It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be pink, blue, and even purple in color. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.
"Nothing like sitting back and relaxing while looking at the sky." Erich said to himself as he laid outside on the sleeping bag he had set up. Even though he liked his rental cabin, at times he just wanted to sleep outside for a bit. Tonight was one of those nights as there had been a meteor shower prediction and he had wanted to see at least one shooting star. He was quite away from the city so the night was clearer than it would be with all of the city lights in the way.
Here though it was quiet. Perfectly quiet for his tastes. No large air conditioners running, no cars zooming past, no one else talking and sitting around ruining the peaceful atmosphere, nothing like it. He just couldn't understand why so many people liked it. He much preferred the quiet outdoors. Though he could do without all of the bugs that came with it. If there was one complaint that he did have living out here, it's that he wished the pest person came more than once a month to spray.
Still, he had his sleeping bag out, his tent set up, dinner had been eaten, and now he was free to well, look at the sky waiting for a shooting star or just sit and think until he fell asleep. The latter would probably be the option taken as while he did enjoy the wilderness, he also liked to be doing something too if he was just waiting. And while he would have brought a solar-powered light to read with, that would have given off too much light and he might miss the "shooting stars".
Instead he had the radio on to a relaxing music station. Something that filled a bit of the quiet but wasn't overwhelming. And he could turn it off at any time too!
Still, the atmosphere was quiet and it gave him time to think. And most of those thoughts were getting out of the Negaverse versus anything related to school or the degree that he was heading towards. He still didn't agree with what that Senshi had said. Sure, that Senshi might have rebelled more against the Negaverse, but he would have been swiftly punished and possibly executed after doing so. Especially if it was obvious.
No, that was what Erich would have to avoid. He had to be as silent and sneaky about it as he could be. Which wasn't too hard. As much as the Negaverse was organized, they still had their blindspots. And if you gave them the needed energy then most of the time they would ignore you. He still hadn't been assigned a General and he was a Captain now. One would have thought that someone who had been under the "care" of that General who had forcibly recruited him would have kept their eye on him more, but so far they seemed to trust him. Not completely of course, but just enough that he didn't have to be monitored 24/7. Instead it was more like 12 hours a day, which was still nerve-wracking.
He needed to find a way out of this though, and as soon as he thought that he spotted something zooming across the sky, and he realized that the meteor shower was now beginning. He closed his eyes, and while doing so muttered that he wished he would be able to be purified soon.
He couldn't help but laugh to himself. And when he opened his eyes again he could see that not only were the meteors white, but they were pink, blue, and purple if he looked closely. He wasn't sure if that was natural or not, but perhaps that was a sign. "Shouldn't be trusting the stars to make my wishes come true, but I hope it does at least." He said as he laid back and continued to watch the shower until it was done, and for the first time in a while, slept soundly in his tent until he had to wake up the next morning.
