Welcome to the NPC Big Cat Clutch Giveaway!

This is simply going to be a standard profile contest and raffle married together. As we'd like these profiles finished (besides any tweaking that might have to happen in the QC process) we're going to ask you actually make a full profile to be eligible!

A few things that cannot be changed:

1. These dragons must all be stationed at Western Weyr
2. None of these can be the first to have hatched, or the last. It's probably safest to say they Hatched somewhere in the middle, during all the hubbub.
3. None of them can have suffered traumatic injury or done anything that would have totally changed what happened in the Big Cat Clutch Hatching or during Weyrling Training. While there were some grave injuries, none of their clutchmates are grounded or so disfigured it would have traumatized the group. At present, they are just standard, in relative good-health riders and dragons. (You can rip them to pieces after you win them.)

Big Cat Clutch NPCs
11 NPCs
2 Bronze
2 Brown
3 Blue
4 Greens

- - - - They can only be based, pattern wise, on these themes! To get around the complication, we're going to ask you create the character, or characters first. We will then raffle winners, and assign them the theme based on the remaining cats available! After the riders have been "won" you can fill in the rest based on the theme! Curious about which ones remain?

  1. African Wild Cat
  2. Andean Mountain Cat
  3. Asian Golden Cat
  4. Sunda Clouded Leopard
  5. Chilean Cat
  6. European Wild Cat
  7. Flat-Headed Cat
  8. Jungle Cat
  9. Guttalus Cat
  10. Red Lynx
  11. Tiger Cat

Please note: Due to the amount of NPCs, as well as a change in the allowance for multiple Impressions, we'll be opening this to everyone, regardless if you've Impressed a Big Cat or not.

Also, please be aware each win MUST be loosely based off a big cat. We may need people to be willing to be flexible with the Big Cat Theme. We might allow some tweaks to the profile to account for the theme of the dragon, once it's assigned, but it shouldn't be a complete re-write.

Staff may enter, including Uta & Cheri if we enter. This contest is primarily a rolled/random contest! That said, we reserve the right to add more NPCs if we so choose, and will simply make them twins. All of the cats in this group have the possibility of being twinned!

That said, to be eligible for the raffle, we do require completed profiles to enter!

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO ROLE-PLAY YOUR CHARACTER! As usual, in many of our Hatchings, we only have a small handful of players who appear to be regularly active, and would like to ensure these new hatchlings get the life they deserve.

We want to be fair to our base but we also don't want all this work and these special babies to go to waste. If RPing isn't your thing, we will have other contests in which to win pets that don't require activity.

If we don't get enough entries we will hold onto the babies for future giveaways, contests, or otherwise give them out as we see fit.

You MAY write up to two entries if you feel so inspired. If you choose to write two, we prefer if one entry is at least male in gender, so as to possibly tempt a bronze. The second entry can be a rider of any gender--male, female, non-binary, etc. If you're absolutely against Impressing bronzes, than you may choose to write two that are eligible for chromatics, but we want to ensure the bronze has some options.

You may also only write one or the other, just know that if the rider isn't available to Impressing a bronze, if we run out of chromatics and roll you, you will forfeit the prize.

We will allow you the option to swap up the sex of the dragon if we run out of dragons of a specific color, since the dragon color/sex will be unknown until we roll for winners!

...did that make sense? I sure hope it did!

Begins: Now
Ends: Saturday August 29th @ 1pm PT

The Rules

The Rules
  1. You may enter up to 2 entries, though we heavily prefer one of them at least be eligible for the bronze! The other entry can be eligible just for chromatics or the bronze. If you really do not want a bronze, out of fairness, you may enter two chromatic-only sorts.
  2. Since this is raffle style, you can only win one. You MUST list all the colors offered as a preference, but you can put them in any order of you preferred possible win. i.e. "blue, bronze, brown, green". It will be first roll, first win.
  3. The dragon must be compatible with the rider.
  4. These profiles, once won, MUST go through QC. If you abandon the character once it's in the QC process, or refuse to make requested changes to fit into the canon, we have the right to make the dragon theme a twin, and contest that character to someone else in the shop! We're hoping that won't be the case, but we've had people abandon their characters in QC before, so would like to avoid having an unfinished clutch baby.
  5. You get no say on the theme and the color will be unknown. This means when you write the profile, we ask you to keep the name something generic like "DRAGONTH") or something that you can change when you put it through QC.
  6. Please be open to the possibility that the color you prefer might already be taken, so you might need to tweak your dragon's color/sex or forfeit the win.
  7. You do not get to design what the dragon looks like. That will be a surprise designed by our colorists.
  8. Please keep in mind that all dragons have empathy! So even if you make a mean or cruel dragon, they cannot be completely incorrigible, and cannot be purely evil or overly vicious. If you win and the dragon or rider does NOT fit into our world, you will HAVE to change it/edit it. Do not fight us on this.
  9. Dragons and their riders must fit the Weyr/Pern concept. They do not get to be special snowflakes, they do not get special powers or abilities, they cannot be evil, they must be empathetic, their riders must be socially mature, the riders must be able to be competent dragon riders of Pern.
  10. These are free!
  11. Drama will NOT be tolerated! If this experience turns into angst, either public or private, and causes more trouble and hurt feelings than joy, then we just won't do it again. So please, if you can't handle possibly not winning, then don't participate. This is meant to be fun and offer opportunities to you guys! It's not meant to hurt or punish anybody. There will ALWAYS be more giveaways.
  12. If you do not intend to RP, if you do not intend to talk about your dragon, and if you refuse to make QC fixes once you win the pet -- DO NOT ENTER. This contest should be for those who actually want to give the characters life. The clutches already have so many inactive dragons that get no love or attention, we direly want these to go to people who will love them and use them. We already have an idea of who is active.
  13. We do not have favorites. Our decision-making-process will be based on independent entries and not on the players who enter them, excepting keeping in mind activity levels.
  14. If you already Impressed a big cat, feel free to enter. If you already Impressed a big cat, and don't RP it or banter or enjoy it--please, do not enter for another just for the sake of the contest We don't require a ton of RP but we really want these characters to go to people who will give them some life. Big Cats has many inactive players already, so we would like to flesh out more stories with these new babies!
  15. Once winners are randomized, we will then roll the themes--so it'll be a surprise for all of the winners on the color/theme! The dragon will need to be named after the theme of the cat in some fashion!
  16. If we don't get enough entrants, we will give out the other dragons in other ways. Alternatively, we have the right to add more NPCs/twins, so your theme might have a twin or tripelet.
  17. To qualify, you MUST fill out the form in its entirety. Please don't miss things. We have the right to DQ you if you are missing portions of the form... that said, we try not to be jerks and could give mercy if you forgot something minor. Please--juts proofread your entry once you submit it. You may edit it up until we close it!
  18. If we roll a winner who has an incomplete profile, we will likely DQ them. If you try to write two profiles and only manage one, we ask you remove the unfinished profile.
  19. Please post both profiles in ONE post.
  20. Please use the correct headers!
  21. Please do not plot with others until you land the win. We would prefer you not block opportunities with others until we've raffled off winners.

Cat Clutch Specific Rules
  1. All NPCs must be based on the remaining Big Cats!
  2. DO NOT make cosplay characters.
  3. DO NOT base NPCs off cats already homed! Since you won't know exactly what cat they will be based on, their personality can be anything under the sun.
  4. Don't get attached to a concept or idea. Your NPC is going to need to be critiqued and we may need you to change crucial parts. No fighting with us. Either be flexible, or don't enter at all.
  5. If you do not win, you may use the character as a quest but they would not be part of the clutch theme--so they would need some reworking and would need the theme nixed. You may also axe the dragon and make the rider as a Candidate as well.
  6. Their mother is gold Killakeeth and their father brown Teth.
  7. They have twin golds for sisters-- Kleoth and Leoth. There are also a few other twins that hatched.

Entry Forms

Please fill out the entire application. There will be one preference header that must be filled out (it'll let us move things along as we roll winners)!

Please use the appropriate header!

If you make two entries, please keep them in THE SAME post -- just separate them using the headers. If you make two male characters, and they're both eligible for bronzes, you may simply use the metallic header twice. If you have no interest in a bronze, then you may write two chromatic riders, though only one will win.

General Information You should post this at the very top of your form-- and the profile(s) beneath it. You do not have to post this twice!

What is your dragon color preference?: Blue, Bronze, Brown, Green
If you roll a bronze, which profile gets the win? Solai
If you roll a brown, which profile gets the win? Solai
If you roll a blue, which profile gets the win? Solai
If you roll a green, which profile gets the win? Solai

Name: Solai
Age: 20 - 3556.07.12
Sex: Transgender male
Sexual Orientation: A mess of uncertainty bordering on bisexual.
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman minecrafter
Physical Description:
Well-built and overall as sturdy as a watchwher, one look at Solai in action makes it very clear that he's been doing physical work for most of his life. Although he's not of any incredibly imposing stature, standing at little more than 5'7", he's well-muscled, and can more than carry his fair share of work. He's somewhat overweight, with plenty of padding to protect vital organs during anything physical--he'd just argue that it softens his edges enough to be cozy. Typically, he wears rather simple clothes, and is careful to select fabrics that are both durable and easy to clean. His sense of fashion is more utilitarian than anything, although he allows himself a few frivolities in his accessories--he wears a few thin gold rings, little more than hammered-out pieces of wire, as well as a short necklace of iridescent green glass beads that was given to him upon graduation to Journeyman.
Solai's features are soft, with a broad, gently sloped nose and slightly thin lips that are usually set in a smile in one way or another. He's got a short mess of tightly curled black hair, and it tends to go wherever it pleases with little attempts at styling on his part. His eyes are a deep blue-green, and although he tends to look some shade of tired most of the time, there's no small amount of mirth in there all the same. His skin is dark, littered with starkly pale scars around his hands and forearms from a variety of minor workplace accidents, and although he's got a few slightly stiff fingers as a result of them, he's rather proud of them for the experience he got alongside them.

Personality:
Solai is a firm, no-bullshit individual who follows the mantra of 'work hard, play harder.' He's proud and headstrong, but understands well that his place in the world isn't one of bossing others around--instead, he tends to act more as a guiding force when possible, aiding whoever's in charge of him in keeping order. Maintaining morale is just as important to him, and he's careful to tread that fine line of not cracking down too hard on others when push comes to shove. Above all else, Solai seeks to maintain a level of balance, thinking of the world like a machine--if everything is well-oiled and neatly kept, it'll run perfectly. That's not to say that he has a tendency to view others as more cogs than people--in fact, quite the opposite. Solai is a fervent defender of people's individuality, and not simply from a workplace standpoint. Finding one's personal identity can be difficult, as he very well knows, and he does everything he can (within rules and reason of course) to be as supportive and helpful as is possible with easing others into their best selves.
He's of the mind that there's a time and place for everything, and although his patience leaves something to be desired, Solai will (at times begrudgingly) wait if he has to. There's no need to be rash about things, yes, but it doesn't take very long for him to start chafing in periods of inactivity, and Solai tends to get antsy far faster than may be expected. He's at his best when he's able to keep doing things, be it work or some other general activity, and being placed on any long periods of rest still agitate him. While he'll always submit to those with authority over him, it won't stop him from grousing about it on his own time.

When he's turned loose in a social situation, Solai well and truly thrives, finding it easy to integrate himself into preexisting dynamics and conversations. He's careful not to step on any toes, which takes a bit of subtle observation first--fortunately enough, he's quick to read the room, and knows how to navigate the social landscape from there. Formal situations are where he starts getting a bit out of his element, given the additional rules and etiquette necessary for such things, but he can still perform admirably despite his uncertainty. Really, he'd be a perfect second in command, but he lacks some of the personal initiative needed to make him a truly exceptional leader.
Solai is a loyal, even-tempered individual, but his high standards mean that he can be a bit hard to please. He takes a fine-toothed comb to both his own work and that of those around him, and he's quick to criticize himself--he uses much softer language when going over someone else's contributions, but he spares himself the sugarcoating. Although Solai doesn't like to immediately jump to conclusions, he's hard to shake once he's come to whatever decision he's set himself to, and it can be difficult to persuade him to another side. He'd argue that it means he's hard to distract, but it's just as easy to claim that it makes him somewhat of a pain to deal with if he's decided to be contrary.

Positive Trait List: Confident, dedicated, team player, mindful.
Negative Trait List: Nitpicky, stern, stubborn, impatient.

History:
The first son of a Smith and a wher-handling Minecrafter, Solai grew up in a world of rock and metal. He was born in Crom Hold, and stayed there for most of his early life, finding himself well-suited to the mountains in spite of the isolation they provided. From a young age, he was just as fascinated with his parents' crafts as they were, and quickly made up his mind to follow in his father's footsteps as a miner himself. He was always watching them work, trying to reenact their techniques in his spare time--it didn't take long for his parents to decide that they should find the boy a position as an apprentice, and soon enough, he was officially part of the Minecraft Hall. He took to it like a fish to water, and although he wasn't quite as popular as he would have liked due to being something of a teacher's pet, was well on the path to making a good life for himself as a miner.
Eventually, though, the less than savory nature of Crom's alliance with Nabol started to rear its ugly head, and his family began to plan for a way out. With a new baby sister in tow, they wanted to find somewhere safer to call home, not to mention their unspoken desire to get out before Crom could get as bad as Nabol was. The return of Thread was more motivation to get somewhere less isolated, but it was decided that they'd wait until Solai was finished with his apprenticeship to make any hard decisions. In spite of all this, Solai walked the tables at eighteen, and becoming a Journeyman was one of the proudest moments of his life. It looked as though things were going well, and he was rather optimistic about his future--perhaps mining wasn't the most glamorous work out there, but it was painfully necessary, and he was happy to contribute to Pern's future. His family threw him a small party in celebration of his success, and he was all too ready to begin the rest of his life from there.

