Quote:
It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be pink, blue, and even purple in color. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.

It had been a long day wandering around the festival with her sister, Brianna, and their mauvian friend Liryn and while it started out on a more somber note, being around the two of them did wonders to lift her spirits quite a bit.

Weather reports indicated that there was supposed to be a meteor shower and while the two of them would normally go watch something like that today. But at the end of the day, rather than accompanying Bri on a few errands before going home, Fiona requested a little bit of alone time to just wind down from the long week. Her twin agreed, albeit reluctantly at first.

She really didn’t know what prompted her to power up, or to scout around the festival before finding a secluded place near the water to sit and just simply be. It had been months since the last time Alcor had powered up, yet for some reason the one part about her that scared her the most was, in this moment, the one thing that made her feel safe. Too many creatures lurked around in the night and this was the only way she was certain whether or not she was actually alone to her own thoughts or if some monster was about to attack her from behind.

The senshi of fog was pretty damn sure he hadn't been powered up in nearly two years, somewhere around there. It wasn't like he didn't think about it - he did. The henshin pen he had was kept in his bedroom in his dresser draw, for safe keeping. It wasn't something he didn't see all the time and think about, didn't pick up, didn't lay back down and close the draw on. It was just that he still didn't feel a strong collection to things...he hadn't seen what was going on. He had...but he also hadn't - not like others he was sure. Everything right now seemed peaceful in the city, that or he wasn't ever in the wrong place at the right time.

Tonight...for whatever strange reason he'd picked up his henshin pen and had gone out to power up. It had been so damn long and yet he remembered the words to power up. The uniform...that he'd forgotten, not that it was a bad uniform. But he'd just simply forgotten it because it had been so long and so much had happened.

The clothing was...warm - too warm. But he understood it, given his sphere, he supposed it made some amount of sense. Fog was typically accompanied by cool to cold temperatures so yeah; warm clothing made sense.

Deciding to stick to the fairly populated city center, home to the wishing tree, he kept his distance as he arrived. He didn't need people spotting him and attacking him or something, he was still aware that senshi and others weren't well liked in the city, but he did figure an area like this might be safe. Someone else was here though...but where - and who?

Alcor could feel it. An order aura feathering the edge of her senses just barely out of range but definitely there. It made the hairs on the back of her neck rise in anxious anticipation of feeling a chaos aura.

But as seconds bled into minutes, she soon realized that the only signature she felt was moving slowly, at a walk perhaps rather than with haste to get away from someone or something that might be chasing it. Alcor stood and brushed the dirt off the back of her skirt then picked up her white winter fur-trimmed jacket and did the same. Her uniform, thankfully, seemed suited for all seasons, a leotard with a mini skirt like what most ice skaters typically wore but also a soft dense fabric coat to keep her warm when the temperatures dropped. It was more convenient then her sister’s at least.

“Ele?” Alcor called out, assuming that her twin had somehow tracked her down. The senshi of heat would be furious, feeling like she was being left behind or that she was somehow a hypocrite, which wouldn’t be wrong considering the number of times she told her sister not to power up or patrol on her own. But Eleonora was too kind and foolish which terrified Alcor to the bones.

“I’m sorry I came out here alone I-” She began. However, when the Senshi of Cold raised a hand to brush the blue strands of hair from her face she noticed something strange hanging from her pinky.

A thin red string that drew a line from her through the trees and shrubs at her back towards the approaching aura. “... what is this?” She wondered to herself.

Meanwhile the senshi of fog was looking towards the voice he heard. Someone apologizing but to who and for what? He didn't know more than two or three people like this, so no one who would be apologizing to him. He did look though and saw another senshi, the one he sensed, and taking a moment to stare he shook his head.

"I don't know why you're apologizing to me." As he was certain he didn't know her, he would remember someone dressed like she was. That uniform certainly stood out, it was different and looked perfect for the winter...for snow. Not just color wise but he did see the fur she was carrying with her.

As he took a moment to find what she was staring at he spotted what was hanging from her finger, where it was looped and tied, a red string. Wasn't there that whole thing about red string of fate? "A red string?" He questioned, not yet looking to where the string went, because the string itself was interesting and he assumed it just showed up on her finger - but why? He knew the story behind it...but this was Destiny City and while he didn't know everything which happened he did know anything could happen. A red string did not need to mean what everyone else thought it meant.

Alcor seemed genuinely surprised when the sound of the voice that met her ears belonged to a man rather than her pale-haired twin. Her brows were knitted in confusion as he approached yet she didn’t back away.

His aura was like her own which meant that they were on the same side of this war, or at least she hoped that was the case. Nonetheless, the Senshi of Cold approached the conversation with a fair amount of caution.

“Is this…” there was a moment of hesitation as she held her coat close. “Is this your doing? The string… is it your magic?” His uniform didn’t really give much in the way of hints as to what his sphere might be whereas her tiara was made out of what looked like snowflakes and her skirt looked like frozen water.

"No....why would I do something to someone I don't know?" He questioned before shaking his head. "No...I've never even used my magic." At least not that he could remember, he was pretty sure he'd never used it. He so rarely powered up that he could be that sure.

Raising a hand, to brush his hair from his face, he gave pause when he spotted the string about his own hand. "Why..." Looking from his string to her own he was even more puzzled now. "Red string of fate.....but why?" And how. It shouldn't be real...just like magic...but magic was. So of course this could be also. But why a strange and why him? It made no sense to him.

"I wouldn't do something like this even if I could."

