The city is looking for heroes! Not super heroes, but the everyday heroes that live in Destiny City. City Council has asked for nominations for these heroes that deserve a little extra recognition for making the city a better place. Posters have been hung in a few prominent locations around the city, searching for “The People’s Heroes”. The posters are quite clear: anyone can be nominated for any reason whatsoever, they don't need to have performed a heroic deed by any stretch of the imagination--all they need to be is a hero to the person nominating them. The nominations aren’t competitive by any standards; participants are asked to fill out a small form either online or in person. Nominations are collected and are televised nightly on a local news channel for the duration of the event; the notes of recognition are also delivered to the nominees when applicable. Do you fill out a nomination, or are you the recipient of one? Are you watching the news for anyone familiar that you might know?

Anthony Darrow was sitting on the sofa of his home, a rare location for him. He was often so busy splitting time between his work and his duties, he did not have a lot of time for life at home. There were special situations, of course: he took every weekend off from the library and spent the day time with his family, but a chance for him to sit down and relax alone? That was very rare indeed.

It was also very late at night, and the rest of the house was asleep. Even Dogby and Gizmo, his two corgi dogs, were curled up together in one of their beds, despite having their own. They either liked sleeping next to one another, or with their owners in the bedroom. He supposed his wife must have closed the door before they managed to make it in and take up the whole bed, which was for the best.

They were ridiculously stubborn, and could turn themselves into solid weights of pure dog mass when they did not want to be moved. They became impossible to pick up, at once condensing their weight and flopping out of hands like a fluffy liquid no matter how one approached the problem of picking them up.

By now, Tony had given up trying to move them once they were settled. At least they weren't in his lap and he could just stretch out languidly on the sofa. He did have one companion, though. A small cat was curled up next to him, purring softly and drifting in and out of sleep. The only reason he had not given up entirely was the fact that Tony had some reheated pizza that he was eating and, quite purposefully despite the cat's best attempts, not sharing.

Hadaya was nothing if not persistent, though, and would just stay close in case Tony changed his mind.

Tony continued to pretend the little cat was sound asleep, his eyes on the television. He had the sound low, just to make sure he did not wake up his wife or daughter, and was watching the news mostly for the sake of it. It was just replaying the same stories it had shown in the evening, nothing particularly interesting happening this late at night in the city. At least, not as far as they knew. Camelot knew better, but he had already completed a round of patrols and things really had been oddly calm. That was what prompted him to turn in a little early, after all. The screen shifted from some B roll of the park to the news desk, where the news reporter began a fluff piece in junction with the festival they had just been highlighting. They began listing off recipients of local nominations as people's heroes. Tony was familiar enough with the whole concept, finding it endearing and a positive little event, and had hung up some posters for it in the library.

His attention was drawn from his pizza as the voice recognized 'Library Man Anthony Darrow'. The reason for his nomination in this case, with some spelling errors as pointed out by a very amused reporter, had his eyes dropping down to the little ball of orange fur at his side.

"Library Man Anthony Darrow always takes such good care of his pets, and is very nice."

Hadaya opened one eye and peeked up at Tony, who was softly smiling at him and shaking his head.

"Did you use my computer?" Tony whispered, reaching down and scratching Hadaya behind his ears. The cat uncurled, purring out a long breath of a sigh and rolling onto his back.

"I'm very hungry," he whined softly, eyes shimmering up at the man that took such good care of him and the dogs. He was not even technically their pet, but the sentiment worked. Tony ripped off a piece of pizza and offered it to Hadaya, who rolled over onto his stubby feet and quickly took it into his mouth happily. Tony took a bite out of the pizza that was left, grinning around it and returning his gaze to the tv.
