The Destiny City Reservoir opened about a year ago and is an easy escape from the big city. It’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it’s been back in the news recently for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they’ve spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It’s hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Are you the type to investigate this or is it enough to dampen your waterfront plans? While you may not ever actually interact with the supposed cryptid, you can spot a strange creature in the distance. And, who knows what youma are crawling in the area, anyway?

Chambersite would have thought that whatever “cryptid”, whatever the heck those were, was monster not a good enough word anymore? would be the doing of the Negaverse and a Youma swimming within the Reservoir to devour any poor soul who had been dumb enough to swim too deep. Though he couldn’t understand why anyone went to the Reservoir anyway. The city had commissioned it, of course most likely needing to destroy some of the natural landscape in the surrounding area for their own selfish needs when they had a perfectly good lake, but the fact that the sand somehow squeaked when walking on it.

It didn’t make any sense. What the **** was the sand made out of to make such a noise? It would have been different if it was like the sound someone made while wearing sandals that had decided to make noise that day, but literally everyone caused the noise. And the cacophony of all of the squeaking with everyone walking around, he wondered how anyone hadn’t gone insane because of it. He was already finding it grating on his nerves to even be on the sand himself let alone at a more crowded time of day.

He had been assigned to check the “cryptid” out and see if it was something that the Negaverse could use, which was why he was here so late at night and by himself when the Reservoir was closed. And he was starting to wonder if he shouldn’t just call it a night. He hadn’t seen anything close to something swimming in there and wondered if even fish may have been in the body of water. It was completely still, as if the wind had died too and there was nothing left except for his breathing and wondering if he was just missing something.

He decided to stand up after he had been sitting for far too long and couldn’t help but wince as he heard the squeaking once again. He probably wouldn’t have minded waiting nearly half as long if he didn’t have to deal with the noisy beach.

He decided that he would be calling it a night after he had stretched a bit, however even if he hadn’t spoken those words, it was as though the “cyrptid” had read his thoughts as something shot up out of the water, surprising even Chambersite who jumped back a bit, causing more squeaking.

It immediately went back under the surface and Chambersite honestly hadn’t gotten a good look at it. But how could he have when it was this dark, he was so far away from it, and he had blinked halfway through. He could feel himself getting more irritated. He now had reason that something was in the reservoir, but what it was he had no idea. And he did not want to waste the rest of his night hoping that he might get another glance at it.

He made sure to make a note of the date and time but decided that enough was enough for the night and that he would head home, making sure to teleport away from the sand instead of trying to run over it.

He would have to come back here again, but it’s not as if he had a choice. He was only a Captain after all.