Alcor blinked back in surprise. But then relaxed a bit when she realized his alarmed response was genuine. “Relax, I believe you.” She took a step towards him and noticed that the string that tethered them together shortened as well. “It doesn’t seem to be hurting either of us so I’m assuming we’re fine.”

With the rumor of the fae in the garden she assumed that there was someone behind all the shenanigans pulling the strings, pun intended of course. “Since you haven’t used your magic yet then I take it you’re newly awakened” Must have been a better experience than her own since the moment she powered up, and her sister for that matter a few years later, there was a youma that needed to be dusted.

“My name is Alcor, I’m the Senshi of Cold. What’s your name?” She asked, reaching a hand out towards him in a friendly greeting.

"It's been...two years." So he wasn't that new, he was just that busy with everything else. He did however introduce himself, it was polite to do. "Pleione, senshi of fog." As much as he might be a senshi in aura, and title, was he really one? He didn't do much, if anything, as a senshi or for the cause...whatever that might be. He knew what the cat had told him but still. Everything seemed fine in the city.

Shaking the offered hand, a smile forming, as he let go of her hand. "This is strange, these stringers, but they aren't doing anything - as you said. I do hope nothing comes of it and this is random." He couldn't picture having a red string from his finger all the time. What if it ever did something? Nothing ever did nothing, right? There was no way it would remain on his finger, and hers, and do nothing to either of them. It was pointless then.

“Whatever the cause may be, I don’t sense any chaotic aura or youma nearby so I don’t think it’s meant to do either of us harm. So I think we’re safe for now.” However, if they remained powered up together like this it might attract some unwanted attention.

“It might be a good idea to power down just in case there is a Negaverse Officer patrolling this area. I’ve found that while there is safety in numbers it also tends to attract stronger agents who are looking for a challenge I’m not equipped to give them.” When natural instincts kicked in, Alcor leaned more towards flight over fight especially since her magic required physical contact with the other individual and that proximity was simply too close for comfort. Even though her magic was more offensive rather than defensive, she would have preferred an ability that allowed for some distance.

Considering the suggestion was hers, Alcor drew in a steady breath and willed herself to power down. There was a light glow around her and in the next moment, the uniform was gone, replaced by a pair of jeans, black boots, a camisole and a forest green cardigan.

"It's likely we're the only people who can see it as well." At least that was as far as he figured. He was pretty sure the few things he'd ever heard online, which was rare, mentioned it being something only the two involved could see. At least that was a good thing.

"I'm certainly not either." Having never been in a fight he knew he wasn't able to handle one, he wasn't about to risk himself or someone else either.

While she took her own advice he did the same, his eyes closed as it took a bit for him to focus on what he wanted to do. He didn't see who was staring right in front of him right away. When he did open his eyes he saw who it was though - and was shocked. Oh god....Fiona. Well, this was a shock...but not a bad one.

As she watched him power down, Fiona could feel her heart begin to freeze. Despite the warm air lingering around them, she felt the cold fingers of dread wrap around her throat making it difficult to not only breath but to speak as well.

Of all the people in Destiny City, Fionan was the last person she would have expected to see standing in front of her. The once friendly smile slipped into an uneasy expression.

Just earlier that day she had wished for a second chance, and now that God, or whatever entity was preceding over that tree, had seemed fit to grant her that one desire, Fiona wanted nothing more than to flee. She pressed a palm against her painfully beating heart and worried her lower lip.

“Fionan…” She spoke softly, her voice sounding almost said by the realization.

"Fiona...." Watching her, worry etching itself across his features, he reached out towards her. Taking a step closer. "You're ok?" Though she didn't seem to be, he was worried for her.

"This is..a shock." Though he wasn't upset by it or anything. He certainly felt shock and surprise over this revelation. It made some sense...maybe, if he were to think about it long and hard. "How long have you been?" He asked, trailing off, he didn't need to specify what he was asking. He was curious how long she'd been a senshi. "We can talk - if you want. Maybe some food?" Always one to think about food, he did like to eat, he figured food helped everything...especially whatever awkward talk they might have - if she wanted to talk.

Fiona’s eyes trailed down to the red string again and for several moments she remained silent either because she was trying to pick her words carefully or because she wasn’t sure how to respond, it was hard to tell.

It would probably be a good idea to go get coffee, give her something to hold on to rather than toying with the ends of her green cardigan. But the awkward silence getting there would be excruciatingly painful. “I awoke six, almost seven years ago. A few months before the masquerade where monsters started showing up and people were kidnapped.” It was a blessing in disguise that neither of them had been taken but the Negaverse did succeed in stealing energy from both of them through the masks that had been handed out.

“I wanted to tell you,” she admitted, then finally looked up albeit hesitantly, to see his reaction. “But I was scared. I wasn’t strong enough to protect anyone let alone myself and with everything that had happened up until that point I didn’t want to bring you into this mess.” But it looked like someone already had. In her absence, someone else managed to get him tangled in this stupid war.

"I think it was....four years ago." His perception of time was still not the best, and it never likely would be, he was still the same person who ran late for everything and never figured how long something actually took. It was just a part of him, like people needed to drink and breath. "The masquerade was...a lot." The whole thing was a lot but it seemed the city was safer, such things weren't happening. Though he did know not to trust the holidays and the events happening. But they didn't seem Negaverse things...not that he knew much really. So he could very easily be wrong.

"It's ok. I didn't want to tell you either - for the same reason. I also can't say I cared much for this. I did have real life to focus on." And he still did, this was such a rare thing. "It looks like we're both in the same boat and now we know it at least. Maybe we can fix things?" He was reaching, and he knew it, but was her note on the tree about him? He wasn't sure but maybe it could work for them? Maybe that was why the string?