However, things went a little differently.
A few weeks later, Solai was Searched to High Reaches, agreeing to go more out of a sense of duty than a deep desire to be a dragonrider--in his eyes, it was more about following protocol and paying proper respects to the weyr, but he quickly found himself getting a bit starstruck by the idea. Lofty dreams aside, going to High Reaches would give him an excellent opportunity to study the Weyr's structure, and that was enough to give him a more practical reason to go. Still, it was all only a fantasy though, right? Nothing to get so caught up in that he lost sight of his goals; just something he was currently doing, that's all. He just wasn't the dragonriding type, even if that rider had told him he had potential. He'd be a miner like his father, and he was okay with that.
When it came time for Killakeeth's hatching, he willingly participated in the candidate transfer to Western, curious to see what their climate was like after a life spent in far colder mountains. Although it took some time to acclimate to the tropical heat, Solai found himself to be quite fond of Western, agreeing readily with their merit-based ideas--he almost wondered if this was a better fit for him than High Reaches until he caught himself.
Almost immediately after, something else caught him.
A little hatchling, long since having made up his mind, knew exactly which candidate he wanted. He found Solai with no difficulty whatsoever, slipping through the crowd so quietly as to evade notice--even His didn't know for sure that he was there until he crept up from behind, gently placing his nose in Solai's hand. He'd never expected to Impress, but here he was on the Sands with a dragonet telling him he'd done just that.

From there, the pair progressed through weyrling training with the rest of their class, working hard to earn their place in one of Western's wings. Solai's parents were immensely proud of him, and he still does everything he can to stay in contact with them despite the distance separating them.

Other: He thinks whers are adorable, and was a little bit nervous about heights up until flight lessons made him get over that. Has a fear of birds.

DRAGON
Name: Javath (note--this name is absolutely open to being changed! it's just here to help me distinguish who i'm writing about ; v;a)
Color: Blue
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Y!
Personality:
Cryptic, secretive, and mercurial, Javath is a dragon of few words and many shifting opinions. He prefers to watch and wait before making any move, and is decidedly slow to act--when he does, however, he responds quickly and confidently, with no room for second-guessing himself. Javath keeps all of his observations and secrets very tightly to his chest, and while you can be sure that he's always watching, he doesn't have any intention of spreading what he's seen to anyone you'd know. It's not that he's planning on hatching some malicious scheme or anything--Javath simply likes keeping tabs on others, considering it on the same level as birdwatching. People are curious things, and he enjoys seeing their reactions to day-to-day events, even more so if there's something unexpected involved. If he's bored enough, Javath has been known to be the unexpected thing, poking and prodding where he can just to mix it up a little. It's never meant as an insult or genuine slight, and he has a hard time understanding when other people have been truly upset by his actions. Why would they be mad at him? He was only breaking the monotony--perhaps you're in a bad mood, but now things are less boring, aren't they?
That being said, it's not terribly surprising that Javath isn't a very popular dragon. For all his peoplewatching, he's socially inept all the same, and tends to see the world in a bit more of a logical light. He acts based on what he thinks is best, which leads to him often ignoring or misunderstanding the feelings of others; he uses his many observations of those around him to guide his plans, and allows little room for other viewpoints. Javath is convinced that he's quite impartial, thank you, and doesn't need to be swayed by anyone--so don't bother telling him your side of the story. He's highly opinionated in spite of his relative silence, and once he's leveled his judgment, it's final. Once he's made up his mind on someone, it's hard to change it; in the case of his high praise, this means for a stalwart ally, but not so much for the inverse. Fortunately enough, he's slow to make his final verdict, although he's certainly quick to judge others until then.

At his best, Javath is perceptive, dedicated, confident, and quick-witted--while he's not as skilled with words as he thinks he is, he's also a rather constant presence for those he loves. He's supportive in subtle ways, and ardently refuses to make a grand show of it. Javath never wants to be the center of attention, and is more than happy to deflect it elsewhere--for example, to the nearest person he admires. He maintains a very tight social circle of close confidants, and Javath sees no issue with providing these few individuals with as much affection and care as is possible. He'll bend over backwards for them, and expects little in return--he doesn't like being on the receiving end of excessive amounts of attention, and would much prefer to simply be privately recognized for his favors.

Size: Medium
Physical Attributes:
Javath is a lean, svelte dragon with overall rather even proportions, save for his legs--they're just a bit short, giving him a somewhat compacted appearance. His head is long and slender, and his fangs are just long enough to show even when his mouth is closed. His tail is much more bony than the rest of him, however, especially near the tip.
Additional Notes: Javath is strongly interested in other males, and basically has zero interest for Greens and Golds. They're nice to look at, sure, but his affectations are mainly with Bronzes, although the occasional Brown or Blue can make their way into this circle. His favorite color to look at is, unsurprisingly, his own, and he's Solai's number one bird wrangler should the need arise.

Why Me:
Solai is an industrious, hard-working young man with a dedication to order and not rocking the boat--he's got so much potential as a perfect partner, and Javath knows exactly how to bring that all out. He doesn't want to change him completely, though; if he did, he simply would have picked someone else. Solai is perfect how he is, although Javath would love it if he'd be a little less subservient sometimes. Fortunately enough, that's what he's here for. Javath's strong opinions and fast thinking serve to make Solai pick up the pace when it's needed, and in return, Solai balances out his dragon's sharper edges. He's the restraint to Javath's more socially disastrous tendencies, and the calm edge of understanding and compassion to help his dragon better navigate dealing with others. They're just different enough to compliment each other, and Javath knew that Solai was going to be His from the moment he touched his shell.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training?
Solai kept his nose to the grindstone and worked his a** off. It's what he does best, and he certainly wasn't about to start shirking his work ethic just because he'd gotten a dragon--Javath served more to motivate him to work harder than anything else, now fueled by a desire to be someone deserving of being a dragonrider rather than just someone lucky enough to Impress. Javath stayed as far out of the spotlight as was physically possible, and save for some remedial lessons to help keep him at the same speed as the rest of his class, he maintained a position well in the middle of the pack. They did well overall, save for the occasional rough patch, and made sure that they'd earn their keep in the process.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sisters?
Solai's simply of the opinion that they all got quite lucky--more dragons means more candidates leaving the Sands happy, right? Sure, trying to keep track of all of them when they were out and about during the Hatching was a bit overwhelming, but he was more impressed that so many of those eggs held multiple dragons than anything. He's still not sure how exactly some of them fit in there.
Javath acknowledges his Gold siblings for what they are, but isn't starstruck by their hide; they're dragons just like him, and with the hierarchy of Western how it is, their contributions matter more than how much they glitter. He's more fond of Kleoth between the two of them. given her lack of those more colorist notions, but Leoth certainly does have her moments.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle?
Javath is particularly comfortable with Betweening, but it took a lot more effort for him to get off the ground--he well and truly wanted to, of course, even if his luck was quite set on making sure he didn't. Short legs unfortunately don't give a lot of lift for getting off the ground, as he learned.
Solai had to learn quite quickly to be comfortable with being in the air as opposed to being in the mines, but once he got over the initial gut-wrenching from takeoff, he found that he actually quite liked flying. Being up in the air with Javath isn't anything like he could have dreamed; he'd never thought of putting himself up on a dragon of all things, and it's better than whatever he might have imagined when he was younger.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider?
Solai still thinks it's a dream. Rather than working below the surface of Pern, here he is, soaring high above it on his own dragon--it's a bit unreal, even though Javath assures him that he's not going anywhere. He's taken to the structure of a rider's life quite well, and although he's still proud of his previous work, he's quite firmly shifted gears toward being the best rider he can be. Javath is all too happy to encourage this, and together, they make for a strongly focused pair.

Age: 25
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Runner Trainer (Not Hall Trained)
Physical Description: T’shim is tall and lean. While muscular enough, in a Weyr full of big, beefy riders he almost looks snappable with his more endomorphic build. He keeps his dirty blond hair trimmed short and has warm, brown eyes, with a gently featured face that keeps him looking rather young for his age.
Personality: T’shim is a rather contradictory character - he’d claim himself uncompetitive in a heartbeat, but those who allow themselves to hang around the unflinchingly blunt young man would find it quickly obvious that he’s exceedingly competitive. To the point of allowing it to dampen his spirits and then coming in with a blanket of smarm, sass, and blunt judgment aimed outwards to hide that all up. When grouped with people who naturally stand out, he’s simply uneager to have to put himself out there and fall short. Just one success isn’t worth the risk, but still he wants that one success. Then two. Then three. Brick, by brick to build into something.

That he generally doesn’t like spending time around his fellows doesn’t help his case much, having to be goaded into most activities. Of course, a sheer sense of requirement usually is all it takes - and then it is full on smarm to defend himself from any judgment or questions aimed his way.

It really is hard to peg where T’shim got it in his head that he’d fall short of the herd - he’s handsome enough (even before impressing), he’s smart, he’s quick to adapt, and he’s no slouch when it comes to physical tasks either. One would easily say he’s talented enough to keep up with those he so obviously begins to place on pedestals of being ‘special’. If he were to put his efforts to it more openly - or supported into it more openly - the sky would really be the limit for T’shim.

While having no aspirations of greatness - perhaps a Wingsecond, at best - T’shim does have the qualities of a future leader in a very, very rough form. He is steady and dependable, thanks to his natural adaptability, and despite his smarmy attitude is incredibly patient. He does have patience enough to teach if one is willing to mire through his myriad of bad traits, though one should expect some judgment and perhaps a little commentary.

Positive Trait List Smart, Adaptable, Steady, Patient
Negative Trait List Smarmy, Contradictory, Insecure, Competitive, Aloof, Judgy
History: Before being Searched, Tyshim helped his mother in her craft in training Runners. While he had no ideas of going off to the Hall himself, she had been Hall Trained and really, Tyshim was content to learn all he could from the single constant in his life. When it came to that absent father, he was mostly never mentioned. All he knew was that Flights Happened and it was rather clinical beyond that.

When he was 8, his mother married a widowed man with several young children who also happened to work with runners and Tyshim found himself with several younger step-siblings that he wasn’t exactly prepared for. While scuffling was imminent, the hierarchy of sibling-power was soon enough established and it was, really, a happy enough family for their unusual arrangement. Things were good enough.

Until the Old Man showed up on his dragon during Search shortly after First Fall - initially sniffing out his step-siblings and sussing that the youngest boy, barely 16 and getting ready to head off to the Runner Hall to take up the proper training that Tyshim had passed up on, would be a fine candidate. While there was no way to force him to make a choice either way, there was obvious pressure. Pressure from a rider and dragon looming and waiting over an indecisive and eager to please boy. Tyshim set himself and one of the Runners between the group to take the pressure off - and for the first time was given his own evaluation.

When his mother came out to see what the fuss was about, several dots were connected and he nearly turned down everything on the spot out of sheer reactionary pride. However, with some gentle prodding from his mother to reconsider his position, Tyshim would ultimately go. The future he was already on would still be available if he chose to come back to it….and somehow his deciding to go allowed his stepbrother to decide not to.

It would still be several turns before a dragon would come to him, ignoring the drama on the sands between their sulking father and their siblings who were being upset by it. They ventured through the candidates, back, back, to where Tyshim had kept himself relatively out of the way and safe from any claws and teeth - of which there had been plenty already.

Tyshim! Why the long face? Is it because my Papa is being a downer? Well your ??? isn’t a downer so you can put on a happier face now, right? little rainbow eyes looked up at him entreatingly, hoping this was the solution to all of his problems.

And they sort of were.

Other: T’shim wore glasses until he impressed.

DRAGON
Name: ???
Color: ???
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Yes (tho open to all colors from the get go lmao)
Personality
Those who let every little thing get to them never get far in life, and ??? is up to any challenge thrown their way! While the little things do nudge underneath their skin and ??? is prone to exaggerate how mean words and scuffles went down to play up the victim card a little bit, ??? takes negativity as a motivator to push forward and in fact seems to do their best when they are doing it out of spite. Ask them to do something impossible even in the most sarcastic or condescending way and ??? may just be the dragon to make it happen out of sheer will.

A social butterfly, ??? isn’t deterred by nasty personalities and is easily the sort who will be breaking the ice when meeting strangers. They’ll bound right into other dragon’s games - or if the kids of the creche will have them, they’ll bound right into those too! It will never be hard for ??? to make friends - even to those resistant to the idea. ??? is stubbornly determined in many ways - to prove their worth, to do the cool things another dragon may be able to pull off (even if their color shouldn’t allow for it), to do things better, harder, faster than last time. To say they’re competitive wouldn’t be an exaggeration either.

While not the smartest - and in fact will always be at best a little on the daft side of things - ??? is an eager dragon which can, unfortunately, lead to some serious hyperfocus when it comes to tasks such as drills and even flaming clumps of Thread. ??? will be prone to crashing into other dragons if not kept in line - or even flaming them during Threadfall! Simply, ??? is a potential disaster in the making if someone isn’t ready to come and keep them from diving right into the fire.

Size: Extra Small
Physical Attributes:
???th may be a bitty little beast, but for their color they will always stand out as being nimble and athletic and lean rather than strong.

Additional Notes:
???th tends to flame in surprisingly quick bursts and will go through firestone quickly unless paced - and will also be prone to biting their own tongue. A lot.

They’ll always be up for a good flight, though if particularly interested they may hyperfocus - and crash into other dragons in the air because they simply forgot they weren’t the only one in the sky.

??? plays fetch - though it is much harder as a full grown dragon to find something to appropriately ‘fetch’.

Why Me:
Tyshim! No more hiding! Come out! Come be with everybody else! ??? could have easily picked someone as high energy and as much of a social animal as they are, but who would have spent time with the aloof and distant young man if they had? ??? is too sunny and determined to be put off by even the worst of Tyshim’s moods and with a little bit of elbow grease surely they can get him to stop hiding all of that talent away! ??? wants to be talented too, after all!

