The Wishing Tree (2) : Your wish is only said to come true if you grant the wish of someone else; when you write your wish, you must also take one off of the tree and do your best to grant it. What wish do you pull off, and how do you intend to ‘grant’ it? Do you work with someone else to grant this wish, or do you work alone? You may get approval from another player to use the wish their character hung up, but no names are attached so your character may not ever know who wrote it!
After burying his own wish somewhere remote in the park, Jason returned to the wishing tree. He knew the rumors that went into the 'power' behind the tree. If you wanted your own wish granted, you should try to grant someone else's in return. Even if he had wished for something that no one else could really give him, something more personal, he still felt like he should return the favor to the tree. Destiny City really was quite the magical city, so you couldn't simply dismiss rumors or stories about wishes and how they worked.
He spent quit some time wandering around under the tree. Appreciating all the work that went into decorating it and all of the many wishes hung up. With so many already there he wondered how many people had simply made a wish without trying to return the favor. He'd definitely do his best to grant whatever wish he managed to pull down.
He found one light-yellow piece of paper that looked like it might have been hanging around for a while and gently pulled it down from the tree. He unfolded the paper and read: 'I wish people would be more thoughtful.' That was definitely a bit of an obscure one All he could really do was make sure he was more thoughtful himself. Maybe try to spread some good habits onto others.
Suddenly he thoughts turned to his family. He had a lot to answer for to many of them. In some ways he'd been a disappointment. In others, he was a bit of a star. While he didn't always listen to them, he liked to think they were secretly proud of him for striking out on his own. For forging his own path.
But did he ever really thank them for it? He had a tendency to complain about going home. Talking about his father's work. Helping out in his Mom's store. Now that college was behind him, it was about time he did something to return the favor.
He supposed that could be what was meant of thoughtfulness. He probably would have just gone on worrying about himself had someone not wished otherwise. Whoever had written this wish, he wondered what they were like. What sort of experiences they had to be making such a wish. Well, whoever it had been, he was very thankful for them. They'd certainly opened his eyes to a big hole in his own life.
He wasn't exactly sure what he was going to do to grant the wish. But, he knew it was going to be done. So he made his way back to where he'd buried his own wish in the park and buried the other person's wish next to it.
He'd start by making a surprise visit to his parent's home before heading back to his apartment. That ought to be a nice first step. He'd pick up some donuts along the way as well. They were a family favorite after all. They could have a nice family talk about what to do next.
