It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be pink, blue, and even purple in color. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.
Glensat on the hill in the late night, watching people prepare for the meteor shower soon to come that night. It was the first time back in town since his most recent out of town excursion for his eye, another failed appointment and the one where he was officially told it was inoperable, that he was at least 70% blind in his left eye, and several recommendations for adults who had recently lost complete or partial vision, So uh, this wasn't a happy people watch. He had come back, ignoring everyone and everything until his mother called, then came to his house, basically strong armed by both of his very stubborn mothers after that to not come back until he had done something, anything, for awhile. So he figured he'd go see the meteor shower, he always liked that, but turns out his vision was now officially s**t at night through his left eye, he might as well have been wearing a blackout eye patch for all the good it was doing. he sighed, laying down. It was an effort not to be miserable, and he honestly was tired of being miserable, the whole thing really was his fault after all, but he couldn't help it, he hadn't really been happy for awhile, and was frankly ashamed he basically abandoned his friends and maybe boyfriend when things went south, he was having a hard time with it. He looked up, mainly depending on his right eye and wouldn't you know, the shower had started! Well, he seemed to be able to see them at least, little yellow and white flecks, he thought of maybe making a wish, but thought better of it for now, he was still trapped in those dark thoughts, and wanted to resurface a bit more before he had a good wish.
He watched for awhile, ignoring as a warm feeling grew within him, a nice, pleasant warmth that maybe him drowsy and relaxed, idly watching what he thought was a pink streak, and a little purple streak, his eyesight was crap now after all, didn't matter if he saw a....okay, now he definitively saw a green one, he looked around, wondering if any else was seeing it. After a slightly longer than normal look around it seemed that now, they didn't, so he shrugged and lied back. He may not have been here awhile, but those scout instincts he had built up never really went away.
He watched, genuinely enjoying when an odd color would pass by, and thought, perhaps the apologizing wouldn't be too bad, they would forgive him, and he'd spend every chance every day he could making it up, wouldn't take their forgiveness for granted, and realized he had his wish.
He closed his eyes as the shower seemed to increase, more shooting stars passing by, the colors a bit more noticeable now, and wished for the courage to follow through on his apologies, to not mess them up, he'd hate to lose them for good, especially Andy. He opened his eyes as the showers increase ended, and relaxed, taking a drink of the beer he had brought with him, a bit more at ease now.