Tyshim’s adaptability and quick mind will allow him to keep up with ??? even when they’re being unpredictable and his cooler head will help temper ???’s hyperfocus. He also has what it takes to keep them from disastrously crashing and burning in critical moments.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training? Woah, nelly! ??? wanted to be the first to try everything in every new lesson and had a tendency to sulk when told ‘no’. There were definitely a few near accidents on ???’s part, but T’shim quickly got the reigns over his lifemate and did swimmingly in keeping them from turning into major fires.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister? Jealousy! There could have been TWO of ???! ??? wants to have a double! But they do get to be cool and say they have TWO gold sisters! How many other dragons get to say that??

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle? Flying came easily, landing did not. Learning to pace their stamina was something T’shim had to wrangle quickly as well and still fights ??? on all the time. Between was a less risky piece of business, ironically, as T’shim found leaning ???s hyperfocus into coordinates and giving them praise for success made for a relatively smooth ordeal.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider? T’shim is trying to not befriend his entire wing, despite ???s insistence that they are all the most best of friends and T’SHIM THEY’RE GOING OUT TO BLACK SANDS ARE YOU GONNA COME TOO LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOO. Overall, T’shim likes having more self-directed time.

What is your dragon color preference?: Bronze, brown, blue, green
If you roll a bronze, which profile gets the win? Aquiel
If you roll a brown, which profile gets the win? Him
If you roll a blue, which profile gets the win? The boy
If you roll a green, which profile gets the win? Named Aquiel

Name:Aquiel
Age: 30
Sex:Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Woodcrafter
Physical Description:

Aquiel is a very, very large man. The sheerness out of height and strength are easily the most recognizable thing about him. He’s rippling with strength, and takes great pride in it. Woodcrafting is a physically demanding job, exercising often with heavy boughs just to push himself. He continues as much as he can living at Western, swimming suits him just fine! Aquiel has a mop of long, slightly wavy red hair. It goes down to the middle of his back, and is pulled into a low ponytail. His facial hair matches, bright red and terribly soft. He lets it grow to frame his chin, but keeps under his nose clean shaven.

Aquiel is pale skinned and covered in tattoos. His chest and arms are full of patterns he finds interesting. There’s a symbol inked onto the left of his face, one that an artisan just thought would look particularly pleasing upon him. He doesn’t mind it! He probably has at least 14 more ideas of shapes and designs to be put upon his skin, bearing he doesn’t run out of space.

Aquiel loves wearing fur lined things, but western doesn’t exactly have the best climate for it. He’s mostly seen in loose fitting clothes, he’s particularly fond of the color blue.

Personality: Aquiel is first and foremost as much of a loner as weyrlife allows. He needs his space, spending too much time with others leads him to becoming irritable. He needs to fill his time with his personal (solo) pursuits, hobbies, and interests rather than filling his time with those he must spend time with on the daily. He needs this time to recharge to be at the top of his game, and has very little patience for anyone becoming too clingy. His favorite form of spending time with someone is ‘companionable silence’.

Aquiel is a resilient, hardy beast. One must be if they’ve been climbing trees all day or moving heavy logs like all woodcrafters. He isn’t intimidated by hardwork and rarely becomes stressed because of this. He works through his issues, preferring laboring away his worried thoughts to sleep soundly at night. If he can’t sweat the problem out - it must not be that much of a big deal to begin with! This doesn’t make him a placid individual. He is a fair bit… cantankerous. He isn’t looking for conflict, but when it comes to him Aquiel has no issues standing up for himself. If he feels immensely insulted, he gets aggressively defensive. He has no issue asserting personal boundaries, usually by throwing his weight around. He isn’t so cunning and silvertongued to argue with someone, but he’s strong and broad, and prefers to posture in an intimidating portrait in these situations. He’s a confident one! He isn’t intimidated easily and rolls with the punches of life. He bounces back from stress easily. This makes Aquiel feel secure about his place in life, without needing to worry about rank or status.

He hates showing any sort of weakness. He’s a rather guarded individual, and keeps his sensitive emotions clutched tight to his chest. Aquiel says very little about his social life, and prying about it is the easiest way to get under his skin. He’s a bristly one! He doesn’t want attention on himself, he feels exposed and vulnerable when too many eyes are on him. He hates being disrespected, and feels letting people know too much, gives them fodder for such a thing. While he doesn’t say his more tender emotions aloud, its very easy to read on how he carries himself: warmer smiles, carrying himself more relaxed. Aquiel is easy to read, if you happen to know how.

Aquiel is an expressive individual (when he isn’t feeling vulnerable). If something bothers him, he doesn’t bottle it up. He’s direct and and concise when it comes to communicating ideas. If He’s transparent, his body language always clueing you in to whats on his mind. He doesn’t beat around the bush, and he’s known for always telling the truth. He isn’t the most concerned with tact, and sometimes isn’t the most gentle getting a point across. Sugarcoating things just wastes time in his mind.

For all of his gruffness, Aquiel is an indulgent creature. He enjoys doing things for the simple reason that it makes him happy. He doesn’t have the best self-discipline, preferring to spend his extra time relaxing. It’s always an ordeal, the finest comfiest clothing - the tastiest of wines - after all he deserves it. He enjoys being wonderfully hedonistic, he works hard when he isn’t! If it makes him seem lazy to other people, that’s their problem. He likes enjoying the good life!

Positive Trait List Resilient, Confident, Expressive
Negative Trait List Blunt, Guarded, Loner

History:Aquiel didn’t start his life being such an outdoorsman. He was born the heir of a cothold closer to High Reaches than western. Most of his childhood was being taught by his father, learning the ways to care for a cothold alongside his younger brother, and entertaining his slightly airheaded baby sister.

He wasn’t particularly impressed by his childhood. He received no formal education. Sre he can read, right, and not make a mess out of numbers - but it was instilled in his heard from day one he’d be a cotholder just like a his father. Aquiel didn’t quite like what went on behind the scenes, he had a baby sister who was being raised as a lapdog who wasn’t allowed to worry about anything except marrying well - and a younger brother who was treated as second best - in case anything went ‘wrong’ with Aquiel being first born.

With too much emphasis being put on needing to marry to whom his father chose and having children - Aquiel left. He felt quite too young to worry about such things, and felt frustrated and constrained by his family’s way of life. Telling his siblings a terse goodbye, and paid his way onto a caravan and set off. Worrying privately, if this just sealed his younger brother’s fate.

Woodcrafting seemed secluded - it was working outdoors (and he loves fresh air) - and a good play to his strengths. He worked diligently as an apprentice, never breathing a word of who he was or where he came from. When he was searched, Aquiel wasn’t sure quite how to respond, at his mentor’s encouragement, he agreed. Afterall, it was worth the try wasn’t it? There was always a place for him at the hall if it didn’t stick.

A few turns, swaps, and candidate lessons later he stood at Western for a the rambunctious clutch. ‘Meowth’ was a scaredy little thing, cowering every time his parents began to fight. Aquiel soon had the little dragon bowling him over by trying to hide behind his legs, the little thing was nearly gray with fright. The most important day of their life full of claws. His parents sounded so.. So angry. Weren’t they happy to see them?

Aquiel please.. I haven’t done anything wrong have I? Are you at least happy to see yours? Such a sweet, scared thing, Aquiel’s guarded heart immediately melted. The small dragon was no match for Aquiel’s strength. They were embraced immediately, held tight against his chest.

Other: Since impression Aquiel has a bit easier of a time expressing his more guarded feelings. He had to learn gentleness from this dragon, that he would not have had.

DRAGON
Name: “Meowth”
Color: ??? if you decide to write specifically for a certain color, you may list it, but be sure to answer the next question on whether or not that color/sex can change based on rolls!
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Y
Personality [he/him used for simplicity sake will change if necessary!]

Meowth is a sweet, agreeable dragon. He has a love for all living things, enjoying watching plants grow in the springtime. He loves to carry blooms around in his mouth (much harder to do once he is full grown) just for an adorable present for Aquiel who needs more beauty in his life. Meowth enjoys the company of more gentlehearted dragons, finding comfort in them especially if they are one of his siblings. He seeks lower energy friends with with calm dispositions.

Meowth has a lot of trouble voicing their opinions. Their softly voiced words are usually lost conversations, and he makes little effort to repeat himself. If someone wanted to hear him they would have stopped to listen… right? Aquiel needs to encourage him to speak up. He ends up following whoever’s orders that makes the most sense ...even if his own idea was much better.

Meowth is sensitive nearly to a fault. They whine and whimper when they get upset and when angry, unable to control their tone. They feel rude remarks last for days, feeling it with all of their heart until they can be cheered again. A promised adventure somewhere fun, a walk on the beach, are usually enough to cheer them. When they feel joy - it shines like the sun - and has Aquiel smiling right alone with him.

Meowth isn’t the most daring, or brave of dragons. Conflict feels terrifying. He will keep his head out of it thank you very much! He prefers to let Aquiel handle those sorts of things. He does however crave adventure. He is always intrigued by those coming and going out the Weyr, craving for the day he can go far off places and see everything there is to see. And what lovely company he may meet!

Size: Itty bitty for their color
Physical Attributes: Meowth is dainty, even for their color. Everything about them is slight. Their headknobs are small and rounded. Their head is a delicate swoop with a slightly rounded nose. Their legs are short, tripping over their long tail from time to time. Their wings are adorably large for their body, bunching at their shoulders.
Additional Notes: [If Male] Meowth is a feminine dragon, and prefers being addressed as such. Meowth enjoys gifts that reflect such a more green-oriented nature. Things that are beautiful or full of fun colors.

Flights and/or Chase to Meowth are a horrendous way to find a partner. They don’t want to be paired to someone who wants nothing of romance or doesn’t have their best interest at hearts. They become very, very stressed at Flight/Chase time - and isn’t one to share a ledge after a romantic evening.

Why Me: Meowth was looking for a stalwart protector and Aquiel seemed the strongest, most genuine soul on the sands to them. Meowth doesn’t have to worry if someone’s angry with them - not only can he read Aquiel’s heart - but know without a doubt that their words are always honest. Aquiel has learned to be gentler with his words, knowing that his dragon is sensitive, and that perhaps a little kindness never hurt anyone. Meowth pulls from Aquiel’s confidence, knowing that there is someone out there who always has their back. They both have an undercurrent of worry - that they might have the worst traits of their family. It’s a strange bond to share, but if they hold each other accountable, and support one another they need not to worry about such a silly fear. Aquiel’s appreciation for the finer, relaxing things in life help Meowth to remember to stop and smell the roses.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training? Quietly determined. Aquiel wanted was determined to get things done the right way, and payed very close attention to everything that was being taught. Meowth was always keen on practice. They couldn’t make fools out of themselves, thank you very much!

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister? Exciting! Fun! More siblings! Aquiel thinks its an symbol that all this clutch will be lucky.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle? They weren’t naturals, so much as a paid attention and practiced as often as allowed. They took these lessons extremely seriously. Aquiel’s precise and blunt way of thinking is apparently fantastic for picturing where to Between.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider? A bit incredulously. This isn’t where Aquiel imagined his life, at all. He expected to never impress, and going back to his crafthall. He sends letters to his old mentor every now and again, still with a strange sense of pride. Meowth is excited to toast so much thread.

What is your dragon color preference?: Bronze, Brown, Blue, Green
If you roll a bronze, which profile gets the win? Zexear
If you roll a brown, which profile gets the win? Zexear
If you roll a blue, which profile gets the win? Zexear
If you roll a green, which profile gets the win? Zexear

Name: Zexear
Age: 24 (3552.04.27)
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: ???
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Glasscraft Journeyman (Blown Glass Maker)
Physical Description: A solid man, Zexear stands on the taller side. Broad shoulders that taper into thick, richly tanned muscles and laced with the occasional burn or scar. His head is a shock of rich, dark hair, falling past his shoulders like a wavy waterfall - though it’s mostly pulled back off his neck. His eyes are a rich medium brown, like warm earth beneath the sun. Zexear’s choice in clothing is rather plain, sticking to more practical designs than anything extravagant. There’s a good-sized score up Zexear’s left leg, a reminder of a botched move during their first fight with thread.
Personality: Best foot forward and a winning smile, every day that Zexear starts will always be giving his best. This artist will always give his best, no matter what’s going on around him or the world wants to crash around his ears. Life is an adventure, and no matter what Zexear is always prepared for it. From trying some new tea to exploring some little sandbar coast island his dragon can barely land on -- it doesn’t take much to sell Zex on something new to try out of life. In fact, he looks forward to it while chucking caution to the wind eagerly. How else can you get those little quirks of life if you don’t put yourself out there? He does so with a limitless energy, as it helps the constant spring of his mind and body settle down some. Ever since he was younger, Zexear has always had a near limitless stream of energy that he was told would temper with age and maturity….. Nah. He’s got better things to do than that! It does leave him restless; legs bouncing, fingers itching and drumming-- eager to do something, especially when boredom hits hard. Growing up, he’s learned tricks and games, or sometimes just straight exercise to burn that energy off. But sometimes when he has to sit still, has to focus? It can be hard.

This artist is a creative soul, deep down. It helps when he does personal projects with glass, crafting elegant dragons and firelizards or fancy cups and pitchers with adornments. In his quest to find ways to rein in his tide of energy, he’s come up with quite good goals and games -- little quests and objectives to reach. Zexear embraces life with open arms, eager to experience new things, see new sights -- anything that might help give him a boost in his expressions and work. It helps him to see the potential in everything, that no matter if something ends up horrible -- it can always be saved. While he’s always open and able to try and fix things, Zex can be rather hard on himself after the fact. No matter if it’s his glasswork, how a drill or a fall goes, or even just a social interaction that went a bit awry -- Zexear is critical of himself and how he could have done better. By no means is he a perfectionist -- far from it, for what in life is ever truly perfect? But he tries to find the flaws and weak points in whatever had failed, to learn from mistakes and grow from them, even if he’s apologizing for it for weeks after the fact.

