He was READY. Kourith had been itching for a race every day since the day that he was hatched but since he'd actually gotten better and better at flying solo recently oh he just couldn't hold back anymore. In fact he'd been so brave, buffeted by Verica's praise and love, that he'd swaggered his tiny blue body up to his large blue uncle and now here he was!

Uncle Aurinkoth! I challenge you to a race! Kourith said, his eyes dancing bright greens and blues and his wings slightly mantled... possibly to make himself look much larger and maybe more intimidating? It was hard to tell. But he was excited, that much showed itself in his lashing pale tail.

Of all the uncles he might have challenged he hoped that Aurinkoth wouldn't turn him down, that's why he'd chosen him, because he figured the fun loving blue wouldn't turn him down and it was going to be so much fun!

He loved the little ones - and from the get go, Aurinkoth had been eager to get a chance to play and tumble whenever they'd give him more than a second glance. Which, fortunately for him, several of them had been very indulging of his desires. Clearly, he was the luckiest of all the boys!

So when he saw Kourith on the approach, Aurinkoth had held his ground to see what it was his nephew wanted - and bugled with delight at the challenge to follow. A race! Okay! What is the course? Aurinkoth could have dreamed up so many routes, but was gently reminded through his bond that Kourith was still young and couldn't go out as far as he could because of the rules.

Which was a shame, but maybe if they went just a little far it'd be exciting! And be a good race! And Kourith would love it!

Oh how he wanted to go outside the Weyr to race, if only he could. That day would come of course, but for now the blue senior weyrling flexed his wings and looked up around the Bowl. He and his had just been assigned a weyr, close to the very top naturally given his status, but racing to that would barely allow he and his uncle to stretch their wings at all.

You must have flown all over this area. Kourith bowed playfully and thrashed his tail, hoping that it would coax Aurinkoth into flying even faster. He pointed up towards the weyr ledge he'd just been assigned. From there, to the fire heights, to the bathing pools and back here. He stamped his front claws down.

Short course, but it would be a start at least and get them both time to open their wings and test their maneuverability. Being a few feet shorter than his uncle would pay off in his dexterity with regards to those turns, but he also knew that the older blue was fast. This would be a show down.

Aurinkoth returned the play-bow, stretching out his wings as he listened intently to Kourith plot out the circuit he wanted them to fly. It was a solid route, certainly, for the amount of space the two were limited to for now. Oh, how he couldn't wait to show him the paths that were more often traced in pursuit of greens and the twists and turns they challenged you to. What fun it would be! How wonderful they would be!

That sounds good to me! Aurinkoth was an agreeable fellow, after all, and for him this was all in good fun either way.

He took a moment to slap down the sand with his claws, settling in as he spread and closed his wings as though making sure they were properly warmed up now. On your signal, then!

Orange threaded into the green of his eyes and Kourith attempted to stretch his much smaller wings out so that they were nearly as long as his uncle's. This of course did not happen, his wing's weren't exactly flexible in that manner, even with his wingtips stretched to their full extent. Anatomy was no real competition, as it was just what it was. So he'd be as large or as small as what he eventually settled at. NO. He wanted to be fast!

His tail lashed once more and he settled into a stance that would allow him to kick off as fast as he knew he could. Excellent, this will be fast but hopefully someday we'll be able to do longer ones. I'm still going to beat you uncle!

It seemed more traditional for a race to count down, but he figured that no matter what they did Aurinkoth would kick off much faster than he himself could possibly manage being smaller and younger. Still, his wings would make up for it, that he was sure!

I'm gonna let you roll first since this is kick off. lol Whichever one you use I'll use the next set down for Kourith since he's smaller and less experienced.
