The Destiny City Reservoir opened about a year ago and is an easy escape from the big city. It’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it’s been back in the news recently for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they’ve spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It’s hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Are you the type to investigate this or is it enough to dampen your waterfront plans? While you may not ever actually interact with the supposed cryptid, you can spot a strange creature in the distance. And, who knows what youma are crawling in the area, anyway?

Duncan couldn't believe that he was back here at the reservoir again. He was back here, once again, after having to take over for another lifeguard who had called out sick. After half-an-hour into his shift, Duncan wondered if it wasn't just from the lifeguard refusing to be tortured by the sound of constant squeaking that the sand decided to make. It was one thing to go and lifeguard around the lake or a pool, at least they didn't have squeaky sand surrounding them.

But here it was practically unbearable and Duncan was sure that he would be forever haunted by the squeaks for months to come after working one shift at the reservoir. If he was ever told to work here again, he would quit on the spot. And he knew that they wouldn't want him to leave. He was one of the few lifeguards that took his job seriously after all with the others barely paying attention for half of their shifts before they decided to go and hit on women or something.

He couldn't help but grumble as the last of the guests made their way out and he made sure that no others were in the reservoir as he went to pick his things up from the lifeguard station. When he came back out though, he noticed something in the water. It was too far away to tell what it really was, but it looked as though it were some sort of... deer? Swimming in it.

He debated whether or not he should brave the sand one more time just to see the creature, but decided to check it out, only slightly flinching at the squeaking as he made his way to the water's edge.

From here the creature was still too far away to tell what it was. He had heard, and been told, reports of some weird creature within the reservoir, though he was sure that they were exaggerating. After all, there were plenty of large animals that would make their way into it. One time they even had to evacuate the reservoir so they could coax a bear out of it. That one had been tranquilized and transported elsewhere when it had gotten out, but it wasn't the first time something had been in the reservoir that shouldn't have been.

Still, with the darkness finally settling in, Duncan could only make out the waves that the creature was creating. It didn't look weird enough to be a Youma, but he briefly wondered if he should power up to make sure it wasn't doing anything.

He thought against it however. There had no reports of drowning or people feeling extra tired after swimming, and most of the supposed "pictures" that had been taken of the "cryptid" appeared to be photo-shopped. There wasn't any evidence that it was supernatural in anyway and even if Duncan had only just been introduced to the other side, he was still skeptical of claims such as this. Just because one believed that something magical could happen doesn't mean that all of it happened. There were still rules that governed even the magical side of things, and this just didn't seem to be a concern at the moment.

He decided that if he were to hear possible problems about it then he would check it out later. For now though, he just wanted to get away from the reservoir and away from the horrible squeaky mess that embedded into his brain.

Maybe the sand was a youma instead?