True to his nature, Zexear is a very transparent person. What you see is what you get, for there is no hidden agenda, no minced words. He wears his heart on his sleeve and his eyes wide and expressive. Compliments roll off his tongue from the pits of his being, for he honestly means every sweet word that may come out; however, the same goes for every awful word as well. There’s little to no filter on Zexear, and if someone asks his honest opinion on something he finds awful, he’ll say so. Not that he won’t feel awful after he’s hurt someone’s feelings, and will kick himself about it for weeks after the fact. But he lacks a certain gracious air about him, when he can’t quite shut his mouth fast enough to stop a harsh critique.
Positive Trait List: Creative, Adventurous, Genuine
Negative Trait List: Self-critical, Energetic, Tactless
History: Born in the rich spring of Ista Hold to a pair of happy parents, Zexear was the second of four children. It was a happy childhood growing up -- latching onto his older sibling, while at the same time growing into the figure his younger siblings could latch onto as well. His parents, both glasscrafters respectively, were both eager and delighted when, as Zexear approached his 11th nameday, he asked if he might be able to learn the family trade. Though neither of their specific craft specializations -- for his mother was a ceramics maker while his father was a lenscrafter -- it wouldn't be until he apprenticed under a man named Jikinar that he fell in love with blown glass and the beauty of the different shapes. His love of the craft made him an eager learner, and he soaked up anything and everything Jikinar had to say and teach.

At the age of 17, Zexear was able to walk the tables as a journeyman, and was the shining moment for him. He received a flit egg from Jikinar, hatching into his darling Heiress -- a means of communication. He would strike out on his own -- to hone and sharpen his skills on the long journey of perfecting his craft.

Yet it wasn't long until disaster struck -- thread had returned. It brought a hard line of fatality, as suddenly his quiet life he'd planned out was disrupted by the uncertainty that came with the spores. Zexear would soldier on, for though the world was suddenly filled with more uncertainty, more fear -- he couldn't just very well stop loving his life, now, could he?

He was around 22 when his life would suddenly give a sudden switch, as a searchrider had found him -- a sweet woman from Western. Zexear had been all but excited to accept, writing to his family (and to Jikinar) of his life's sudden change in direction.

Yet it would be a few hatchings that he stood for, it would be quite a special hatching he'd stood for that would end up being fortuitous for Zexear. Drama on the sands, between multiple hatchings and even the brown sire had his eyes roving -- for babies were always going to be babies, and it was all Zexear could do to keep his mind on happy, welcoming thoughts and leave his opinions to pick back up at the sands entrance. Multiple sets of twins born to Killakeeth, yet there was only one dragon who caught his eye. [They] were practically regal, even for being fresh from the shell. Head held high, even for one so small, as [they] watched some of [their] clutchmates squabble.

I wish I could help them. A wistful thought that breezed through Zexear's mind, as he found himself agreeing. [Their] head turned to watch his siblings, glancing up at [their] clutchfather, before turning to look at Zexear once more, only this time, there were rainbows in [their] eyes. Alas, I cannot -- but have heart, dear Zexear, your [???] has faith all will be well.

It would seal their bond tight, with Zexear bewildered that this little cutie never disappeared when he closed his eyes. Though they finally reached the precipice of adulthood together and crossed over, they both stand eager to defend both their home at Western and the people of Pern as well.
Other: He’s got the one firelizard, but Zex wants an entire cloud of them someday. One day.

DRAGON
Name: ???
Color: ??? if you decide to write specifically for a certain color, you may list it, but be sure to answer the next question on whether or not that color/sex can change based on rolls!
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Yes
Personality Steady as the oldest rivers, as reliable as the sun setting and the moons rising, [???] is a reliable sort of dragon. [???] make steps to make anyone who seeks [their] company to feel at ease, that [they] may always be a confidant to those who may need it -- be it clutch siblings, wingmates, or any who might seek [them]. Every motion [they] make, from every step to every word spoken is taken with careful measure. [???] is not the sort to be wasteful in energy nor words -- and there was a time when [they] were younger that it drew the worry that [their] energy was low. However, it’s merely just how [???] is -- steady and slow to the beat of [their] own drum. Patience runs through [them] in spades, for [they] are prone to plans and have no trouble waiting as long as something may take. Wide wings and a calm mind keep [them] on the narrow path of the future -- for [they] crave things. A fine view, a mate to love. The dragon of [their] desires, of [their] dreams, and never minding if it takes actual turns to see fruition of slow flirts and careful moves. The woes of [???]’s hearts if [they] are not to the speed of the dragon [their] hearts have been set upon!

However, [???] isn’t an antisocial dragon -- far from it, in fact. Quiet conversation is where [they] thrive, or even just listening to some dragon’s long-winded ranting. [They] prefer more gentler conversations, for there is never heat or fire in [???]’s hearts or mind while on the ground. Confrontation isn’t in [???]’s hearts, for if there is conflict or anger, [they] tend to stay rather demure. A fight isn’t worth much of anything, apart from the one against thread.
Size: Extra large
Physical Attributes: From the shell, [???] has always been large -- and that hasn’t let up even into adulthood. [They] have a broad carriage, toned muscled leading into large, wide fans of [their] wings. [Small tweaks about headknobs, ridges, etc depending on theme] [Their] blooding wasn’t kind to the dragon, as a large threadscore laces up [their] left forearm, across [their] chest, and up the shoulder.
Additional Notes: [???]'s flame is practiced and sharp, a column of fire that burns hot and bright -- even if it is not very long.

[If Bronze/Brown: [???] flies like an arrow, true and focused. Any gold that may catch his attention will have an attentive and honest chaser. [If Blue:] Greenflights will be of more picky taste, for though he is a romantic soul at heart, [???] will usually not chase unless there is personal feelings involved; he simply doesn't have the energy to expend.]
[If Green: Flights are a finicky thing for [???], for her drive to fly will be at war with her desire to not have so many eyes on her. Were it easier to expend her energy on chasing instead of rising, it would make everything all the better. As such, with a multitude of complicated emotions and [???]'s careful metering of her energy, she will only rise, never chase. Flights will be few and far between, and a wild expense of emotion and energy.]

However, should love come into [???]'s life, [they] will find it easier to stay focused. A whole of attention to focus down onto a beloved, though flights may still send things into upheaval with their unknown factors. [They] desire nothing but a romance soft and sweet for [their] tender hearts.

Why Me: If [???] is the river, ever steady and faithful, Zexear is the unpredictable wind above [them]. Opposite in every way, they compliment each other in their balances. [???]’s steady, slow nature helps to temper Zexear’s boundless energy, grounding [their] rider when he seems about ready to fly away without [them]. Likewise, Zexear is the breath of fresh air that [???] sometimes needs to be reminded to take, that there is some spontaneity to life and sometimes unpredictability can be fun. [???] adores how their rider can keep them on their toes, and the honest nature of Zexear.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training? Though they had to lean on the other for support, both Zexear and [???] found drive and passion in weyrling lessons. Zexear found it all one grand adventure -- places to learn to visit, watching [???] get big and strong!

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister? So many twins! Zexear was a touch starry-eyed each time a twin egg hatched, and enamored by the twin golds as equally as the blue-green and bronze-brown. [???] adores their clutchmates, especially so of [their] sisters -- even if the drama at the hatching wasn’t quite to [their] style.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle? Though [???] is a low energy dragon, [they] had no problem with lessons, especially with flying -- though there was some concern about wing muscle strength early on. Zexear found a lot of motivation to help [???] exercise, to build muscle and tone so they could keep up with their siblings. At the beginning of between lessons, Zex struggled -- a lot, for his abundance of energy made it hard to concentrate. However, as practice went on, he grasped desperately to concentrate and found himself growing better with some help and focus.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider? Hype, hype, hyyyype. Though there’s pride at being fully-fledged riders defending their home and planet, Zexear is also just as excited to be able to explore in their free time, to see new sights and experience new things eagerly -- especially with [???] at his side.

What is your dragon color preference?: Bronze, brown, blue, green
If you roll a bronze, which profile gets the win? El'rix
If you roll a brown, which profile gets the win? El'rix
If you roll a blue, which profile gets the win? El'rix
If you roll a green, which profile gets the win? El'rix

Name: El'rix (Ellorix)
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: ???
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Harper
Physical Description: El'rix stands a solid 6'1" with broad shoulders, a trim waist, and generally handsome features. He has a broad, warm smile, and dark, wavy hair that falls well past his shoulders. His eyes are a bright blue, and usually filled to the brim with good humor and mirth. There's an easy-going nature that exudes off his very being. His waist is trim but fit, and it's clear he keeps himself in good shape.

Personality: Everything about El'rix is ease and affability. He's the sort of man who can usually get along with just about anyone, and will go out of his way to make sure those in his company feel welcome. He's the friend who will notice when someone seems to be quieter than usual, or is sticking to the sidelines; instead of leaving them be, he'll at least make an attempt to engage. On that same token, he'll be the first to check in on a friend who has fallen ill or injured, or try to touch base if it’s been some time. He’s not afraid of making an effort, even if his efforts are spurned. Overall, he tends to be a kind and considerate gentleman; he's not the sort to make a fuss if things don't go his way so long as the rest of his party is in good spirits.

Because he’s a non-confrontational sort, and because El’rix prefers to go with the flow, he can be considered a touch gullible. He tends to take things at face value, and isn’t the sort to question them. While this can make him a good follower, he runs the risk of being crafted into a yes-man, or at least, to take everyone’s side and support no one in the process. He’s a sympathetic listener, and instead of taking sides, winds up taking everyone’s instead. This has lead him to some rough patches with friends, but as far as El’rix is concerned, it’s all meant well.

True to character, El'rix has no trouble going with the flow--perhaps to his detriment. While he has an accepting nature--he’s not the sort to question what he’s being told by another, or to be suspicious and think of the worst--he can sometimes be too easy-going. While he won’t avoid confrontation entirely, El’rix isn’t the sort of man who is going to call someone out publicly. He probably won’t call someone out at all, particularly if he can find some justification or reason why he thinks they might have done something. As far as he sees the world, things work out as they should--and the amount of effort it might take to change the world is more than he has to spare. He is, unfortunately, a bit lazy. While he’s not necessarily an idle man, and can put forth effort as he needs to some cause--unless it’s a passion project, or something his friends, or someone he knows, wants him to do, he’d just as rather do nothing at all. If there’s an easier way to do something, El’rix will likely take it--even if the results might vary in success. There’s nothing wrong with good enough, right? Not everything needs to be done perfectly.

It’s that train of thought that has left El’rix more than a little aimless. While he eventually walked-the-tables, his Masters often grew frustrated with the young man’s ease. When perfection was demanded, El’rix often struggled to rise to the occasion. He could have been an extremely gifted Harper if only he’d put in the effort; instead, he is simply a decent-enough Harper. His skills as a rider are often the same; there is potential there to become something great… but unless his dragon pushes him, El’rix is more than happy to simply be passable in everything he does. He has no drive, no real dreams, and is often aimless. Impression has given him a bit of a goal--to fight Thread and stay alive--he really has no desire to become a Wingsecond or Wingleader; no real drive to become something great.

Positive Trait List Warm, Friendly, Accepting
Negative Trait List Gullible, Aimless, Too Easy-Going
History: Ellorix was born and raised in a small, beachside cothold on a small island of little consequence beholden to Black Sands. His mother was a kitchenworker woman of the hold, and his father a fisherman. The cothold was known primarily for its fishing, and its traditional views of the world; the men tended to work, while the woman-folk reared the children, watched the Aunties and Uncles, and generally kept the Hold running.. Ellorix, along with his brothers, was expected to learn to sail and fish but a tropical storm cut short such a future.

The storm was far worse than the starcrafter’s had predicted, and the island cothold was ruined. Many were killed from the storm surge, high winds, and devastation. Both his parents were killed, along with one of his sisters. So, at Turn eight, along with his remaining siblings, he was moved to Black Sands Hold proper, along with many of the Hold’s refugees. Black Sands was larger than any place he’d seen, and offered him opportunities he might not have otherwise had.

While fishing was still strongly encouraged, Ellorix found himself more interested in some of the other paths offered. While all the children were taught by the local Harpers, Ellorix picked up the child’s harp early, and enjoyed the lute as well. While some of his siblings romped on the beaches, he instead would play his music either indoors, or under the shade of the palm trees. With a decent singing voice, he was first sent to a small Harper Hall neart White Cliff, and when he proved competent and capable (if not in need of some motivation), was then sent via a green dragon to the official Harper Hall at Fort Weyr. While one couldn’t say he excelled--much to his Master’s frustration--he certainly did well.

At Turn 21, perhaps a little older than most, Ellorix finally was allowed to walk-the-tables. Though he would never be truly great, he did have a gift in at least doing his Master’s bidding, and was congenial and patient enough to at least get along with the most stubborn of sorts. He did have a knack for teaching, and could at least recite verse and song well enough to be of use to Holds in dire need of a Harper. So, for three turns, the Harper was sent around Pern doing exactly that.

It was during his time stationed at minor Hold, just outside Southern Boll Hold, that a most peculiar thing happened. A blue rider appeared, and requested his right to Search. Ellorix ushered the children out so the dragon might give them a look over. While most of them were too young, it was Ellorix that the rider approached. He was not from Fort or even High Reaches Weyr, but instead, was from Western… And with a clutch of eggs hardening on the Sands, wondered if he thought of standing?

Agreeable to the end, Ellorix decided it would make a good story--and his Hall would see him back, he was sure, should he fail to find a lifemate.

But he didn’t fail. In fact, Ellorix Impressed his very first Hatching--and has been rather enraptured ever since.

Other: Anything else you want to add?

