Quote:
It was already late in the evening but the merchant seemed unfazed by the passing of time. He sat, poised and elegant, watching the world around him. He didn’t seem bored but he sat, fingers laced atop the table; below it, he kept his toe tapping to some silent tune in his head. He was tall, by human standards, though while sitting down he didn’t seem particularly threatening. If you didn’t look at his face.

He had graceful features--sharp and refined. His chin and nose tapered to a point, giving him an air of sophistication, but that, combined with his slitted eyes and pointed teeth, there was something undeniably predatory about him. He watched with a hungry gaze and a mischievous, nearly sinister smile. His ears were pointed and were prominent despite being tucked behind his vibrant, multi-colored hair. The most intrusive feature that indicated there was something not human about him were the curling horns protruding from his temples and the oil-slick black scales that brushed his cheeks and forehead. He was well dressed, in a fashion obviously otherworldly, and seemed to enjoy dressing himself up in glistening gemstones.

His stall was somehow both simple and overwhelming; it was only a table with a deep purple cloth over it, but scattered neatly atop it were an array of items that seemed to carry some magical weight to them.

He did not seem intimidated in the slightest and, upon noticing a customer approaching, he smiled.

He did not rise to meet them nor adjust his position in the slightest. He followed them with his fierce eyes.

In a silky voice, he greeted, “Welcome.”

Elsa knew he had to look like an idiot, but he wasn't sure what else anyone could reasonably expect from him. A little shocked staring was a perfectly reasonable reaction to what looked at first glance like an ordinary craft merchant's stall, but on closer inspection...well. The table was odd enough; the items seemed strange and disparate. But what was really attention-grabbing was the man sitting at the table.

Because he was 1) clearly not human and 2) absolutely ******** gorgeous.

Seriously. What, Elsa could only ask, did anyone want from him? What was he supposed to do other than be utterly dumbstruck?

"Uh," he said, articulately, "thanks?" It came out a little strangled, which just made Elsa feel incredibly stupid. "That, um. I mean. Thank you."

The smile grew, as though the merchant was pleased to have such an obviously enamored guest. “Oh? So grateful already, and I haven’t even gotten to the compliments. Have you come out here to make a trade with me, little Senshi? ...I’ve got things from all over the universe, desperate for a good home. Small, lovely things,” he gestured to gemstones and jewels. “Dangerous things,” a few blades.

And then, he paused, and tapped a box to the side of the able; it was closed and it was impossible to see what was inside, but it seemed that whatever he carried, he took great pride in--and in protecting.

“And heavy things. Beautiful, magic, all the same. Have you brought me something to trade? I might be willing to part with some of my rarer things if you’ve brought me something particularly lovely.”

Elsa's eyes followed the merchant's hands, and lingered on the strange box, particularly. It looked...unique. Special. Like soemthing he might want to take home.

"I...yes. I'm Sailor Elsa, and I've come to trade." He wracked his brain for anything strange or unusual that he might have to offer, as foolish as it might be to make a deal with a mysterious alien from another planet. Than, it hit him. The colorful meteor shower. the strange piece of crystal he'd found.

He fished it out of the pocket he'd tucked it into, after showing it to Mundilfari, and extended his hand to show it to the merchant. "I don't know if this is the type of thing you're looking for, but I think it's the most unusual thing I've got on hand?"

"Oh," he said, with what sounded like delight. "Oh, yes. That's lovely. That will most certainly do. Hold that for a moment, keep it out."

He wanted to take it, wanted to whisk it away, but he still had his end of the bargain to fulfill before it was his.

"Now, let's see what I can offer you."

He paused, and looked the Senshi up and down for a moment. "You are something special. I'm still learning about your kind. But I love it," he said, and seemed to be genuine. The Dark Mirror Senshi were new to him.

Not surprising, really, since they still seemed new to Earth in general.

He adjusted the box, lifted the lid, and then heaved out a beautiful, thickly lined cloak. It was lined with long fur that was incredibly soft to the touch. The cloak was heavy, clearly meant to keep out the cold. It stopped the wind completely and seemed like it might have been able to chase away even the most bitter cold. The cloak seemed to be held together by a small brooch that looked like a set of tiny, fossilized antlers; little silver snowflakes dangled from it. Everything about the cloak screamed expert craftsmanship, and when he offered it for Elsa to feel, it sagged from its own weight. It was a beautiful piece, and the merchant's eyes raked across it fondly.

"What about this?" he chanced. "Earth has cold winters, doesn't it?"

"I get the impression that the Court's a little weird, yeah," Elsa acknowledged. "I guess you've met a few of us, then?"

But then the merchant revealed the cloak, and Elsa gasped, softly. There was no denying it--even at just a quick glance, and with Elsa's limited knowledge of fashion, it was obvious to him that it was incredibly fine. When it was offered, he reached out, gently brushing his hand over the lining.

"Amazing," he said, softly. "Yes, Earth does have cold winters. Or, this part does, at least. I think...that's more than a fair trade." To say the least. A piece of crystal he'd stumbled upon by accident, in exchange for a likely-magical cloak? Elsa felt very firmly as if he were getting the far better end of the bargain.

Then again, he knew little about the crystal; maybe it had a use beyond what he could understand. Something the merchant needed it for, that made this more even.

"So, here." He offered the crystal, gently gripping the cloak. "And thank you."

He knew that gasp. He knew what it meant.

The deal was sealed, and it was hard not to smile at the reaction the cloak had given this senshi.

"Thank you," the man replied. His fingers grazed the crystal and within only a second it disappeared from sight.

The smile on his face remained. "It'll look good on you. And I hope it keeps you safe. I'd like to see you again. Ah," he sighed, so contented. "You Dark Mirror Senshi fascinate me. You must take care so we can speak again."
