Starfest 4
Strange things appear in Destiny City all the time, so nothing seems out of the ordinary about what might look like discarded trash, broken glass, or pieces of broken jewelry. If anyone were to lean in for a closer inspection, they might find a beautiful, gemstone like object that is shaped a bit like a star. They come in an array of colors and almost seem to have some sort of light sparkling in them.

Something about festivals made working in a hospital that much harder. Basyl didn't know what it was- Except, wait. He did. Anytime there was a reason for people to be out and about and away from their homes, there were likely to be more accidents. More pedestrians were getting hit by cars because there were more people walking the streets to enjoy the decorations, and there were more cars on the road going from event to event. There were more gatherings, so if one person was sick, more would likely follow. And don't even get him started on giving a college town a reason to party.

Whenever a bunch of rowdy boys got together, regardless of a reason, there was bound to be trouble.

Also unsurprisingly, the coffee shop was busier too, for many of the same reasons. There were just more people actively looking for reasons to not be at home during a city-wide event. Basyl didn't mind, necessarily. He liked being useful at the hospital, and he wouldn't say no to the extra hours at work in the coffee shop. He could certainly use the money...

But that left him with little time to personally enjoy the events. It wasn't so bad, he supposed. It wasn't like he had anyone to do anything with, but it still would've been nice to have just a small break while everyone else was out of school and all the teachers were off work.

It might have been nice to enjoy a sloppy festival snack or a lemonade slushie. He would've liked to hear some of the live bands that played in the park. He would've liked to go on a city-wide scavenger hunt or take pictures of the sparkling lights and glitter decorations that had been put on display. There were some around his places of work, of course, but it wasn't the same as taking a moment to relax and enjoy them.

He went out occasionally to try and flex his magic muscles, but that was always tinged with a hint of fear that he would be attacked, or he would have to attack something to protect someone else.

He shouldn't be complaining. It was nice to be useful in those regards, but...

Basyl practically fell off the bus as he was deposited on the street in front of his apartment complex. It had been a pretty early shift at the hospital, but it has also ended a bit later than he'd been scheduled for (no surprise, with all the extra admittance). He dragged his feet as he trudged up to his building, sneakers shuffling through bits of trash and discarded or fallen festival decorations as he walked. It would be a mess to clean up the city once this was all over, too...

But something hard smacked into the toe of his shoe as he moved. It didn't hurt, but the sturdiness of it made Basyl let out a shocked little yelp, as if he'd expected it to. He flinched back a pace, then leaned down to inspect what it was.

"Oh..." A pretty little stone! It was in a deep shade of purple-violet and practically as transparent as glass. It almost looked like a little star, with a flicker of light somewhere in its depths. What a lovely little find! He wondered if someone had accidentally dropped it after visiting one of the event stalls. He had heard that they were giving out starry trinkets... It seemed a waste to let it sit on the ground and be smothered by dirt and grass clippings, and he did love stuff, so Basyl pocketed the stone, feeling just a bit brighter as he made his way into his apartment.