DRAGON
Name: ???
Color: ???
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Y
Personality Nameth is a dragon who knows what he wants. In fact, this dragon hatched and spent hardly a moment before he pounced His and made sure El’rix knew he was claimed. This dragon isn’t the sort to second-guess and has no trouble making a move if the opportunity presents himself. He isn’t machiavellian--per say--but he certainly toes the line. When Nameth wants something, he’ll do whatever he has to do to achieve it… even if that means stomping on some hearts, or burning some bridges along the way.

To say he has ambition is an understatement. This dragon is well aware of his color, but is happy to have been hatched at Western Weyr. No matter what, he knows he can prove himself, and has every intention of pushing His until they’ve reached the stars. He’s a workhorse, and has little patience for those who aren’t ready to put in their equal share. While part of him does get a satisfaction in knowing that he’s reliable--and he is--another part of him can grow bitter knowing that others might be shirking their duties. He has little patience for his clutchmates who would prefer to idle away their days… Does he appreciate a rest day? Yes, he can… but only when there is no more work to be done. Should there be something outstanding that His has neglected, or if he was forced to leave work unfinished simply to relax or take time away, he will grow restless. Sometimes, when the stars align just right, Nameth can relax and play as hard as he works.

No one would mistake Nameth for being an overly friendly dragon. He’s certainly a bit more cool and aloof than his rider, and did not inherit the charm some of his other clutchmates. This isn’t to say he can’t be charming--he just prefers to spend such energy only on those who mean something to him (or, perhaps, in the heat of a flight). Mostly, though, he has little use for hearts--he has his eyes on rising up the ladder, and until he’s bit by the love-bug, probably won’t notice anyone fawning over him. Let his sisters and brothers play game-of-hearts, he really would prefer power instead.

Just give it time. Nameth knows he’ll get there, eventually.

Size: Extra Large
Physical Attributes: Nameth is a large dragon. He’s muscular, and heavy for his size because of it. This means he can be a bit of a slow and plodding beast on the ground, and even when first up in the air--but he makes up for it by sheer strength. His hindquarters are particularly thick, his shoulders broad, and he has teeth that are a bit longer than average; he’ll be prone to biting his tongue because of it. His wings are particularly broad, which allow him a good amount of time gliding when the winds are good. He cuts a very clear figure in the sky, but is not particularly quick on wing, because of it.

Additional Notes: Nameth can be quite passionate in the heat-of-the-moment when it comes to dragonflights. While he doesn’t chase often, when he does, he does with determination and fervor. He has the potential to break a few hearts by being unaware that those he catches might have deeper feelings… and while he is not intentionally cruel, he doesn’t usually feel regret when he returns to his ledge the next morning. It will take someone exceptional indeed to pin him down for good.

Why Me:
Ellorix and Nameth counter and compliment one another well. To start, Ellorix is in dire need of someone to help give him direction and purpose--and Nameth is that very dragon! Nameth has no intention of letting His simply take the easy path--he will push him up the ladder, no matter what it takes. On the flipside, Ellorix is the one being who can turn down Nameth’s passion to a simmer. Instead of becoming a workaholic with no focus but duty and a drive for power, Ellorix will force His to stop and savor the moment and to make time for relaxation and play. Where both Ellorix and Nameth are on opposite sides of the spectrums, they can often forge a middle-ground which will make them a competent and reliable pair.

Where Ellorix refrains from confrontation, Nameth is fearless. If Ellorix won’t stand up for himself, Nameth will; that said, if Nameth seems too machiavellian, Ellorix will make sure His remembers that others have feelings, too. Neither rider, nor dragon, will allow the other to fall into the deep end of their worst traits, and if they do, will pull them back to more middle ground. That doesn’t mean they won’t fight--because they can, and do--but they are able to help encourage the other to shine. Ellorix now has the potential to be great, even if his dragon is helping lift him to the top; and Nameth can find some polish and shine beneath his more aloof exterior.

These two were made for each other. When they are both focused on the same goal, there is nothing they can’t achieve.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training? El’rix and Nameth were generally good weyrlings. El’rix applied himself more than he did during his time at Harper Hall, primarily because Nameth was there to encourage him every step of the way. He also had spent very little time as a Candidate, so learning about dragon riding and life at the Weyr was absolutely fascinating to the young man. Nameth was always out there wanting to drill, drill, and drill and likely needed encouragement to play or relax. El’rix could usually draw him out to be more sociable, but Nameth tended to play it cool. That said, El’rix is old enough to know how to abide by rules, and followed Liat’s instruction when it came to Nameth’s health and well-being, and his fellows, to the letter.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister? El’rix was originally amazed, but then, he had very little time to learn about life at the Weyr, or what was considered ‘normal’ in a Hatching. He’d never heard of twin queen’s before, much less twin anything-else, but he certainly was charmed. That this hatching had not one, but two Queens was more than Impressive.

Nameth, for his part, was less impressed by his clutchmates. Certainly, Kleoth and Leoth were to be respected, but this dragon had little time to worry about hsi clutchmates when there was work to be done and drills to be had. To say his inter-personal relationships are weak is an understatement.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle? Nameth was a natural when it came to flight--though he struggled to take off simply due to his sheer bulk. Take offs are not easy for him unless he has a chance to fall off the ledge--leaping from the ground is a bit of a struggle and likely will be. But once he is air bound, Nameth is a fine looking dragon indeed.

Between lessons were where El’rix and Nameth struggled the most. Memorizing the various coordinates proved tricky for El’rix, and it was one of the few times he didn’t need Nameth’s goading to have him study, study, study.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider? El’rix is still enraptured with his new lot in life, and adores Nameth beyond words. He doesn’t yet regret giving up his life as a Harper--especially as he still can play on his rest dyas, or when given free time. And spending time with Nameth is never a chore--which helps keeps El’rix motivated. Oiling, bathing, and spending time with Nameth isn’t work… so he does tend to keep up his duties without neglect.

Fighting Thread has lost its allure though, and are days El’rix loathes. Not because of the work, but because the loss of wingmates is a heavy burden to wear. He’s known grief like many on Pern, and more still since Thread returned. Still, having Nameth makes it worthwhile, and though he’s afraid of his own death… he relies, perhaps a bit too much, on Nameth to help pull them through.

Nameth, of course, couldn’t be happier than when in battle--for that is where he truly shines.

Is a Metallic In My Future?

Name: C’tyl (formerly Cotyl)
Age: 27 -- 3549.10.04
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft:
Physical Description: Though C’tyl may be of middling height, he carries himself with an almost regal confidence that makes him seem much larger than he is. He has dark skin and darker eyes, and his wavy black hair is cut short and styled neatly. He keeps his facial hair neatly trimmed, and tends to lean towards clothing that is a bit on the finer side.

Personality: C’tyl will certainly never embarrass his Weyr at any event, so long as he can help it. He is prepared, polished, and extremely aware of his advantageous position in life, first as a Holder’s son, and now as a dragonrider. Eyes will naturally fall on him whether he wants them to or not, and C’tyl has embraced this by becoming an extraordinarily dutiful young man. It matters very little to him whether or not he may be an actual leader one day; he tackles all tasks and problems with the same serious determination. Failure, in his mind, is not an option--but even should it happen, C’tyll will carry himself with the same dignity as always.

This innate dignity, however, does often cross the line into pompousness. Yes, C’tyl has come from a place of privilege, and yes, he does believe it counts. He dresses a little too finely no matter the situation, and though he might not say it, he looks down on others who fail to tend to their appearance or galavant about in thread worn clothes. As he tends to believe himself a quiet, refined person, those who are more loud and boisterous in nature also will be looked at with openly reluctant tolerance--as if it’s only thanks to his good graces that he can stand them at all. On some level, C’tyl generally just believes he’s smarter and better than most people.

Unfortunately, he is not known for his silver tongue. C’tyl can be exceedingly blunt in his speech. He sees no reason to beat around the bush, and his manner of speaking is often mistaken for ‘just being mean’. He’s extremely uncomfortable around highly sensitive people, often feeling like he has to walk on eggshells and not be himself so he doesn’t accidentally upset them. Small talk is his worst nightmare, and often boils down to him offering one word responses… which doesn’t help with the ‘mean’ reputation. His humor leans towards a sharp, biting sort of sarcasm, and it’s oftentimes difficult to understand if he’s serious or not. C’tyl can seem exasperated, making scathing comments when, in fact, he’s attempting to poke fun. He is not a charming man, and his waspish tongue becomes genuine whenever he is frustrated.

These poor socialization skills grew due to C’tyl being a self-sufficient individual. With a sharp mind and a level head, he’s able to navigate his own problems without terrible difficulty. He rarely, if ever needs to ask for assistance, and it shows in the way he communicates with others. If he sees there is a task to be done, he’s going to do it without needing to be told. His arrogance does not extend to thinking that he’s ‘above’ any particular task, even if he may not enjoy it. Despite his sometimes unpleasant nature, C’tyl is a man that can be depended on in any situation. He will never be the sort to run around and spill secrets, and if asked to do something, he will see that it’s done and done well. What few friends C’tyl has will always be able to rely on him, even if he might be a bit of an a**.

Positive Trait List Dignified, Trustworthy, Self-Sufficient
Negative Trait List Pompous, Blunt, Waspish

History: The second son of a Minor Holder in Western, Cotyl had never been even considered as a possible choice of heir, and that bothered him not at all. He was raised with love, given a formal education, and had a comfortable and privileged life. As the Hold (like many near Western Hold) specialized in raising herdbeasts and runners, both brothers learned much about raising and breeding the animals. Toryn, his elder brother, was always the more charismatic of the two and much beloved by the people. Cotyl was much better with logistics and imagining ways to improve the Hold as a whole, not hesitating to speak to his father about his ideas. Though the dreamings of a young boy hardly brought monumental change, this way of thinking would continue as Cotyl grew.

Though his parents would have happily supported him if he had decided to pursue a craft, Cotyl was firmly set on remaining at the Hold. Though he often acted exasperated and irritated with his older brother, Cotyl cared for him deeply and wanted to help support him as best he could when Toryn became Holder one day. He had no lofty ambitions, no grand desires, no wild dreams. True, he had more in life than some could ever hope for, but he knew the Hold and knew it well. Why stray from that?

When Thread returned, it only seemed to reaffirm that he needed to stay exactly where he was. The damage to the Hold and its inhabitants was staggering, but if it had not been for the dragonriders, everything may have been lost. Though Cotyl had never been a stranger to hard labor, he all but threw himself at assisting with repairs and animal husbandry--anything he could do to help out around his home. He may not have been specialized in any particular field, but he was certainly able to take instruction and pitch in. For the past five Turns, he and his family worked tirelessly to help repair the damage. Though never easy, their hard work has paid off, and the Hold was back in reasonable shape. Thanks to the Weyr’s assistance, Cotyl’s father now made certain to send healthy, strong herdbeasts for the tithes, knowing he could never fully repay them for the lives they had saved. Life would go on, especially now with dragons in the skies once more to defend them all from the threat of the silvery menace.

At Western Weyr, Gold Kilakeeth had sired a handsome clutch, and the eggs were due to hatch any day now. Cotyl’s father received an invitation for him and his family to attend the Hatching. Honored, the entire family attended… and life changed in a way that none of them could ever expect.

The Hatching was breathtaking, heartbreaking, and soul-shaking all at once. Cotyl had never seen anything like it. Twin dragons (twin Queens!), fighting, even the death of a Candidate… It was heartrending, but the Impressions between young dragons and their chosen riders was an experience he would never be able to describe.

One dragon hatched without fuss, and after fastidiously grooming itself, sat at attention and observed the going-ons with a careful eye. [They] seemed in no rush to find [their] rider, but eventually, they turned [their] head to gaze up at the Stands. Cotyl almost swore [they] were looking right at him. Preposterous.

Is it? The voice sounded almost annoyed. Almost. What’s preposterous is that you are still sitting all the way up there, while your ??? is down here. You have better sense than this.

And from that moment, Cotyl’s heart was stolen.

Other: For my personal notes, his mother is named Corryna and his father is named Tarinal! He likely has younger siblings.

DRAGON
Name: ???
Color: ???
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Yup!
Personality ??? is a calm and composed creature who rarely allows [their] emotions to get the better of them… or so it seems. First impressions are absolutely critical to ???: [they] wish to be seen as the capable, talented dragon that [they] are! [They] are definitely a proud creature, and though [they] can seem aloof or even cold, such a thing could not be further than the truth. [They] are a private dragon at heart, and only with those [they] are closest to would [they] even consider opening up to to share [their] feelings and concerns. And oh, do [they] have concerns.

??? is a dragon that likes things to be neat, orderly, and under control. [They] are extremely detail oriented, able to keep track of just where everything and everyone are--and where they should be! [Their] keen memory lends itself well to drills and other tasks, and [they] will be quick to help keep others in formation. When things aren’t so neat and orderly, ??? begins to stress. Because [they] are so good at keeping [their] emotions under wraps, it may be hard to outwardly tell, but ??? will be distracted and prone to making mistakes. With every missed cue and slip-up, [they] will only grow more anxious, and there will be a very real risk of this dragon falling entirely apart! ??? is very concerned with how [they] are perceived, and any social gaffe will be enough to have [them] moping in shame for weeks. How can [they] ever show [their] face again?

Dragons who care little about how they present themselves honestly baffle ???. [They] simply don’t understand it. [They] might drop subtle hints that gradually become not so subtle for said dragons, suggesting that they would be so much better off if [they] shaped up and took a bit more notice. In fact, their poor siblings will be coaxed, wheedled at, and scolded to put a bit more effort into their appearances. They are a magnificent clutch, after all, and they need to act accordingly!

The only thing more important to [them] than [their] own standing is [their] home and [their] family. This normally cordial is surprisingly fierce in [their] defense of both. Anyone who thinks to insult either will be met with sharp words and, should they continue to carry on with their offensive behavior, possibly even a well-aimed claw swipe or snap of [their] teeth! As frigid as ??? can seem, [they] have an enormous soft spot for [their] clutchsibs, and would do just about anything for them… even if it might be mortifying.

