homewood racing toward Bright Heart who stood patiently waiting for her return.
"I actually forgot Sweet Glaze so I made this one special for you". Nutella spoke as she uncovered the amazing pastry that could make anyone's mouth water.
Bright Heart smiled eyes glimmering, "Its perfect! Please come back once I'm ready. Your familiar will be waiting for you".
"Thank you! I will most definitely do that!" Nutella beamed turning away to return to her pastry stand. Stopping short she couldn't believe it! A crowd had seen her gift a Sweet Cake bun to Bright Heart and they desired one as well. Good thing she also grabbed the Sweet glaze on her second time to the market. Nutella was glad she had baked so much this morning.
She was going to have a lot of business today.