Size: Medium
Physical Attributes: ??? is of middling size, and of average build for [their] color. [They] have a comfortable layer of pudge to [them] that is noticeably more apparent when [they] are laying down.
Additional Notes: ??? is uninterested in Flights as a whole, unless someone truly special catches [their] eye. [They] will be reluctant to settle down with a mate, if only because [they] guard [their] hearts so closely. [They] fear the vulnerability that comes with love, and the last thing [they] could stomach would be being made a fool of.

Why Me: C’tyl’s fine tastes and confidence drew ??? like a moth to a flame. Who could understand ???’s desire to always put their best foot forward like C’tyl could? The man also offered stability ??? needed, able to ground them even during the worst of [their] private meltdowns.

In turn, ??? completely understands C’tyl, no matter how socially awkward he is. Both dragon and rider have difficulty being open and expressing themselves, and ??? helps to temper the worst of [their] rider’s blunt and sarcastic nature--particularly with their fellow weyrlings!

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training? Both C’tyl and ??? were honed in on their training and determined to do their best. Though ??? was inclined to fret whenever things didn’t go as smoothly as [they] wished, C’tyl was able to support [them] and help redirect [their] focus. They were hard workers, and though C’tyl may have initially struggled with the other Weyrlings, ??? helped to direct conversation and smooth any rough edges.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister? By all means, their clutch should have been seen as extraordinarily capable and impressive with so many twins--and twin golds, even! Instead, there was drama, and ??? absolutely laments that what should have been a stunning event was sullied.

C’tyl, for his part, was astounded, and still considers himself quite lucky to have witnessed such a thing. Not even a gold can compare to his ???, of course, but still.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle? Flying was more difficult than either of them expected. ??? obsessed over how [they] looked while doing it, which lead to mistakes, anxiety, and poor takeoff and landing attempts. ??? was too embarrassed to want to try again afterwards. It took hard work and patience, but the pair finally got the hang of things, and now flying is a dream.

???’s attention to detail and C’tyl’s self sufficient nature made Between training surprisingly easy. The seriousness of it all had been hammered into both of their heads, and C’tyl did not allow himself to become smug or overconfident about their success.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider? C’tyl finds the whole situation to still be a little surreal. He thought he had his entire life planned out--and then ??? changed everything. The man made the switch with surprising grace, however, and now dutifully serves his Weyr with pride.

??? has mixed emotions about Threadfall. Part of [them] wants to fight, wants to burn it all from the sky! The other part is extraordinarily uneasy at the thought of all the mess and chaos. Still, [they] have worked hard on [their] drills and formations, and choose to believe that as long as they follow [their] training, everything will work out for the best.

I Prefer Things More Chromatic!

Name: Senara
Age: 26
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Picky heterosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Weaver, specialising in fashion design and tailoring

Physical Description:
A willowy, lean young woman who stands at 5’6, Senara takes great pride in her appearance and will endeavour to be immaculately presented at all times. Creamy tan skin is unmarred- and she treats it liberally with oils and lotions at her leisure. Her figure is not especially curvaceous, and there is little suggestion of womanly charms beneath the beautiful dresses she dons. She is not naturally muscular or strong in any sense, and becoming a fully-fledged rider presented challenges in itself.

Thick waves of bark brown hair, when left loose, reach her shoulder blades; for the most part she has her hair pinned up in soft and dainty curls, sometimes threaded with flowers for a more stylish effect. A long, prominent nose and soft, rosebud lips give her an almost earth-Grecian look, though deep, sapphire blue eyes break the ancestral Mediterranean mould. She is skilled in the use of makeup, but prefers a light, natural look for herself.

Her dress sense is sophisticated and sensible for most occasions, though she does like to dress up for Gathers and other events. As a designer, she sees the people of the world first through the clothes that they wear, and has an eye for accessories that would be impractical in most careers and life paths. She herself prefers flowers, draping sashes, ribbons and lace. Her preferred colours are tones of blue and accents of white, but she’ll make do with earthy hues as well.

Personality:
A picture of serenity and grace, Senara puts a great deal of effort into looking like a lady, even if she is not of noble birth. She believes that first impressions are extremely important, and strives for perfection in all of her interactions. Her manners are beyond reproach, her opinions and discontent kept very much locked away for none than her diary to witness, and her tone and register are borrowed from folk far above her own station. Senara’s veins might run with commoner’s blood, but she has all the trappings of an earthen queen of legend: regal, eloquent, and aloof.

Beneath this facade of polite civility lies the heart and soul of a driven perfectionist, and a brilliant, creative mind to fuel such an inner critic. Senara has always loved a world filled with vibrant colour, and though she suppressed childish glee and silliness in favour of a mature and respectable demeanour, the sight of her poring over her work, sketching or pinning fabric, her frenzied inspiration grabbing her even in the middle of the night… well, it unveils a deeper, less stiff side of the woman. She prefers to work alone, unseen, and without fear of being judged by others, for it is when she is alone that she allows her guard to be lowered, and for her creativity to flow unhindered.

A very focused individual, Sen has an amazing ability to prioritise and achieve, driving herself to reach greater and greater heights with every accomplishment. She is extremely harsh on herself, but silently judges others as well. She values people who demonstrate strong work ethics, like her own, but will also inwardly criticise the care they show for their appearance. Well-dressed and well-groomed are likely to better impress her, and she is the type to take mental notes on those who put in effort. Grudges run deep and last long with her.

A polite conversationalist, Senara holds only a passing interest in people until they have proven themselves worthy of her friendship and trust, at which point she will offer them her loyalty in non-verbal ways. She values actions and gifts over words, and those who call her a friend will find themselves cared for and nurtured during their worst times, and encouraged during their best. She'll make trinkets for them, with a thoughtfulness belied by her originally aloof ways. Truly, Sen can be precious and dear, but her friendship is a hard-won thing.

Say nothing of her affection and love! She's very much a traditionalist in that respect, enjoying the ritual of courting and the thrill of the tease. Senara is the type of person to keep her feelings under lock and key, uncomfortable with letting her guard down except around those nearest and dearest. She can be stiff, but she has a passionate heart, and dreams (or dreamt) of starting a loving and warm family. One day, someday… Ah, how it would be grand.

Neat as a pin, rigorous, methodical and disciplined, Senara leaves nothing up to chance or fate: she is mindful of the choices that lay before her, and the actions she can take, and considers them all with great care. This reflects in her work, which is polished to a shine before being unveiled to the world. Alas, it does cause her to be a bit of a stick-in-the-mud, having lost her sense of joie-de-vivre in her hasty rush to maturity.

Positive Trait List: Conscientious, Eloquent, Creative
Negative Trait List: Perfectionist, Judgemental, No-nonsense

History:
Senara was born to two loving crafter based in Southern Boll: her father was a journeyman vintner, and her mother was a journeyman healer. They met through circumstances touching on his love for red wine and dancing, and their love has blossomed ever since. The eldest of four, Senara also has three sisters and a great sense of responsibility towards them.

She was old even when she was young, showing tendencies to want to micromanage her siblings to keep them out of danger. Whilst they played in the sun and had fun, she felt the lure to join them, but the inner voice of worry and coddling kept telling her to watch out, to be careful- and those were the words that escaped her mouth. She was the 'unfun' sister, the boring, rule-following one. She tried not to let it bother her, but Sen felt a disconnection from her sisters that all the familial affection could not seem to fix.

She did have a passion though- and talent, her mother had noticed. The young girl was drawn to the colours and fabrics of the Crafthall, spending spare time watching the weavers at their work. She encouraged her daughter to pursue it as a Craft when she came of age to apprentice; Sen was a smart girl, and had done well in lessons. She took to the Weavercraft with surprisingly overt gusto, spending candlemarks hidden away in her room after lessons working on her own skills and projects. Dedicated and tireless, she drew the eye of her peers.

At around fifteen Turns, her father grew very sick with a rarer illness. Her mother spent a great deal of time caring for him, researching treatments and symptoms for this mysterious ailment. It took him close to a Turn, but the man recovered enough to become mobile once more. He has since given up drinking. The scare brought the family closer together, and Senara threw herself into designing dresses for her sisters in her spare time. They each admired and adored her work, giving Sen a great deal of pride and sense of accomplishment that would feed her inner critic and spur her to greater heights.

She was promoted to journeyman at 18, showing excellent skill and knowledge, as well as a desire to refine her skills in tailoring and designing. She stayed on at Southern Boll Crafthall until 22, four Turns ago, when she received a posting for Western Hold. Though inwardly loathe to leave her family, Sen took the leap in the hopes of one day being able to establish her own business and have her name renowned across the western continent.

Thread fell, seemingly out of the blue, sewing chaos and devastation across Pern. Senara was safe, and sent a message to Southern Boll to ascertain her family's safety too: all had survived, though her mother and her youngest sister, who had become a healer as well, had their work cut out for them. Relieved, Senara did what she could within the capacity of her skill to help, though she never gave up on her dream.

At 25, she had finally earnt enough to acquire a small working studio of her own out of which to operate her business and take on clientele. Her fashion was popular both at Western and Rivercrest Holds, and she was certain it would only be a matter of time before every noble, minor or major, would clamour for one of 'Senara's dresses' in their wardrobe. The thought made her shiver with the most suppressed, gleeful anticipation.

It was one of these nobles who changed her life forever. The young Lady had been invited to attend a hatching at Western Weyr, and demanded that Senara attend her to ensure her dress was immaculate. There was no guaranteeing when the eggs would hatch, but Sen agreed. When a courtesy rider came for her after sunset, at the Lady's request, Sen rushed to dress herself immaculately. Of course, eggs waited on no one’s schedule.

Like any studied child, she knew about hatchings. She watched with growing fascination as the eggs revealed stunning, poise-ready babies. Some stalked their chosen from shadows, whilst others exploded in a shower of eggshell and glamour. Some were angered, some were upset… The swirl of emotion emanating from the sand brought a hitch to her throat, and she found her head light from a lack of deep breaths.

And there… one creature, perhaps more sunny, more beautiful than any other… watched her. It simply sat and watched her, its head ever so slightly tilted to one side.

Then it moved quicker than she thought possible for a newborn, scampering past siblings and candidates alike to push through the throngs of people in the Stands. It didn’t seem to care if claw or wingtip scratched, although when it tripped over itself Sen leaned forwards, heart giving a heavy, sickly thud in her chest…

I’m okay, SenaraMine! Just gotta know though- why are you up there? Is this a game? Are we playing? Do I get a prize? The barrage of questions- joyous and quizzical all at once, poured into her mind like a tidal wave.

Senara leaned back in her seat, gasping as the creature scrambled up to her row, laying heavily upon her.

I gotcha! I did!

Oh… oh shards.

She was a dragonrider now, wasn’t she?

Other:
I left details about the noble she accompanied vague, in case that part of the story needed hashing out. I figured it would be okay for her to attend the hatching if she was the invited guest of an invited and/or important guest, and am more than happy to adjust this part of her background should she win and it is necessary.

DRAGON
Name: Cattath (placeholder name)
Color: ???
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Y

Personality:
Cattath is full of mischief and mayhem, like a kitten that never grew up. Oh sure, they know they're supposed to be dutiful and cunning and crafty and bla bla bla… But it's just so boring! What happened to all the fun? Did playfulness just abandon the Weyr because Thread showed its ugly face? Pfffffff. Scaredy-cats. Cattath will show you! Cattath will show you all how to face things and still love every second of life!

An unstoppable force, Cattath needs a very tight leash to properly perform their duties. It's not that they're a bad listener, per se… They just get distracted by the next exciting thing and- BLAMMO. Dipping in and out of formation to go catch errant Thread, or to help a dragon who may or may not be their wingmate… or, maybe go fetch a bag of firestone for the Wingleader. Cattath's heart is in the right place, but good intentions may very well pave the way to torment.

Affectionate and bubbly, Cattath has very little concept of personal space. They’re a very physical dragon, manifesting their adoration for others through headbumps, tail-curling and even the occasional pouncing-hug. The unbridled energy and enthusiasm for life leaks into every nook and cranny: from Threadfighting to love, to social exchanges and adventures, they seem like an unstoppable, boundless force.

Unfortunately, this does come with consequences. Left unchecked, their explorations turn into shenanigans: oh, nothing malicious of course. It is simply a matter of pushing too far, of stomping on boundaries and being a bit… well… much. On top of this, their attention wavers at crucial moments, and they require a steady hand to remain focused on the task. Often Cattath will need to be reminded of the impact of their actions, and made to think about the feelings of others. This doesn’t occur naturally to the creature, who is both independent and strong-willed.

Cattath might not have a bad bone in their body, or much of a temper, but there is certainly a lot here that may frustrate and alienate those around them.

Positive Trait List: Energetic, Affable, Affectionate
Negative Trait List: Mischievous, Easily side-tracked, Thoughtless

Size: Large

Physical Attributes: Lean, fast and slender, Cattath is very long in the body. His tail is also extraordinary in proportions, able to be wrapped around all of his paws with ease when sat. He has overlong headknobs that never seem to quite fit on his head, giving them an awkward teenage look.

Additional Notes:
An eager and enthusiastic flier, chaser and mate, Cattath will have their hearts broken over and over again until they find that special someone who treasures them for who they are (and tolerates their nonsense). As an ebullient and warm dragon, they will not become so disheartened- bouncing back from rejection with affable ease. That enduring affection may win them a weyrmate or two some time in the future, when Cattath has perhaps settled down? Cattath believes in the power of love, and will gladly welcome multiple partners.

They flames with passion, but their flame doesn’t last long. They will push themselves beyond their physical limits, and will need to be reminded to go and rest.

Why Me:
Cattath- sunny affection incarnate- brings unbridled warmth and joy to the stuffy, aloof Senara. The human half is withdrawn, exhibiting practiced poise with the grace of aplomb of someone born far above her rank. Cattath, on the other hand, brings that facade crumbling down: all of their lack of boundaries, and their absolute certainty that the world is their oyster, might just be the ticket to enabling Sen to relax a little.

But it is not all one-sided: Cattath may not realise, but Senara’s focus, her rigidity and her propriety is exactly what they need to stop them from going too far. In fact, if it wasn’t for Sen’s ‘normality measure’, Cattath might very well be a greatly problematic dragon in terms of Thread-fighting and behaviour. Cattath will learn discipline and the value of setting standards for one’s self from their rider, and as the pair mature they will balance each other out and complement one another’s virtues and flaws.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training?
Senara was not a candidate, and suffered a great deal of culture shock as she adjusted to Weyrlife. She needed remedial lessons, especially in physical exercise, although proved herself a willing and diligent student (when she wasn’t chasing after Cattath).

Cattath’s many misadventures, especially initially, brought the pair under the merciless scrutiny of the weyrlingteam. They earned themselves a poor reputation to begin with, but Senara’s social graces and desire to fit in proved to be a benefit amongst their peers.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister?
Senara thought it was a good omen to have so many dragons- especially twin golds. Cattath loves all of their siblings- and makes no distinction between those who do and don’t like them. They all deserve their affection and love.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle?
It was hard to keep Cattath focused, but once Senara drilled home the seriousness of the lesson (and tempered her dragon’s excitement somewhat), it became easier to guide the creature. Rocky starts gave way to a drive for perfection, and the pair found themselves soaring with ease and enthusiasm.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider?
It’s both exciting and scary! Becoming a rider has opened a totally new world to Senara, who hardly thinks of the life she left behind at Western Hold. In her spare time, she’ll still attempt to design fashion, although she hardly has a moment to herself when Cattath is still off getting into Faranth knows what.

Now that the discipline of weyrlinghood has given way to the drills of Wingrider-life, Cattath has sort of… grown bigger in their sense of self. All of their passion and enthusiasm is now lavished upon their wingmates, who may find the creature insufferable for their unending optimism and joy.

If you roll a bronze, which profile gets the win? N/A
If you roll a brown, which profile gets the win? Aharaki
If you roll a blue, which profile gets the win? Aharaki
If you roll a green, which profile gets the win? Aharaki

I Prefer Things More Chromatic!

Name: Aharaki
Age: 24
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: ???
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: None
Physical Description:
More or less average in both build and height at 5'6", Aharaki has well-tanned skin, silky black hair, and gold eyes that never quite lose a sparkle of mischief.

Personality:
Aharaki has the air of someone who is up to something at almost all times, with keen eyes and sharp wit that never rest. Cleverness and a quick tongue have saved her skin more times than she can count - though she will gleefully recount her most notable close calls - and she hasn't let a few Turns in the relative comfort of a Weyr dull her instincts. She may not be conning anyone or picking pockets anymore, but that's no reason to let herself get lax. Time in her company can be trying for those with thinner skins, as she often teases and plays, but her jokes and games can be a bit sharp; while she doesn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, she sometimes does with pointed words that go a little too far. Though she now has Dragonth, who has blunted her sharp tongue some, that edge isn't entirely gone, but at least he can help her smooth out some of the ruffled feathers and hurt feelings.

She can be charming when she wants to be - even moreso since Impressing - or play at innocence or helplessness if she thinks that it will get her something she wants, or out of trouble, all acts that have served her well in the past and that she will fall back on whether because she needs to or because she's bored. Aharaki does become bored very easily, whether or routine or of sitting still, and needs excitement and adrenaline in her life. She thrives when facing a challenge, and may seek one out to entertain herself if things in her day-to-day aren't quite enough. The fight against Thread is a good outlet, but that's not always quite enough, as she still enjoys the puzzles and challenges that people present. Risky physical stunts are all well and good, but she needs mental stimulation, which can lead her to games and manipulations. As with her teasing, it's all in good fun for her, but she can at times go too far, and needs to be reined in by Dragonth if she starts to cross a line that might lead to someone's distress.

One thing Aharaki doesn't do well is plain honesty, particularly about herself and her own thoughts and feelings. She is more inclined to half-truths and deflections, albeit pretty ones that may well be what someone wants to hear, and she swears to herself it will be a balmy day Between before she gets truly and deeply attached to anyone but Dragonth...and even if she does, that doesn't mean she has to admit it. Though not inclined to get too close to anyone, she does still enjoy a good time, and can be a lot of fun to be around: a lively party, a strong drink, an attractive partner...she will happily indulge in them all.

Positive Trait List attentive, clever, jovial
Negative Trait List mischievous, slow to trust, manipulative

History:
Born to a brothel-worker (and not a well-to-do one) in Rivercrest, Aharaki grew up largely fending for herself. Her mother did her best to keep her fed and clothed, but had little time to devote to her, so she spent most of her days with other children of similar or worse situations, and together caused and got into no end of trouble. Aharaki was begging early, and then thieving, which was where she quickly found her niche. She was a scrawny, scrappy child who could squirm her way into or out of all sorts of spaces, clever enough that she was rarely caught and quick enough on her feet that when she was caught, she was usually able to escape. She stole mostly to make ends meet, to feed herself and her friends and even her mother on occasion.

As she entered her teenage years, she started to flirt with the possibility of taking up the same line of work as her mother, but ultimately the lure of cons and thieving was too great, even if it was a slightly rougher life. Not that her mother's work didn't come with its own risks, but for Aharaki, by comparison it seemed boring, and as time went on she saw her mother less and less. When she was 19, and hadn't seen her in over a Turn, Aharaki received news that Aharana had died, killed by a client in a disagreement over payment. It was a massive shock to Aharaki, who rarely let her emotions have much rein at all, if any, and she was greatly subdued for several weeks after. Eventually, she did what she could take shake herself out of it, walling off that part of her that cared, and turned the feelings into a much safer resentment by blaming her mother for the choices she'd made in life. She, of course, was far less foolish, too clever to ever let such a fate catch up with her.

With a hardened edge, Aharaki continued on her own path, until at 21 she was Searched to Western Weyr. By comparison, it was a much quieter, easier life than she was used to, but also far more structured, and though she wasn't stupid enough to act out, at times it was a difficult adjustment for her to make. Nonetheless, she persevered, and ultimately, her time came when she stood for Killakeeth's clutch. While there was much excitement elsewhere on the Sands, a small, delicate hatchling unfolded himself from his egg and, after a full and luxurious stretch for whatever lucky eyes happened to be upon him, wound his way through the Candidates, taking his sweet time to find his way to her; he'd known full well Aharaki was His ever since the Touching, but he couldn't resist building suspense, or giving those he passed a glimpse of what they surely wanted...but would never be theirs.

Other: Derg is repurposed/reworked from a prior contest, rider and such are new!

DRAGON
Name: ???
Color: ???
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Y
Personality
Dragonth is, in his very esteemed and privately-held opinion, a dragon unlike any other who has ever been shelled. There is not a moment where he is not poised, when he is not unaware that there are eyes upon him: because there are always eyes upon him, or should be! While Dragonth will play at humility, will hide his gaze behind a coy flutter of his wing, he loves attention. He wants to be looked at, listened to, talked about, and thought about, whether in a positive or negative way, although he most prefers a middle ground of vexation. He delights in being a puzzle, in shrouding himself in an air of mystery, which comes to him as easily as breathing. The less anyone knows about him, the more they will wonder, and so Dragonth will stay in their thoughts.

Dragonth is a difficult dragon for anyone, Dragonth included, to know. He is what he needs or wants to be at any given moment, whatever he feels, and if the mood strikes him, whatever he thinks someone else wants or needs him to be. He loves to be a listening ear, to be confided in and consulted, looked to for advice. This advice, more often than not, will be open to interpretation, with a vague or cryptic quality. This is both because he enjoys being mysterious, and because by giving an obscure answer that leaves multiple meanings open, it could be interpreted as correct regardless of the details of the outcome. He rarely gives the plainly-spoken truth, exactly as it is; he prefers to bend it, and has no compunctions about lying outright. Lies, after all, are so much prettier, and often what people truly want to hear.

This dragon, for all of his love of attention, is soft-spoken and demure, never one to grandstand or shove another aside, and rarely raises his voice. He is naturally captivating, and will use body language, turn of phrase, and the quiet intensity of his presence to catch and keep the attention that he desires. When it comes to romantic attention, anyone interested will find him slippery indeed, as he will lead all potential lovers on a long and winding chase...only to slip through their claws like so much smoke soon after being caught.

He has a deep-seated disdain for following orders, not out of any innate drive to rebel, but because he and his rider, and no one else, should be the masters of their own fate. He wants to make his own choices, regardless of the outcome, and unless his rider can sway him, will listen to heart and instinct over logic. If this leads him to a poor outcome, he will accept it and move on, rather than denying it, dwelling on it, or blaming it on someone else. If nothing else, at least his choice was his own.

Size: Extra Small
Physical Attributes: Delicate and fine-featured, this dragon is beautiful, with a slender build and long, graceful lines. He's quite small for his color, but in his opinion, that only makes him that much more distinctive.

Additional Notes:
Though he may fly after a rising female, he will almost never put much genuine effort into winning, unless on a fanciful whim or if he believes there is something to be gained. He would much rather be chased himself, and has no qualms about distracting and poaching another's suitors of any color. It is unlikely that he will ever be an earnest suitor himself in any regard, in the sky or out of it; it is very possible that no being on Pern other than his rider will ever be capable of holding his hearts. If ever Dragonth were to find his feelings for another to be more than fleeting, no one would be more surprised than he. He considers himself a connoisseur of fine things, and will enjoy well-crafted tack and beautiful accessories.

Why Me: What a delightful, complex woman Aharaki is! From her cleverness to her love of mischief, Dragonth found her positively irresistible. Who else could keep up with him and be his match, who else could possibly hope to even begin to understand a dragon of such mystery and secrets than one who had their own? Aharaki, too, can act and play at whatever she wants to be, and together they can puzzle and play with all the Weyr. At the same time, Aharaki still has a hard grounding in reality that can keep Dragonth in check and on task when he needs it, while Dragonth can soften some of her sharper edges and begin to gently open up the feelings she hides even from herself. She cannot hide them from him, and perhaps in time, she might share them with a select few others as well...though secrecy has great allure, one can't go through life all alone.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training?
Between the two of them, they averaged out to middling students. While Aharaki had grown accustomed to Weyr structure by the time she Impressed, Dragonth hatched with a deep dislike for rules and orders, and it took time - and often coaxing and cajolling - to get him to pay attention and do what they were supposed to do, and put his all into it. Still, even at his most recalcitrant, he remained amiable and charming to their teachers, and saved his more peevish thoughts for His.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister?
How very curious! He certainly likes being his own, perfectly unique dragon, without another who knows him as deeply as a twin would, but the pairs of twins are quite fascinating. As for the golds, well...given his dislike of orders and authority, he definitely prefers one over the other (not that he would ever admit it).

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle?
Graceful Dragonth was a natural when the time came to fly, and thanks to Aharaki's clever, precise mind, they faired quite well during Between training as well...once she'd gotten it into his head how critically important it was for him to focus. Between is a life-or-death matter, and no time for flirting with clutchmates.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider?
By the time they graduated, Dragonth had been shaped into a fair fighter of Thread; though he may resent taking orders, he does revel in doing things well when he sets his mind to them, so when the time comes to fight, he does well. Aharaki has settled into their new role in life well, and keeps him on track when he needs the reminder.

If you roll a bronze, which profile gets the win? A'kios
If you roll a brown, which profile gets the win? A'kios
If you roll a blue, which profile gets the win? A'kios
If you roll a green, which profile gets the win? A'kios

Is a Metallic In My Future?

Name: A'kios
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Courtesan/Spy - Apprentice

Physical Description: Short. Very short, to A'kios's dismay. During his early Turns at Rivercrest Hold and then later at Western Hold A'kios cultivated a growing beauty, wishing to gain apprenticeship at the Courtesan Hall. Golden eyed and blue-black of hair, he has allowed the latter to grow nearly to his ankles - although with Thread's return and his recent graduation it's mostly been kept up and out of the way.

Personality: Acerbic and witty, A'kios is a tough nut to crack. He tends not to allow others to get close to him, anticipating betrayal at every turn. After all, that was the environment in which this tiny thief-turned courtesan grew up. He's very intelligent, knows it, and gives off the appearance of looking down on others who are less so. This is a facade, and simply another tool to keep them at bay. If he were ever to allow another close to him they would find him warm hearted and devoted, if afraid to give that devotion in its full measure.

He can be very possessive, which has gotten in the way of a few friendships in the past. For all that he's bright, he definitely has a way of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, though he spent a considerable amount of time during his apprenticeship trying to correct his many flaws. To put it frankly, he's... kind of a b***h. Yet even so, he cares about those around him and will secretly try to arrange matters so that they get what they want. Just don't confront him about it if he's discovered because he will flat out deny it.

Positive Trait List Clever, loyal, witty
Negative Trait List Possessive, guarded, prickly

History: It was not an easy life on the streets of Rivercrest Hold, and though at one point in his life Akakios knew both his father and his mother, he didn't spend much time with them. His mother was not so much a courtesan as a whore, working at a non-Hall sanctioned brothel with no Hall training to her name. To the best of his knowledge, his father Gakios was a seacrafter, though over time little Akakios began to suspect his sire might be a pirate, for he often had goods that were far too fine for a humble seacrafter apprentice (or even a journeyman) to possess.

So it was that his father met with an early death, leaving the young boy to fend for himself. His mother was no help, often overindulging in the kinds of drugs that are commonplace in the bad parts of Rivercrest. When she almost inevitably overdosed, Akakios was left to mourn alone... yet his mother Akara had truly been absent from his life for far longer. Due to a number of encounters in those early days the boy did not hold much trust for the strangers that he encountered, and managed to keep himself fed by doing favors and stealing items upon their request.

Haunted by the shame his mother had felt in her life, he had determined from a very young age that he would become a "real" courtesan, and tried his best to catch the eye of any potential recruiters he found. Eventually the gambit paid off, and he found himself rather than a half starved thief, a newly minted apprentice courtesan at the Courtesan Hall. A real bath and pampering followed, but it was not long before he discovered that the master in question had ulterior motives for choosing him. He had gained certain skills on the street, and when Akakios was brought into the fold of spies for the Hall, trained by that very master to follow in his footsteps.

It had not been long, perhaps three Turns at most, when a Western searchrider and her dragon decided that the lad ought to stand for the latest clutch. There, Akakios, now A'kios, discovered the one who would be the love of his life. Instantly besotted with the dragonet who had bowled him over and made his/her claim, A'kios professed his own undying devotion. For all that he had been betrayed many times over, he knew that Nameth would never turn on him, and he could put his trust fully in him/her.

Weyrling training was difficult for the pair, though not impossible. Breaking A'kios out of his shell had been Nameth's first goal, and he found himself thrown into situations where he could not avoid others. Though he struggled to open up, he certainly excelled during lessons. He knew each and every one of their clutchmates, and felt a strange sense of belonging. It was the first time he'd ever truly belonged anywhere, and he didn't totally know how to process it. So it was that when they faced danger together, and ultimately losses, A'kios was stricken in ways he'd never imagined.

Other: Although he will never admit it, A'kios's love can be bought through fine things... not unlike his father before him. He likes being pampered and spoiled, and even more enjoys being able to spoil Nameth.

Personality Nameth is a clever beast, fully aware of just how beautiful he/she is. One might call him/her vain, and one might be right. Manipulative and charming, Nameth knows how to get his/her way. Nothing would please Nameth more than having the entire Weyr eating out of his/her palm, though he/she knows that that may prove a difficult challenge. Inclined toward hedonism, Nameth nevertheless does expect full devotion from any partners. Anything less will be met with his/her claws. Greedy, Nameth wants to have his/her cake and eat it too... but knows that there is someone out there who is perfect for him/her. Ambitious and hungry for all the Weyr has to offer, Nameth looks for every opportunity to climb just a little higher.
Size: Extra small
Physical Attributes: Although small, Nameth has a relatively long tail and larger wings. An elegant creature, Nameth enjoys showing off his/her beauty at every opportunity... knowing all of the best ways to pose.
Additional Notes: Nameth is looking for the one, but it might take him/her awhile. S/he's very particular, and demands nothing short of complete devotion out of a partner. Quick and agile, s/he excels with between accuracy.

Why Me: Who else would Nameth have picked? Who was more beautiful, more cunning, more perfect for his/her schemes? But ah, Nameth also knew that A'kios needed love, and was ready to offer it in full. More than anything, Nameth needed someone that he/she could trust, who would devote themselves fully, and A'kios is just that person.

- - - -

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training? Although at first it was difficult to mesh with the rest of the Weyrlings, A'kios was sort of tossed into that because of Nameth. Nameth is a highly social beast and forced A'kios to gain social skills. Sharding dragon.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister? It was, in Nameth's opinion, the finest thing ever. A'kios was amazed that so many twins were shelled, but truth be told didn't know enough about dragons to think it was that unusual.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle? Flying lessons went relatively well, although A'kios was initially afraid during their Between lessons. It took extra practice to get past that fear, but they did ultimately succeed.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider? This is the first time that A'kios has truly been a part of anything greater than himself. Although becoming a dragonrider does not have quite the same sort of historic awe as it once did, A'kios is determined to make the most of it... and his dragon won't allow him to do anything but excel.

Is a Metallic In My Future?

Name: Peregal
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Not really concerned, but straight by inclination.
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Weyrbrat
Physical Description: Peregal has always thought his arms were too long for his body and his hands oversized. Yes, that makes it easy to reach for and pick up things, but it also got him teased a bit growing up. Fortunately, he's starting to even out. A growth spurt finally sen him a couple inches over six feet. His dark ginger hair is thick with a not so subtle wave that he wears pulled back into a tail almost all the time. Grey blue eyes are usually alight with laughter, if you can find them behind his unfairly lush eyelashes. He's pretty heavily freckled, visible even through, or maybe because of, his tan. Both of his ears have been pierced, once, with suble golden hoops.

Personality: Peregal likes people, okay? He's very social and is not at all shy about introducing himself to strangers or finding the wallflower in the room and sitting down for a chat. That's not to say that he needs to be entertained at all times. Far from it. Peregal is more than capable of filling the candlemarks of a day with various acitivities, whether those are assignments, chores, or simply self-guided exploration.

In other words, he *likes* people and company, but he doesn't require them. He certainly wouldn't be happy or thriving if he was forced to live alone, but he can manage hours at a time without interaction. He's very independent.
This doesn't mean he's a rule breaker. He will not go out of his way to cause a problem, though he doesn't mind indulging in the occaional bit of mischief.

If he is upset, which doesn't happen all that often but isn't impossible, either, he is more likely to retreat, regroup and then come back to talk things out tnan he is to get confrontational and start swinging. He has his limits and lines that he prefers not to cross, but he's got a very long, slow-burning fuse.

He can be very physically affectionate, if given permission, but he has no desire to force anyone into anything uncomfortable. He is a good secret keeper, but not a gossip. He can be relied on to have a friend's back or to shield them if need be, but he certainly won't be the first one into the fray.

Positive Trait List friendly, companionable, independent
Negative Trait List reclusive, independent, pushover

History: Peregal was born in Western to a pair of very busy riders who, though they chose not to have an army of littles trying to topple off their ledge, still participated in their childrens' lives and made sure they knew they were loved. As a result, he is a friendly, outgoing, loves-a-crowd sort of guy.

While he hoped that one day he might ride a dragon like his parents, he didn't pin all of his hopes on that outcome. He didn't, though, decide on anyone craft to aspire to that filled his time, either. Instead, between Candidate chores, Peregal was only too happy to continue to help out around the WEyr. He's quite a good handyman, really, and has neither a fear of heights nor of bugs, so he's equally good on a ladder and in the darkest corner of a neglected storeroom.

At the Hatching where he found Golabeth -- or rather, Golabeth found him -- he was so caught up in watching pairings happen around him, so happy for his classmates, that he nearly missed his own Impression. Not that he could *really* have overlooked Golabeth's insistant new presence in his mind, but it did take the dragon getting rather loud and rather close to impress upon the young man -- ha ha! -- that this was Serious Business and they were now partners for life.

An arrangement happily and apologetically accepted. An arrangement neither would trade for anythhing.

Other: Mostly raised in the creche, he has siblings he knows about/who know him, and they do consider one another family.

DRAGON
Name: Golabeth
Color: That color! The perfect one!
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Y

Personality If Peregal is easy to push around, then Golabeth is probably the one doing the pushing. Not a bossy dragon, at least with anyone else, Golabeth has very particular wants and needs, thoughts and opinions, and it is Peregal's job -- no, obligation -- to see that they're met.

Golabeth is not cruel. In fact the dragon can sometimes come across as a little smothering. Making sure that friends, yes, but clutchmates in particular, are comfortable and happy and well-cared for are just the sort of things that make Golabeth content.

That said, attitudes of all sorts frustrate the dragon. Snippy dragons and lazy dragons alike will no doubt find themselves on the sharp end of this dragon's tongue.

Golabeth is a hoarder or sorts, just for the record, always on the look out for the most outstanding and unusual object. Got a new fancy pair of boots. Look out, Golabeth might claim them.

Size: Medium
Physical Attributes: Golabeth is a little on the "fluffy" side, in that there's a little extra weight on them. Not a fat dragon, certainly, just comfortably padded.

Additional Notes: When it comes to flights, Golabeth will enthusiastically engage. After all, what could be better than attention and a happy ending?

Why Me: Why did this dragon pick out the above Candidate? What do they give one another? Golabeth chose Peregal because he needed some guidance and direction. Being willing to do "whatever" is all well and good and certainly handy and helpful at times, but sometimes you need a goal and a purpse in life. Golabeth has lots of ideas about that. For his part, Peregal helps to satisfy Golabeth's more controlling nature, to offer some peace and comfort and reassurance that, even without a specific outcome in mind, the world will keep on turning and life is fine.

How did your character behave during Weyrling Training? Pergal (or P'gal, I guess) was an enththusiastic learner and generally upbeat. He was more than willing to help other classmates struggling with any of the lessons, if asked, and definitely lent an ear to frustrations or fears, etc.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister? He was shocked first and then delighted! He's been curiously watching those who Impressed twins, particularly the gold riders, to see whether they're going to go down the same sort of path or deliberately be as different and independent as they can.

How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle? Flying lessons were tricky at first, as Golabeth had a little trouble not being the most aerodynamic dragon on Pern. Between training, however, came so naturally that they were cautioned and then lectured about not getting cocky about it, lest they become object lessons for the next class.

How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider?

P'gal and Golabeth are pretty much loving life and really don't have a thing to complain about. Well. Not right now. Golabeth might find something. Huff!

Is a Metallic In My Future?

Name: Setrenan
Age: 21
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider

Previous Rank/Craft: Healer, intending to become a dragonhealer
Physical Description: Not quite six feet tall, Setrenan carries himself as though he stands at about eight feet. Fairly broad across the chest by nature, he shoulders are always back and chin slightly lifted, though he at the least knows how to adjust so he's not literally looking down his nose. Black hair is kept close cropped and tidy, and that seems to be his style. Composed, presentable and clean. Very little out of place. The places warmth most appear on him are in the honey-brown color of his eyes, a dimpled smile and the richness of his voice.

Personality: Setrenan has as many angles to his personality as he does in his physicality. Meanng? There is very little softness in him. Even his sense of humor -- though present! -- tends toward the sharp, edged side. He speaks his mind, he speaks it directly, and he doesn't pad his words. When he likes or dislikes a person, there is no doubt.

He is extremely tidy and finds clutter, chaos and disarray extremely distasteful. He is not abovee tidying someone else's things if they are in a public space. He will not straighten someone else's clothes or hair, etc. He does not touch without permission, but he will almost certainly comment and suggest.

For these reasons, and more, he's not oftn surrounded by friends. He has some exacting standards when it comes to seeking out others for friendship and very few people are able to reach them. Those who do make it into his inner circle, however, have his loyalty and his voice of support. He will defend a friend fiercely, loudly, and until he is made to stop, even if his friend has taken on an unpopular point of view.

Appearance and status are very important to him. Despite being Western-born, he is unimpressed, to say the least, by those who have no ambition and do not strive for the best that they can achieve. Likewise, those who overreach their positions, even if that applies to him self.

The reason for his rigidity, though, is that beneath the surface -- because most of what is seen from him is a well-practiced act -- Setrenan is desperately afraid of being alone. He craves companionship, though he would never ask for it. He longs for the sort of solid, unwavering love he has witnessed between his parents, and yet mistrusts anyone who offers those things to come because ultimately he mistruts that he is worthy. He must be perfect or he is not enough.

Positive Trait List organized, direct, regimented
Negative Trait List mistrusting, blunt, perfectionist

History: Setrenan -- or S'tren -- was born at Western. His parents were not riders, but one of the Weyr harpers and his wife. Therefoe he wasn't raised dreaming of being a ride, but was taught to respect them. Instead of dragon *riding* dreams, he indulged his curiosity about the intelligent beasts and planned to become a dragonhealer, so threw himself quite seriously into those studies.

He stepped up to the expectation that, as a resident, he would Stand for hatchings, but he didn't really take it seriously until after First Fall. Then, his dreams and desires shifted to becoming a dragon rider.

Learning and following the rules became more important than making friends. It's not something that troubled him ovrly much and he sharpened his focused even more on the dragons and anything surrounding them.

So while finding Rebsonath on the Sands felt like a deserved reward for his dedication and studies, it was also a major relief. All of his hard work had guaranteed that he would not suffer the lonely fate that he feared.

Other: His parents are alive. A sibling or two is also possible.

DRAGON
Name: Rebsonath
Color: We'll find out!
- - - - > Would you be willing to change the dragons color/sex to fit a different NPC slot? Y

Personality Rebsonath has no time for the "little" dragons of Pern. He is unconcerned with being polite or friendly to those beneath him. He is not cruel or danerous. He's simply underinterested and unmoved to offer support or comfort. Any dragon attached to someone close to S'tren might be the exception to the rule, but he would still judge them suspiciously.

Size: Lrge
Physical Attributes: Rebsonath is a lean, slightly more serpentine looking dragon. Narrowly built and sinuous.

Additional Notes: Rebsonath's entire focus during a Flight would be on the dragon he is chasing, but finding a permanent mate will be difficult in the extreme.

Why Me: Why did this dragon pick out the above Candidate? What do they give one another? Rebosnath chose S'tren more for their similarities than their differences. He is convinced that S'tren will aid in getting him the respect and admiration he deseres. S'tren will help Rebsonath tap into some sliver of hidden gentlness, but neither of them have much.
- - - -
How did your character behave during Weyrling Training?
s'tren and Rebsonath took advantage of every opportunity to lead, during Weyrling training, even if it meant pushing others out of the way.

What did your character think of so many twin dragons? What did your character think of having not one, but two, gold sister?
S'tren finds the concept of twins strange to begin with. To have so many and particularly twin golds, he feels that there must have been some reason why the genes felt like they need to make 'backups", so to speak. He does not trust the soundness of twin dragpns.
How did your characters do during flying lessons and Between training? Were they naturals or did they struggle?
Rebsonath is extremely agile and quite proficient at flying. He is good enough at Betweening to not be in danger, but not a standout. Tht is something that bothers him a great deal and he will insist on very requent drills.
How has your character been handling being graduated and a real dragon rider?
He is constantly looking for opportunities to advance, or opportunities to prove his worth. He is probably not much trusted by his clutchmates because he is constantly grasping for advancement.
